I just started an ork army with some boyz i bought from a friend of mine and a black reach set that i split with my friend because he wanted the space marines, now the orks i have gotten were poorly painted and poorley managed and needed a lot of fixing. I started my orks going for a feral army and i thought what if i made a pirate warband? Peg legs and eyepatches with ridiculous hats, whats a funnier looking army then that. Love the pants. But I would thing about adding battle damage to the armor. Since you going for a pirate theme they gear might not be the greatest maintained. Ha and if ya do a warboss do a squig-bird. That would be awesome.

A Face-Bitter-Bird-Squig would be epic!

Update on da boyz, started my krew and made some more painting progress. Slow going in total, I did however base all of me boyz and made me a looted boom fn chimera, looking to up it though with grotz.

if these guys are pirates as you say, then feel free to nik thier armor and guns from marines, tau, sisters, inquisition, eldar, dark eldar, chaos, and nids. for instance it would not be out of place in an ork pirate band to see them using cuttas made from nid scything talons, after all it's a twofer, 1 fer the weapon and 2 fer the trophy.

EI've had lots of stuff on my plate for this army, Im buying a box of eldar for loot tomorrow and some more paints, I'm very limited as of now with school, another 10 of my boyz are a wip. Also attempting to acquire some battlewagons.

I know it's a small thing, but the stripey pants really make these stand out for me. Good job!

Nice nice, scheme is great... if there pirates should'nt they have trucks like ships... like i dunno, looted dark eldar raiders. what better then looting ships, that are "SHIPS", from and army that foccuses on fast hit and run raids. of course with orks it would be more hit and hit but yea. just an idea

Ey boyz! I played my second game as da blue rippas today and won! It was a 1000 pnt match and I tabled him, footsloged all of my army against crons and beat um, also got some more paint today, so some more new colors on da boyz. Also working on some more boyz tonight hopefully.

Might want to try to model up some Gaff hooks for some of your boyz; Cutlasses, boarding axes, gaff hooks, all those are very piratey.

Also, maybe look into getting some flintlock pistols- the eldar weapons might do well for that sort of look. Bonus because many flintlock weapons were designed to club people with after they'd been shot anyways.

Well its been quite a while since I last posted on dis here ork blog, so I will do it while I'm sitting here reading my book while I'm on duty and there's no one here, Dead Men Walking is a good book by the way, but it will be brief. I've been working on painting as many orks as I can in my off time and am finishing my guardsmen as well, but da boyz needed some more work. I've gotten a lot more experience in painting now and am making good progress on the lot of boys, here are a few pics and more will be up later, their from my phone so their not the best of pictures, but I tried.
