I just picked up the Dark Vengeance starter kit, with hopes of starting a Chaos Army. That being said, I really like the lore of the DA and their fallen brothers and wanted to incorporate them into the Chaos Army. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to represent them as Fallen Angels. Other than Painting them as Dark Angels and just putting them into the army I have no clue as to how to go about this. If anyone has happened to do this already I would be very appreciative of tips or pictures as a reference.

I do this. Basically spiky DA models and I use chaos terms for my DW. It's fun. Of course you could "deface" the DA icons, or just leave them.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought of this and also you can not look at those angle wing helmets and not think that's some bold head gear. I'm testing out a slaanesh paint job on a DA model see how I like it.

I guess it depends on how Chaos-y you want to go, you could simply remove any aquilas and other imperium iconography and call it job done or go crazy and add spikes and such.
Also, if they're supposed to be the DA who fell at the Heresy they would probably still have black armour rather than green as they adopted that post-heresy.

I acquired some CSM backpacks and Bolters from a friendly CSM player, filed off all the icons and replaced the backpacks/bolters of all my AOBR and DV marines.
Though recently-turned Marines will pretty much just have defaced iconography.

Picking up a few of these kits from GW might be a good idea, if you've got the money.

But doesn't cypher have dark green armor? Now that I think about have any fallen join chaos war bands or do they wonder around the galaxy doing some intergalactic bar hoping.

I've seen him painted, by GW no less, both with black and green armor. I think the original 'Eavy Metal studio model was green and they eventually got around to correcting it.

They've had him painted dark green before but there's no good reason why he would have it, outside of wanting to match his loyal counterparts.
Maybe he's just partial to green
If they're anything like the loyalist DA they probably keep to themselves mostly but I can't see why they wouldn't occasionally turn up in a warband (unless i'm forgetting some fluff that states otherwise).

GW painted him Green because they changed the entire Dark Angel colour scheme to it. This was before there was a distinction between the pre and post-heresy schemes, thus there was no reason for him not to be in green. However its only in the most recent art of him that they've corrected this oversight.
...Though I still prefer the original representation. =)

Ah, I hadn't seen that artwork, nice that they changed it.
Kinda prefer the green as well though, if i'm honest.

I'm sure they will brush up on it when they make the dark new angles codex.

By the fluff, the Fallen Angels were scattered through space and time by the warp rift. In terms of colouration, then, some may still be in black armour either because that's what they are used to (its smart and is suitable for all occasions, after all ), or because they've only just emerged from the warp. Others may be in any colour of armour because they have renounced their old ways and re-painting their suit is an easy symbolic break with the Imperium.
I don't know how much iconography was put on pre-heresy armour, given the secular, intelligent and forward looking nature of the imperium at that stage. Certainly I think the "modern" DA iconography is much more ornate than anything the pre-heresy legion would have used. So I would try and take some of it away if you can and vandalise what you can't remove.
Some individuals end up ruling empires on their own while others band together in smaller warbands to prey on unsuspecting planets.
So basically there is massive scope for you to do whatever you like Just give it a bit of thought before hand to make the execution consistent.

I have to imagine that if there was such a large contingent defecting at once, they would have a similar if not the same color scheme. (with exceptions like if the Ravenwing or Deathwing tended toward a specific god.)

A huge number of the legion was affected as they garrisoned Caliban and the instant before they got riftified they would have all had the same colour scheme. However as they have been scattered through space and time it allows for a lot of leeway for the modeller. Some of them have probably had 10,000 years to think of a new scheme that they like, and who kows what effect the exposure to the warp will ahve done.

Very true. Plus as the CSm codex loves to point out, many have fallen in groups here or there in the years since, and I cant see the Dark Angels being any different in that regard.

Depends, on one hand it could be referring to the South Park band.. on the other it could be referring to something that Slaanesh would be very into, and probably not quite suitable for this thread.. Unless you somehow found a way to model it.

Not on this website, thanks.
There are plenty of other places on the internet for that sort of thing.
Speaking of Fallen Angels, I have a few:

They're the same thing.
The band is named after the position. xD

Message read, loud and clear.
Also those Fallen look pretty nice. Thanks for sharing!
What I think I am going to do is Nurgle the hell out of the bikes with Greenstuff, and most likely the terminators too. I will make the librarian Tzeentch-ish as best possible, the Company Master is most likely going Slaanesh, and I have yet to decide with the Interrogator-Chaplain. The regular marines will most likely be converted into some plague marines as best I am able (I saw a few cool techniques for making rotting limbs with guitar cord and greenstuff) .
Coupled with the Chaos included, it should be a pretty decent starting point for my army.
