Hi this is a new blog for me which will be for all the little projects I do and any odd miniatures I pick up along the way that look interesting to paint.

I wanted to keep this separate from my main blog which is linked in my sig to keep it on track with my Chaos Space Marine 40k army.

I won’t be posting miniatures here very often so there won’t be many updates, I will use this blog to give myself a break from painting the chaos hordes every now and then and to experiment with different painting and basing techniques.

Here’s the first miniature that I painted over the weekend Karandras, The Shadow Hunter. I’ve never liked or understood why GW painted their Scorpions green. So I decided to paint him in more darker/sinister colours. I also wanted to try out a muddy base effect after reading the Death Korps of Krieg - Muddy Times blog by doubleT, I like my minis in unusual surroundings I feel it makes them more interesting.

Here he is

I hope you like him.

I'll give it a go at the weekend but I'm not sure it will be much better as he really is as dark as the second picture.

It might take away the shadow from his mid section though.

Here's my latest mini that I picked up off ebay from Hordes, Master Tormentor Morghoul of the Skorne faction.

I quite enjoyed painting this one even though there was a lot of metallic paint involved which I find very tedious to paint with. The amount of detail on the mini was quite amazing compared to some of the GW miniatures, this is the first none GW mini I've probably ever painted (apart from a Gamezone mini in my other thread!).

I'm going to look at maybe picking up some more Hordes minis and seeing what they are like, I've no idea what I'm going to do with them yet though as I don’t have a cabinet so I may look at selling them when I have a few painted up same with anything else in this thread. I'm not sure if my painting is good enough yet though so some thoughts on this would be cool.

I'm also going to look at some other non GW ranges like Infinity, Malifaux, Hell Dorado and Sedition Wars.

Well here’s the pics, let me know what you think.

That is beautiful! How did you do the red on the skirt? It's so hard to make red pop like that!

Hi logg_frogg its just two colours as follows, both from Vallejo.

From black undercoat
70% Chaos Black 30% Heavy Red (GW Mechrite Red) but leave outside rim and deep recesses black.
40% Chaos Black 60% Heavy Red paint raised areas
Heavy Red final highlight on the edge of the raised areas.

Hi

I painted this one up for a painting competition I can't remember for which site though at the moment. I chose to do this mini as it was good practice for painting flesh which is something I've not done in a long time.

Finally got round to picking up some gloss varnish to finish the tile effect on the Sumo.

Here he is all finished off.

Some nice looking minis here. Especially like that Skorne Tormentor, very nice, and the red is fantastic, especially for just four shades.

Cheers monkeytroll.

My next mini project is having issues at the moment, I've spent two months trying to glue her arms on. They just don't fit the model, drives me mad lol

The next mini project for me which I'm currently working is my cyber Grot for Waaagh Dakka .

The little fella arrived in the post today looking like this.

I cut his hand off and filled down the rest of the arm so it was all one level to make it look like a bionic arm. I then attached an inferno pistol to replace his lost hand.

Next I drilled a few holes and added some trusty wire stuff from Zinge Industries.

The painting began

I still have quite a bit work left, his toes, baseing and what will be the hardest part hazard stripes. They will be going across his face as war paint, I'm going to try and do a nice smear effect down the middle and matching mark on the back of his hand.

There's a 90% chance I will bodge this but we shall see.

Yours is the Grot that controls all the other grots cyber parts lol or he could be a matrix grot!

Thanks Gits, the hazard strips will make or break him tomorrow. I'm not at all confident on doing those.

Don't worry the great thing about paint is that you can paint over it again

Also something I forgot to mention, I sold my first painted mini on ebay today the Hordes, Master Tormentor Morghoul towards the start of this blog. I'm well happy someone thought it was worth bidding on, just hope they didn't buy it to strip it!

Top hazard stripes. Adds, somehow, to the deranged Gremlin like quality.
