an experience I'd prefer to stay away from.. when I was little I was the one who stood still while the other kids would run from the bees I was weird back then too

Only time I've ever been stung by a bee was when I stepped on a dead one I didn't see.

Been attacked by wasps before though. They seem to like to go for the neck and eye area... -.-

Of course now I just stupidly walk up to them with a piece of paper and a jar.

Staying still is the best way to avoid being stung actually, bees will never bother you if you don't bother them.

I was mowing one time and stirred up a nest of wasps in one of those hollow tube clotheslines, and one stung me (in the back of the neck- so yes). I got me revenge by filling one end of the tube with expanding foam, and then dropping firecrackers in the open hole

well he got a sting in his ear... can you believe it? he was crying so much my wife had to get him from his kindergarden... then i got to get home earlier from work as my wife later on had a meeting of parents in HER kindergarden... well it got me early from work... so where was the harm... and thankfully he later on felt quickly better till he was back to his true self... the lil man is a true stand up man

the thing that made it so complicated is that my wife and my own father both are reacting alergic to wasp poison...so that made me very cautious as he might be so too...which he seems he isn´t... *pheeewwww*

lol... wasps and gnats are lifeforms i could totally do without...

bees are quite lovley in their own right... and teaches kids some basic virtues

Without bees, all life on earth would cease! Mosquitos all need to die though- Frogs can get a supplementary diet from something else!

btw, I made these basic Measurements for Vitruvian, and I thought I might as well post them here for posterity's sake and in case someone else wants to tackle the scratchbuilding!

What is a Fair Price you would pay for a Nuka-Cola or Sunset Sarsaparilla machine cast?

Nice supply drop you scored.

As a man of science myself, I feel the return on your generosity comes from surrounding yourself with people worthy of your generosity. The LoER has some upstanding and reputable members, and I've no doubt any of us would help out another or pass along something we have no interest in that would be of great use to someone else.

That said, I posted a few pics of the Armorcast walls you sent me.

Wow, It's been a while since I looked here Dave. You've been busy! The Nuka machines are looking great! Do you have it painted up yet? Glad you liked the Shotties and the bottles.

I've been pretty swamped here, lots of working. Not much down time. That is good, because during down time I really miss my wife and kids. 3 More weeks, and we should be moving them out here!

I might have some pics to share later in the weekend. Depends on if I am allowed to sculpt or not. Lots of old friends have been calling wanting to hang out.

1. All Nuka Cola machines are 200+ years old, they have survived the ravages of Nuclear Winter, and only 2 are still "Pristine" as far as we know.
2. It's not done yet -That was just the first shadow wash coats
Perhaps you'll all still cringe at the sepia wash stage...

If you still cringe, pay attention at the next few steps and perhaps you'll learn the secret of "patience"
3. This was a miscast

@Marty- the first Masterclass book is definitely worth the money, yes
The second one, I've already used partly on the camo pattern of my first Thunderbolt, I'll know more when Max sends me a titan to paint for him

Nooo..the one here was the small gun, the Parrot gun is Zoggin 'Uge!

You can see the 30 Lb Parrot has a much bigger, thicker carriage.
Wagon wheels were all the same size back then.

Ahh It's a 10lb Parrot!
The 10-pounder Parrott rifles were manufactured with two different bore diameters. An early war model had a 2.9-inch bore, while the model produced in 1863 had a 3-inch bore. Yet both of these cannon are commonly referred to as 10- and, sometimes, 12-pounders, even though the ammunition used varied in weight. The 2.9-inch caliber Parrott rifle is, and should be, referred to as a 10-pounder Parrott rifle and the 3-inch caliber should be referred to as only a Model 1863 3-inch caliber Parrott rifle, not a 10-pounder Parrott rifle.

10 Pounder Parrott Specifications:
Tube Length: 78 inches | Tube Weight: 890 pounds
Bore Diameter: 2.9 inches | Range: 2000 yards | Shot: Cast Iron

The system of rifled ordnance designed by Robert Parker Parrott is the best example of the confusion resulting from the attempt to pour new wine into old bottles. His rifled gun with a 2.9-inch bore was designated a 10-pounder Parrott, his 3.67-inch rifle a 20-pounder Parrott, and so forth. However, depending upon the type of ammunition used, these pounder designations were more theoretical than real. Parrot's largest rifles, the 8-inch and 10-inch, were known as 200- and 300-pounders in the Army, but as 150- and 250-pounders in the Navy.

the first vid i was quite certain the gatling would win... the shear amount of bullets in the air by it must´ve brought the win...

and yes... the second vid was quite scary... i imagined any second that the firing guy would just fall like a log...

That vid stopped, and must have been poorly uploaded, but Parrott guns are apparently many sizes 10-20-30pounders, up to massive fort guns.

Yes! Either Aluminum or some sort of stainless steel, it survived well, but not with that sheen, oils will see to that!

That is a formulation to thin the paint down that is supposed to work better than just water

You have just brought back repressed memories of the best ultramarines I have ever seen. The main difference is that, while you excel (read as bleed liquid awesomeness from your brush, to let it infuse the model with realism) at weathering, the person to whom I am about to link seems almost obsessed with cleanliness. He doesn't weather very much, as it would clash with his amazing freehand. But for you, the weathering is always the most amazing part. Here is a link, to show you what I mean (warning, clicking on the link may lead to loss of time, job, and the game, as you cannot resist going through all 54 pages in one sitting. If you were able to read this whole 300-something pile of win, you'll probably be fine as long as you aren't drinking anything.) http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/3525-Ricky-s-Ultramarines-Update!?highlight=ricky+chang
By the way, did you see my pm, Dave?
Also, sorry for any derailment this may have caused: please continue with your regularly scheduled riveting.

If you can still find overhead transparencies for a laser printer, that is the way to go. Well, they are solid resin, so no, you really can't put LEDs or anything like that in them.

We can't sell anything with the Nuka Cola or Sunset logos, for trademark reasons. we'd get sued. There isn't a company out there with a web to print service for decals because you can print your own waterslide decals at home, there is no market for such a print-on-demand company to exist. Tis the 21st century, and most people have most of the required equipment for that process in their home already. However, I have a color Laser printer, and most of the decal sheets you find are for inkjet printers. You need to use something that can withstand the heat from a fuser, otherwise the plastic film would melt all over the hot fuser and ruin it. And a new fuser is not cheap.

those bigger punches i have still on my to buy list... circles are so much in need for many things... for some stoopid reason i would love to make my own weehls... but the circle cutter is not worth a damn... i think this will be my investion of the month^^

1" or 25mm is REALLY hard to find for some strange reason!
The first set was only $8 (only went up to 1/2"), then the second set was only $5 (that went up to 3/4"), and the 1" I paid $16 for it alone on ebay!

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/09/19 21:00:49

had a look at th german ebay... and pricing is almost the same.. 25mm for nearly 16€s... and i just bet it is indian steel product...

for that matter their range goes up to 54 mm for...wait for it... 78€´s...????

1. you can't run a database for gak
2. I've been working on PCs as my job for 16 years, as far as I know, a Mac works by sitting in front of it wishing and grunting and what you wished for will appear on the screen, so don't ask me what to get for it, I'm useless tech support ;D

That's what I was thinking! A cockpit right where the neck meets the body would look sweet Though as a loyalist through and through, it's all purely hypothetical

Okay just saw the costs,,,,I'm sorry but 50bucks is what I paid for the hard-bound MAIN rulebook.
the walking chaos thing at 66bucks is nuts and when all other flyers are under 50bucks, them charging new landraider price for the dragon machine is also nuts.

At this rate, GW are definitely pricing themselves a financial grave

So, they are right in thinking that the rules for PT Barnum apply to wargamers, but there are also folks who collect anything limited edition. I was not that happy about 33dollar codecii. Now 50bucks, I have not gotten 6th ed yet 75bucks, and even once I have an income again, I am balking at that price.I may have to stick with 3rd/4th and 5th ed as I have those already.

too good to refuse for someone out to do a steampunk army...

i bet i can do something stunning with that model...

and i for one dont think that the choas dragon can look suitable as a flyer... a cockpit would just look wrong on that build...

If that minis is finecast you will learn to hate the material for so many delicate parts Vik.

As for the chaos dragon flyer, it needs no cockpit as it is a daemon engine, so a living construct as it were

yes, i think you are spot on... but i gotta try the new material someday anywayd... i will probably swear like a tinker ^^

that and the smoke stacks made me interested in the first place!

Tempted by the dragon, but not by the price

But yeah, the wings and torso would make it into a flyer, the head, neck and claws would make their way into something else entirely, probably several things actually.

Vik, I can't imagine you swearing: I swear all the time, but, out of the two times I have worked with finecast, neither involved swearing. Though, with tendrils that thin, I may have to make an exception...

Still want that, especially because my warhammer steampunk stuff is chaos! Should probably get pictures of my chaos space dwarves, and my khador lazy-converted terminators up soon. Or later. Or when I buy the $50 codex. Just got 30 from helping my dad test cables, so it shouldn't be that hard. Still, though. $50 for the codex? This is even worse for me, because I have 8 armies, one of which I still need the book for. Oh, make that two

hey glom... welcome back!

and well... i can make nuns go red all over when i swear... i am by far a saint

and all that thin detail... yeah i suppose that will get tricky^^

and the prices for codecies well...since the woods are dying...probably due to a lack of paper ?

Seriously, what is it with everyone... all I'm hearing atm is whine whine whine haters gonna hate blah blah blah.

GW aren't going to lose sleep over a minority of people... oh, and considering they were the second biggest profit grossing company within the uk the last financial year... yeah, many feth's are just not given...

dsteingass wrote:I like it just the way it is personally, but I can see a lot of things being done here with this kit.

Woot, can I get a hell yeah!!!

Sorry but the way I see it is, is that the Helldrake is the love child of:

Mecha-Ghidora

Bahamut-Zero

Zapdos

To be fair AUC you are the only one who has said out right they like them, so working on that as a percentage how are we a minority

I do think some have conversion potential but as kits they are in the league of gak models, sorry but that is just my opinion and the other million's in the minority.

I wonder if the dragon flier can be made three different ways? I'll know in a week or so whenever I get my copy of WD, the new/retro/rebooted WD.

Well so far, everyone here on daves thread are the only people who I know thats said they don't like the new stuff...

...but you can take it as read that the new codex has Cultists in them... as I know some people have complained that the first wave didnt include them (although why would they from a marketing point of view, as they have just released DV)

dsteingass wrote:I wonder if the dragon flier can be made three different ways? I'll know in a week or so whenever I get my copy of WD, the new/retro/rebooted WD.

judging from what was said in WD, I don't think it can... but... it does say the wing is in several peices, which bodes well for conversions. tbh, the lack of multiple varients in the kit doesnt bother me overly... its the kind of thing you only get once really, but If I did the new 'dex I'd be a daemon-engine army, with the daemon birds as fast attack, the six limbed daemons as heavy support and Hell brutes as elites... and for cheap troops, cultists

Probably Dave Andrews? Big, biker-looking dude? He is a personal Hero of mine, his JOB is to build terrain for GW for a living!

I can see why he is your hero then I cant wait to get the new WD, conversion corner that is going to be of interest

@ AUC As for cultist they are the best thing and a welcomed addition, it was the other kits and miniatures I was referring to, they seem pretty badly designed and slightly child like but thats just my opinion.

The Robo dragon is the better of the kits but still not a fan, it does not even have a tail just arse jets what the hell of a design decision was that LOL

Yeah I see the Chaos Flier as a Demon Engine too, sort of like the new reboot of the Cylon Raiders, just a Cylon Brain built into a ship with some gooey organic tissue for the gross effect

Yeah the new white dwarf is nice, as I say though the extra £ on the price is a tad steep...
