I've no idea what that is, but it sounds like I'm on the right track then.
Anyway, the portalglyph didn't take long to throw together.
Chariot came with two riders, the second I'm tempted to make into a mounted herald. But, that's for later on if at all.
The grinder is going alright, but I'm still rather unsure if it'll be ready in time. I won't field it unless it's complete as it'll drag my score down a little.

Yes, there's going to be portal quotes for every single update for this.
I'm still working on the grinder, but I've figured that project and the time given will probably not happen in time for it. Still don't know if I don't try. The more important thing to get done though is this portalglyph (plan B) and the mandatory five objective markers. Anyone have any ideas for them? The requirement is they have to be on 40mm bases, so the square one I have already can't be used.
If I somehow have the time after that, I'll see about making some "plaguebearers" and maybe some more Daemonettes for use with the portalglyph and that fun warp table.

by the way... as it is based on a lid... how wobbly is the material? will it crack when manhandled? i would guess so... underside is rather thin and as the middle part is raised ...this could affect the whole piece then... cracking of paint and loosing the mini later on even...just mentioning it to be on the safe side

As a portal fan i approve of any and all portal related quotes.
Here's my suggestions for some objective markers
1. Deamonette seducing a sister of battle. Or cavorting with one of those dark eldar slave girls.
2. Or both. Both is good.
3. Two deamonettes playing with a recently decapitated space marine head.
4. Deamonette commissar (you know the one I'm talking about ) standing atop a pile of dead guardsmen.
5. Deamonette bending down to play with a nurgling.
I think all of these would fit nicely on a 40mil base.

Technically, they are sorcery.
For the brasswork, it's pretty much done. Might highlight it a bit more though.
The inside of the rim as well I need to do.
Base of the pink is down, but no glazing yet. Always starts so worryingly rough.
Snrub, I like some of those. I'll probably try to mix some of them together. Especially the marine one. Don't have the bodies left to do most of them, but with some arms and heads I could have them reaching out of runes or something and grabbing on.
Also misread your name as Swinub before.

You know i think in all the years i've owned Pokemon Silver i don't think i've ever caught a Swinub. Infact i'm pretty sure i only ever played that whole game through and through once. Really should dig that out and give it another go.

I've been so bored at work today, Found your thread and just spent the last 3 hours reading through it. Some of (pretty much all) your conversion work is amazing. The painting on those daemonettes I love.
I'm not too convinced about the two daemon princes you made. The first one I wasn't too fond of, and the second looks good from every angle (except straight ahead, he looks too spread out to me, like he's skydiving)
Still, everything else is absoloutely amazing, I am a massive fan of your stuff. The more Slaanesh the better for me. I've even taken some painting tips from you! Would you mind if I painted my Daemon Tainted rhino with glyphs similar to yours? I'd need to do alot of practice, I'm rubbish at painting, but it might just give me the edge!
Anyway!
Kudos to you and your painting/modelling n0t_u

Thanks all. Of course they'll glow. Got the runes glowing, need to fix up the legs a bit. Seems while the glue was setting she fell a little back from the initial pose onto her butt... Will probably do that when I come back to it after the brass work on the Daemonette. Hmm, might need to get a new white soonish, I've noticed it's starting to get a little chalky when I use it in stuff. @Snrub, it's a Portalglyph, a new hellforged artifact in the new Daemon codex. I could just use the small blast template instead, but that doesn't look so nice and in the middle of a game someone could pick it up. Pretty much it's like a spawning pool for Daemons, kind of wish the Tyranids would get something like it eventually. I don't think I've ever used a Swinub either. I've caught them, but they never see sunlight again. @Mike, welcome. Glad you're liking it, for the glyphs go ahead I've been taking them from the WHFB Hordes of Chaos army book. I take a line from music in languages other than English, generally seems to be Japanese, then make them match the Daemonic symbols by pronounciation. This one roughly translates to "Overtaken by shadows, the land they reach is utopia". I just find it always seems to work better this way instead of trying to make some random ones work together.

Well, just need to check over it now before pretty much calling this done.
Already got the gloss varnish down, which somehow didn't show up in the pictures.
I've also began working on the first objective marker. I had bought a model to use as one for the SoB, but I think with a little work I can make it fit in with Slaanesh.
See what I can do with some Eldar bits and this.

So played a game against some Dark Eldar today with the new codex. Nothing fancy just a 750 point game. My daemonette squads are so cheap now, I more or less have to max out upgrades to bring them to the same price they were before. The warp storm thing was fun, Khorne one was the only one to even hit anything. It decided it'd smack the razorwing with a glance.
I got some pictures at the end of turns, didn't really keep track of what was going on for a battle rep. It was more to see how decent my camera would be without flash.
With flash it's like this.
But without it's kind of blurry, though I took care of it mostly with resizing the image. I'll probably just get a new camera as this one I'm using got a bit busted when I went hiking before. Battery door doesn't stay closed so I have to fix up the settings every time I go to use it.
Deployment.
I put both units of daemonettes into reserve. Raiders just sort of zoom around.
They take a shot at the chariot, but it goes "nope" and ignores the light show.
Then in my turn, first thing I've done all game. It gets stuck in a ditch.
So these 6th ed daemons are off to a strong start. Masque sort of takes the confusion as a cue to dash for cover to try and flank. I really have no idea where that was going.
KoS gets brought down to a single wound by a raider, then manages to charge it and hits it so hard it explodes and kills several Dark Eldar inside of it. Daemonettes came in, landed alright though in the center of the board. The instrument brings in the second squad, who scatters so they can join right the first.
Then they sort of run to spread out a bit because the razorwing hasn't come in yet.
Then it does and wipes out a bunch of them. The warriors shoot the KoS and kill it pretty easy.
Daemonettes charge the raider, they sort of scratch it a little. It takes no damage and the over watch wipes out more of them.
Chariot dies of boredom and razorwing finally noticing it.
Daemonettes die some more.
Last handful of them charge the warriors and lose one to over watch. Then a combat that lasts about 3 rounds starts up. But DE and their feel no pain win it.
One thing I noticed about the army is it's much more fragile than it was before, and it was basically a paper army before. It's like trying to keep a wet tissue together.
I also noticed something else. At first I was going to do Tzeentch and then the horrors changed to models I don't really like, so I picked a melee army as a change of pace with colours I wouldn't have normally gotten to paint. The I realised I still like shooting stuff, I even slowly started to sneak Tzeentch stuff into it. So I figure these Slaanesh daemons are about done, maybe it's time to start working on a Tzeentch one. Of course it wouldn't be fun if I didn't decide to do something crazy like challenging myself to make every single model in the army a scratch build. I remember finishing the fiends and how it kind of felt good to see a unit I had made all by myself sitting there and occasionally getting in the odd game. But, I'm imagining how much more fun it'd be to have a unique army so I look back to my old Puppets of Tzeentch project.
They're not really that great, but I think something similar could work for horrors. Something more erratic and spontanious. Even the blue horror rule the pink horrors gets seems to work with this, they can be bound by unstable magic and kind of explode when they die actually having the fragmentation represented by the rules. This is not to say the Slaanesh Daemons are never to be worked on again or even shelved, they can be mixed together afterall.
But for now and the reason for the thread title, sort of out of no where comes this.
Which will be what I'm working on for a little bit while I get together all my ideas for the Tzeentch force. I have a rough idea for the LoC to lead it, but I need to figure that out. I'm not really sure how to start off that model at the moment.

Still giving it a good think over, cause I kind of went all over the place when I started thinking about it. I even dumped some of my crappier painted Eldar in to strip.
I've also wanted to kick off my Tau I've had for a bit, I really like the idea of the crisis suits zooming around doing quick hit and run type blitz attacks. But, their models are rather static and expensive at $41 each. Now part of that is countered with FW having some nicer looking suits and all of them are cheaper than the stock ones here by a significant amount. But, I think it's best if I wait to see what their update brings first. I'm hoping the suits are way better and there's a way to have them as troops.
Anyway back to this while I give myself more time to think it through.
I painted the little lens silver so it'd be more visible through the visor.

Finished putting together the Jesta. Only used the open hands and haven't built the weapons and their hands yet so it's not quite finished, but finished enough at the same time.
As for Tau, I saw an army where they converted drones to cover all the unit types. I think if I go with them, I'll sort of take a leaf from their book and have drones as firewarriors. I think it'd give the army of of a special forces feel.

And back to 40k. Made the first FW drone, have enough parts around to make 6 which is a minimum firewarrior squad. So that's somewhere to start. Bases were just temporary for the WIP shots. They'll have to be on the standard 25mm bases, with the right stands they'll be the same height as the firewarriors. As for colours, well I still don't have a set one. That firewarrior was a test. I'm either going to go with some sort of camo, or something brightish. Maybe have them as a sort of experimental cadre and have sort of a stock look to them with the model numbers and such on them for easy identification. And yes, I'm very tempted to make my first FW order for this project and get some remoras maybe. Or just have a nice diverse mix of crisis suit models so they're sort of more characterful or something like that. Edit: Oh and I do have a drone specifically set aside to be the squad leader, but it won't be worked on until Tau are upgraded. For now I can work on these because they're basic rank and file and I really doubt they'll change very much.

Really been all over the place lately.
I finished building the squad in the end.
But, am being reminded of that doubles tournament and how I've got maybe 3-4 weeks until it. Thought I didn't have as much time left.
So far I have three options I'm sort of stuck between:
1. Build a couple more Daemonettes to fill in the gap in points the new codex has made. Considering I have more wheels left over from the first chariot than Daemonettes a second scratchbuilt chariot and another squad would likely be how I fill in the gap.
2. Just take Eldar, I won't stand a chance at getting best painted but eh battle brothers with the Dark Eldar I'm allied with for some reason. There's also slowly repainting them and seeing how far I can push that before I run out of time, stripping and redoing small parts of the army at once.
3. Expand on the Tau. This one is probably the most... ambitious.
Obviously need to get the most stuff for this, but if I want to keep going with the drone army it'll be a good option.

I'm thinking it would be quicker to prepare Daemons for the tournie (although looking over your list of possibilities now, they seem to be in the order of how much work they'll need, least to most) but I think there are some good combinations, but there's more benefits with taking Eldar to team with Dark Eldar. I'd probably write some lists and see how much work you'd need to get Eldar ready. Daemons are still a good pick, but if they're too close to each other they have a slight chance of doing nothing for the turn (thought I'm sure it won't be too hard to avoid this)
With Tau, it looks like you're going for a fun project to do, but 3 or 4 weeks isn't a long time, and I'm pretty sure you're not going to want to rush it. Plus you don't know if they'll say to go with the current codex or the new one.

Probably best to go that way in the end. Good thing the flgs is having a sale for a bit as well, might see what I can pick up.
I've slowly been putting together some of the other Tau stuff that'd go into this force as well. Since it's stripped it's mostly just putting on an arm here and there that fell off during the process. So I've added three stealth suits, a crisis suit and a devil fish into the force.
Anyone else have anything they'd like to add? The Eldar kind of melted so they're more or less off the list for a bit. I figure main plan should probably be the Daemons with Tau slowly in the background for now. If they're ready for it in time then I'll probably take them instead of the Daemons.

Well enough screwing around, back to Slaanesh Daemons. I've given them some thought and all though it could be wrong they're kind of like slightly more durable gunless ork boys now.
I spent the money on the new codex anyway, I think I'd rather just stick with them instead of waste money on these side projects. I suppose the only reason they got so far is that I already had the models from ages ago and they just sat around doing nothing anyway. Anyway onto today's update. I ended up going to play a game at the local GW with one of my friends, Krellnus on Dakka, I thought I was going up against his Tau and he thought he was going up against my Daemons. Surprise, SoB vs DA instead.
Now I don't have any pictures of it because I forgot to bring my SD card, but he took some pictures so I won't spoil the battle and just put it up when I get them from him. Afterwards showed him the FLGS that had been there for a while (Hall of Heros for any Australians who happen to also be in the area), the GW had more recently moved down the street from it. Anyway the point to going there was they were having a 20% sale on GW stuff that ended today. Sadly the only things they happened to have that I'd want for my army was chariots and I'm still not sure about adding more of them, I was looking more for Daemonettes and Seekers. Anyway I didn't leave empty handed though, surprisingly they had these.
Bonus herald head for later!
I'd thought of getting some before, but didn't want to go through the hassle of ordering them in just to find out if they sucked or not. But, they had them there so I got a box to see how they go. Planning on sculpting the tabard on the front of them so they'll look closer to the Diaz Daemonettes they seemed to be based on. Now I'm slightly late on a 16,000 post special for this, but better late than never I suppose. I've also been thinking of stripping the two blue Daemonettes. Currently they just sit around doing nothing, but I figure if I get them the same colour I can use the icon ones as instrument ones, voices are instruments too.
Also looking at the older seekers and some of the mounts, I've been tempted to remake the Fiends. Flamers no longer being too appealing I may make them larger versions of those models I was making to be Flamers. I'll keep the Fiends still, pride perhaps, I'll just slowly make a new unit of six and retire the current to the shelf. New and improved fiends.

Only problem I found with them is they feel pretty fragile. There's next to no room to pin them, they all come in three parts (body, right arm and head).
Still, casts are pretty nice, next to no flash on them so there wasn't much in the way of clean up. Which made them pretty quick to put together.
Packaging is sort of nice as well, box is sturdy so can probably keep bits in it I suppose. They come in an individual zip lock bag for each model, wrapped in a fair amount of bubble wrap; which takes up the majority of the space. Square and circle bases are loose in the bottom of the box though and it doesn't appear to come sealed, that cover just slides off to reveal the actual box. But, it also comes with a thank you card on top so it's the first thing you see when you open the box which is nice. The card also gives you an email to contact on it in case there were any issues, even mentions if you have any feedback or pictures of the models for them you can send it to them via that address if you wish.
