Thanks Tipios

Hair is surprisingly easy with a knife and some vaseline to hand, unless I just lucked out on the random skill acquisition side of things

The "guy" taking fire is heavily influenced by this piece I randomly found on the interwab... is my one a girl? who knows

Also, updateage is being severely affected by workiness that is requiring regular trips away just now. Interesting work, but tiring and leaves no room for my addictions Hopefully get some paint on Swann this weekend.

'Ere an dere

So goddamn much in this thread which is amazing! I loved SC (first version) when I was young and I particularly recognize those bases from the terran campaign streets. Also, that demolisher/shock cannon is very touching And I can't wait for the Odin to be made!

One question, though: Shouldn't the banshee have rotors? Or do they perhaps move to fast to be seen?

@Saintspirit - In my happy world the rotors are moving too fast to be seen I prefer that look to the overlapping compressor fan style that seems to be put on most VTOLs just now. I thought about trying to fit some kind of perspex sheet in ther to make it a bit less empty, but I got bored before I found a final solution and got the thing painted.

Speaking of painting, maybe time this weekend, maybe not... Oh poor Swann :(

Well Swann has now been primed, but no further. Lots of travel over the past couple of weeks :(

ON the other hand I've done quite a bit more GSing of feet and stuff that kind of trailed off last time I got stuck into these boys. Also the one obvious girl of the lot has had a bit more love... so to speak

I fixed the light, so it mostly works after a bit of jiggling, GSed up her legs and feet properly and finished off the headband holding back her hair.

Just need to get her and her (un)lucky patient undercoated and painted now

In retrospect I might actually have to tone the light source down a little...

Dood that is amazing!!

Maybe try a 3V watch battery f your LED can take it?

The base has 2 watch batteries enclosed. The LED is a 6V job I think, so I wouldn't get as good a result with just the one, if it could even drive the thing. I couldn't find lower voltage blue ones when I was looking.

I've got some el-cheapo LEDs from China that work pretty well with 1 3v, still bright tho.

I thought all electronics these deays came from China as a default TO be honest the key thing for me wasn't the brightness but the colour. It had to be blue. I actually ended up with some ultra-small surface mount jobs as well, but I could barely see the LED, let alone solder connections onto it, so I had to compromise on the one I ended up with.

Swann update!

And he's done! Still got the base to do, but otherwise finished. The freehand could be more meaningful, but I think its neat enough. Swann is a funny mix of colours in the game as well, hence the rather eclectic paint job. Its a pity, but I couldn't find anywhere to put hazard striping that would make sense

With his deployables

And thats Terminator squad 1 done as well!

Your work is of the cuff which is why it turns out looking so great and original

I really think your creative thinking is out of this world, and the paint scheme on your newest creation is great.

It has almost a comic art vibe to this army, which I love as it screams at you to look and admire it

Great stuff and imagination

I have to ask what head is that with the goggles I keep thinking it is from the AT-43 Range

Thanks

To be honest, for this army I just pretty much follow whats in the game, with a few minor tweaks Much easier to do stuff when someone else has already donw your thinking for you

Regarding the head, its a Scout head with the visor headband filed down a bit and GS eyepieces and facial hair added. It was a pretty simple conversion with the hardest bit being getting the eyepieces to be about the same size.

Neato - First 2 games down in 6th edition. Both 1500 points, the first was a win against Blood Angels and the second was a lose against Tyranids. I really rather like the new objective rules. It actually makes you go for objectives, rather than just trying to table your opponent that always seemed to be the default in 5th. I don't like the challenge rules. They are stupid and make no sense.

So the first game I managed to get the First Blood secondary objective and killed my opponent's general. In return Mr Raynor caught a force sword in the face and ID'd out, so a 2-1 win :(

In the second game it was all going swimmingly, except that my opponents hive tyrants were tenacious and irritating. One charged a full terminator squad in cover, and both sides wiped each other out, preventing me from taking any objectives. I managed to get my CC terminator squad into combat with a couple of zoanthropes, that quickly escalated into a combat with the other tyrant and 8 hive guard that also sucked in a second terminator squad. Enfeeble meant that I couldn't get FNP and was having difficulty against the really high T Guards and Tyrant. In the end only the Tyrant was left from that combat with a Tervigon on 1 wound in my deployment zone. I had a Dreadnought and a Land Speeder left, so I got first blood again, but lost out with my general dead and a Linebreaker unit in my deployment.

Good fun, and a much better result than my previous games with the Terranwing which were unmitigated failures

Maybe next time a slightly larger game to bring my Librarian into play! And now to try and get my Medic painted up and start on the Zealots properly.

Hmm... some actual progress...

First up is my award winning (ok, so its a picture of a dog with a bolter, but its still an award ) General Warfield! Purging his way thrgouh the Sara system.

Great fun to do and gratifying to win something for it.

Also a rather sleepless night last night as my brain decided that, yes, damnit, its time to do modelling again! So here we have some advancemenet on the Medevac/Stormraven. Actually, seeing how Dark Angels can't get stormravens and I wouldn;t be able to stick my Deathwing on it, even if it was allied, I might have to make it a stormeagle instead... But regardless, its a Medevac based transport aircraft The biggest difference between the two at this stage would be to not put the AC nose mount on and fit some big ass rocket launchers somewhere about its person. Final configuration will await the new DA codex.

Here is the SC2 original:

And here is what I've got so far. I'm actually starting to enjoy the build again as I can see what the next few steps will be.

Cross posted from P&M:

So while dry-fitting the Medevac, I realsied that I may have inadvertantly drifted off-background

Queue wacky fiddle music and chinese-language swearing!

And the Serenity Class shuttle was born

Anyway, then I finished fitting the wings.

This particular model has been documented with an in-air refuelling interface. This prevents it from conducting orbital operations, but greatly assists in duration for atmospheric and sub-orbital operations. Note that the TL multi-meltas are kept away from the spike

The mount under the cockpit will be the Machine Spirit interface and if it gets used as a Stormraven will also be the AC mount.

Hah, you need to magnetise the wings and weapons now so that you can field both versions

Thanks guys

@Monkeytroll - I'll be leaving the wings loose anyway. no need to magnetise, thankfully as I'm running out

@Ovion - Probably not to be honest... Does anyone ever field more than one stormraven? I wonder if you could do the same to a Thunderhawk though... hmmmmm I like the Dakkajet idea as well. You'd need to get the AA mount fitted just right

@Epherous - It's "just" the Stormraven and Valkyrie kits... you know, the two most expensive ones Oh, except for the AC mount. That is a Rhino cupola with a Defiler head as the sensor array. I had one lying about

Also some plasticard and GS to fill gaps. To be honest its all flowed together rather nicely to this point. If I were to do it again, I would try to fix the cockpit on a bit more cleanly. I ended up taking a little bit too much away and I'll need to fill the gaps somehow. The engine mounts are also a little bodged, so I'll need to disguise them somehow. If you didn't want them movable then you could probably glue them into place with a neater detail.

@lone dirty dog - Its all about pattern recognition, I guess. Also I only copy other people's ideas and translate them into GW kits If I tried to come up with something original I'm sure I would fare badly...

Next up is to work out how to do the Stormeagle Vengeance launchers on the top fuselage. I'll probably just end up using Whirlwind launchers as the weapons have the same stats. Also some TLLC action, but I have a couple of Predator TLLC weapon mounts ready to go.

Do you know if there are any cheap magnets about the same size as the Stormraven engines that you could fit into the recess instead of the bar inside the model GW did with the Stormraven? Just a random thought.

@Epherous - I can't quite visualise what you're trying to describe, but I'm sure you can find a magnet to fit. I use Neotexx for mine, but I believe K&J Magnetics is the peferred vendor for you colonial types

@Lone Cat - Thats the chassis for my Guard Hydra. I needed to add a heavy bolter to match the weapon loadout. I've got 2 that are pretty much identical, but only 1 is painted. More pics linked from my Dunedin .sig link.
