Hey guys,

This might not be the typical way of "weathering", but just an added element to an overall weathering theme.

Cat

Please comment here or on youtube if these tips help,

Cheers,

I like it but. Is there anyway you could find one with using paints? Like painting chips and mud/gore. Would help for my battlewagons

Yup, you can just use paints, that will be a future tutorial

And gore
Don't forget that. I usually get a brush and flick it outward in a star shape theb highlight then varnish. Works well IMO just wondering if there is better. And I need a paint mudding technique anyway thanks

Excellent tutorial, cant'wait to try it on my (still to be assembled) rhino!

BTW, I use an old toothbrush, red and cahos black to add gore effect, it's quick and the results are decent, at least for my painting standards.

Example below:

Not bad

Mine looks more cartoon-esk. But then again I painted it. Two years ago. I'm think I could get a better result now. Anyway Im going to do this on my Battlewagon.

Alright Cat, you astound me with each tutorial you put out. You manage to create amazing effects with fairly simple techniques. Add that in with a great format to your tutorial vids and it makes you my go-to source for new stuff.

Thanks for the vid, and if I get the chance to try this I will ASAP!

This looks amazing! Do you think you could achieve a snow look with this technique? Perhaps fine sand and white paint?

Thanks Candroth! Please share your results if you do apply this technique!

Thanks so much Advent, and Creedy goodiness, I am not sure if that would work with a snow effect? I haven't done ANYTHING with the space wolves I bought, so when I get around to them....hummmmm.... maybe a snow tutorial

Very nice. I achieve similar effects using a product called Folkart Texture paint. it comes in 10 colors including dark brown and grey which would be good for the snow effect mentioned earlier and I'm sure a can of red would make excellent gore effects followed with a red and black wash.It comes in a 4 oz can. Its very thick so applying it with a brush is simple but you can also use a Popsicle stick to apply it like a paste. It dries fast and hard. After its dry I apply a drybrush or a khaki color and a wash of devlan mud. It is sold at most Arts and Crafts stores that carry Folkart paints. I also use for fast and easy movement trays and for rapid basing ( before the mini is glued to the base is best).

Here's what it looks like on my vehicles:

Wonderful Tutorial.

Bty what is the name of the soundtrack and musician you are using for your video Catattafish? Wonderful stuff all around!

Adam's Motto: Paint, Create, Play, but above all, have fun. -and for something silly below-

"We are the Ultramodrines, And We Shall Fear No Trolls. bear this USR with pride".

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?

The ONE thing that stands out to me is the ramp, if like the tow rope was being used wouldn't it also be mudded up?

Otherwise a superbly fantastic tutorial and I can't wait to do it to my battlewagon.

You are absolutely correct about the ramp. My very first Rhino I did mud up the ramp but what I found was it made it somewhat difficult to close and stuff so this time I didn't mudd the ramp. Good point though!

Thanks Catattafish! I will try this on my IG fleet...or at least 10 of them...or until I go brain dead working on so many vehicles.

The tutorial is very professionally done. I especially appreciate the added text and the music.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.
