@John, no worries, this is all just to help motivate each other and maybe learn a few things along the way. Those Sigmarines look fantastic , and I dislike AOS. Will like to see what you do with the other side of the core box.

@TPDC, great job on the falcon and we all like what you did with the doors from space hulk/overkill.

For future reference I will be moving onto a Bretonnian army for the rest of this tale of gamers. Need a break from the generic nature of Tyranids and can't think of anything more characterful than all that insane heraldry.........so if you would be so kind Az, sign my Bretonnians up for the second half of the challenge.

Here's my slightly feeble April submission.

It does finish off a unit of 30 boyz, though, so that's something at least

I don't think I would ever call old school ork boys feeble Slinky, old orks are best orks IMO. So much character in those minis compared to the green gorillas of today.

Now that May is cometh, pledge time it is! I'm aiming to finally finish some things that have been in the works for several months, namely the remaining Tyranids I have for a friend and basing/touching up my Clanrats. Once this is done (probably get started on before but whatever ) I will be doing up a Deathjack and Gatorman Posse for Warmachine/Hordes, and a semi-related goal of mine for this month is to improve my miniature photography, so fingers crossed you'll get some better quality images from me soon.

P.S. Azazelx, would I be able to get my project changed in the OP to say that I'm working on Warmahordes stuff as well? Another thing I just noticed is that my pledges for April aren't there, they're mid-way down page 26 if that helps!

If I can, I'd like to adjust my May pledge. I want to change it from the Dystopian Wars airships to an Imperial Knight. I still plan on doing the airships this month, but they're being relegated to stretch goal status.

Azazelx has stated a few times that the goals can be changed, not hard and fast, so get to that knight barzam . Will it be an actual GW knight or a Gundam Knight who has joined the Imperium of man?

I can't remember what my actual April pledge was. I think it was Ogres. I'll get a shot of them all together this weekend, as I certainly painted a fair amount of them.

I'm thinking my May pledge will be to finish my Varanguard, and then something big to go with them- either a Chaos Lord on a Manticore, or Archaon on his giant dragon. That one will be a daunting task for sure!

Surprisingly, an actual, proper GW Knight. Aside from some magnets, it's even a straight build.

Totally OT but there's no proper Knight Gundam kit at the appropriate scale.

I would have owned one for some time already, outside of the Gundam Cloth Real Model toy from the mid 90s that is quite expensive.

Musha Gundams are another story. Or The new SD Knights. But a proper Master Grade, or Real Grade, or hell, even a High Grade Knight Gundam has been something I have been pining for now for many MANY years.

If Barzam is starting his knight, I should probably get mine done as well, seeing as how we split a Nemesis box.

Make with the instructions Barzam, so I can finish the thing!

Wow guys really great stuff lately.

I think for May I'm gonna have to try to get on to these trolls or a giant or something. I dunno. Something easy. People were talking about having a busy April but for me it's May, some kind of wedding, birthday, graduation thingy, blah. Plus more work and it's getting hotter.

I may have to resort to painting up a boar rider and slapping him on the dragon turtle to be a krudger on slasher. We'll see. I was trying to get the archer unit done but meh, they aren't inspiring me just yet (except the mawbeast who is done).

Well shoot.

Gotta readjust my May painting pledge (as well photograph my April stuff still).

I *WILL* finish the Varanguard this month, but I need to take care of my kid's school project.

He needs to build a replica of one of the California Missions (part of the 4th grade curriculum here in CA).

His mission- Mission San Francisco Solano, the final mission built at the end of what's called "The King's Road," the path that connected all the missions together.

Anyways, my dad is really into scratchbuilding stuff, so with nothing but cardboard, some dowels, and PVA glue, he went and made this.

And why, would you look at that? It's even at the right scale!

The actual mission, for reference:

So yeah, that's my painting pledge for May, because it needs to be done by the 16th!

Ok, since I've got quite a lot of work done so far I figure it's time for a little teaser of my first mini for the month.

Snow/tundra bases seem to be a thing I enjoy doing so I'll be doing the whole Wrath of Kings 2 player starter with them. The rock is just a piece of garden slate (painted obviously). I put loads down in my garden last year and still have about half a bag hanging around, perfect basing material. Additionally the base has a load of polyfiller (spackle) in it to built up the ground layer to be level with the top of the base. I'll be putting rocks on all the special and leader bases with the regular grunts just getting plain non rock bases. This will hopefully make the special and leader units stand out a bit amongst the grunts. This base is for the Goritsi Shieldbreaker, I just couldn't resist painting a steampunk power armoured, axe wielding werewolf as my fist mini from this set. The mini itself is coming along very nicely, just got to do a little more tidying of the base coat then it'll be washes, highlights and getting it glued to the base.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Well that took less time than I expected. Here's my first completed mini for May.

And a comparison shot showing just how big this thing really is. Look at that puny Karist.

On to the next mini, not sure what it'll be yet.

Thanks for that pic Nick, I'm working on the same guys for this month (Goritsi) for my WOK Herd army. That's some nice work on the Shieldbreaker. I'm thinking of getting a second to chop the weapon out of his hands and place shoulder mounted guns on him (boomstick or the lightning type upgrade)

Glad you like it. I think you're right there's a lot of conversion potential with that mini. A pair of wrist mounted guns could look quite cool or a large spear/glaive style of weapon. I'm definitely looking forward to painting the rest of the set. First thing I want to do though is finish all the bases, got all of them painted and done the ground texture, they just need snow and tufts now.

He has returned back to work and has begun browsing the threads again, but is not ready to participate in discussions right now so it may be a short time until we see or hear from him. He will elaborate when he can but currently he just needs to get back to normal so he will not be updating his thread or the tale of 35 gamers thread for a short time.

Hey Azazelx, you and your family are in my thoughts.

Not much happening with me on the hobby front since the weekend. Unfortunately my old brushes are starting to fall apart so I've had to order some replacements, until they arrive I'm kinda stuck not doing much. Still on the plus side I've been able to get the rest of the Wrath of Kings 2 player box undercoated and indulged in a little mass basing session (which killed off an old brush in the process).

Mmm bases. The ones with rocks on them are for leader and special minis the plain are for regular troops. Should make the more important minis stand out nicely.

Anyway, that gives me little excuse not to get the rest of the set painted up right? Well we'll see I am a hobby butterfly. The next mini I'll be painting the Ashmen Hakar which is acting as the test for the planned paint scheme for the other faction. Once I've got that done I should be able to start painting more than one mini at once and really make some progress.
