Your models look great. Solid brush control and technique. Digging all the checkers on the Orks. I look forward to seeing the Eldar develop. I haven't played a game of 40K using a ruleset newer than 3rd (don't get a lot of mini gaming in, myself), so someone else will have to chime in on that topic.

Nice job on the orks Lovely checks.

The scheme you've used means they could fit into most of the clans and there's no identifying marks so you're free to explore and decide which you like the best - or make up your own.

The newer Primaris bigger marines are (currently) a sub-faction within marine forces, so no worries at present about having both.

Like the idea of a metal OOP eldar force - no idea of it would be legal orbit in latest edition, I haven't played for a very long time, just like messing around with the models.

I would stick with painting for now, see what you enjoy working on and let yourself absorb some of the stuff around gaming, see if it sparks anything. Not going to be able to play for a while anyway with lockdown, so just enjoy the creative side for now.

Pretty sure some actual players will rock up to answer your questions in a way more relevant to the game

Thanks a bunch. @monkeytroll & @youwashock,

I checked out some of your conversions they look great! I'm going for a bit of a cybork theme myself, The next one im doing in the unit has a circular saw for an arm with loads of skin rips and mech-bits which should be fun to paint. Orks are just the most fun to look at and to work with IMO, you can put so much individuality in each model compared to the samey look of other empires. Though I haven't got a lot of experience to be fair.

Those Orkses look great. As the others have said the checks are very neat, but I guess the steady hand comes with the job! Certainly if you’re after some variety, then the Orks will suit very nicely. Some of the chaos and renegades allow a bit more variety than Marines. Ultramarines though are the most samey samey of the lot too! Were they all painted with OOP paints too?

Can't answer your current questions any better than what has already been stated - but looking forward to more progress!

The orks look fantastic! Oldschool is best school, so the eldar are going to be great

Thanks for the replies guys.

Finished the first marine, veteran of the 1st company!

Edit: Seeing as people want to see eldar I'll be painting a guardian from rogue trader (or oldschool 40k) next!

Thanks a lot! Apart from Macragge blue and white scar (which I had to order at an extortionate rate on amazon) all of the paints used were OOP. Deffo cracked the gobbo green hex pot out because it went on my fingers nightmare when i opened the damned pot hah
Ultramarines are super samey for sure, one of the reasons I got the command squad was because there's a massive standard bearer I really want to paint and I quite fancy the white armour on the apothecary though and the black of the chaplain in terminator armour which i'll get soon
