Ive been working on these on and off. The suspension is the heavy lifting, though Im struggling with crew compartments too. Straightening the chasis compresses the cab a bit. The cool thing about using the big tires is I have plenty of tires to make Big Gun battery's with later The wheels rotate so I can literally scoot these guys around the table My first one has rigid suspension, those to follow will be able to turn and independantly go over rough terrain. Now if I can only figure out how to get a motor on these puppies.

Well, you could either put the engine inbetween the weels or just make the truck longer! It could give it that nasty orky look

Question, are you do to anything about the weels? The rims could do with some ork pimpin!

Really nice idea!

Out of curiosity are you going to enter Arakasi's Inaugural Trukk Rally?
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/379736.page
The rules are pretty lose and the deadline is easy to handle, June 30th 2012.
Unless you just don't like competitions I think you should enter this trukk.

Big ol' trukk

Nice going, like it a lot, but are you sure it's complete?

Didn't you mention some glyph work on the wheels

I dont have the means where Im at to cut circles in plasti-card. Ill need to use some ingenuity to get the plates on the wheels - hubcaps dont have to be perfect circles. But yeah - I do need to do that. Actually - I figured it out. Ill patiently make one and use as a template for the others.

Hmm, you could use one of the wheels as a template, score the plasticard using the back of the blade so as to avoid cutting into the wheel, that should be a fairly neat circle. And as you so rightly pointed out, it doesn't need to be perfect, in fact probably better if it's not

just glue a bunch of panels to the hubs like rhino doors and other left over bits and it will make the orky look you are going for. Great job btw

I think Ill use the halves of the wrecking balls from the sprues as hub cap centers and recess the plasti-card bit a little bit inside the wheel rim - then add rivets.

I'm sorry I haven't posted on this thread yet. The trukk is looking amazing. The suspension you have rigged looks great, and the "still movable" thing is extra win... just be careful rolling over some of that terrain. It's not all made to withstand real traffic.

The canopy on the cab is brilliant, by the way. The squig riding shotgun is great too. MOAR SQUIGS FOR EVERYONE!!!

Youre right about the wear and tear on terrian - if it becomes a significant problem, Ill end up glueing the wheels in place. I think positioning and keeping them in place could be mitigated by throwing some chalk blocks into the beds and using them to fix the truck into its final movement position.

Ill keep adding new ones to the original post. Currently Im stuck looking for some original for trucks 3 and 4. I want to do roll cages. Figuring how to bend plasti-card tubing... more to follow.

I searched high and low for a link to give you. unfortunatly I do not have the article in PDF form. It came out in WD 298 (UK) and 301 (US) if you have friends that are subscribers to WD from late (NOV) 2004 or early (FEB) 2005 paper may be the only way to go. I would take pictures but Im sure the modquisiton would not appreciate a deliberate IP violation. Your only other option would be to request studio pictures of "Tank's Speed Freaks" or the article Battle Report: Desert Kidnap

These are certainly orky! (and gave me a good laugh to boot!)

How do they compare in size to a regular trukk? Do you think it will be a problem in game? (or perhaps they are just a fun build?)

Length and width are the same - its the height thats different. The good news is they are all the same general height. I think Id have a problem if I was using them as well as other normal trucks. These would block normal trucks and accusations of modeling for advantage would fly Im sure.
