Meh, Not a fan of the desert scheme.

Go the original scorpion green + white combo. Would love to see a full squad done up in that way.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm really hoping to have some REAL updates coming in the near future. I just need to finish up my Chaplain for the local painting contest before I can really get my heels in on these guys.

Sirath, I'll be using both color schemes actually. The desert scheme is mainly for my Sternguard as a throwback to the old Rogue Trader camo schemes in the Badab Wars history. It won't be the main colors, but it'll be prominently displayed by any recon elements.

To me this is one of the best parts of the project. Overall, I really love what you've done again, despite the inherent flaws in the GW space marine anatomy and kit, I'm excited about this project.

Looking forward to more.

Looking very nice indeed mate. Infact, I'm just in the process of looting your green spray + ink trick for some salamanders :p

When you initially sprayed out of the Tamiya can, did it come out a bit shiny? I'm concerned about painting over parts that shouldn't be green, and gunking the model up ><

I see a problem with camo marines...... your 3 meters tall and you sound like an army march when you walk, why would you try and use camo.

Good painting though.

It does have a slight sheen to it I will admit. But the wash takes the edge off it a bit and makes it easier to paint over. Just wash the entire model and you'll get easier coverage.

Just q quick question.
What did you use for the grass ? I'm using a desert / scrub terrain scheme for my guys and thats exactly the shade of grass I'm looking for.

Thanks.

Great army btw, that green is something else.

SoM were the chapter I chose when my GW store had a contest to see what chapter to paint our store marines as. I won the contest but my manager said there was no way they were going to do them! lol

These look great so far, GD. Makes me want to do a squad or two as well (and I hate painting Loyalists!)

I like the way this group is coming along. It's good to see you getting stuff accomplished with these guys. Maybe someday I'll figure out exactly how it is that you highlight...

Haha, Gey_Death! good to see you havn't fallen off the hobby grid. The last time I saw you, you were working on the Grey Death Legion. Your work on the Sons of Medusa is simply superb so far. I think you should also post this up on the B&C

How are you doing the chapter badges? Are there transfers for sons of medusa or are you using the metal pads?

Cheers,

There are a few different sites with DIY transfers all worked out for the Sons, you just need to print them out on the special transfer paper.

I've yet to pick up the paper or even try printing my own yet. I hope to get around to that soon so I can work out the kinks before I start on the Sons.

They're finally finished (Chapter badges will be applied/painted all at once):

I'm really happy with how quickly this group came together. I painted 5 from the start and added an additional that was a WIP from before to the mix and had no issues with the extra workload. I think this method will go even faster once I get even more marines finished this way. I'll be starting another batch this week. I'm really excited to get working on them!

Questions/Comments/Critiques/Compliments More than welcome folks! Hope you like em as much as I do!

Now you just have to find a way to get Chapter Badges on there without mucking with the detail and highlighting.

That said, they look really nice, and I particularly like the battle damage.

Great tutorial by the way. I just tried this a couple days ago on a terminator from the AoBR set. Really helped make the model a bit more interesting. I did have to pick at my foam a bit to get a more random appearance in the paint, but otherwise no problems.
