Hey Dakka Dakka, I have been thinking about trying to do a 4500+ game with a friend but not sure which way is should go.. I know since I've got 5000 points total that im kind of limited in which ways i could do it/ Regardless you've always been helpful to me before so this is a list of everything I've got.

HQ's
Logan Grimnar-275pts
Njal Stromcaller-270pts
Ragnar Blackmane-240pts
Ulrik The Slayer-180pts
Bjorn The Fell-Handed-270pts(an option if i take one less dreadnought)

Elites
10 terminators-30pts each
10 wolf scoats-15pts each
2 Dreadnought's-105pts each
1 Iron Priest plus 3 Thrall-Servitors(50pts for IP 30 for all TS)
1 Lone Wolf-20pts

Troops
30 Grey Hunters-15pts each
30 Blood Claws-15pts each
Lukas the Trickster to join BloodClaw-140pts

So I have 60 total models for my troops 30 grey hunters and 30 blood claw but they can be interchanged

Fast Attack
6 Swiftclaw Biker's- 25pts each
10 Skyclaw assualt-18pts each
1 landspeeder-5opts

Heavy Support
5 Long Fang-15pts each
1 Predator-60pts
1 Whirlwind-85pts
1 Vindicator-115pts
1 Land Raider Crusader-250pts
1 Land Raider Redeemer-240pts

Dedicated Transports
I have my rhino's set up so they can be rhinos razorbacks or whirlwinds
2 rhinos-35pts each
2 razorbacks-40pts each
2 droppods-35pts each

so that is everything I have (i think) and have thought of a few ways to field them but I like other peoples opinions..... I forgot what i was going to type, drats haha well I hope someone see's some intresting lists in my troops.

P.S. I'm not lazy I just like to see how someone else would field my army, different views and styles bring many things to the table

Take all the troops so you can nab any available objective, also take all transports. Is this an apoc game?

Sadly the people i play with both loath and detest apoc games. So its just standard mission types, but i have the battle mission book so the type of game can vary.

So 4500-5000pts but not apoc?
HQs take both Logan Grimnar and njarl stormcaller.
Logan because is is just a great HQ and Njarl because he can affect the whole board with his living storm.

I'd take 3 HQs at that point level. Might as well take advantage of that where you can.

I'm curious, what don't you like about Apoc?

I don't not like it, its the people that i play with (people in my dorm) that don't so i've never had an oppertunity to play it, they prefer just big battles with one Force organization chart, so as to make sure you choose things that matter over just throwing every single big thing you have. which i can understand but i would like to try apoc some time. I think i have enough

I think they've got the wrong impression of Apoc. You should try talking them into playing a game, especially with limitted, or even exluding, super-heavies. You still have to think strategicly, but instead of watching a single skirmish play out (ie regular 40k) you get to see how it has an impact on the rest of the picture. EDIT: The most important thing is to play it as a narrative, not a serious game. Otherwise we'd all just Flank March a horde of Leman Russes and Landraiders full of TH/SS Termies.

Anyway, the only things I wouldn't do is take Bjorn or the Drop Pods. At that level, unless you can drop an entirely self-sufficient force, it is suicide.

It also has to do with time restraints due to college, we could either do one huge game that takes all day or 3 smaller ones for a little tournament. I;m going to try to talk them into it though, but other then me only one other person out of the 7 of us (each having a different army) have even near 5000 points the next highest is my friend who has around 4500 of Nids but hes not sure how much he has now after the new dex cause he hasnt had time to try it out. Over all college is the biggest reason i havent yet..... I think
