There is far -far- too much complaining and negativity running through this forum. So I want to try and bring in some positive energy. What was your last purchase and what was your most satisfying?

My latest was the Khador Army Book, and to be honest other then some fluff, I don't see why I should of gotten in when the unit card tells you everything there is to know, I s'pose to show me -everything- but there is also the faction decks which I was recently made aware of and something i'd probably like more, oh well. My book shelf has room yet.

My most pleasant purchase had to of been the Chaos Terminator Lord, back when I still played 40k before I went mad and sold and rebuilt my army several times over. It was a great kit, so full of options and customization, I was only slightly unhappy at the fact i basically took the look of the model on the box, but added lighting claws. Oh well. I do like the look of many horned helmets standing tall in an army.

And I cannot help but feel pride when I take out my fully painted and based Beastmen army and take it out onto the table to play with. It took about a year to get all the models and assemble, paint and base them. And on the subject of my Beastmen, I'd like to publicly thank my best online friend and blood brother from the fjords Trondheim for generously sending me a giant and two boxes of gors as well as a movement tray. That was incredibly kind and as soon as i'm out working again, I will repay that debt.

A Lannister -always- pays his debts.

Most recently, a Necron Battleforce from Wayland Games. Not only did I get about £15 off, but I was surprised with how much I could get out of the box. I managed to get about 15 Immortals (5 + 10 converted Warriors) 7 Scarab bases, 10 Warriors and a Doomsday Ark.

The stunned looks of my opponent when I place both a Warhound and a Reaver on the table together are very satisfying indeed!

All 4 of the now OOP Elector Counts for $5 each. I've also wrangled up a 5th edition Kurt Helborg, White Wolves grandmaster($10 in metal), a metal Blazing Sun Grandmaster, and a 5th edition Thyrus Gormann.

I'm always glad to find good OOP models.

Most satisfying was probably the lot of 40k stuff I bought from a guy locally off Craigslist when he decided the game was too "childish" for him, as he started a career as a guitarist in a local bar band...

I have a HUGE list of the stuff I got, for $225.. but the prize would have been the Armorcast Warhound and the IG Parking lot (8 tanks)...

Most Recent Purchase - thanks to gbprime, I have gotten into BFG and am collecting Orks...

Thanks SilverMK2, you beat me to it

What negativity? For the most part you will find it only in the GW threads posted in the Dakka Discussions section, because generally they seem to be the only company that seems to be hell-bent on upsetting their veteran player-base as much as possible. The rest of the forum is fine

Most satisfying purchase? Hmm.. either the 2nd edition 40k boxset, the Blood Bowl boxset, Epic Space Marine (when I was younger, so was bouncing off the walls at all of that stuff!)
More recently, I would probably say either my first Infinity blister packs, as I was just so blown away by the level of detail and craftsmanship in them, and perhaps a box of Mantic Forgefathers - it felt nice to have bought some 'Space Dwarves' from new, and without getting ripped off mercilessly by 'The Essex Girl' (ebay shark who buys all squats that appear on there, then re-lists them for astronomical prices).

I'm quite happy with the last two kits I bought, an ironclad dread and 3 scout bikers. I really enjoy the dread kit. It was fun to put together, has all the options I need, and looks cool. I was surprised by the number of options and extras on the scout bikers. You could make a full 10 man squad and everyone would look unique. Fun to build, fun to paint. From a bargain standpoint I picked up a sgt. chronos mini for 70% off from my FLGS that was trying to blow out all their metal blisters.

I also recently finished up a drop pod that was glaring at me from a corner of my workbench. Those things can just die; but that's for another thread.

Funny enough, but it was my last purchase - DE Hellions box. I knew exactly, that I am going to build Baron Sathonyx and 3 beastmasters out of this kit, plus I got a discount at our local store, so instead of spending 8 x 3 pounds on three beastmasters, I spent approximately 14 pounds and got extra goodies to convert the HQ "counts as".

Looking to trade away 15mm Forged in Battle Pumas (still in the box).

GW related~
-the Ork Battlewagon Kit include the Rolla. The cost is stupid high at this point. However, my 2 wagons sit on the shelf, and they really look sharp (literally) and ork when painted up. I'm really happy with the new Ork sculpts overall including the Wagon, Killa Kans, and Dread. I think the new Trukks are death traps while assembling, but they look Orky.

Non 40K
-WMHD, the Searforge / Gorten starter which I picked up from $30 from Showcase Comics about 2 years ago. $30... caster, heavy jack, 3 light jacks. I still remember going home, assembling and priming them. raiding in WoW for 4 hours (firelands), then getting ready to goto bed and thinking why not... and painting them from primed all the way to highlights. Sleeping 2 hours, and going to a steam roller for battleboxes. My wife thought I was nuts that weekend. But total cost $40 plus tax including steam roller was a bargain.

Ebay
-6 deff koptas, 24 total ork wheels. Total cost $42. Make 6 buggies out of it with some elbow grease and know how. I don't think you can even get 6 of anything for $42 any more in GW land... minus Grots I'll post pictures when i'm done all 6.

I think my most recent purchase I feel really good about which was the Blood Vestal from Raging Heroes. I was really on the fence about them, but they all ended up being really nice, almost work free miniatures.

I think my other really feel good purchase was when the new plastic termies first came out. I bought two boxes of them, and two boxes of the assaults, and then either some of the new (at that time) flavor of the month space marine. It was either BT or DA. At the time I was really bitching up a storm about the cost of the box considering they were plastics, not metal (liking metal much better than plastic at the time). But when I got the termies I was astounded at just how well the model kits were. The level of detail, the customizability, the ease of assembly, and the fact they were bigger than normal marines. My bitchings were put aside when I postulated that I'd always paid $10 a model, and I liked these ones much better than the previous ones I had. I was happy building, and painting models for months off that buy. And at the time I bought them all from Maelstrom Games who had a huge discounting scene on eBay...I think I got like $350 for $200 after shipping...that didn't hurt either.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

My last purchase was stuff to fill out the pKrueger list for Warmahordes so I have a 4th viable list for my Circle army.

My most satisfying was the plastic Shadowsword since I had wanted a Shadowsword for 40k since my Epic days. The armorcast one was OOP at that point and I wasn't going to pay Forgeworld that much for it. It was one that I'd wanted for a long time and finally got. I'm down to a single army for 40k and that may be going soon as well, but I will likely keep the Shadowsword just cause.

My last purchase was the new Markus Wolfhart miniature for my Empire army. I've really enjoyed painting him up especialy as the figure has such an expresive face.

Most satisfying buy was my AOBR boxed set, I swaped my the marines with another guy for a second set of orks and that was the start of a huge waaagh which now contains nearly 400 infantry, 2 stompas and about 50 bikers. Even though the price has gone up and a new starter set is out soon I still consider it a bargain.

The first Seamus the Mad Hatter I ordered from Wyrd. Seeing it in person (as it were) solidified my love for Wyrd miniatures, and was what really started me on the road to becoming the Malifaux fanboy I am today I honestly can't think of another model that fired me up so much when I received it. So much fun to paint I've now got my third on order!

Most recent: Ork Aeroplanes. FYI - they're awesome kits. Also most recent (roughly same time), Puppetswar Coffin Bomber plane (also a cool kit) and RagingHeroes Ork Warlord (very nice).

Most satisfying: Wow, that's a really tough question. At Adepticon this year, I bought an old Armourcast Great Gargant, and while I haven't had time to start working on it yet, I've got a lot of ideas and hopes for it.
