A new day, a new time zone.

I want to add a female commissar to the ranks of my IG army, but I really don't like the old (and endlessly recast) version that pops up on E-bay from time to time. Can anyone point me in the direction of an alternative model by other manufacturers, or suitable bits that I could combine to achieve this goal?

I've always thought this would make a good commisar, with some hand swaps.

The Genocidal Overlord is my favorite too, but you could always add a little GS to other 2 models to give them less revealing tops.

Yeah, but it's also distracting! Commissars are all about being hard-asses, and I can't see a half-naked woman bossing around a squad of soldiers lol.

I am rather partial to that Sascha Dubois mini, although I'd definitely use a little green stuff to make her uniform conform to guard standards.

Actually, that'd work pretty well. Close up the boob window and add a thin layer over her stomach, and the top would seem like extra carapace armor. Then I'd just need to figure out what to replace the hand holding the time piece with.

Wait a tic, the commissar holding the book has it in his left hand, doesn't he? That'd certainly work.

I'm partial to the Privateer Press one, with a little GS to make it less revealing and some hand swaps for a pair bolt pistols i think it would make a great commissar. But that's just me.

Hmm, despite what I said about the sexy-look not working for commissars, I think this one pulls it off pretty well. She looks like she wants to kick someone's ass. You could always use some green stuff too of course.

Considering that that model is supposed to be a werewolf hunter, I don't think it's a coincidence...

Hicks: [pause] Seventeen days.
Hudson: Seventeen *days?* Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen *hours!* Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here...
Ripley: Hudson!
Hudson: ...and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!
Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training.

Ripley: Right?
[Newt apes a salute]
Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Just had a look through some more of the Urban Mammoth lines and found a few other possible contenders for Commissar, as well as some that might be good in other parts of guard armies too.

Rest of the line here, including guard alternatives like snipers, heavies, etc., with a few more women thrown in.

I used one of the mammoth ones for my first commissar, it looks good with a guard squad on the table.

I also have bought both the WarMachine Sorscha figures to use as commissars, but haven't painted 'em up yet. They should work really well though.

Why not give her a bigger gun?

The replacement hand was from the catachan command sprue IIRC, though I imagine you could get one from any number of guard sprues.

First-welcome to Dakka! Good to see a fresh face, but please read over the forum rules. They're always conveniently located in the bottom right corner of the page. This would count as a thread necro, since the thread is so old, but I'll address your question real quick.

I believe they're both Viridian, and the second is the Colonial Marine Sergeant Heroine. I'm having trouble finding the first.

Now, in an effort to remain relevant and add a bit of new info, Raging Heroes is previewing a new female Commissar test sculpt:

More info and pics in this thread here.

Where you least expect it...

You could base your model on a male commisar, swap the head for a more female one ( the eldar guardian head works nice for me) and sculpt brests ( try not to make them to big, it requiers a lot less green stuff then you might think) i did a nice autarch conversion that way.

just because i'm swedish doesent mean that i'm blonde. I just hapen to be anyway

I suggest one researches female bodies on Google. (). Eldar have a more feminine shape, so you can get get away with it (presumably. I don't know, i've not seen your model) You can't just slap breasts on an obviously male body and call it a woman, it looks crap.

A new day, a new time zone.

Heh, this wasn't a thread I was expecting to see bobbing back to the surface.

I ended up going with Sascha DuBois for my commissar model, with the final result being her giving an inspiring reading from the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer (Damocles Gulf edition) shortly immediately after having vigorously degobbed a nob.

Of course now that I see that Raging Heroes model, although I think she's pushing my cheesecake boundaries just a little, it looks like I'm going to be adding another lady commissar to my IG.
