I can confirm that, being a terrain harlot, those are new or scratchbuilt for the Codex.
I was going to do this last night, but I was tired and it slipped my mind.

And GW doesn't like putting anything into their books these days that can't be built from Official™ Citadel™ Terrain™, so there's a good chance that these are real.

Better be plastic and compatible with Citadel Fortress and Citadel Bastion kits..
Plus some Citadel Bunker would be nice too.

I'm a sucker for trenches, but the ones from FW simply seemed to expensive and complicated for me, but if these look even half as good, I'll probably snatch them up. They will probably add them as fortification, as we have been expencting some new terrain popping up with WD rules at some point.

You forgot "expensive"!
And "Fine™"!
More terrain kits are (nearly) always a good thing, though.

GW does have a habit of tossing some previews in their books in the past. Remember the marine statue we waited forever for and the Daemon prince that was amazing when it first appeared in photos - but then didn't show up for ages.
I would say that these look uniform enough in the photos (both in front of the models and behind) that we will see them eventually. The part that sticks out as plastic to me is the shield in front of the Aquila - a conversion would have a shield tacked on - these have a solid edge out from the trench to the shield. It is a typical GW solid piece. Could be a resin drop mold, similar to the Ork and Imperial barricades.
Can't wait. Maybe they will appear around the holidays just like the Fortress of Arrogance several years ago.

Copied these rumours from the Tau thread, as they might be of interest here as well:
Stickmonkey wrote:I heard a long time ago about tau, nid, ork, and eldar terrain being worked on, I can certainly see these coming with codex releases as fortifications. Xenos terrain is sorely missing, but the question is can they sell it? I think if it's army themed and in the codex they can.
librerian_samae wrote:I can back up stick on the xenos terrain for what it's worth, it's been at least ready to be produced for 2ish years, about 2-3 gamesdays back Jez and phil when talking about dark eldar during their preview and were saying about webway kits etc being done and awesome.
At the time however all that was released was the small webway template, maybe they have kept all the xenos terrain back for a big release and/or gap in the release schedule.

It's not uncommon for scratchbuilt terrain using their kits to make it in though, either. Remember when everyone was positive that there was a new RoBB tile in the rulebook, which ended up bing scratchbuilt with loads of Bastions?

I'm aware of that, but it's all built from Citadel Terrain. No actual scratch built stuff - certainly no old Star Wars transport toys cut in half with chainsaws, or massive landing pads.

It's clearly Imperial, and not just a ADL variant, therefore must be a New Thingy ruleswise. No complaints from me, so long as they also release some Xenos stuff at the same time.
The bad news is that it might be just some unreleased FW terrain...

Nice find! Looks good. I was just having a chat with a friend about trenches, and how much they change the battlefield. I don't think the existing rules give trenches justice.

It's the old plastic stuff. The one "drop drum" in the upper right corner is definitely plastic, and was a staple of the old terrain sets.

Took me a second look to see that the trenches have piles of dead IG soldiers in front (between the double eagles).

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Just going to point out that the shields on the trench line are the same as those on witchfate tor, the WHFB scenery I have been painting.
They are moulded into the tower though so these could not have been converted without A LOT of work from there.

By "expansion" I mean a minor supplement to the rules not an actual expansion.

So by minor supplement you mean available in WD for a split second before being made iOS only for an outrageously inflated price.

As long as it isnt made the same way as the blast craters. Those things friggin suck. We have a set of those for our table, and they look cool and all, until you start playing. Way to slippery, even with some paint on it. Not to mention the ridges are at such a high angle that minis just fall off the blasted thing

Yeah, and since the rulebook mentions additional fortifications rules in WD, it's probably safe to say they're coming relatively soon.

Agree 100%.
Pretty Terrain. Horrible for actual game play.
