I recently bought some of my friend's BA tacticals he got as a gift years ago. 19 dudes for 20 bucks. Not bad. However, as I have heard BA tacticals aren't good, I was wondering if I should repaint them as another chapter. Possibly one from the Badab War. Here are some pics of the bunch.
Group
Chainsword + flamer guy
RELOADING!
Brother One-Man-Army
And the Sgt. with an old paper banner that came with the set, I think.
[EDIT] As I just realized I didn't ask a question in my post,
What chapter do you think I should repaint them as, or should I just fix them up and keep them as BA?

I'd strip em and try out some new colors, or strip em and use em for swaps.
Or both.

I was planning on keeping a couple to fix up for swaps, but I kinda want to try out a different scheme. What are some Badab War chapters that aren't take by our little circle? Gits has Mantis Warriors, Ice has Astral Claws, Solar_Lion has Lamenters, you have...*quickly checks your blog* nothing I can see on the first few pages And I know someone else has Executioners.
[EDIT] Has anyone taken the Star Phantoms? Automatically Appended Next Post: Zefig wrote:Put chainswords on all their belts and run them as bolter DC?

BA Tacticals are not bad. I regularly run two in rhinos for objective grabbing. The free special and heavy weapon and the bolters allow for defensive fire, while the assault marines have to sit and wait for someone to land on them in order to hold an objective.
I'd try running them if you have a BA army. You'd be surprised with the differences in defensive capabilities.

My BA army is all "ohh, this looks cool' army. AKA: AoBR tacs, a normal tac squad, AoBR termies (one w/ assault cannon conversion) jump-pack converted Honorguard and librarian, AoBR dread turned Libby, LRC, and thats pretty much it.

It's a TON of DC. Don't have to do them all that way though Well, really, or any for that matter. Just an idea.

Yeah.
I'm tempted to do star phantoms, but I'm not sure If I have the correct greys and blues to do it.
Any other suggestions for good chapters? (Fire Angels are already out, not painting bone armor. And, No Salamanders, to First Founding for my taste )

Go with the strip option. Do a diorama of all the chapters involved.

Ohh, liking that idea. Hmm, brb, going to count the number of chapters involved
(also, when I finally buy the vanilla SM codex ((I decided to do SW's )), I'm having my multi-cultural GMS army along with my BA's to make an ok army.)
[EDIT]
Looks like 17 to me. I'm pumped now...
Also, which chapter should I do first? I'm thinking Excorsists because they are already Red. And then Astral Claws because of Orange. Automatically Appended Next Post: Any tips for some specific legions from anyone who has painted them, that'll be great. I'll change the name of the thread to reflect my new goal.
Also, Which chapter should get the honor of the flamer + chainsword guy? he is my favorite so far

I would strip them all bbl even if you are going to just paint it red again. 2 reasons one so you don't end up losing detail and two its all practice, lol. For the bases get two pieces of hard board. In the top one cut out hole the same size as your bases the glue to the bottom piece. Then place you bases in the holes and bases everything together. That way when you put the minis in they will look like they are part of the larger base.

Well, my last 'stripping' venture melted the model and the cup I used...
Also, thought its hard to see in the pics, the paint is super thin, but the most of the details aren't painted, so I don't think I'll loose much detail if I paint over.
However, is there a good, easy way to strip plastic that wont destroy the model?

What did you use? I've stripped many a model, and have melted my fair share. Feel free to ask any questions you want.
I'd use Simple Green, available in bulk for cheap at you local home depot or lowe's. Put it in any Tupperware container (or something with a lid, it smells), just enough to cover the models.
Wait a day or so (or a month if you forget about them). Depending on the weather, I either put them in a colander and hit em with the hose on high blast (careful not to blast the bits out) or in the sink, again on high. Then grab an old toothbrush, cut the bristles shorter, and go to town (that's what she said?).
Feel like I'm missing something, so lemme know if you need any pointers.

I may get simple green, I may be lazy.
My idea for the display is the four traitors back to back surrounded by loyalists.

Yeah, that will work great for METAL models, but eats plastic ones.
Oh, remember to wash them after stripped as well, get all the simple green off.
