Prologue

Moscovia was a mining world located deep within the Eastern Fringe. For years it had provided the Imperium an abundant supply of ores essential to production of ammunition. Unfortunately, Moscovia’s vast resources and close proximity to the Damocles Gulf also made it a prime target for the technologically advance Tau Empire. The Tau snuck an envoy of water castes into Moscovia’s capital. An agreement was made between Lord Gareth, Moscovian’s corrupt governor, and the Tau diplomats. Lord Gareth contracted a large shipping company to deliver minerals to a hidden off world satellite. From there rogue traders, hired by the Tau, exchanged Tau goods for the minerals. Rogue traders transported the minerals back to the Tau and collected their payment.

For years the secret trade between the two systems went unnoticed by the Adeptus Ministorum and the watchful eye of the Inquisition. However, recent defeat against the Tau Empire on the mining world Taros leads to investigations on similar mining planets close to the Tau Empire. Sure enough, Inquisitor Lord Antonio found evidence that the Moscovian governor was guilty of heresy. Inquisitor Lord demanded the Ministorum to send an Armada with Imperial Guard Regiments and establish martial law over the rogue planet. Unfortunately, the defeat on the Taros had took a tremendous toll in resources. There were also reports of Tyranid activity elsewhere in the Eastern Fringe, making Moscovia a lower priority.

Without Ministorum aid, Lord Antonio turned to Canoness Dianus, leader of a militant order of the Adepta Sororitas known as the Order of Faith, and his good friend Magos Explorator Omar from the Adeptus Mechanicus. Together they arrested Governor Lord Gareth and conducted a witch-hunt for Tau sympathizers. It wasn’t long before the Tau struck back.

On the ground, Sisters and Planetary Defense Force, still loyal to the Imperial creed, waged war against Tau ground forces. In space, the Mechanicus fleet and the black ship Eternal engaged Tau ships. The battle stagnated on both fronts with neither side gaining the upper hand.

Half a year passed since the war began. Unbeknownst to the two factions, a third slowly crept towards Moscovia. The rumored Tyranid threat was real.

The first signs of the Tyranid invasion started with disruption in the Astropathic Choir. In the beginning, Lord Antonio thought it was a new weapon employed by the Tau to cut off communications. But later on, many Astropaths within the Imperial fleet began having seizures and babbling unintelligently about the “shadow I the warp”. Magos Omar was suspicious and sent several reconnaissance ships toward the outer frontiers of the Eastern Fringe. His worst nightmares were confirmed. A Tyranid Hive fleet had crept into the Moscovian system and was a week from reaching Moscovia. The Tau had also detected the incoming threat. Both sides agreed to a temporary cease-fire and preparations were made for the incoming Tyranid invasion.

Without the Astrophathic Choir, Inquisitor Lord Antonio couldn’t make contact with the Imperial Navy. He entrusted one of agents to leave Moscovia aboard the black ship Eternal and send word for reinforcements.

.....

In space, Mechancis and Tau fleets defended Moscovia from the lesser bio-ship, but they couldn’t stop the Tyranid Hive Ship. The behemoth living vessel made orbit and planted its tendrils on the planet’s surface. The sky darkened as spores rained from the sky. Soon the Moscovian surface morphed. The Tyranid infestation rooted deep, sucking life out of the planet. Large bio pools began to form as ripper swarms began eating away ate the planet’s surface.

Near a tendril, a large knot of tissue began to form. It rapidly expanded, growing bigger and fatter. Finally after reaching titanic height, it hatched, giving birth to a Hierophant biotitan. The immense creature towered over the battlefield. It scuttled across the northern continent, heading straight towards Moscovia’s capital. It leveled cities, towns, and anything that got in its way. Following it was a living swarm of predators, engineered for war.

Without adequate resources to deal with a planet wide invasion, Canoness Dianus ordered her forces to barricade major cities and defend against the invaders until they receive reinforcements from the Imperial Navy. She personally took charge in the defense of the Moscovian capital. In response to the Hierophant biotitan, Magos Omar sent one of his greatest assets, a Warhound Scout titan. Armed with dual Turbo-laser destructors, it could annihilate super heavies and gargantuan creatures with ease. But whether it could fend off the largest class of Tyranid biotitans known to date remained to be seen.

jy2’s battle report featuring 9000pts Apocalypse - Tyranids vs Witch Hunters (4500 pts per side): http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/371805.page

.....

Canoness Dianus gasp in horror as she watch the Heirophant biotitan fired its massive biocannons into the torso of the Warhound Titan. Bio missiles penetrated its front hull, and exploded within. Seconds the Warhound’s massive bulk collapse in a deafening boom, causing the ground to shake.

With the destruction of the Warhound titan, the Heirophant roars in triumph and precede to lay waste to the rest of the Sister heavy support. Its massive pincers crushed Sisters Exorcist like they were aluminum cans.

“Canoness,” voxs in the Warhound’s Princep, “I regret to inform you our Titan is in critical state. I wish to make one last request.”

“Go on,” said Dianus.

“One of our guns is still active. My crew and I will draw fire from the Tyranid. During that time, pull back your forces past the city’s perimeter. We will trigger our Titan’s reactor and take out the bulk of the Tyranid force.”

Dianus felt a tight knot form her heart. She was taken back by the Princep’s noble sacrifice.

“May your soul live on to fight by the Emperor’s side,” she replied.

.....

Fifteen minutes outside the capital, a giant flash lit up the sky. Seconds later a deafening boom blast across the landscape, followed by a massive shockwave. The Princep had triggered a chain reaction inside the Titan’s reactor core, causing the huge explosion. For a few seconds, Dianus could only sea sparkles and stars. Here eye adjust and in the distance she could make out orange glow in the backdrop of a giant black mushroom cloud.

“At last,” she thought, “the Heirophant biotitan is destroyed, along with the rest of the Tyranid menace.”

A high pitch scream interrupts Dainus’s train of thoughts. She magnified her binoculars. Within the center of the blast stood the bulk of the Hierophant wailing in agony. The intense heat flayed its thick armor and burns its flesh underneath.

Dianus curse. Despite being blind and deaf, the biotitan still live and would probably regenerate for the next few days before it return to the battlefield.

Just then a quiet whine fills the air. From the sky, six stars drew a line, forming a constellation. One of the star’s luminosity grew, and with it the audible buzz. Dianus switched on her binoculars sun filter and focus just below the brightest star. She gasps. Underneath it was an Eldar Fire Prism receiving a stream of light from the other five stars. Upon further inspection, Dianus discover individual Fire Prisms powering each star. The audible whine crescendos and finally reaches its climax. A beam as bright as the sun shot straight towards the Hierophant. A kaleidoscope of colors engulfs the biotitan before erasing it from existence.

“Canoess Dianus, do you read me?” asks Inquisitor Lord Antonio over the vox.

“This is Dianus, reporting in,” she replied in a shaky tone.

“I just received a message from our xeno friends,” said Antonio. “Farseer Ava and the Tau commander wishes to form a coalition against the Tyranid threat. What says you?”

Dianus thought it over for a few minutes. She didn’t know if the Tyranids would spawn more Hierophants. The Eldar had just shown they were quite capable of taking out a Tyranid biotitan. She didn’t know why the Eldar bothered helping out. Perhaps the Farseer foresaw great tragedy for her people and the only way to stop it was by defeating the Tyranids here and now.

“As much as I hate siding with xenos, I see no other alternative,” concludes Dianus, “The Tyranid invasion must be stopped. We will join this blasphemous coalition until Imperial reinforcements arrives.”

.....

jy2 and I finished playing another apocalypse game. This was our fourth apocalypse game. So far I have lost the first three games. This time jy2 and I agreed not to field any super heavies or gargantuan creatures. We also agreed no cross codex, so Eldrad’s psychic powers wouldn’t benefit any non-Eldar units and none of the Tau or Eldar units wouldn’t benefit from Book of St. Lucius. Also, infantry from one army cannot embark in transports of another army.

In our last game jy2 used the “Eye of the Hive” formation. Part of the formation allowed him a free Strategic Asset in the next game if he won, which he did. For this game, jy2 chose the “Careful Planning” asset, allowing half of his reserves to come in on Turn 1 and the other half to come in on Turn 2.

Setting

The table was a little bigger than the standard 6’ x 4’. It was modeled off a luscious verdant world, an ideal target for a Tyranid invasion. jy2 and I took turns placing objectives. Two objectives were placed in the opposite corners while the remaining four were placed squarely in the middle.

Table setup with no mans land bisecting the middle.

Four middle objectives

Coalition’s objective

Tyranid’s objective

Deployment

I bid 8 minutes to setup, but jy2 beat me with 4 minutes setup. jy2 goes first.

jy2 deploys all his Hive Tyrants, Zoanthrope, Venomthrope, Tyranid Warriors with Tyranid Prime attach, Hive Guards, and Biovores behind two large squads of Hormagaunts across the table. Everything else stays in reserves.

Tyranid deployment

I deploy all my vehicles, Crisis Suits, and the Avatar in my quarter. I was only able to put down a single Kroot squad before I ran out of time.

Take note that all my Wave Serpents are proxy as Fire Prisms and all my Falcons are proxy as Wave Serpents.

Coalition deployment

Designated Canoness and Inquisitor Lord Immolators.

Designated Eldrad Wave Serpent.

Turn 1 (Tyranids):

Thanks to “Careful Planning” strategic asset, three Tyrgon Primes, two Mawlocs, and two Genestealer squads makes a surprise appearance from reserves on turn 1.

First pack of Genestealers squeeze between a Fire Prism and an Exorcist, making a beeline towards the Hammerheads.

Second Genestealer pack outflanks from the left and swarms around a Fire Dragon Wave Serpent.

First Mawloc deep strikes in the back. The center of the large blast scatters near the edge of the table and hits the command Fire Prism. The subterranean monster shakes fire Prism’s crew. Because it can’t fit completely on the large blast without going off the board, the Mawloc suffers a mishap. jy2 rolls a ‘2’, destroying the Mawloc.

The Second Mawloc is more fortunate. It pops up underneath a Hammerhead and wrecks it.

Three Trygon Primes pop up near the Coalition’s front line. The rest of the Tyranids scuttle forward.

All three Tyranid Warrior squads attempt Synaptic Mastery psychic power from the “Eye of the Hive” formation. If they passed their psychic tests, all Tyranid units within 12” of them benefits from Catalyst (feel no pain) and preferred enemy. Fortunately Eldrad combined with Witch Hunter psychic hood foils all three psychic tests.

All three Tyrgon Primes fires their Containment Spines (18” Str5 AP5 Assault 12) into the Canoness’s Immolator. Electricity surges, frying the Immolator’s circuits, immobilizing it.

Hive Guards fires their Imapaler Cannons into Inquisitor Lord’s Immolator. High velocity spines punches through its side hull. The transport explodes, burning one henchman to death.

All nine Biovores unleash a barrage of spore mines on the expose Inquisitor Lord and his henchmen. Two henchmen are flattened while the Inquisitor Lord loses a wound.

Hive Guards destroys a Dominion Immolator with their Impaler Cannons.

Another Hive Guard squad adds to the tally and another Dominion Immolator bites the dust.

In assault, Genestealers multi-charges two Hammerheads, a Fire Prism, and an Exorcist. Because they haven’t move, the Genestealers auto hits.

They easily tear through armor, blowing up the command Hammerhead and wrecking the other. Deadly shrapnel flies everywhere, mutilating three Genestealers and one Kroot. Despite penetrating the Fire Prism five times, its Holofields emits a protective shield. It suffers crew shaken and weapon destroyed. Exorcist comes out a little scratched, but unscathed.

Genestealers multi assaults Crisis Suits, Immolator, and Wave Serpent.

Both vehicles are wreck. Crisis Suits manage to kill one Genestealer. Unfortunately they pass their moral test, saving the Genestealers from Coalition shooting.

Turn 1 (Coalition):

Wow, what a great way to begin a game. I just lost three Hammerheads, four Immolators, and one Wave Serpent. On top of that, one of my Fire Prisms is shaken and the other suffered weapons destroy.

I learn painfully last game how dangerous Hive Guards can be in prolong shooting. They will be a high priority target.

Eldrad Dooms a Trygon with misfortune and Guide a squad of Fire Dragons with better shooting.

Kroots and Crisis Suits pulls back to deal with the Genestealer infestation. Fire Dragons and Sisters command squad reinforces the front lines in response to the newly arrived Trygon Primes. One Dominion squad over extends in the middle towards a Hive Guard squad.

One of the Crisis Suits leaps out of terrain and lands hard (fails dangerous terrain test), losing a wound in the process.

Combine shooting from Sister command squad, Fire Dragons, and Exorcist finishes turns all three Trygon Primes into bubbling goo of bio waste. Each Trygon leaves a giant hole (note cards) for subterranean assault.

Dominions use their Meltaguns to barbeques the Hive Guards.

Fire Prisms lands a strength D large blast, annihilating a couple of warriors, Hive Guard, and Hormagaunts.

Crisis Suits and Wave Serpent guns down 4 Genestealers

Avatar flings his Wailing Doom sword, scoring a wound on the Mawloc. He then assaults, but trips, and inflicts only a single wound while taking none in return.

Genestealers rends the Crisis Suits into pieces.

Kroots assault Genestealers. Five Genestealers and six Kroots die in the melee. Kroots lose combat and fail their moral test. They attempt to break off, but the nimble Genestealers catches them in sweeping advance.

Turn 2 (Tyranids):

The rest of jy2’s reserves come in. Last Trygon Prime deep strikes near my objective.

Genestealers pops in near the Sisters command squad. A Mycetic Spore deep strikes near my left flank. Doom of Malan’tai emerges.

All three Tyranid Warrior squads attempts to use Synaptic Mastery psychic power. Only the middle squad succeeds.

Hordes of Termagants use subterranean assault. They pop up where the Trygon Primes use to be.

Hormagaunts and Tyranid Warriors surround a group of Dominions.

Second pack of Hormagaunts and a Hive Tyrant surrounds a second group of Dominions.

Termagant squad and Malanthrope scuttles in from the Tyranid board edge. They secure Tyranid’s objective.

During the shooting phase, Biovores sprinkle spore mines on top of Fire Dragons. They succeed in wiping out a whole squad and 2 Celestians, but accidentally kill their own Genestealers in the process.

Doom of Malan’tai uses spirit leech and sucks the life out of Crisis suits.

Tyranid Warriors picks off a couple of Dominions

Genestealers multi-assault Sisters command squad, Fire Dragons, and Crisis Suits.

They kill all but the Inquisitor Lord and Sisters command squad.

Genestealers multi-assault Dominions, Fire Dragons, and Crisis Suits.

They slay all but the Dominions. Dominions successfully break from combat and fall back two inches.

Avatar hacks and slash. He scores two more wounds on the Mawloc while taking none in return.

Hormagaunts and Tyranid Warriors slams into the Dominions. All three Dominions are crush.

Hormagaunts and Hive Tyrand wipes out another Dominion squad.

Turn 2 (Coalition):

Payback time!

Five Kroot squads outflank onto jy2’s board edge.

Eldrad fortunes his and another Wave Serpent.

Both Wave Serpents and weaponless Fire Prism turbo boosts into the Tyranid swarm.

One of the Exorcists fails its dangerous terrain test.

Crisis Suits leap forward. Quad flamer Dominions disembark near Genestealers.

A second quad flamer Dominion squad disembarks near Termagants.

At the beginning of the my shooting phase, Doom of Malan’tai foils my plans by sucking the life out of all five Dominions near the Genestealers.

Combined shooting from Exorcists in the back blows the newly arrived Trygon Prime to smithereens.

Dominions unleash an inferno. Twenty-seven Termagants perish. It would have been a lot more if it weren’t for Catalyst from Tyranid Warrior’s special “Eye of the Hive” formation.

Both Wave Serpents hits the afterburners. Using their Star Engines, they move 12” forward.

Exorcist fires a single rocket. It hits and instantly kills the Doom of Malan’tai (fail its 3++).

Fire Prisms combine their prismatic crystals and form one giant laser beam. It decimates a squad of Hive Guards hiding inside ruins.

Crisis Suits fire their Missile Pods and pick off a few Hive Guards in the middle.

In assault, two Kroots squad charges into the Malanthrope and two other Kroot squads assault the Termagants. Malanthrope kills 5 Kroots before being torn to pieces. Termagants kill 2 Kroots before getting wiped out.

Canoness miraculously survives with a single wound. She stubbornly passes her leadership test and continues fighting to the bitter end.

Avatar roars in triumph as he finally finish the Mawloc.

Turn 3 (Tyranids):

Without the Inquisitor Lord, all three Tyranid Warrior successfully past their psychic test for Mastery Synaptic, granting Catalyst and Preferred enemy to all Tyranid units within 12”.

Thanks to endless warm special rule, a full squad of Termagants returns from reserves.

The rest of the Tyranids reacts to the newly arrived Kroots.

Hormagaunts lunge toward Dominions.

Termagants swarm towards an Exorcist

Biovores inflict heavy damage on the Kroots. One squad is pinned.

Hive Tyrant, and Tyranid Warriors shoots point blank at the two Wave Serpents, but to no effect.

Left Hive Guards shoots and hits immobilize an Exorcist.

Mycetic Spore wraps its tentacles around an Immolator. It tears off the vehicle’s treads and shakes the crew.

In assault, Termagants batter an Exorcist, but only manage to shake it.

Canoness drowns in a sea of talons. Genestealers consolidate.

Hive Tyrant flips a Wave Serpent into wreckage.

Genestealers penetrate a Fire Prism. Once again, the Holofield saves. Fire Prism’s grav engines is damage and the Eldar skimmer becomes immobilize.

Hormagaunts smashes into a squad of Kroots.

Kroots are eaten alive. None survives.

Tyranid Warriors assault both Exorcists. Left Exorcist suffers engine damage. Right Exorcist loses its weapon.

Dominions weather out assault.

Turn 3 (Coalition):

The rest of the Kroots arrive from reserves.

Two squads of Kroots reinforce the first wave.

Eldrad’s Wave Serpent hides behind terrain next to the Biovores. Weaponless Fire Prism takes its place.

Two Kroot squads ambush Genestealers. Dominions flees 4” towards the board edge and barely makes it.

Shaken Exorcist speed toward an objective.

Combined shooting from Crisis Suit and Kroots from behind the Fire Prisms kills all but two Genestealers.

Fire Prisms combine charges their lasers into one giant death ray. A 7” strength D blast wipes an entire Tyranid Warrior squad in the middle.

Kroots pick off a Biovore hiding inside a forest.

Two Kroot squads near the Tyranid’s objective rapid fire and decimate twenty-two Termagants. Fortunately for me, they pass their moral test or else they would have run off the board and return in full strength thanks to endless swarm.

Kroots and Avatar assault Genestealers…

and wipes them out.

A Crisis team jumps in the assault phase, but I roll snake eyes. One suit dies causing a moral test, which they also fail.

Hormagaunts hacks a few Dominions to pieces.

Turn 4 (Tyranids):

Tyranids moves and claim middle objectives.

Hormagaunts rushes to defend their home objective.

Tyranid Warriors climb over Exorcist wreckage.

Biovores concentrate on the Kroots. Unfortunately, one of the blasts scatters and kills a Termagant. Without nearby synapse, Termagants fails their pinning test.

Kroots fail their moral test and fallback. Fortunately this takes them out of Hormagaunts' assault range.

Hive Tyrant riddles the weaponless Fire Prism’s rear with parasite worms and stuns the crew.

Warriors assault the Avatar.

Avatar stumbles and inflicts one wound. Tyranid Warriors ravishes the Eldar monster, leaving it with one wound left.

Hormagaunts finish off Dominions.

Hormagaunts jumps on top of the pinned Kroots and buries them.

Genestealers sprang on top of the Exorcist. However, they all fumble their attacks. The crew is shaken by the spectacular display of failure.

Turn 4 (Coalition):

Exorcist plows its way through a squad of Termagants and contests middle objective.

Eldrad's Wave Serpent flies over and contests middle objective.

Fire Prisms focus their prismatic lens into a Strength D large blast and wipes out the Hive Tyrant and his bodyguards.

Tyranid Warriors finish off Avatar in assault.

It was getting late. We decided to end the game here.

Results

Spoiler:

Kroots control Coalition’s objective

Eldrad’s Wave Serpent contests first middle objective.

Exorcist and Termagants contest second middle objective.

Lone tyranid Warrior hold a third middle objective.

Fire Prism and Hive Tyrants contests fourth middle objective.

Kroots controls Tyranid’s objective.

Coalition controls 2 objectives while Tyranids control 1 objective.

Outcome: Victory for the Coalition!

Picture of the aftermath.

Afterthoughts:

Spoiler:
I had a rough start. jy2's sneaky asset resulted in me losing almost a third of my vehicles on turn 1. The Trygon and endless swarm combo was amazing. After killing an entire squad of Termagants at the bottom of turn 2 and having them come back at the top of turn 3, I realized I should avoid wiping out Termagant or Hormagaunt squads.

Having my Kroots arrive from reserves on turn 2 and turn 3 saved me the game. 9 Biovores wasn't enough to take out 100 Kroots and 50 Kroot Hounds.

I'm glad I took Eldrad and Witch Hunter Inquisitor Lord with psychic hood. It helped a lot in shutting down the "Eye of the Hive" formation Synaptic Mastery, which proved devastating in the last game apocalypse game.

The "Sun Storm" formation was a lot of fun. jy2 was extremely frustrated with my Holofield Fire Prisms. Too bad I never got a chance to use the 10" strength D blast.

Overall, I think jy2's weakness was lack of anti-tank ranged shooting. After picking off his Hive Guards, my vehicles were free to contest middle objectives.

Good game jy2.

Epilogue

.....

Farseer Ava let out a sigh of relief. The Doom of Malan’tai was blown to bits, thanks to the Imperial monkeigh’s heavy support. Disaster she had envisioned was thwarted, saving thousands of Eldar lives. Losing a few aspect warriors and the Avatar was a small price compared to losing an entire Craftworld.

“Farseer,” informs a Wave Serpent pilot, “one of the monkeighs wishes to establish communication.

“Proceed,” Ava orders.

A holographic image display a female monkeighs dress in white armor stain with blood and alien ichors.

“Before we renew our conflict, I would like to extend my gratitude for helping me and my Sisters defeat the Tyranids,” said Canoness Dianus.

“On the contrary, you did my Craftworld a big favor by taking out the Doom of Malan’tai,” replies Ava.

“I’ve been informed that the Tau are withdrawing from Moscovia. It appears they suffered heavy losses during the Tyranid invasion and lack resources to continue their campaign.”

“Which leaves us Eldar as the sole threat to your domain?”

“Precisely.”

Ava bursts out laughing.

Confused, Dianus frowns and ask, “What’s so funny Eldar witch?”

Ava took a deep breath and recompose herself.

“Do you think we Eldar have any interests in this despicable monkeighs world?”

Dianus’s face lit up with hope. She asks, “So now that the battle is over, you are leaving?”

“Yes, but you’ll be disappointed if you think this is the last time you’ll see me.”

Before Dianus could reply, Ava cut off communications.

A large portal cracks open. One by one, each Eldar skimmers floats and disappears into shimmering portal. Once Ava’s Wave Serpent enters, the portal collapses, leaving little trace of the Eldar.

“Great,” thought Canoness Dianus, “how am I going to explain all of this to the Imperial reinforcements?”

Nice report. Table seems a bit cramped for such a game, though... I'm reluctant to play Apoc on less than 6x8.

@Lindsay40k

In our previous Apoc game, we played on a regular 6'x4' and found it a little too cramped. This game we played on a bigger 6'x6' table. For 12K, it is also slightly on the cramped side. Next game, depending on points, we may have to go 6'x8'.

Though in all fairness, most of the action took place on just half of the board. Tends to end up that way when 1 army is aggressively advancing and the other defending.

@SabrX

Great game. You had a good combo army. Eldar addresses the lack of mobility that your sisters army has as well as provided extra firepower. Tau adds much needed ranged firepower (too bad you didn't get to try out your ion cannons) as well as mobility/assault in the kroot units. Overall, it's a tough combo.

After turn 1, you were really concerned considering the damage that I did to your vehicles with my outflanking genestealers. But then I just couldn't kill those holofielded fire prisms and your kroots came into my unprotected backfield. That helped to swing the momentum in your favor.

I made several mistakes in the game. The endless swarm was supposed to die so that they could respawn. However, it made them a little too hard to die with FNP from my Eye of the Hive formation. Only 1 unit respawned and then you realized that you didn't want to kill off the entire unit. Without FNP, probably another 2 squads would have died and came back to help defend my objective.

Also, I should have entered 2 units of termagants along my board edge to screen out your outflanking kroots (instead of just 1). I was a little too eager to have them come out of my trygon holes that I should have thought about my tactics a little more.

Finally, we went up in points from 4.5K to 6K, yet my shooting went down. I had less hive guards and no bio-titan cannons and you had more vehicles than before. I was giving assault nids a try, but I may go back to shooty nids the next time we play.

Anyways, the next time we go Apoc, you'll probably face my grey knights. Then my vendreads and your holofielded fire prisms can have a good trying to kill each other.

My point is this, in apoc over 10k you should almost always have a 6x8 table. I haven't played a single game at this point value but have seen other play it... it is just staggering as to how many models can be fielded with so many points (a true "fluffy" ork waaaagh being one of em)

Thanks for the feed back folks!

This was my first time posting an apocalypse battle report. I'm glad many of you enjoyed reading it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

Expanding the board size helped a lot compared to the last apocalypse battle report. The Mawlocs weren't as devastating.

@jy2:

Yeah, thinking back, FNP Endless Swarm Termagants was counter productive.

By the time they arrived, your Biovores and Genestealers had already destroyed most of my non-Kroot infantry. Unfortunately the way reserves work in Apoc forces them out.

I'm not sure whether blocking out your board edge would have made a difference in the outcome. My Kroot would have reinforce my objective and my Holofield Fire Prisms would have been more aggressive in contesting your objectives. Plus, Eldrad in fortune Wave Serpent would have most likely contested your objective.

In hindsight, I should have blocked off my entire board edge during deployment. Those Genestealers definitely deserve MVP for the Tyranid side.

As for the Coalition, I think the Kroots deserve the MVP. I wouldn't have won the game without them.

@Grenat:

Apocalypse games against jy2 are always intense! He's an excellent general and builds strong lists with good synergy.

Great game! I was cheering for the Coalition every step of the way, and each turn was fairly tense. I was surprised by the amount of Kroot the Tau had, but given how many of them you were able to outflank, it seemed that choice paid off.

Great background, great report, and its always nice to see an Apoc game with painted models. Well done.

Thanks! Most of my time is spent writing the story. The report itself is easy.

With rumors that Sisters are getting their new codex via White Dwarf August, I'll need to speed up my battle reports. I still have 7 waiting on the afterburners.

Wow, good job pulling a victory out of the jaws of defeat, the whole time I thought you were screwed! It's too bad for the Nids that they ended up losing all their Trygon Primes, that really hurt their anti-tank ability.
