Hey hey

Finally getting around to catching up on my subbed threads in the ol' P&M Blogs, the 6th rulebook has been distracting me. Speaking of which, nice summary on 6th all those pages back, very interesting insights. I'm looking forward to getting more games under my belt. I'm loving 6th so far.

Valks looks great, but we've I see we've moved on.

Airbrushes are great for getting an even basecoat down, I don't know what I'd do without mine!

What's the plan in terms of colour scheme for the Tau?

The tank gets an earthen scheme, like a desert scorpion. The Skyray/Devilfish gets a two-tone blue and grey sky-camo scheme.

Okay. One down, one to go! Tau Air Caste Skyray/Devilfish, with fully swappable options. Magnetized for your pleasure. Getting better with the airbrush. Seeing that I need a finepoint one, so I can do panel lines. Not sure if I can afford a rig anytime soon to paint the O. I'll have to do all the heavy and medium work with the airbrush, and then switch to regular brushes for small and ultrafine.

It is nice to have options:

Skyray (Yes, I know the weapons loadout is illegal):

Devilfish:

Undercarriage:

Onto the Hammerhead, which is about 50% painted. Debating decals for both. We'll see.

Rivets! I've been very busy working on my part-time job, which is Artemis: The Spaceship Bridge Simulator. We're gearing up for GenCon, I'm now on the Board of Advisers, and I've been placed in the position of being the Community Manager/Visionary for expanding the game above and beyond. Which means that I am responsible for imagining things like "Artemis: The Toilet Paper".

Anyways! I managed to get a small project done that's been in my brain. I've ALWAYS been fascinated by what 'civilian life' is like, in the 40th Millennium. Now, let's face it. In reality, if we survive, humanity 40,000 years from now will be absolutely unlike anything we could possibly imagine. *WE* could be the Tyranids.

But, since we're not, and all the artwork is, pretty much, humans with (at best) funky cyberwear (the bioware is pretty much reserved for Space Marines)... We can build things. Like parking lots.

And trucks.

I hope you enjoy this trip into the madness that is my mind.

Sorry, no Wip. I bashed this out in the space on an hour or so.

The cab is from the Manticore/Deathstrike kit, the flatbed and 'ramp' is Chimera. Wheels are older Ork wheels, treadwheels are bitz from a Baneblade and standard IG treadlinks. The side panels over the treads are trimmed down Rhino top hatch doors, and gubbins are a fuel tank from a baneblade, generic IG 'box', two IG 'tank hooks, and a cut-down 'cover' from a Space-Marine twin-linked somethingorother. Probably a Land Raider TwL Heavy Bolter or Lascannon. Ladder is cut down from a Baneblade kit.

The Manticore cab is, of course, filled out with plasticard and rivets.

@ Galorn- Dakka rules from Lorek

2. No Thread Necromancy. If a thread is more than a month old, leave it alone. If you're really interested in the topic, start a new thread! There are exceptions, like updates to modelling blogs or threads in forums that don't get much traffic, but in general bringing back old threads is simply annoying to the bulk of the posters who have already moved on.

But on the awesome side, it getting bumped prompted people to start posting active updates, so yay me!

Dear plog readers.

<rant>

Secret Weapon 'leaves' are BASIL, okay? BASIL.

You want leaves and foilage? Go to your Supermarket, go to the baking spice section, AND GO TO TOWN.

If you're SMART, you'll find a COUPON in the Sunday paper (or on the internet) that'll get you a dollar off your purchase, giving you TEN TO TWENTY TIMES the amount of leaves/rough flock for HALF THE PRICE Secret Weapon is charging. I'm all for companies making money, but this is RIDICULOUS. Buy the cheap giant generic brand container.

BASIL. The secret is out.

--Brian

PS: My spice shelf reveals that Oregano Leaves also work well. And if you want to 'shop smart', a large jar of "Italian Seasoning" or "Herbs de Provence" will not only provide lovely 'rough/forest' ground cover, but will also season most dishes, and goes well on eggs.

YOU'RE WELCOME, CITIZENS.

PPS: Don't buy Gale Force 9 flock, EITHER. Buy the larger Woodland Scenics shakers. Too expensive? Find four friends, divvy up the cost, and you'll STILL get 2-3 times as much flock as what GF9 charges. Same goes for SAND and TALOS and ROCKS and their stupid tools and their little styrene packs and their styrene rod 'sampler' and...
