The thing looks like an actual toy the more I look at it, like an action figure off a store shelf. That's what's really wrong, it doesn't look like a wargaming miniature but a Toys-R-Us Action Figure.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

The Lord of Battle thing looks awesome. It's very retro, going back to the early days of Chaos. Makes me want to spend money.

And the old Lord of Battles always reminded me of Zod from Go-Bots.

@H.B.M.C: Nice, but oddly I think I sorta like it??

On a side note, my son is going to loose it tomorrow when he sees the Necron vehicle.

Yeah the abundance of skulls on a Khornate vehicle is neither surprising nor gratuitous. If it was a Teentch vehicle than perhaps, but it's not.

I'd love to hear, from all those crying "toy!" or "action figure!", just how would you redesign it to make it less so? Please describe the features that you would change, and describe what it would look like after said changes.

Have you even read the thread? People have spoken about the head, the arms, the chest, the unfortunate "belly" gun and how they'd change it. Pay attention.

I do pay attention, thank you so very much. I've read almost NO real description of what they'd rather it look like, just a whole lot of "The head looks terrible", or "how can it hit ground units with that axe", or numerous references to a penile weapon from people who fail basic anatomy.

The Khorne one isn't terrible. It's got some good features. The necron ones just look like fatter, even uglier Monoliths. Seriously. Those things look stupid as hell.

But regardless, I wouldn't buy EITHER of these, nor any other giant fightan robots that GW comes out with. No Riptides, no Wraithknights, none of that crap.

Chaos is really the last faction that could've used a giant walker. Why not give them a new daemon instead, or something like a scaled up 'decimator' engine. Just think what the side view of this thing will look like, my bet is it's ass will be at least 8 inches long.

Too bulbous/smooth/regular. It looks like a big Space Marine with some arrow icons and an extra packet of skulls tossed onto a Baneblade.

Look at the Forgeworlds chaos walkers. They look much more organic, tortured, scarred, asymetrical. See how the arrows/stars on the Decimator look tortured, they look like scars rising out of the metal itself, not like the clean ornamentation of this thing.

I'm just hoping its the tip of the iceberg, although I can't believe that Marines somewhere are not getting something next month, but my Orks and Guard are hoping as well.

Okay, something constructive. Do you think that a decent effort scarring this model up and making it look more battleworn would improve it significantly?

The Decimator is a good example. That thing is huge and intimidating. This thing is not intimidating. The reaction has been laughter, not "OMGWTFBBQ!". That's not a good thing.

We were joking about what sort of "Knight" the Marines were going to get ('cause let's face it, Marine players need their oval base release as well) and someone joked that it'd be called the Stormknight. Weird thing is, that's not a bad name. It fits with Marine nomenclature, and isn’t too on the nose (as much as an out-of-no-where-fluff-retcon massive feth-off walker can be on the nose).

One thing I note about the Decimator's look is that its armor is VERY angular, where a lot of the newer stuff that people are blasting is that the newer stuff in the main Citadel line has more compound curves to its armor plating, such as the 'Fiends and the DV Helbrute. I can understand that aesthetic criticism, although I disagree that it's a design point that invites the label of "toy".

I assume that you do not mean me, as i just made a comment, hardly crying. Il give you a more in depth opinion though, as you seem so interested lol
Id ditch it and make a tower of skulls, a doom blaster or a cauldron of blood instead.
Im not sure how you could improve that look, its the entire concept that i am not keen on, not any particular detail or features it has.
I never really liked the Idea of having an upper torso on wheels/tracks in the first place, the lord of battle and the deathdealer that I had in Epic scale, never got much loving. Seemed to me like the whole idea never really took much thought.
Having said all that though, I cant say I hate it at this stage, there may be more options for some of the parts that make it look better to me I guess.

Really? I was going to go with the Termiknightor.

But honestly the only thing that chaos warmachine is good for it to be used for kitbashing with its relevant parts (much like the warshrine) and never assembled as intended. That said, the necron monoliths are fantastic, especially the open one. The only thing I don't trust are the flight stands on those monoliths, hopefully they're the sturdy ones used for fliers like the valkyrie rather than the ball-socket or the regular flying stands.

If you look at the pic again, they're definitely on flier stands. Big oval, cross shaped stem.

The Khorne thingy really is just another toy to go along with the rest of the latest Chaos releases imo. What could be improved about it? Dunno, the entire concept was just plain stupid to begin with so in GW's defence there was really no way they could have made it look good at all! That being said I think if the torso part was less chubby looking it might start to look okay, just okay mind you..

Now the monoliths on the other hand. Damn they look nice, dare I say it, amazing! Also the best thing on a flyer stand since the valkyrie or maybe the DE ship.

Still, Mantic got my money for this summer so unless GW do something absolutely incredible they still aren't getting my money.
