an experience I'd prefer to stay away from.. when I was little I was the one who stood still while the other kids would run from the bees I was weird back then too
I was mowing one time and stirred up a nest of wasps in one of those hollow tube clotheslines, and one stung me (in the back of the neck- so yes). I got me revenge by filling one end of the tube with expanding foam, and then dropping firecrackers in the open hole
well he got a sting in his ear... can you believe it? he was crying so much my wife had to get him from his kindergarden... then i got to get home earlier from work as my wife later on had a meeting of parents in HER kindergarden... well it got me early from work... so where was the harm... and thankfully he later on felt quickly better till he was back to his true self... the lil man is a true stand up man
the thing that made it so complicated is that my wife and my own father both are reacting alergic to wasp poison...so that made me very cautious as he might be so too...which he seems he isn´t... *pheeewwww*

lol... wasps and gnats are lifeforms i could totally do without...
bees are quite lovley in their own right... and teaches kids some basic virtues
Without bees, all life on earth would cease! Mosquitos all need to die though- Frogs can get a supplementary diet from something else!

As a man of science myself, I feel the return on your generosity comes from surrounding yourself with people worthy of your generosity. The LoER has some upstanding and reputable members, and I've no doubt any of us would help out another or pass along something we have no interest in that would be of great use to someone else.
That said, I posted a few pics of the Armorcast walls you sent me.
Hell Yeah Skalk! If I'm not using it, or I have duplicates, and you need/want it, why not? I'd do the same for any League member, to be invited to the League means that that person has some talent, they have already been deemed worthy by their wares.
lol... i think RW laughs now about those that point out the three words joke as a fail... or he is seriously worse than we though
that train looks really inspiring...
and the first pics you showed dave are the ruined buildings of the german parliament... which got rebuilt after the world war... that terrain builder sure new his stuff!
thanks for sharing... (one of these days i really should invest in some steampunky clothes for me... looking smart and classy... that would be something new for me )

oh, and some resin containers from ebay too, helps sate my resin crate and box fetish

I guess, just seems incredibly watery to me. I usually find that if you're having it pool like that you're spraying too heavily or the paint is too thin.
Wow, It's been a while since I looked here Dave. You've been busy! The Nuka machines are looking great! Do you have it painted up yet? Glad you liked the Shotties and the bottles.
I've been pretty swamped here, lots of working. Not much down time. That is good, because during down time I really miss my wife and kids. 3 More weeks, and we should be moving them out here!
I might have some pics to share later in the weekend. Depends on if I am allowed to sculpt or not. Lots of old friends have been calling wanting to hang out.
Keep up the great stuff! I'll try to stop by more often!
Thanks Jake! You've got every excuse to be away bro, your IRL shake-up is completely excusable man I'm glad everything is working out for you, get your family back, then you'll have a chance to redefine normal again!

I can see Galorn is going to busy when he gets back casting these up or are you producing your own now Dave LOL those Hirst moulds do they work well with resin
Jake missing family is not a good thing but glad to hear they will be joining you soon though, don't forget mind those Steam-punk weapons are on my christmas list
OK what is the best mat varnish to use by the way or would you recommend
that´s a seriously bruised and battered nuka vending machine... the slight pinkish hue i am not that fond of... but if you add a bit of a brown wash to it then i think you are heading to the finishing line...
1. All Nuka Cola machines are 200+ years old, they have survived the ravages of Nuclear Winter, and only 2 are still "Pristine" as far as we know.
2. It's not done yet -That was just the first shadow wash coats
Perhaps you'll all still cringe at the sepia wash stage...
If you still cringe, pay attention at the next few steps and perhaps you'll learn the secret of "patience" 3. This was a miscast
@Marty- the first Masterclass book is definitely worth the money, yes
The second one, I've already used partly on the camo pattern of my first Thunderbolt, I'll know more when Max sends me a titan to paint for him
The Gatling there on display was a reproduction, but yes, the guys do fire it on occasion, definitely during their re-enactments.
One is coming up next weekend!

Nooo..the one here was the small gun, the Parrot gun is Zoggin 'Uge!
You can see the 30 Lb Parrot has a much bigger, thicker carriage.
Wagon wheels were all the same size back then.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Ahh It's a 10lb Parrot!
The 10-pounder Parrott rifles were manufactured with two different bore diameters. An early war model had a 2.9-inch bore, while the model produced in 1863 had a 3-inch bore. Yet both of these cannon are commonly referred to as 10- and, sometimes, 12-pounders, even though the ammunition used varied in weight. The 2.9-inch caliber Parrott rifle is, and should be, referred to as a 10-pounder Parrott rifle and the 3-inch caliber should be referred to as only a Model 1863 3-inch caliber Parrott rifle, not a 10-pounder Parrott rifle.
SOURCE: http://www.civilwarartillery.com/main800.htm 10 Pounder Parrott Specifications:
Tube Length: 78 inches | Tube Weight: 890 pounds
Bore Diameter: 2.9 inches | Range: 2000 yards | Shot: Cast Iron
SOURCE: http://www.cwartillery.org/aguns.html
The system of rifled ordnance designed by Robert Parker Parrott is the best example of the confusion resulting from the attempt to pour new wine into old bottles. His rifled gun with a 2.9-inch bore was designated a 10-pounder Parrott, his 3.67-inch rifle a 20-pounder Parrott, and so forth. However, depending upon the type of ammunition used, these pounder designations were more theoretical than real. Parrot's largest rifles, the 8-inch and 10-inch, were known as 200- and 300-pounders in the Army, but as 150- and 250-pounders in the Navy.
Automatically Appended Next Post: That vid stopped, and must have been poorly uploaded, but Parrott guns are apparently many sizes 10-20-30pounders, up to massive fort guns.

You have just brought back repressed memories of the best ultramarines I have ever seen. The main difference is that, while you excel (read as bleed liquid awesomeness from your brush, to let it infuse the model with realism) at weathering, the person to whom I am about to link seems almost obsessed with cleanliness. He doesn't weather very much, as it would clash with his amazing freehand. But for you, the weathering is always the most amazing part. Here is a link, to show you what I mean (warning, clicking on the link may lead to loss of time, job, and the game, as you cannot resist going through all 54 pages in one sitting. If you were able to read this whole 300-something pile of win, you'll probably be fine as long as you aren't drinking anything.) http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/3525-Ricky-s-Ultramarines-Update!?highlight=ricky+chang By the way, did you see my pm, Dave?
Also, sorry for any derailment this may have caused: please continue with your regularly scheduled riveting.

Well see I want an android like some of my siblings, but my dad gets a free iphone from work, so I assume he's just going to add me to that plan.. cause you know any phone is better than no phone.. and LDD fashion statement? Might I add as a junior in highschool years after the Ipod craze started.. I have never had an Ipod or Iphone or any of that
Well, just so happens I can arrange membership for life status, and help with the better i-phone situation, I do just have this one little formality, I need some papers signed, with blood, and the pledge of a small little price, trust me, you really won't notice it's gone at all guys,,,,,guys?
I'm working on something with acetate too! remember my holo table project? well, since i got the imperial sector and shrine of the aquila kits, I want to do some small touches and have roped my dad to print me off a bunch of stained glass window motifs and images on clear plastic so i can cut and shut them in the windows of the shrine and hack some up to be roken glass etc!
can you do something similar for your machines? perhaps backlight them, now that would be cool! :-)
Great work love the new transfer on the machine brings it life, you should get them on store when you get it sorted.
I see what you mean as to thinner transfers needed slight bulkiness to it, you know I cant believe there is no company out there producing transfers to personal designs online
Bottom picture Dave thats the one to use
nerdfest09 that sounds interesting got any pics ? or at least post some when they are done
Does any one know where I can get some personal designs printed up ?

If you can still find overhead transparencies for a laser printer, that is the way to go. Well, they are solid resin, so no, you really can't put LEDs or anything like that in them.

We can't sell anything with the Nuka Cola or Sunset logos, for trademark reasons. we'd get sued. There isn't a company out there with a web to print service for decals because you can print your own waterslide decals at home, there is no market for such a print-on-demand company to exist. Tis the 21st century, and most people have most of the required equipment for that process in their home already. However, I have a color Laser printer, and most of the decal sheets you find are for inkjet printers. You need to use something that can withstand the heat from a fuser, otherwise the plastic film would melt all over the hot fuser and ruin it. And a new fuser is not cheap.

those bigger punches i have still on my to buy list... circles are so much in need for many things... for some stoopid reason i would love to make my own weehls... but the circle cutter is not worth a damn... i think this will be my investion of the month^^
1" or 25mm is REALLY hard to find for some strange reason!
The first set was only $8 (only went up to 1/2"), then the second set was only $5 (that went up to 3/4"), and the 1" I paid $16 for it alone on ebay!
LDD- I don't know either..like I said, I've seen Testors kit for inkjet, but I have no clue where to start
http://www.decalpaper.com/category-s/3.htm Although seems too expensive
YES! Macs are GREAT for graphics! That is true!
but..
1. you can't run a database for gak 2. I've been working on PCs as my job for 16 years, as far as I know, a Mac works by sitting in front of it wishing and grunting and what you wished for will appear on the screen, so don't ask me what to get for it, I'm useless tech support ;D
there is without a doubt nothing you couldn´t order from ebay... they had babies... nuclear warheads and other stuff...so why not something really useful^^
as i am atm constantly looking when bored to ebay.uk and ebay.com and ebay.de... you can imagine that i have a nie list... dunno how many pages atm... i lost track long ago...
LOL @ LDD Sorry bud, I seriously don't know anything about macs. I was making a joke about grunting at it. Even if no one else got it, I made myself LOL

I grunt at it a lot swear curse, I would like to punch it at times but I got the humour so don't panic
Ok, I'm thoroughly impressed and a little burned out. I've spent the last week reading the entirety of this thread just because it started with Necromunda terrain. I've recently decided to get back into Necro and Inq28 and I started reading through it and just couldn't stop. Kudos to you, sir! Mind you, my own hobby time has been severely delayed, but it was worth it.
I'll check out the great little toolshop close to my workplace next week. It's more than 150 years old, the inside looks like an old english pharmacy and they have virtually every tool, plus you get that Olivander feeling when you buy something. I've bought hollow punches from them before, maybe they sell the 25mm version for less than 16€.
with such small shops that might be the case... feel priviliged to have such an anachronism still in your vicinity...that is definitely a place to learn something new about hobby and tools!!!
wish i had such a shop... got my tools from my father in law... if we would be talking still i cold thank him for all the deeds i was able to do with them... alas i cant stand him^^
well... i do now some shops actually... but me... driving for more then ten kilometers is too far...
and dave... we had that discussion when we were talking about fomecore in berlin... and i actually now know a shop that sells that too^^
as for berlin getting knocked to the ground... aye... that happened... not it is rebuilt... but it stayed filthy...^^
and at nerfest... i am way ahead of you, my wife even asked me if she should cut open her bras she wasn´t using anymore... the lil clapmps and hooks... don´t let them go to waste either!!!
and max... man! where have you been hiding again...? and what the hell is a yellow jacket compared to a wasp???
my father went purple ... all over... when stung by a wasp... recently i mentioned my kid was stung... after much confusion we let our hair finally settle again as we saw that our son wasn´t alergic to these lil pests...
i hate them... and i kill them whenever possible... BUT... did you know... that when a wasp dies... and her body gets smashed to a pulp... it oozes a smell that calls other wasps for retaliation??? that is telling everything you ever need to know about these monsters...
and dave.... what´s now the real difference then? bad attitude cant be worth two different name s now?
LOL W.A.S.P Skalk LMAO OMG the penultimate of 80's Butt-Rock!
@Vik, the Wasps with the red bellies are Yellow Jackets, a nastier sub-species, tainted by Chaos. Don't ask anymore questions, or the -=I=- will come and get ya!
Lol, cheers guys! I have a very patient Nerd wench who never questions why i want to go to the hardware store for 'bits of stuff, pipes, grates etc' and she was actually the one who suggested I use her underwires! she just pulled it out and said "Do you want this" I sad "hell yeah I do.... and I'll take the underwire as well"
And Vik, yeah.... I kinda have started a few threads but my main thread is really the only one I use http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/356350.page it's kind of jumpy as i bounce from thing to thing but i'd love to have you guys along for the ride! especially as i'm looking more and more into terrain!
My goal currently is to work really hard on getting these stained glass chapel windows to look so damn good that Dsteingass is going to want to change his name to Dstainedglass!
Moltar wrote:I feel like that Chaos flyer goes from WTF to pretty fething awesome the second you remove that dragon head and neck.
That's what I was thinking! A cockpit right where the neck meets the body would look sweet Though as a loyalist through and through, it's all purely hypothetical
The leak also showed a few other monster like goodies for Chaos. Hard-cover codex=How much do GW think they can stiff the market for?
Automatically Appended Next Post: The walking one with the whip-chains, and smoke-stacks, they are trying to woo back the folks who left them for PP's Warmahordes.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay just saw the costs,,,,I'm sorry but 50bucks is what I paid for the hard-bound MAIN rulebook.
the walking chaos thing at 66bucks is nuts and when all other flyers are under 50bucks, them charging new landraider price for the dragon machine is also nuts.
At this rate, GW are definitely pricing themselves a financial grave
dsteingass wrote: They also made a collector's edition chaos codex, 1000 copies, already sold out today! They aren't hurting much buddy!
So, they are right in thinking that the rules for PT Barnum apply to wargamers, but there are also folks who collect anything limited edition. I was not that happy about 33dollar codecii. Now 50bucks, I have not gotten 6th ed yet 75bucks, and even once I have an income again, I am balking at that price.I may have to stick with 3rd/4th and 5th ed as I have those already.
But yeah, the wings and torso would make it into a flyer, the head, neck and claws would make their way into something else entirely, probably several things actually.
Vik, I can't imagine you swearing: I swear all the time, but, out of the two times I have worked with finecast, neither involved swearing. Though, with tendrils that thin, I may have to make an exception...
Still want that, especially because my warhammer steampunk stuff is chaos! Should probably get pictures of my chaos space dwarves, and my khador lazy-converted terminators up soon. Or later. Or when I buy the $50 codex. Just got 30 from helping my dad test cables, so it shouldn't be that hard. Still, though. $50 for the codex? This is even worse for me, because I have 8 armies, one of which I still need the book for. Oh, make that two
Seriously, what is it with everyone... all I'm hearing atm is whine whine whine haters gonna hate blah blah blah.
GW aren't going to lose sleep over a minority of people... oh, and considering they were the second biggest profit grossing company within the uk the last financial year... yeah, many feth's are just not given...

Well so far, everyone here on daves thread are the only people who I know thats said they don't like the new stuff...
...but you can take it as read that the new codex has Cultists in them... as I know some people have complained that the first wave didnt include them (although why would they from a marketing point of view, as they have just released DV)
dsteingass wrote:I wonder if the dragon flier can be made three different ways? I'll know in a week or so whenever I get my copy of WD, the new/retro/rebooted WD.
judging from what was said in WD, I don't think it can... but... it does say the wing is in several peices, which bodes well for conversions. tbh, the lack of multiple varients in the kit doesnt bother me overly... its the kind of thing you only get once really, but If I did the new 'dex I'd be a daemon-engine army, with the daemon birds as fast attack, the six limbed daemons as heavy support and Hell brutes as elites... and for cheap troops, cultists
^ WD, and the GW manager said nothing about kit options for the dragon.. oh well

@ AUC As for cultist they are the best thing and a welcomed addition, it was the other kits and miniatures I was referring to, they seem pretty badly designed and slightly child like but thats just my opinion.
