Just a place for me to post all the various stuff I've been working on, conversions or FW kits and the like. So, let's kick it off with a couple of Ork vehicles.

Nice segway Killa Kan! Although it does kind of conflict with it being a walker and all >.>

There have been segways done before but they were all with the older metal model. Don't know how manyhave used the new one.

I posted this Grey Seer conversion in another thread but I'm including it here, too, because it's something I recently worked on.

Some more Ork goodness. I finished the Mega Dred I was working on. I had to pin the arms on because I felt they were too weak to just hold there with superglue. I built the Deff Dred in a few hours and put it in for size comparison.

Nice work. I like the Grey Seer quite a bit. Also the KillaKan looks cool with wheels and that exhaust pipe.

I love using big tall exhaust pipes on Ork vehicles. If you look at the top pic, you'll notice one just in front of the driver side door. FW didn't set their kit up to use one so I had to glue it on. Should you look underneath, you'll see that it doesn't actually connect to anything.

As for my next project, I'll be putting together the FW Ork Halftrack. I'm going to use the standard wheels for the front instead of the FW ones because I really don't like the plated wagon wheel look.

I noticed the additional exhaust pipe on the enclosed cab Trukk

Those plated wagon wheels on the Halftrack are actually bigger than standard wheels due to the size of the tracks - what are you planning to do so your standard wheels don't look like they are hanging in the air?

Have fun with the tracks too - I found them very fiddly!

The Mega Dread is one of the new range of almost worth it and so tempting Forgeworld models. Really enjoy the daftness of the Wheeled Kan as well

Another day, another trukk.

This time we have the Ork Halftrak that I mentioned previously. I used the large truckk wheels for the front and it was still a little wobbly so I had to put some plasticard as a spacer where the axel joins the trukk frame to give the wheels better contact with the table. I also put the exhaust pipe on the gunner's side this time. I really wish Forge World would take that into account when doing their kits.

Next item up is a Skaven Doomwheel. I don't know if I'll post pictures of that or not because I can't finish assembly until it's painted due to how the model is designed.

Tiny update. I built about 20 Bret M@A and 20 Empire Free Company guys. I only had 16 EFC bodies so I put in a full command and used an extra body from somewhere else to fill it out to a useable unit size. I took a pic but it turned out too dark. It's all good though, just blocks of infantry so no big loss.

Here are some Ogres that I built in preparation for the new army book.

The Seattle Battle Bunker is having a "Hobby Apocalypse" where the staff will basecoat your models for you or help assemble them should you desire (and as long as they're not helping customers). So I'm having them basecoat my Skaven. They did a quick spray of Talaran Flesh to start with. More colors to follow.

Bonus points to whomever can figure out how many IoB sets had to be cracked to get this many rats - BUT only as long as you don't look at the Rat Ogres or Weapons Teams.

So, it's been a little bit since I last posted in this thread. Since my last post, I've been finishing my Necrons. What you see is my entire force (sad as it is) except for Scarabs that is. Given the way I base my Necrons, they're going to take awhile.

Anyway, here are the pics:

I had some time on my hands over the past weekend and since both my FW order and GW direct came in at the same time, I decided to start putting stuff together.

Here is a Hunter I made using the body of a Bull, the leftover Hunter bits from the Thundertusk kit and the Standard Bearer arm. I'm really liking the way I basically got two great models out of that kit. A lot more value than what you get from stuff like the Grey Knights kits, imo.

Well, it's been a bit since I've updated this thread, so i'll post something cool. I purchased a Forge World Phantom Titan and am going to convert it to a Dark Eldar Phantom Titan. The Titan came in today so I need to make a supply run for brass rod and think styrene sheets. I also need to get something for the base. I dislike the wood things so many people seem keen on putting their Titans on but I've no idea where to get acrylic or plexiglas ovals in a 9"x12" oval. I'll figure something out. In any event, here are the bags consolidated into Arms & Weapons, Head & Torso, and Legs & Feet. I still can't get over how complicated the legs and feet are.

Wow. I've been significantly remiss in updating this thread. So many skaven to paint, so much Diablo III to waste away my life with, so much... well, you get the point.

So, while I've been wasting time trying to hunt down the paint I need to finish my Skaven, I thought I'd make up for my lack of updates and show you what I've been up to this weekend.

STORMRAVEN CONVERSION!!!

Yes, I'm doing a two-part conversion of the Stormraven. First is the Chapterhouse body extension for which I've got all the bits. Second is modifying the cockpit from a single pilot to a dual-seat pilot/gunner setup using bits from the Land Speeder.

You may have seen both items separately but I'm doing them in THE SAME MODEL. Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!!!

So, first up are shots of my removing the "default" cockpit from the fuselage and cutting the canopy into the proper sections.

So, after making those cutouts (I love the Dremel Stylus), and trimming up the cockpit hole in the fuseloge to be tidy, it's on to building the new cockpit.

For the new cockpit, I assembled the seat section of the Land Speeder, added the side panels from the Stormraven cockpit and finally fitted the dashboard from the Land Speeder.

First, the test fit. Nothing is actually glued to the fuseloge yet.

Do some trimming and then glue in the new cockpit and dashboard. Sorry about the focus but my phone camera kept auto-adjusting on me.

The front turrent housing needed some trimming and a cut made in order to fit onto the dashboard.

And once everything is fit together, I built the rest of the front section. Oh, the turret housing is NOT glued on. I've got to come up with some sort of magnetizing solution for the weapons first.

And that was were I stopped for the day. I'll be getting back to this next weekend, hopefully. I've skaven to paint in the meantime so I don't expect to work on this before then.

So, what do you guys think?

So, it's been a very long time for the ole workbench thread. I've spent much time painting my rats and that Space Marine force. Now, even though I actually have less time to put into the hobby, I'm actually able to get back to the hobby side of this... hobby.

One of the things I did last weekend was to convert a bunch of my Necron Warriors' guns over so they fit with the new asthetic. A quick visual tutorial is below. You need only a necron warrior kit and the guns from a Necron Ghost Ark which you can get from an online bits seller. Oh, you also need tools and glue. But you already knew that, didn't you.

So, now I have 40 of these things all bagged up and put away for that distant day when I'll be able to get to painting my Necrons.

Other hobby stuff that I've been working on include my Skorne force and converting my second necron flier to be a cylon instead of a dead Jaffa on a joyride. Here is a quick visual tutorial on doing that. You'll need a Necron flier, a bit of plasticard (I used a GW gift card), glue, and putty.

As you see, it looks a little... raw. That's because I don't have a picture of the finished thing. I'll try to remedy that for you shortly. It really makes the flier look better when it's all done and assembled.

Here is a shot of the filled and filed cockpit.

This is a shot of the Necron flier assembled.

It may not look like much with all the scrapes and such but it is smooth and will look like a million bucks when I hit it with primer.

No painting last Saturday, sadly. But I did get another Forge World kit put together. I would like to say it's done unfortunately there are some sizeable gaps that need filling. Major filling. Man, Forge World can irritate me more than Finecast at times. :/
