Well, turns out that I've signed up for my first tournament. It's a 1000 points doubles tournaments, with teams of 4 that rotate for each match. Anyway, I was asked if I wanted to enter, and decided I might as well toss in the Gallowsmen. But first I'll have to finish them. So I have 1 month to finish the entire army.

Here's what I have planned:
HQ
Librarian (jump pack) - 125

5*Honour Gaurd (jump packs, 2*flamer, 3*melta, 3*plasma) - 250

Elites
Furioso Dreadnought (blood talons) - 125

Troops
4*Death Company (jump packs, 2*power weapon, 1*power fist) - 195
Lemartes - 150

5*Assault Marines (1*melta gun, power weapon, infernus pistol, melta bombs) - 145

Basically, the plan will be to have my ally destroy/move enemy models to cut a nice big opening for my death company to rush in and kill whatever needs killing. Essentially, my list will act as a super-concentrated marine missile of death.

Anyway, to start off, I recently finished painting my counts-as-Astorath, the Gallowsmen High Executioner:

Next up, the second honour gaurd, packing a plasma and melta gun. The greenstuff on his left thigh got really warped because of a gluing incident, but I'll be able to paint it to look like battle damage, so I'm not too worried:

One of the Death Company miniatures.

And lastly, a picture of all the minatures I have done so far. The LC/SS model will just count as carrying a power weapon for the tourney, and I'll remove the normal backpack from the one green marine (Gallowsmen chaptergaurd colours) and give him a jump pack. I never intended to use him, since he was just a prototype for the rest of my truescales, but I need the bodies.

If I can manage to get them all converted and painted up to standard by the tourney date, I'll be a shoe in for best presentation, but the challenge is actually getting there.

(and for those wondering what book I'm using to take the photos on, it's Yoshitaka Amano's "Dawn" compilation artbook. Totally worth getting if you're a fan of his work, it's absolutely beautiful)

Awesome not quite sure about the Plasma/ Melta Gun dual wielder could be a bugger for the casualty rules. Really Cool true scale modelling and the High Executioner looks really real somehow.

Including painting, they can take up to 10 hours per model. Although I'm trying to cut that down, they still take a very long time to make.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here comes another Honour Gaurd. He'll count as having a flamer and plasma gun. And if anyone says otherwise, they can shove a chainsword right up their ass. He just looks too cool.

For the life of me I can't place where the High Executioner's head comes from. I think it's from a Space Wolf sprue, any clarification would be much appreciated.
The models themselves are looking really good as well, can't wait to see the finished results on all of them!

Your marines look pretty sick and I also love the use of the heavy flamer arm.

Are you just using greenstuff to bulk out the torsos?

2 2handed weapons? I think that's a no no.

Only if you are still playing te 3rd edition SM codex.

HG can swap a melta/plasma/flamer for their bolt pistol, then a melta/plasma/flamer for their chainsword.

Some of the heads are from the Death Company Kit, some are from the Black Templar sprue, one is from the Dark Angels sprue, and some are from the Assault Marines kit. One of them is customized with greenstuff (the LC/SS marine, who also appears in my signature), and the High Executioner uses a Space Wolf head.

Reaper Man 2020 wrote:I like them, makes me want to do some true scale marines my self!

Yep, Terminator legs. The torsos are just bulked out a bit with green stuff. The back plate is always a normal marine back plate, and the front plate is either a terminator front plate or a normal marine front plate, depending on the look I'm going for. Either way, it gets bulked up with greenstuff (not too much, just a bit'll do) to add a little more 'weight' to the model.

I *think* it's from the Grey Hunters box. But I'm not sure, since I got it from a friend (he had a tonne of extra puppy heads and marine parts in general, so he let me raid his bits box).

Blood Angels Honour Gaurd make such loadouts perfectly legal.

I do know that is says that in the codex, but I got a feeling it's in the big rulebook thought I could be wrong. It feels wrong to have 2 2handed weapons at least.

Nope, nothing wrong with having 2 two-handed weapons. Back in 3rd edition, you could only take 2 weapons on a model, either 2 one-handed weapons or a two-handed weapon and a one-handed wepaon, but never 2 two-handed weapons.

But now you can take as many weapons as you want as long as the codex allows it, there's no restriction.

Ok, thx for the info. I thinks it's because I've always thought that it would look silly and pretty unpractical to have 2 2handed that I still think that you're not allowed to have it.

This thread makes me want to do my own truescale marines. And I never want to make a marines army. Cracking work!

PS rules or otherwise, a heavy flamer and plasma gun looks ninja.

Dangit! Of course you would have to go and make some amazing looking truescale marines. Well, I guess I'll just have to one up this in my current works... additionally, though I love the apt use of rules, I must simply say Derned Blood Angels, being able to technically take on a couple of assault weapons each. I still think the deep striking land raider is uncalled for, even if it is a great idea. Your work is too amazing, good sir, adding another person whose TS marines turn out to trump mine (though not too hard, especially considering the vast majority are still under construction, set aside for a good number of months...).

I believe I have spoken my piece and peace, so, Kaesar II out.

Well, things have been shuffled a bit after my first test game with the army (still having to proxy lots). Turns out that a single unit of Death company with Lemartes is more than enough DC to get the job done (seriously, I had Lemartes clean up 8 units all on his own), and that a second unit just gets vapourized pretty quickly. Not to mention that Astorath sucks ass.

So there'll be a major paradigm shift. A single unit of Death Company led by Lemartes, with a small unit of assault marines geared for anti-tank measures, the honour gaurd still in place (it's too late to go back on them now), and a Furioso Dreadnaught with bloodclaws to help bring everything together. Astorath will be replaced with a Librarian.

So, on to the interesting stuff:

Converted my chapter master (for those of you familiar with my older conversions, this Chapter Master pretty much retcons the old model to that of a normal fisty guy) using pieces from the Terminator kits, Empire Flagellant kit, Death Company box, and Assault Marine box. And he looks fething awesome.

For the tournament and other low-point games, he'll likely function as the Librarian, although for point levels above 1000, he'll function as the Sanguinor.

Great work, they all look amazing. The heavy flamer idea looks so hardcore, and the pose really stands out.

I heard that someone may end up raising some WYSIWIG issues about my army, what with the heavy flamer and the large bases and the being too cool and all.

I assure you, if that does happen, there will be hell to pay. HELL TO PAY.

On to Gallowsman number 12, 4 more to go.

This guy'll count as Lemartes. After he ended up killing 38 gaunts, a trygon, and 10 genestealers, he needed a suitably epic model to compensate. I hope that, once this guy's painted, he'll do justice to the monster that is Lemartes.

You can have pretty much what you want these days as long as you pay the pts. Ends up being v.expensive and of course you can't use both in each turn, plus you miss out on Attack dice.

I'm usually a big fan of WYSIWYG to an extent but if anyone says anything just point out every single Space Marine has a bolt pistol, but no one every gives them all one!

Awesome looking minis though, the new H.Flamer model is immense, I've used several myself. As a massive BA fan myself I must dip my hat to you sir!
