Seems reasonable. To much chipping and I think they'd loose the orange and become big metal guys again.

I like the plasma particle effect you painted- good idea and great execution!

New orange looks way better, and the little stripes of black are exactly what the scheme needs. I'll echo the sentiments of everyone else and say to avoid too much chipping on the armor- keep that lovely orange color and leave the machine bits grimey and weathered!

Not alot to add except that they are looking great.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the infantry.

The two big boys are done! now I can follow on with the rest of the army in the same finish and style I don't know what else to say about them but they turned out goooooood! exactly how I wanted them to look for Whaley, nice and heavy with a worn powerful stature ready to do battle! the more subtle chipping on the armour plates is just about right when in conjunction with the under frame it's as if they change the main battle plates between battles to keep them well protected.

the big ass mortar I tried another little different thing with it, I washed the rear with a white wash to make it look chalky and as if the prolonged exposure to the plasma wash back had calcified or left a residue on it.

Beautiful, and once again your innovative approach to painting is inspiriring. The orange over metallics, the scratch effects, the build-up and residue on the Plasma Mortar, all techniques that I've seen rarely (if ever) and am definitely adding to the list of things to try out.

Look like they have really been through the meat grinder (metal grinder?). It'll be interesting to see how it works scaled down.

Out of control, Damo. Your stuff is really looking amazing these days. There are no other words. I love the thought you put into things like the calcification of the back end of the plasma mortar. You should send some pics of your stuff in to Forge World. They show off stuff that people have painted from time to time.

Working on texture is the most interesting part of my painting, so I really like the way you paint Damo.

I prefer the big guy with the plasma-thing-reactor... because the plasma-thing-reactor. Those energy bubbles are the cherry on top of the cake.

Brilliant idea on the Calcification wash. No idea if theres science to it, but damn does it work for you!!
Armor is perfect with the chipping. Beautiful color you ended up with.

Thanks everyone! sorry for a rushed update but I'm nearly out the door for work got the base down on all the other models this morning. primed silver, washed with watery blue paint, washed with Agrax and then overbrushed with burnished gold.

next up is wash again with sepia and then start the scratches

When I saw the pix I immadiately thought "that would fit perfectly in Gits' army" !

I'm going open up the ring around the front of the cannon like flower petals i think but that effect you've done would be perfect for the focusing lenses(?) inside.
The whole force is coming along really beautifully. Oily, worn, pure machine. Really along the lines of how the mech are descrbed in all the fluff and what Blanche portrays imho. Fantastic stuff! Especially love what you've done with the Myrmidons' (?) axes - really great effect
