Dave if you start making tons of FO terrain, I might just have to make a FO board and buy all these minis you keep showing!

@childe I've been meaning to get the chaos ogryn (with the jackhammer), replace it with a killa kan drill, and sculpt/make a diving helmet for him

Once again Dave you astound me and make me envious all at the same time, I gather this was a trade by the mix of bits ?

Looks like the Fallout board is coming to fruition that mad puppet mini will work nicely even with crabs

Have you seen this kit might be of interest to you :

Post by: dsteingass

No, these were just cheap ebay finds. Thanks Vik, she is always on the lookout for more Dwarves. LDD the stuff coming out of Russia for gaming these days is awesome isn't it? That fort thing is no exception! If Zvezda is carrying that peice, we will see it in the US soon, since IMEX is the US distributor for Zvezda,I think Dragon Models is the same parent company in China, they also make a very popular line of military model kits, as well as accurate 1/6 scale stuff.

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/07 16:51:12

Post by: lone dirty dog

Yes, there was loads of kits in that line including minis OK they might not be that great but they have conversion potential just depends on the scale

I dont know who the UK distributor is or even if we have one shame they have a lot of potential indeed

Dragon does make a line of 1/6th scale figures I have a few of those as well, actually mainly the earlier releases including some exclusives (including the winter Gerhard which was hard to get ) but I am looking at selling these now.

Looks like those kits aren't available in UK yet, that site has English options, but when you click over you can't access any of the sci-fi kits.

UK distributor is The Hobby Company limited, based in MK. From a quick look at their site there didn't seem to be an actual store though, so not sure if they're just trade distribution?
Got my eye on a couple of the Dragon armour kits, da boyz lootin' fingas is getting itchy

Raiders look sweet kitted out with some decent dakka. The juve looks like he needs some more bats so he can repair his one though

*shivers* ahhhhh! good to see you finally back in the hobby action again! the raiders are looking very good! tho some tweaks if possible could make them perfect...

the baseball chap could look better if you could do something about the clip of his SMG... looks fishy in these pics...

the autoshotgun while cool as hell could look better if you make a new stock for this one... the current one is way underproportioned as is...

by the way... those stel plates are a very good looking background for your mini presentations...

as for the dwarves... okidoki... was just thinking about your better half when i saw these... but i will keep my eyes open if i happen to see others send my best wishes !

I own pretty much the whole Robogear range (those sprues Dave just bought must be new, I hadn't seen them before) and I can tell you, the scale is to large, but they have potential for machinery etc.
You can order bitz from those kits via http://www.hoardobits.com/
I had the luck to find I german online shop that cleared its stock of robogear two years ago. It was a 75% discount on kits that were already incredibly cheap. A package of two army deals (50 miniatures each) for 30€ and the likes.

Vik, the shotgun stock was properly sized, but I had to cut it down to fit into his arm, what do you mean fishy on the SMG?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Thanks Two Spartan!

@Childe- you can get away with lying to her, but each step you do properly or improperly during the whole "Wasteland Survival Guide" questline has an effect later on.

The questline is a pain in the ass, but there are 15 variations of permanent perks you can get modifying poison res, Rad resist, DMG resist, Crit chance, sneak, medicine, speech, and Health, from +2 to +6 depending on how well you do on the guide. Entire sets of random mini-encounters throughout the wasteland are also tied to this quest.

If you convince Moira not to write it in the first place, you take a huge Karma hit and get the dream crusher perk:
"Something about your presence dampens others' desires to excel. While it can be a drag at parties, it has the happy coincidence of lowering an enemy's chance of a Critical hit on you by 50%. A dull bore is a safe bore." She still gives you a 30% discount and her repair skills improve.

If you write a good guide, you'll encounter random wastelanders hunting molerats who say things like "because of this guide my family is up to two meals a day now" etc.

The questline is a pain, but well worth doing it right, and worth doing all the bonus objectives.

It was out of scale just a bit in the end
I've redeemed myself since those amateur days Vik

In anticipation of my Armorcast Pack Brahmin arriving, I built a Scavenger with cigarette and Nuka Cola-holding hand

Body, slung hunting rifle, and left arm are from Wargames Factory WW2 Late G.I. Sprue
Left arm is from Warlord WW2 Late British Commandos Sprue
Head is a West Wind Productions G.I. in jeep cap.
Nuka Cola bottle is from RSJake
Cigarette is the barrel from a grease gun from the same G.I. Sprue, glued between his fingers then cut off

Then this guy can be used as a Caravan guard or just a generic Wastelander.

hmmm... not too sure on the skinny one but you hit definitly full makrs on the last one... and here the autogun looks way better ... stock look more fitting too...beside... the pose with the stock over the arm is just awesome cool... like the british soldiers wield their LA85 and other guns...

Sorry about the length of this post by the way, my post-apoc enthusiasm got the better of me. My terrain making "skills" (such as they are ) are pretty poor, but you can see some of my later Post-Apoc stuff if you follow the links to the battlereport at the top of the page.

Oh wow man! Great figs! Great scenario, and it looks liek it was a great game too!

I love the bus, that's a nice piece! You've probably seen my initial work on a Corvega Atomic V8, I have plans for a Nuka Cola truck, a City-liner bus, and of course, the cool Atomic Pick-up truck from New Vegas is a must as well.

Don't worry man, posts are never too long here, you're stuff is great! You obviously have a good grasp of basic hobby techniques, really the only thing that will help you improve and hone those skills is just building more stuff. Learning by doing is the best thing you can do. We are also a helpful bunch, always full of new ideas and techniques, freely shared.

You just have to take this kind of stuff with it

A lot of product ideas (perhaps not good ideas, but ideas nonetheless) have been floating around my head a lot lately. Fridges and lockers (with separately cast doors) to name a few. I've been hitting the print screen a LOT as I walk around trying to think what would people want in their Fallout games to make them more immersive?

.>And then some things I just want for myself

well... i tell you what... i will run a killing spree through rivet city soon... i am currently heading there anyway and i am inbetween LVL 7 and 8...so i am not overpowered^^

and dave... yeah... nice ideas... if possible... the illuminated advertisings would be a nice thing... could be done with thick wire...or right into the sculpting mass and produce a negative in the first place...just an indent so to say....

maybe you could do some of these cool looking doors? the ones that close rather slow...with the mechanics and so on?

or this of course :

no, you can be any level there, there is no combat, you don't even need to do any of psycho Braun's quests, just talk to the old lady, go to the abandoned house, touch the objects in this order: radio, pitcher, gnome, pitcher, cinder block, gnome, and bottle, then fire up the Chinese Invasion and you're done.

Ja, dass ist faszinierend herr panda.

Doctor Stanislaus Braun is the Overseer of Vault 112, locked by his own choice in a Vault-Tec prototype simulation in which he appears as a little girl named Betty. Before the Great War, he was a brilliant German Vault-Tec scientist, the head of Future-Tec and the creator of the Garden of Eden Creation Kit.

Maybe the VA wasn't so great?

Has to be one of the more interesting people in that game though. Hearing about it you just think you're going to find nothing but a dead vault with perhaps a trace to the GECK in it, but soon enough you find out the secret behind the place and are sort of disappointed with Braun.

This seems like a good place as any to ask, but Malifaux? what exactly is it? and what kind of % are plastic models? I saw some on a website i kinda liked the look of but wanted to see what it's all about from the horses mouth so to speak :-) seeing as how Dave has some sweet miners etc. a few pages back...... quite a few now...... apparently because of Rogue Wolves ;-)

Post by: dsteingass

Malifaux is a city between alternate dimensions where winds of magic are harnessed and souls of people can be used to power steampunk stuff. Imagine anything from old West type buildings, to Victorian castles. There are several factions present, The Guild are the relentless Capitalists hell-bent on mining and exporting soulstones to Earth, The Arcanists (my faction of choice) are the Steampunkiest, they also control the Miners and Steamfitter's Union, which is the arch-nemesis for the greedy Guild. The Guild is often responsible for unexplained cave-ins, mysterious deaths, and other nefarious typical Robber-Baron-type behavior towards the workers who make them rich.

Malifaux is a skirmish game, but uses a deck of 52 standard cards called a "Fate Deck", instead of dice, where you can literally use the card suites as ways to "cheat fate" of combat and actions.

Wyrd originally cast everything in metal, but now they are going digital like all modern mini-makers, so their new plastics are able to look exactly like their concept art (since they use the same files), they are the cleanest plastic miniature casts I have ever seen.

The only bad thing about the game is Wyrd's partnership with Terraclips for their "official" terrain, it's crappy card-based terrain, not fit for any self-respecting gamer's table IMHO

FO and AC are too different to be compared tbh. FO is FPS with a large slice of plot, whereas AC is a humongous peice of plot with an RPG side to it.

having said that, AC:3 is supposed to be a lot more free roaming than previous games, and is set outside New York circa American war of Independence.

I looked at Dishonoured for the first time the other day, and it smacked of steampunk-esque AC... which was a let down tbh. Especially for a Bethesda game...

AC just isn't the type of game I enjoy personally,(I have not played any of the AC series)...too much subterfuge involved, I prefer a Straight-up fight, preferably at medium to close range wielding shotguns, especially shotguns.

>And yes, Dishonored is all about plot. You sneak over a fence, and you need to listen to long, slow conversation dialog..all the damn time. And if you miss something, you can't replay the holotape, so I don't have any idea what to do. Basically, you were framed for the murder of the Empress, so you want to get even, I understand that part. However, it has a morality engine, I need all the runes I can get, because those buy spells, but to get one of those runes, I had to infect a still of bootleg Plague Elixer with the very Rat Plague that is responsible for the corpses that are EVERYWHERE, no place for the dead, they are filling river barges full of corpses, but they are just everywhere. You can play the game completely non-lethally, but I don't want to.

You see I like the subterfuge tbh, I loved MGS because of that, and I'm a historical nut so AC makes the nice transition of both worlds.

You make Dishonoured sound better than it first looked tbh... I might pick it up eventually when its cheap or on pre-owned then. I like the idea of the non lethal approach, too many games where murder is key these days, so it makes a nice change imo.

OK fell in late but Milton Keynes is built on a grid system (new concept to the UK ) hence every few yards you come to a round about, basically once you get in to it you cant get back out

I have relatives that live their …….. well survive their at least

Also Dave thought I would post these they turned up today and well they were better than I hoped they would be, they are also a hard plastic so converting should be fun

Might look good in a FO setting what do you think

No, I just like the look of the cars and they turned up in a search on ebay, I have to say I am glad the plastic is a hard plastic and not that soft crap.

I bought 3 sets of 4 cars so a little conversion work will be done here and there, so maybe a slightly damaged car may appear with some work

I was going through some old stuff and found a load of conversion bits and minis and thought they would make a nice gang, then I needed vehicles as well but wanted something more civilian style

Hence the search on ebay and these popped up and I thought of your thread and FO and had to buy them, well come on the look is to cool not to use, the gangers will be slick stylised gangers with a sci-fi feel to them.

Post by: RSJake

I agree with El Vik on the bleed-through issue. After it's painted, I doubt there will be any bleed-through. However if you are still concerned about it, prime and paint the inside around the lights too.

As for the rest of the 20+ pages I had to catch up on....

Wow.

You just do the coolest stuff Dave!

But after you posted the game shot of it, I think you need to build a Nuka-Cola Fridge as well!

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/12 12:34:59

Post by: dsteingass

I don't think paint will be enough on the bottom, will it? I'll have to cover the sides of the LEDs with something so it doesn't bleed that rectangular light chamber under the interior. I really bit off more than I can chew with this damn project, it's gotta get done, and I still haven't even started on the rear circuit, nor do I know how I am going to get the rear fin tail lights to be lit. That plan went ploin-shaped too.

LDD, would you be willing to part with 1 set of them?

Thanks Jake! I think you are right..the fridge must be done.

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/12 12:46:12

Post by: RSJake

Well, you can always cover the bleed-through areas with masking tape if the area won't be visisble. That blue painter's tape should work.

I don't envy you on the scope of this project. You really have you work cut out for you.

But if you don't push yourself to do things outside your comfort zone, you will never find out what you are capable of!

I know you can do this. If anyone can, you can.

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/12 12:54:59

Post by: Dr H

If those LEDs are just for the light out the bottom, you could potentially seal all around the LEDs with opaque glue (like from a hot glue gun thing). That would stop the LEDs from lighting the rest of the area.

I'd have thought that primer and paint would hide those rectangular bleedthroughs, maybe a coat of black inside if you're that concerned - I'm assuming the circles are downward facing spots? It's been a while since I last saw it in action so can't recall the layout

Been a while since I saw one so can't recall if this is correct, but haven't the trolley back-packs been convertedby the behemoths?
The wire under the handle (the rear of the trolley) removed and wire added over the top, so that when it's worn there's just an opening at the top?

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/14 10:18:37

Whoa thats a cool behemoth! The door, hydrant and necklace are great but the shopping cart and power armour arm brace are phenomenal!

Thats so cool how the mesh and wire became instantly recognisable as a mini shopping trolley, they would be great as scenery outside the front of a super duper mart =)

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/14 12:06:07

Post by: Viktor von Domm

i think that trap door thingy where you push the trolley usually will flip inside the trolley room... remember those cages made from trolleys all over the game? just the same principle...

and i would add at least one solemn cartweehl to the mix...just for the lulz...

and you gotta love your PC inventivness...that hydrant... needs to be done for scenic casting purposes too!!!...

oh... and before anyone can say it than me...

"i see flanges..."

Of course vik I seem to have forgotten how shopping trolleys are constructed Once it's on his back the flap would drop down to form the'back' of the pack.

Thanks guys! The shopping cart was all from experience, actually When I was a kid, my Mom worked at a Grocery Store that was, at the time, largely unchanged from the 1950s. I must have remembered the 50's styling and shape subconsciously of the cart

And yes Vik, You are correct about the flap that allows them to be stacked upat the front of the store or in the cart-corral thing out in the parking lot! Monkey just helped translate your idea, that was the secret that was escaping me

:/ Dave... you won't like me now... but... I just had another look at the Behemoth... and its shopping trolley is weird... the opening is at the top... not along the back like you'd expect... its a bit silly... but yeah it's like its squished the trolley onto its own back :S

Oh I'm not too worried about the opening, the top is solid mesh in trhe front-on pics, I'll probably just leave it open as-is, it demonstrates the general idea enough methinks

Yeah two different FEV sources, those ones are from the Mariposa military base while the FO3 ones have a sort of mutated form of it. The difference was the FO3 strain made them grow further as they aged and made their faces stuck the way they are.

Should also make some Nightkin eventually.

With Tabitha of course.

and perhaps Lily.

Born in 2078, Lily lived a simple life in Vault 17 - until the Master's army raided the vault. The 75-year old grandmother was dragged outside, where she saw the sun for the first time.
Lily was then dipped in the vats of Forced Evolutionary Virus, emerging as a super mutant. She became one of the Master's elite guards - a nightkin - working sometimes as a spy or an assassin.

where the hell are those from?!?! I've never seen blue mutants before!

The Necromunda Project: Fallout @ 2012/10/15 04:22:42

Post by: SagesStone

Fallout New Vegas, they're a type of super mutant called nightkin. Basically like the other western mutants, but they're stealth based being addicted to stealthboys causing a fair amount of mental issues with them. Pretty much they don't like it when someone can see them and will usually fly into a rage about it.

Looking at it they were in all of them except FO3.

Totally agree love the conversion work (plus some dam fine minis witch I have to buy know ) the door is cracking and the fire hydrant looks great although I think the top section needs a curve to it.

The shopping trolly is cracking love that, I might not really like the game it but the creativity it has inspired is worth it

Maybe I should play these games

Post by: dsteingass

Thanks guys! Much appreciated!

Yes, it was the first Generation Super Mutants created at Mariposa which made the smart SuperMutants in all colors. In this way, FO:NV has more in common with the older games fluff-wise. FO:3 is understandably different, as the East Coast story was largely untold until then.

All of it is the Enclave's fault ultimately though.

Looking at that comparison shot, that door must have come from a big corvega

Perhaps this snippet from the Fallout Wiki will help the great skin color debate

Average super mutants stand approximately 10.4 feet tall (although they typically stand with hunched backs that reduce them to about 7.8 feet) and weigh around 800 pounds, possibly even more. Their skin color is predominately grayish green in case of Mariposa mutants and yellow with tints of red and green in the case of Vault 87 ones, although some mutants with other skin colors also exist. Their skin is extremely tough, and their muscle and bone structure are enhanced well beyond the human norm.

That skin tone is working out really well. The supermutants look very cool.
A bit more yellow wouldn't hurt, but they look pretty close to what they should as is.

The additional bonus to playing as a female character is if you take the "black widow" perk you get a damage bonus against the opposite sex and most of the baddies are male...and that's a good excuse unless someone catches your girl wearing a nightdress...
