We all want our shiny official Fallout toys, and it may still be May, but I don't want to make any promises that upset you, or get me lynched (either by you, or Chris!)
Can I fallback on the Nintendo defence?
"Nintendo ate my homework"? Sorry, don't know that one.
Don't get me wrong, I don't blame you or anything. I understand that things don't always work flawlessly and even if they do, coordination between everyone involved takes time. I appreciate that you are honest about the (possible) release date and agree, it's way better than putting down a date that you then can't keep.
I got some enjoyment out of reading the rules. They're good. Pretty happy you released them ahead of time. Sadly real life prevented me from playing any test games yet. Kind of getting in the (seriously unhelpful) position where I think waiting for release will be better and easier than dealing with dice conversion tables.
I just get all sorts of ideas what to do with my shinies the closer we get to release date. Upcoming releases always have been my most productive hobby times. Heh. After the February release didn't pan out I started to sculpt my Sole Survivor to keep me busy.. She'll be finished soon, so the May release would just be perfect timing for me. If there's another delay... I don't know. I may just have to go sculpt a lewd version of Piper, and it'll be your fault.

Now, I can't say we will hit the lofty heights of Miyamota, but its a good line none the less.
I think the hardest part is, other the ongoing development of battlemode, and then the rules writing of wave 2-5... not to mention the continued sculpting, there isn't much we can do internally to speed things up. Once we own our own manufacturing, that will be a different kettle of fish.
Is there some sort of one button click thing where I can buy ALL THE THINGS already?
This is 40 pages of info, I cannot read through all of them at the moment. Any links to condensed information about this?
It's not like I have played 1500+ hours among all Fallout games and I need this NOW or anything like that. Just curious.
You can button click an all in for around a $1000 USD for the stuff that will be released if you got the money to blow. Had their been a kickstarter i may have gone all in but that is too much for me. I pre ordered the starter and started making some terrain.
My plan is a set a month after the initial stuff arrived slowly building up npc stuff that way it'll get painted in a reasonable time instead of having a mountain of stuff waiting.
Looking forward to painting death claws and robots!

Good stance.

Something similar crossed my mind. Not that it stopped me from going all in, but now it'll be interesting to see whether getting my stuff gives me the motivation to get a lot painted initially or if I'm going to sit paralyzed on a mountain of resin.
Since that figure will be the pre-order bonus for wave 2 I wonder if it will get the resin treatment then?
Yeah. I just assumed it was resin because everything else is. Not that I could have verified one way or another because my local store was undecided about carrying Wasteland Warfare last I checked.
Maybe instead of a resin Zetan for wave 2, perhaps there's a lower order value threshold to get it? I seem to remember Modiphius wanted to start with a bang and make wave 1 fairly large to get a good selection out from the start, with following waves being smaller to some degree. Would make sense to have a lower threshold then.
Not bothered, though. I'm not a fan of PVC and until I hold Modiphius's variety in my hands and can form a firsthand opinion, I simply have no opinion on it. If it turns out that it's not that great, it's just a Zetan and not someone important like Nuka-Girl.
I am asking on Facebook for clarification but so far it seems the Zetan is staying PVC even as the Wave 2 pre-order bonus.
John Gordon Chris Birch will that flip when Zeta is the 2nd wave pre-order bonus? I.e. Nuka Girl then becomes PVC for and Zeta resin?

John Gordon Chris Birch Ah ok. So the Zetan will never be available in resin? Bummer.
*edit with update from Chris Birch*
So maybe a resin Zetan is coming!
Chris Birch John Gordon everything else is so it’s likely we’ll do one in resin maybe in wave 2

Just coming back to this. Was wondering if the May release date is still a go? Group preordered everything when it first went up and was wondering when it might be shipping out

All I know is that Wayland has updated saying it's not being delivered to me until end of June
As of Thursday, Modiphius is still speaking to the Chinese factory about shipping dates. So for now there's no date set yet.
I have a feeling Wayland's guess (and that's all it is) is somewhat more likely than shipping by the end of May. I think China is more than two weeks away by ship, so May seems ever more unlikely.
Typically games seem to take about a month to hit Europe from various KS projects where they've told us about individual ships so backers can track them,
but there's always the more expensive air option too

Unless they change their mind, I'm pretty sure Chris Birch also confirmed shipping by ship.
"The shipment will leave early next week and takes about 6 weeks to the UK, this means the stock should be with our warehouse at the end of June. It will then take around a week to get the stock unpacked and prepare the worldwide shipments. We'll give you an update as this gets closer.
For those waiting on pre-orders in stores, a ship will be taking a massive three container loads to our US distributors direct from China containing the PVC starter sets, dice sets and Red Rocket Scenic sets. As all the faction core sets and expansion sets are being made in the UK in resin they also have to go on a separate ship to the US, we'll be aiming to get that out to reach the US around the same time. "
TrueCadian wrote: any goals of making a resin red rocket scenic set? i'm not a fan of the cardstock version cause i want to make hq dioramas.
To my knowledge there are no plans for resin terrain larger than the pieces of scatter terrain we've seen so far. Originally it was said that terrain like Red Rocket was meant to be beginner friendly (card being cheaper than resin or plastic, doesn't require painting, is easy to assemble) and I haven't read anything to suggest that Modiphius's stance has changed,
I don't think we'll see complete resin terrain kits of that size at least for the foreseeable future.
Oh my, that looks like a ground version of the Vertibird Gatling gun! Wonder if that will be a Brotherhood-only special item or something everyone can use?
Manchu wrote: TBH I think that would nave happened by now.
Not sure I'd agree. I think TTCombat made some Fallout themed MDF, but they already have post-apocalyptic stuff in their range and know there's a market for their products.
For most, though, I could see Wasteland Warfare being a bit of an unknown quantity for now. Will it catch on? Will competitive mode be played in stores everywhere or is there only a niche interest in narrative mode?
Plus with Red Rocket being one of the most propagated parts of Fallout 4, making that specific thing might be too risky for 3rd party companies to invest money in if they just get a C&D.

From the development blog:
A set of military barricades is expected of any defensive position and the new turrets are going to come in useful - especially the manned gatling gun.
"Any" sounds good to me. My guess is it'll depend on how you intend to play. I could see these being restricted in competitive mode (possibly because of a restriction of point defense, but also because of heavy weapon upgrades - who knows?). In narrative mode there's no guiding rules except your sense of morality, which should be switched off immediately at the sight of this baby.

yeah... i know the printed cardstock is super beginner friendly but was just hoping that they would have a resin version like how they have plastic and resin options for all their figures. something for the serious collectors. i am not a fan of cardstock & laser cut terrain. but to each their own.

You won't see me disagree, but what can you do? Doesn't bother me too much. i have plenty of Mantic plastic scenery and a variety of other stuff to keep me busy for a long while, so I'm going to go and happily add the resin pieces Modiphius does release for flavor.

well let's hope another company can come up with some cool larger resin terrain pieces that are 40s and 50s era inspired. would buy an abandoned retro gas station in a flash or other figures that are falloutesque inspired. came across this figure the other day. if the scale is 32mm, i am sooooooo using her in my wandering band of survivors.
TrueCadian wrote: will you be creating other characters and items from earlier fallout games? love frank but would kill for this that i saw in fallout tactics.
They have the license for Fallout 1 and 2. I don't know about Tactics. Frank appears to be an early Fallout 2 model because their stated release plan has Enclave in wave 2 (they're initially focusing mostly on Fallout 4 with some Fallout 3 thrown in). Makes sense that they would do a unified East Coast/West Coast release for them considering Fallout 2 doesn't have much in the way of graphics to inspire any models.
Also a nice model there. Manufaktura, eh? Got to look into that if the scale is good.
Manchu wrote: Is that the estimate for the UK only or also the US?
When they talked about the plastic starters, they said a separate shipment goes to America so the release of that should happen around the same time as in Europe.
I can't say for sure about the resin models, which are apparently made in Europe.
I do know that resin starters were said to be delayed for North America because that's a late addition and will effectively be plastic starters with the models swapped out for the resin versions in the UK before being shipped (so the plastic starters need to arrive in the UK first and get shipped to America afterwards, which adds time).
Would be cool if Jon Webb popped up to clarify, but I think the crew is currently at UK Games Expo (correct me if I got the name wrong), so that may take a bit.

By Chris Birch on Facebook:
As we mentioned in the update it will take about a week to unpack and prepare the shipments, then when you receive it will depend where in the world you are. UK / EU will be a few days from when the warehouse starts shipping, USA could be a week depending how close to a hub you are. Rest of the World longer. We'll be shipping the orders out in date order - the warehouse can do about a couple of hundred orders per day and this all has to be scheduled so they can focus their resources on it. We expect it will take about a week to ten days to complete the whole pre-order (as previously mentioned those who ordered before the cut-off date get shipped first). We'll update everyone particularly when we know the container is through customs and we can give firm dates for shipping.

just waiting on confirmation from manufaktura about scale but one collector on another forum said that this hunter girl measures about 33mm tall without base. the picture below shows nora standing around 33mm so you think this should work.
While we are all waiting for the boat to arrive so that we can start shipping pre-orders out to folks and getting the game into stores, I wanted to let folks know we are looking for some new blood to help us grow the Wargames team, continuing to develop both Fallout:Wasteland Warfare and the Achtung!Cthulhu miniature games, as well as come on board at the start of our next major project, which will be announced in the near future.
We are a small but growing team, with some pretty major licences. Its a busy team, but is friendly and we even have fun sometimes. Who doesn't want me as a boss too, right?
Looking forward to seeing some CVs in the near future.
Modiphius is looking for an experienced wargame player to join our development team.
The role will involve playtesting games in their developing forms, giving feedback and ideas to get them ready for production. You will often be working to a tight brief, under time critical pressure to ensure we meet the vision and timeframe for each product.
As well as playtesting and development, you may also be called on to research products and licences, assist at conventions and shows running demos or supporting the stand, proofreading documents and other ad hoc tasks as required (sometimes we have to pack minis in house!)
The ideal candidate would game on a regular basis with a wide knowledge of both mainstream and niche games, have strong spoken and written English, be able to work in a tight and sometimes hectic team environment, understand that your work may sometimes be rejected without cause (or at least batted back for another pass), give and receive constructive criticism, ideally have some painting and modelling ability and most importantly be able to work in our central London office.
If you enjoy tinkering with rule sets and games, and are looking for a challenging but rewarding role (with a chance to see your name in the credits of commercially released product) apply here: https://www.modiphius.com/jobs.html
Edit: Posting stuff works better if you don't hit submit halfway through...
Anyway, another comment on the release schedule by Chris Birch on Facebook:
We have confirmation they arrive in the uk port 1st July so will then depend whether customs delay it which could take several days, then its trucked to the uk warehouse and needs about a week to unpack the pallets and prep the shipments. We’ll be doing what we can to reduce that time. I’ll share ship tracking info when I get it
Sounds like we should have this available late July and early August then. Score! August is my birthday month and my wife likes Fallout so someone my be asking for FWW for his birthday!
DarkTraveler777 wrote: Sounds like we should have this available late July and early August then. Score! August is my birthday month and my wife likes Fallout so someone my be asking for FWW for his birthday!
We are hoping so, though I still don't want to give dates, in case boats sink or customs decides they want an army of Deathclaws.
We had a case shipped for UK Games Expo (not for sale, obviously) to show people the core game and expansions are real (you could pick them up and everything ) and Chris and I, along with designer James are planning some videos for the next few weeks to show off more of the game and some of the minis as we wait for shipping to begin.
So, thanks for the patience everyone, its really really close now...
The new development blog post for raiders says there are new sculpts with the expansions, but it seems to me there are only 5 different sculpts in total, compared to all the other factions this is a disappointment. I couldn't justify buying the expansion if only 2 of the 6 models were new sculpts. this is such a small scale tabletop game I was expecting 0 duplication. Can you confirm that there will be more sculpts or that these are the final product?
also the raider bosses picture doesn't zoom.
on a more positive note, everything looks awesome and I am really looking forward to this finally arriving
Yeah, that's odd. And you even get the same guy that's in the core box another two times in the expansion.
Now I'm hoping for some Fallout 3 Raiders to add more variety. What's there is nice, but for what's been said to be one of the hordey factions, there's not much variety there.
Exactly, every other expansion and core box has all individual sculpts with the same(ish) amount of models. Doesn't make sense for raiders to be so mass produced compared to the others with same model counts especially given the variety of raider possibilities compared to minutemen for example,
Unless there are lots of raider sub groups that haven't been previewed yet. I am hoping it is not the case as I really wanted raiders to be my faction but if duplicates are a raider thing I will be looking at the other factions to give my love to instead. More ghouls is important
It might be a case of getting so many Raider sub-factions that the individual groups will be smaller than you'd expect. We'll get Operators, Disciples and Pack down the line, and I assume Rust Devils as well. There has been no word of Far Harbor if I recall, but you'd expect Trappers there. Then Modiphius has proven that they don't update Fallout 3 looks to Fallout 4, so there's a chance we'll get more Raiders for that, too. Plus, perhaps, Slavers from Paradise Falls and the Pitt.
Perhaps they've decided that's too many Raiders overall to be viable unless there are fewer sculpts per group?
It would be a lot of sculpts, on top of the institute that releases wave 2.
I went back through all the different box sets checking duplication, and the only duplication outside of creatures like ghouls, that I could see is between the core 2 player set and faction starter sets. Which i am happy about as I can swap out the PVC for resin without spending more money for resin versions. So unless as you say it is about all the other factions unseen yet I cant see why the duplication.
I'd love to see a side by side size comparison with the bad roll games punkapocalypse figures as they would make great alternatives to avoid duplicates.
Alternate heads and arms for raiders with the Wave 2 release would solve the problem too
Chris Birch just posted an update on shipping. From Facebook:
We've just sent the following update to retailers (we cannot guarantee this reaches every retailer as we don't have them all on our mailing list but will do our best to get it resent by distributors:
The Two Player Starter sets are en-route from China to both the UK and USA. The estimated arrival in port is July 1st (UK), 24th-30th July (USA). We expect customs and delivery to our warehouses to take approximately 10-14 days meaning European distributors should receive stock late July and North America early to mid August (bearing in mind Impressions will be shut for the week of GenCon).
We are shipping the resin expansion sets direct from the UK and are aiming to get them in to the USA for early August so your pre-orders can all ship together.
Probably nothing new for Europe, but may clear up the situation in America a bit.
Hi there we're so close now! The container ship containing the Two Player Starter Sets has arrived in the port, and is now in the hands of customs. Which means we're close to two very important dates so please read below!
IF YOU PRE-ORDERED THROUGH OUR WEBSTORE BY MARCH 1st you have until this Sunday morning, the 8th July to advise us of any updates to your order (e.g change of address) to support@modiphius.com. On Monday we'll be downloading all these priority orders received by March 1st to ship first.
IF YOU HAVE NOT YET PRE-ORDERED - you have until Sunday 15th to place your pre-order online with us and get the Nuka Cola girl pre-order bonus miniature (as long as your order totals £120 or more excluding shipping). After the 15th we'll be downloading all pre-orders received since March 2nd to process immediately after the priority orders. From the 16th July, Nuka Girl miniatures will no longer be added to orders of £120 or more. You'll be able to get Nuka Girl in later pre-orders and from conventions.
PLEASE NOTE: This DOES NOT mean we start shipping next week! We have to wait approx 7-10 days for customs to clear the container and for it to be trucked to our warehouse. This could be quicker, if it is we'll let you know. We download the orders from the store to check them over, confirm who gets the Nuka Girl bonus, and get them in a fit format ready for the warehouse to process. Once the container arrives it will be unpacked quickly but then it will be a few days for the warehouse to organise all the stock ready for fulfilment to begin. This preparation hopefully reduces any delays.
Just a few notes:
If you ordered a total of £120 or more split across several orders you still qualify for Nuka Girl.
The £120 threshold does not include shipping.
We cannot organise pickups from GenCon, the Modiphius office or the seaport
FINALLY! We wanted to say thanks so much for being patient during the long development process. We're adding a little something extra to every pre-ordered Two Player Starter box to show our appreciation. We're really proud of the Fallout: Wasteland Warfare game and can't wait to hear how you get on with it. We're planning some awesome reveals for what is to come next so watch out.
I wonder what other factions are going to get heros that can contend with Frank Horrigan? More like a 1v1, I'm sure hes a boat load of points on his own.
What other Heroes might there be? Kellog for synths
Does Modiphius have the rights to 76 also? I would like some Ghoul Raiders
Just heroes? I guess Survivors might get a half naked dude with a pointy stick. That seems to have worked on Frank the last time around.
I'd put my faith in fire power instead. Or Liberty Prime stepping on him. But for most factions, big guns and bigger booms should be answer.
I've not seen Modiphius comment on the Fallout 76 license. I think they said when it was announced that they were not made aware of it. Would be cool if they get it, though. The Ferals seem to be back to looking cool in that game. Also, giant sloth.

Fallout 76 hey... mmm, that would be a thing
We already have plenty lined up for the next few waves (expect an announcement on that once we are happy wave one is getting into people's hands), but yes 76 is on our radar and we have some exciting ideas about how we will be bringing new play experiences to the Wasteland as we explore this new part of the world.

Well that sounds incredibly promising. I suspect New Vegas and FO3 would be the height of popularity for the next waves mind.
Is there any news on the Wave 1 shipping Jon? Last I heard it was all at the warehouse and being sorted (as of Monday).

Fallout 3 (2 and 1) are already included as part of the next few waves, so they will be along in time and are not impacted by any 76 plans. New Vegas remains out of our reach at present sadly.
In terms of shipping, Chris will announce when it is moving. Its still getting sorted at Warehouse is my understanding (its a big old pile of toys) but I am not on the logistics side so can't give any concrete information either way.
I know folks are itching, we want it moving too so we can announce what's happening for wave two as well as get everyone playing with wave one.

Thanks Jon, look forward to the update coming.
That's a shame about New Vegas content; presumably that's down to another layer of IP rights and approval etc. with Obsidian? Especially as it seems to be the most popular of the 'newer' games in the franchise.

The enclave will lean on the older games for sure, so Frank won't be coming out to bat alone.
I'm not sure we have announced what else there might be yet, so I better keep my mouth shut there
Or have we said the Master...
Gulp...
The master is a lie. I played Fallout 1 and never came across him.
While on topic of coming new shinies, I don't know if you can talk about it, but are there plans for Atom Cats? Asking for a friend who's a big fan of them.

Wave 2 is going to be so much fun. and very, very expensive.
SHIPPING NEWS (& GENCON): Hi folks just to let you know where we are, I know there's a lot of you watching your email notifications and post boxes like the world was about to end...
After a huge effort Rita (my amazing wife who runs Modiphius with me and is sometimes seen cosplaying a blonde Nora!) and Benn delivered the shipping data to the warehouse. Some of you have some pretty weird crazy addresses so they had to manually go through over 5,000 lines of order info to be absolutely sure every order would process okay. Big thanks to them it's not a fun job. The warehouse are now getting us a slot to start (they're also doing other companies so they're not just sitting around waiting for us). They've loaded the data their end and we're do some spot checks on it as a final approval today. Once approved they get the packing area set up and start processing the first orders with available stock - soon as this starts I'll confirm. Some items are still dropping in. So far we have the 2 Player sets, dice, Nuka caps, resin starter figures, the three faction core sets, acrylic rulers, Settlement Decks, and now Red Rocket has arrived! The faction character and expansion boxes are being delivered monday, then we're just waiting on the creatures, robots and scenics to drop in next week. We're so close now...
GENCON - We were close to getting the orders out before GenCon, I'd love to have been able to sell Fallout: Wasteland Warfare there and we even paid extra to split our shipment to the US to get the two player starter boxes delivered in time. *** However with the pre-order only just starting I decided NOT to sell at GenCon.*** I don't believe it would be fair on those of you who have waited so long and been so patient. Our little business relies on your good will and the ability to work together on amazing pre-orders like this to deliver an insane amount of models. So at GenCon we'll just be demoing and showing off full copies of the game so do come and check it out and we'd love to see you there to tell you about what's coming (oh the shiny...!)
On localized versions of the game:
We're in talks with several countries for 2019 releases will let you know when we know more
DarkTraveler777 wrote: Classy move to hold off selling at Gen Con until pre-orders ship.
It should be said that they will sell the (previously) free pre-order extras as event models as planned and announced some time back. Definitely the Zetan, which was talked about on Facebook, but I assume Nuka Girl also. So if that's something you're interested in, stopping by Modiphius's stand is worth considering.
But regular stock will not be sold until their pre-orders are fulfilled.

Which I think is decent of them.
Just the Zetan. Not sure if we have announced how you get hold of him, so I won't say 100% but its not "for sale" but will be available... don't tell the boss
We had hoped to get everyone's orders out so we could release at GenCon, but its not fair on all the folks who have pre-orders and have waited so we made the decision to take the hit and not upset our fans.
Seemed like the right thing to do.
Wave two and beyond will be smaller faster waves, to ensure we don't have another huge gap between pre-order and release. Wave one was a big one to get a solid grounding for the game and gives you plenty to be getting on with while we round up those raiders...
Geifer wrote: Hmm, interest8ing. Well, I'll be watching this. I'll have a buddy at Spiel! in Essen later this year and figured he might do some shopping for me.
Got to get me a Zetan or two. You know, for science.
Really looking forward to Essen.
Our German Vault Dweller team have played a big role in helping get Battle Mode ready, so it will be nice to spend some time with them again.
Would be great to see you there Geifer, why send a ninja?
You definately get a gold star for looking out for your customers and not selling early. Those that backed the preorders got everything going and I like the fact that you are being very fair to them.
Yeah found the same post. Sadly as I ordered everything it looks like I will be a week or 2 behind some others. But i can drool over my friends starter set till mine arrives
I preordered mine through my FLGS, I hope that they are posting out retail preorders at the same time.
Would be a shame if I got things late for trying to support my local business.
I know they were very slow in reaching out to retailers, the preorder on their own website being available for ages, which was a shame as it created no real buzz in the store. Also seems to have made the owners less inclined to push it.
Still better than a kick starter that locks retailers out altogether.
They have said the FLGS orders will be after the direct online pre0orders. but i figure it will be days rather than weeks between store orders getting out and those who went all in getting their items.

Me too. I don't expect a huge delay and I've already waited nine months, so what's another week or two? Realistically that's just the danger if you are reliant on every single item being there - if one little cog breaks, the whole machine comes to rest...

I can't speak for the retail side of things but Chris did say that they were expecting all the items to be arriving in the factory this week. It's some of the resin parts that were slightly behind the PVC I believe, so the ones already an route Tuesday were probably the PVC only starter sets.
Did seem to only be a matter of days rather than weeks (hopefully). GamesQuest are dealing with the shipping in UK so there shouldn't be any delay caused by the Dev guys being over in the US for Gen Con.

I thought it was Red Rocket, but didn't pay too much attention. What matters to me is that stuff should come in this week, not what it is specifically.
But yeah, it seems the groundwork has been laid and now it's entirely up to the warehouse.
100BostonFan wrote: Do we know if the direct orders for the USA are going out soon?
What we know is that all orders directly from Modiphius are sent out from Britain and that pre-orders placed before March are processed first.
I doubt that an order from America makes a difference, although how long it's on the way and customs meddling with the parcel will be different for America and Europe.
Hi everyone quick update now I'm back from GenCon. The missing two expansions Super Mutants Suiciders & Brotherhood of Steel Knight Captain Cade & Paladin Danse arrived and outstanding orders (eg Super Mutant and Brotherhood Starter bundles) are now shipping. Stock of Terrain Sets, Creatures and Robot models are ready but waiting on some cards - a set of creatures, and two robots card packs went missing in transit so the printers in France are making another batch for us. As soon as they arrive in the UK at the factory next week the factory can finishing packing the sets - this is delaying shipment on the big bundles that include all of these. We'll let you know as soon as they're in but please be patient as it takes a few days to pack everything properly. Meanwhile later next week we're starting to ship priority orders to distributors who ordered by the cut off so retailers should see those about a week later (depending on the distributor).
Well, it is a good thing I upgraded to resin then because I definitely would not have been happy with the plastic pieces. The mould lines are horrible on them. They aren't the worst board game plastic but they aren't the best either, just slightly below average in my opinion. It could have been the video though so I'll reserve final judgment for when they come.
I got my starter box in the mail! I couldn't sleep, I was a like a little kid on christmas morning.
The mold lines are not terrible, Think Reaper PVC quality. The scale is really close to infinity. The detail isn't as crisp as the resin but looks great none the less. The tokens were a little finicky to get out, like not completely punched all the way through. The quick look through the rule books looks awesome.
I cant wait for my LGS to stock up, I need more minis lol.
Not gonna lie, I am just a tad jealous. good to hear about the PVC, as i have gone all in, i don't think I'll be using the PVC models apart from the deathclaw as all others have alternatives/dupes in the other box, but it is good to know they aren't terrible PVC.
I am hoping someone does an acrylic token set at some point along with an App for settlement/army building.
No acrylic tokens (yet ) but yes we have acrylic rulers.
Wave 2 will be announced once we wrap up shipping wave 1 and get the game into retail.
The last of the raider sculpts are in (and awesome) and are off to be 3D printed.
I am going to be all over those raiders. what do you think the likely turn around time between pre-orders starting and deliveries will be on wave 2?
Much faster than wave 1!
One of the things I have done it reduce wave 2 down from another wave 1 style epic, to smaller, faster bites.
This means wave 2 will only be raiders, with a few extra bits of scenery and creatures.
As such, we can get things out of manufacturing faster, and into your hands faster.
This will continue in future waves, and should see people playing new stuff a lot sooner, vs another massive wave with the next three factions, that doesn't ship for another year.

Awesome news. Sounds like my wallet wont scream quite so loudly when I open it to buy all of wave 2 if it is a smaller wave.

Do they? i cant find them, all they seem to have are the ranged rulers (and of course the awesome bottlecaps)
On topic of the caps, "Set of 50 authentic distressed Nuka-Cola bottle caps with sheet of stickers to add game token symbols on the reverse...". No idea if all tokens from the starter set are covered by this, but it's a way of getting stylish tokens for sure.
JonWebb wrote: One of the things I have done it reduce wave 2 down from another wave 1 style epic, to smaller, faster bites.
Sound choice. I like that Fallout starts with a bang, but once the first wave is out people have a good core selection of models and factions and getting out factions one by one, or one off stuff like Liberty Prime or some scenery, is going to make for an attractive addition. Doesn't have to be wave 1 all over again to appeal.
JonWebb wrote: This means wave 2 will only be raiders, with a few extra bits of scenery and creatures.
Yay, Raiders. The only thing that gets in the way of total happiness is that I need the various power armors for my player characters, most notably Hellfire and T-51. Aside from that I'm looking forward to have these fine Wasteland ladies and gentlemen in my collection.

X01 is coming in wave 2, the power armour expansion is shifting to wave 3.
Enclave power armour is a little further out, but its sculpted and looking good.
Oh, sure. Go ahead, take your time. I'll wait over here and get a glow tan in the meantime. Everyone loves those, right?
But seriously, good to see we'll be getting the X-01 in wave 2. Thanks for the info. I need that one, too (perhaps you're seeing a pattern emerge there ).
At least this time around I'll have wave 1 to keep me busy while I wait. Can't wait to transplant some Minutemen heads on some combat armored BoS Knights and a T-60 guy and make the Minutemen that tiny bit less of a joke. No worries, though. I'll still have Preston...
I think I'm going to blow through the starter box quick as far as painting goes, only because I'm playing on Sunday. I'm going to put Nora in a Sack Hood helmet, an maybe spike armor. I still need to read the rules lol. I'm waiting for the battle reports mainly.
I thought about getting preston to make raider terrain... that guy.
Side note I started a second play through and got to SWAN and that would be awesome for a named character for Super Mutants!

Nice. Have fun.
I'm looking forward to playing myself. The rules look good from reading them. Can't wait.
I was afraid they'd put Garvey in the starter set. If they had, I'd have duplicates of him (the horror...) and I would have definitely turned him into Raider terrain.
I imagine we'll get Swan eventually. They're doing somewhat obscure named Raiders. No reason to not then go and do the much more notable Swan for Super Mutants.
My first game was shakey, and first impressions of doing battle mode wasn't well. The rules are slightly confusing or unclear.
The quick start rules are just for single player. Are the updated rules in the box or online only?
How do you build your force for battle?
Are there scenarios for pvp? I could find deployment charts anywhere.
What equipment each model had was confusing.
I couldn't find anything for models dual wielding weapons.
Piling into close combat, I couldn't find rules for it but remember it happening in the video.
For activation can you double shoot or double melee?
During painting the mutants they had some bad flash lines that I couldn't get easily and left them. The modiphious forums has a bad link also.
Hopefully it was just new game learning, I was slaughtered. I killed the tech slave and that was it, I was tabled by turn 3. The power armor took reduced so many hits, I had a hound and the brute fighting it with no avail.
Psychopomp wrote: I can't remember...are we eventually getting a weapons sprue for conversion purposes? Wasn't that mentioned at some point?
If so, when are we likely to see it? I'd love to be able to do some weapon swaps and repositioning on duplicate minis!
There was definitely talk of the possibility of sprues. when/if we get them though they havent confirmed.

My understanding is that Modiphius will be releasing cap costs for units asap for army building, I am hoping some amazing human being releases an app for settlements and army lists. I think it was the campaign book that I downloaded that did have pvp missions in them, we played several of those as a test. I'd say grab the online PDF to confirm the rules you are using and also play more games as it is always confusing when starting a new game system.

Can't say what's in the box because I don't have my stuff yet, but from reading the rule book (which is free for download on Modiphius's website, and if you ordered from them you should have gotten an E-Mail with download link, too) I remember thinking the rules were written well, using elegant mechanics.
Modiphius said they would release a battle mode PDF today. Now normally people only talk about points, but it has previously been stated there would be army lists with unit and equipment restrictions. This leads me to believe that they'll also cover battle mode scenarios in the document, although that' speculation on my part. The stated goal was to be able to update battle mode as necessary and provide it for free.
How is equipment confusing, if I may ask? You should have a unit card with equipment cards right beside it, similar to how FFG does things.
What do you mean by piling in? You can just wander into base contact with a normal move (which should be covered in the charge rules section) and you can slide around the enemy base after fighting (if I recall - it's been a while since I read the rules and I've had a lot of other stuff on my mind since) to get into a different position (while still remaining in base contact with the original model) to get into base contact with another nearby enemy.
You can shoot and fight twice. Unless you have a weapon (like a missile launcher for instance, if I recall) that restricts this. That's a special rule attached to the weapon though, and should be easy to find.
I'm not a fan of PVC models and had the displeasure of working with some in the last couple of months. The only reason I look forward to the starter set miniatures is to see the quality of Modiphius's PVC for myself. The best thing you can do for fiddly bits, in my experience anyway, is to use a scalpel with a fine, sharp tip so you get even into the toughest spots and the cut and scrape away. Can take a lot of patience, though.
Battle Mode should be up for download today. It contains 5 scenarios for pure combat, as well as army lists (with restrictions) for the three factions so far.
Dual Weilding isn't a thing in the game (yet) though it is noted that its missing (though you don't dual wield in Fallout, so its not an omission by fault, but by design).
PVC is what it is. Its pretty well known how I feel about it in the office, but it does help us get product into new players hands in a more friendly way. I avoid it myself, and luckily we have resin for everything that is in the 2P box, but its certainly a friendlier entry point to the hobby for some, especially given Fallout has a reach beyond us 20 year vets who know how to handle resin etc. Ultimately, the options are there to go either way and we support both.
Equipment is open, though each AI card has a baseline option for those looking to play quick games. More free PDFs are in approval that continue to support the 2P box and give you extra tips on AI/Co-Op play using the core box as a jumping off point.
I'll go poke people about getting the rules up (not in the office as I am on holiday post GenCon. Don't say I don't do anything for you guys :p)

UK REVIEWERS / BLOGGERS - Reminder we have our launch party for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare with Bethesda in London tomorrow at Loading Bar in Shepherds Bush, London. It's currently SOLD OUT but we have some guest list left for press and reviewers so if you can make it please message us ASAP! [on facebook]
There will be a team on hand to demo the various game game modes (solo, co-op, vs) whether you want a quick try or an in-depth narrative adventure, you could win an Alien Zetan miniature or authentic Nuka Cola caps and Modiphius will be exclusively unveiling exciting new Fallout: Wasteland Warfare releases! We are also bringing down some Fallout themed backdrops for all kinds of post-apocalyptic selfie fun and there's a painting competition for people to show of their handiwork.
My question about the equipment is who has what, since there isn't a point value on the cards we use what the models had.
I'll check to see if I can find the battle mode. Just like Bethesda to have a day1 patch, I'll re download the rulebook pdf and take a look for differances.
Maybe I'm used to a GW format for the rules, but even last days zombie apocalypse has a better format in the book. Having to bounce around to find stuff shouldn't be the case. But once again it will become muscle memory once I have a few more games under my belt.
The game did feel one sided though for the human side having the setters upgraded armor plus power armor to deal with.
I'll wait and see what other peoples opinions are on it, it could be me, I'm pretty sure it's just me lol.

In the open format, anyone can have anything. This includes the extra gear you get as you pick up more boxes.
In battle mode, you would need to pay caps for each item you give, within the restrictions provided (it will make more sense when you see Battle Mode)
Points are provided for everything, and designed to be used in any version of the game you prefer to use.
Plan is still on that they go up today, I've radioed into HQ to make sure.
There is an extra PDF of Co-Op help coming, just waiting for the approval nod before we can release it. The 2P box is designed to let you try out a little bit of any of the different ways of playing (narrative, Co-Op, Solo vs AI, Battle Mode or Settlement) or any combination thereof.
Wasteland Warfare is a toolbox that you use to build the game experience you want.
100BostonFan wrote: So I didn't see anything in the rulebook about sticking to one faction when creating your force? Can you mix factions? Are robots a faction?
For narrative play, go crazy. Mix to your hearts content.
For Battle Mode, its more restrictive. Some factions will see cross over in the future, and currently the BoS have access to the Eyebot.
Robots and Creatures will see full force lists in the near future, and again we may start to spread the robot love in the future.
At the very least, Sentry bots and Dogs will likely appear in more factions.
Is there anywhere to see the cards for the miniatures? I know there's a thing on the site for the box set, but I was hoping to get a glance at all the characters.

Not outside the starter set ones they made available...I wouldn't expect them to ever be available for free either as it is part of buying an expansion set.
More importantly, is there any news on the exclusive reveals etc from yesterdays bethesda play part thing?

Any card required for battle mode will be a free download (should be up soon) to prevent people having to buy out of faction to be competitive.
The narrative cards will have to be bought as part of expansions (we need to eat )
Super convenient to get a crashed alien ship. That'll save me a lot of work.
Interesting to see both "waves" and a "campaign box". Does that mean the Mirelurk Queen comes as part of a campaign supplement in the way it was suggested Liberty Prime would come with a campaign to either assemble it or stop the Brotherhood from doing so?
Anyway, good to see Mirelurks. Now if you would excuse me, I'll climb on a mountain and never, ever come down to sea level again.

So the Battle Mode cards we'll be able to download would include Character/Unit cards, Leader/Perk cards, Item Cards, the big equipment like Power Armor cards, and...any others?
And we won't be able to download AI cards, Settlement cards, and the various Wasteland decks? Or am I off on the split there?
By the way, I appreciate the methodology there - having watched a friend buy two unneeded, extra Lambda shuttles just to get multiples of a particular X-Wing upgrade card so he'd have enough for a tournament. I imagine being able to print out extra copies of weapon cards so each unit card can have its own copy will help keep who is armed with what easier to remember.

Yup, if it’s in the battle mode force lists, it will be downloadable.
Things like quests, ai and the like won’t be.
The situation you describe is exactly what we wanted to avoid, as much as selling everyone two behemoths for juicy cards would be profitable, it hurts the community and long term viability of the game.
Wait, hang on. It just occurred to me, there's still no Brahmin in the previews. Not to sound greedy, but it would be good to get those sooner rather than later. Damn.
When I played there was almost a 150 point gap between the settlers and the mutants. Maybe next time the mutants will get the enslaved tech.
Those previews are juicy, cant wait for the pre-order bonus.
Modiphious sent out a email with the links to the battle mode downloads. In there they said they shipped out the single PVC starters and the others are on the way or what some of the hold ups where, I think in the US there is a "box" stuck at customs.
Jon is there Fallout dedicated people in the office? You guys are pumping different games out constantly with updates on top of that.

I'm with you on this, Brahmin should have been wave 1...and then more Brahmin in wave 2 and wave 3.....mainly because i want to create a Brahmin stampede
For now I bought some kids farm yard animal box sets and went all out mad scientist to create some Brahmin.

So, it’s not a dedicated team per se, as we also work on the other wargames. We will continue to grow this as the games progress.
We also have our RPG team and our board game/dev team. We do share dev time where possible, for example the dev team were hard on Fallout through its mid period, before heading off to wrap up Siege (which gets closer to wrapping each day)
Geifer wrote: Wait, hang on. It just occurred to me, there's still no Brahmin in the previews. Not to sound greedy, but it would be good to get those sooner rather than later. Damn.
I'm with you on this, Brahmin should have been wave 1...and then more Brahmin in wave 2 and wave 3.....mainly because i want to create a Brahmin stampede
For now I bought some kids farm yard animal box sets and went all out mad scientist to create some Brahmin.
I had some farm and caravan duty in mind, but mad Brahmin stampede might be fun, too.
Raiding caravans isn't fun if all it carries is three caps and some lint.
It's all I ever think about. Convoy missions have been the bane of my wargaming life. I think I've never played any such game that felt balanced. Either the ambushers had a massive advantage or the convoy was never in any real danger.
The logical conclusion is to get myself a new rule set (Wasteland Warfare this time around) and give it another try.
What's the estimate on retail release? I've just finished an excruciatingly long job hunt period, and I wasn't able to pre-order. But I'm jonesing to get this stuff!
Psychopomp wrote: What's the estimate on retail release? I've just finished an excruciatingly long job hunt period, and I wasn't able to pre-order. But I'm jonesing to get this stuff!
Hopefully end of the month, but please don't take that as 100% accurate.
Obviously the demand has been huge, and coupled with a few annoying gremlins like one batch of cards disappearing in the post, we've been held back ever so slightly.
Still, preorders are continuing to ship and people actually have product in hand, so retail won't be far behind.
It's all good. Looks like plenty of stuff is going out and the projection is that the Vault-Tec bundles should go out in a couple of days. So fingers crossed for the next end of the week.
Knowing my luck my parcel gets lost in the mail, though...
Truly. I was checking Facebook earlier where everyone's posting their shinies and I thought to myself, would I feel dumb if I had all those models to assemble and convert and paint and play with. No sir, I'm so much better off not getting my stuff.
On the news front:
If I got Chris Birch right, we'll be seeing another general update this week. I also don't recall any word about further hick-ups, so everything should be on track and Wault-Tec bundles are hopefully still scheduled to go out this week.
Notifications for the Vault Dweller (play tester) program have gone out. By Jon Webb on Facebook:
Vault Dweller invites have now gone out to everyone on my list.
If you don't get your email by the end of the day, and wanted to be part of the Vault Dweller team, please message Support@modiphius.com marked for attention Jon and I will be in touch ASAP.
You are right, i got sent pics of my friends set about an hour ago. He looked miserable with all those boxes of shiny goodies so clearly we are better off without them all.
I have spoken to 3 (unlucky) people who have had their deliveries and none got tracking or dispatch notices, so i am going to have to watch the letterbox 24 hours a day, cant risk missing the delivery that i am definitely not excited about
Yes, power armor and Supermutants (and other similar models) are on 40mm, as defined in the rulebook. giant models are on 60mm bases as per the rule book.
The last version I downloaded lists 32mm for normal people, but I think that has been corrected to 30mm. If I had my stuff (that I'm totally not looking forward to ) , I would have taken measure of them already. Alas...
I've seen both people who got their orders with and without previous notification. The former might be a slip up and I certainly hope I will know in advance.
You know what would be super helpful for planning my purchases? A list of what cards - by title/name - come in each box set.
Also, are the robots, critters, and terrain going to be in the initial retail release with the faction boxes? I'm not seeing them at the online retailers I've checked...

Robots, Creatures and Scenics are available at retail, but only with retailers who join our direct order scheme. Not everything is commercially viable through distribution due to manufacturing costs, so we had to move some stuff over.
However, rather than make it direct only, we made it available to retailers as part of this scheme. Get your local retailer to get in touch via support@modiphius.com and Cole will get them on board.
As for card lists, I'll add it to the suggestion pile. We have an internal spreadsheet to track everything (well over 1000 cards.... and counting) so there may be a way to make a slimline version available.
str00dles1 wrote:People who preordered via website in the US, is your order coming from OCS in partnership with Game Quest for shipping?
I am assuming yes, as I got a email saying im getting a package, and never got something from them again but wanting to make sure
GamesQuest are our shipping/packing partner, so unless you have a kickstarter outstanding (they do a lot of logistics for a number of companies) then its most likely us sending you your toys.
So wait, the scenery and wasteland creatures are only available direct from the Modiphius webstore, or through retailers who buy them directly from Modiphius at a lower profit margin?
I'm just curious, because I'm waiting for them to show up for pre-order on my FOLR, and this news sounds like I may be waiting indefinitely...
JonWebb wrote: Robots, Creatures and Scenics are available at retail, but only with retailers who join our direct order scheme.
I was going to comment that "scheme" might not be the best word for what you guys are doing, but after a quick Google search it looks like scheme doesn't have the same negative connotation in the UK as it does in the US.
Program or plan might be more neutral terms, at least to US eyes.

Stores can't get some items from distribution, as we can't make them commercially viable if we go that way. As such, you can either order them direct from us, or else get your store to sing up for the programme that lets them order non distro items direct from us.
ZebioLizard2 wrote:How long before all the cards hit the site? Weeks? Months, mostly out of curiosity.
I'll chase this up. Files were prepared, just need to work out where they are in the sign off/upload queue. I'd say weeks not months... if not days.
Is it possible that cards will be nerfed like lets say the broadsider or mutant hound bite and become obsolete? (not that they are but just as an example) Will updated cards be printed?
Maddok_Death wrote: Is it possible that cards will be nerfed like lets say the broadsider or mutant hound bite and become obsolete? (not that they are but just as an example) Will updated cards be printed?
In a perfect world, no. But if we are realistic, there may be the odd card that needs a second go.
They will be made free as PDFs on the website, and I have raised the spectre of doing faction card packs as and when if it gets that bad. So far, there isn't anything game breaking, but like any game a few little bugs may have crept through.
Update on the update which may not be quite as tonight as everybody would like.
Chris Birch on Facebook:
Hi folks, i'm back in the office but waiting on order updates from the warehouse and confirmations of deliveries from our warehouse to give everyone a better picture. It might have to be tomorrow morning so please bear with us. This includes making sure 'it's arriving today' means it actually arrived today. I'll also be including images from the Launch event, and the info on Wave 2 that I gave out.
Got my box of stuff yesterday. I didn't open up everything, but a quick look at the starter box models shows them to be pretty good quality. Some thinner parts are a bit bent, but that's workable.
Oh man, the new development update has so many awesome upcoming models...it is almost making me forget that it looks like it will be another couple of weeks till i get my orders delivered
Aeneades wrote: Good to see confirmation that they are adding more raider sculpts to remove the duplicates shown in the previous previews.
I put my foot down a bit there
There are six new sculpts, two raiders, two psychos, two scavvers.
They swap gender with the existing sculpts, so you now have a mix of male and female raiders and psychos.
The scavvers are all still male, but have different weapons and heads.
There are some very cool details in there. As soon as they are out of Sign Off, we will be showing them (and getting them off to be painted).
Playtesting on the Raiders wraps up next week, so its in to layout and production, and hopefully we will have a much faster and smoother pre-order and release for wave 2.

this is the best news on raiders....Jon you are now my hero for putting your foot down as raiders felt unloved having so many dupes, I am even going to forgive you for regularly mentioning Preston and triggering me
One thing I will say about me, is I try to approach what we do as if I was the customer.
This sometimes may annoy others in the office
So, having that many repeated sculpts across what is technically the swarm army felt off for sure.
In a perfect world, there would be no duplicates in the range, but we are still a small company, and have limited resources. AS such, and knowing the cost of sculpts and production, we have to make sensible decisions.
The raiders felt like we could do better for sure though, and I think when you see the new sculpts you will be happy.
I did spoil this on Facebook the other day, so guess I can share here as the boss didn't throw anything at me... yet...
Happy to hear that. It's true, for a horde faction the duplicates would have stood out even worse. Glad there will be more sculpts.
I don't think anybody realistically expects that every single model is entirely unique. as you say, practicality and all that. But the Raiders felt like they got worse treatment than the other factions such as BoS that has plenty of unique sculpts among their what, ten or so unnamed models?
I think it's not something you want to do, making it appear as if a faction that people may enjoy is a dedicated NPC faction and doesn't need as much love as the poster boys.
Plus with a good number of base sculpts there's plenty of added variety in conversions and kitbashs.
Looking forward to seeing more. That there Raider, who shall henceforth be known as Machete Man, looks promising.
i got to play fallout this weekend, played 5 won 5!
however couple of things have confused me:
1. there is a tutorial mission that gives settlers grenades, however the settlers have no grenade/throw ability - is this a mistake?
2. More frustrating for the owner of the starter set, there is a starter set mission that calls for 4 super mutants, 1 more super mutant model than come with the starter set.
Apart from that working out how the deathclaw attacks was complicated but we think we got there in the end. everything else was great and a lot of fun, I am looking forward to mine turning up and learning about solo/co-op and settlements
Any chance for single models being sold in the near future?
I play brotherhood of steel and looking to make them feel more elite, AKA I just want dudes in power armor. Currently can only have 4. Rather not buy a box set just for one guy!

I’d imagine we will get these on as webstore items in time (like we do for Trek). Getting the product out at all is the current effort of course...
We do have boxes of pure Power Armour coming too, if that helps.

I believe this was stated to be a mistake that will get an errata to bring down the number of Super Mutants to what is in the box.

You do? Nice. I should check on occasion Especially since this means I can get an eventual Seven of Nine (and the Doctor) without having to get the other losers from Voyager.
Unless you're cool and make a drone Seven of Nine in a Borg set, too. I'll always buy more Borg.

So my retail pre-order just arrived and I put down a few minis to see how things played out. Things went pretty smoothly (so... many.. tiny.. tokens..) and I already put in an order for some expansions, but one thing I wasn't clear on - when shooting into close combat, does the -2 cover penalty still apply if the (intended) target was getting cover from an enemy model it is engaged with, negated by the +2 bonus for shooting at a big pile of people, or do you ONLY get the +2 bonus? It seems like the latter, but I wasn't sure.
Then once you land a hit and determine who in the melee actually took the bullet, do they get the +1 armour bonus if they are in cover from the incoming shot because of an enemy model in the melee?
E.g. the Sole Survivor is engaged with a Hound, and standing behind the Hound is a Super Mutant with a pipe rifle. If he shoots into melee, hits, and the random target is the Sole Survivor, does the Sole Survivor get +1 armour as the Hound is blocking LoC.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I am also a little bit confused by the Presence skill, which is listed next to the SPECIAL stats as if you will test on one of them in order to use it (unlike Awareness, which is in the lower left corner of the unit cards) but unlike Battle Cry (the other skill listed next to the SPECIAL stats) there is no generic ability that everybody with the Presence skill can perform.
Instead it seems to 'only' influence the range of aura abilities that most models don't actually have.
Siygess, those are good questions regarding shooting into melee. I’d suggest posting this on BoardGameGeek for F:WW as the game designer has answered a few other questions there. For the Presence skill, I think that is also the distance that a unit can share our items. So if one unit had a Stimpak and presence of orange, they could distribute that to any friendly within orange and LoS. May not be the only use of Presence but it is something.
@ JohnWebb
Are we likely to see a generic dog set at some point? I'd love to able to add a small pack to my Survivor group as a screen force for Battle mode but would rather not have to use multiple Dogmeats.

I imagine once we hit generic raiders we'll start seeing more normal dog's come in.
I just watched the Lets Play episode with Fallout, and it looks pretty fun, but boy does this game have a really high cardboard density! Especially the tons of tokens that look like they need to be constantly manipulated.
At the very least the resin expansions look impressive.
For battle the tokens dont get bothersome, there is just a couple that will be used Objectives, crits, and Ready status tokens are the ones I can think off hand. For solo or campaign for the AI is when it gets interesting.

Pg17 “Models on the shooter’s one side do not give cover...”. In your example then the super mutant would just have the +2 to hit the melee. If the Survivor was randomly selected there is no additional effect.

This was a typo. The grenades should be equipped by Sole Survivor. (If the Settlers had them, the only way to use them was for Sole Survivor could have used them via 'Sharing' so that was possible but not intentional.)
Both the store I ordered with (The Outpost) and my FLGS in Lincoln are still waiting for the preorders, therefore I am still waiting for my stuff.
Has anyone heard about how the orders out to shops are going? I have noticed some stores have had a decent stock available for order for days now (wayland for one)
This week we've taken delivery of a huge amount of the outstanding resin expansions for those tricky sets - the Rad Roaches, Feral Ghouls, Assaultrons, Protectrons & Eyebot, Sentry Bots, Robot Core Boxes, Heavy Consoles, Vault Tec Supplies and Turrets.
We're still due to get Rad Scorpions, Deathclaws, more Robots Core boxes, Creature Core Sets, Nuka Cola Machines, Radioactive Containers, and Terminals in the next couple of days. Finally the outstanding sets, the main Wasteland Starter Scenic Sets start arriving on Friday but in staggered deliveries. The problematic model has been the car, wonderful as it is, the factory currently have two hundred, yes 200 moulds running producing the car and it's taken a long time to get those moulds produced and running correctly. As a mould only lasts for about 50 uses that's a lot of new moulds that need making just for the model alone. We're already looking at alternative ways of making larger items for future waves so the factory can focus on producing the main faction sets in volume and reduce delays.
This week we aim to get as many of the outstanding orders out from the March 1st cutoff that were waiting on the assorted sets that arrived this week. That includes those with resin starter sets. There is new stock arriving every 2-3 days across the whole range so there will be rolling waves of shipments and we hope to get to the orders placed since March 1st very soon.
We're emailing those with Vault Tec Complete Bundles separately so if you're waiting on that look out for a separate email for a specific update for you.
Support has been swamped with emails asking about order status, so please be patient as we work our way through them - typically it can take 48 hours to reply.
If you supported the pre-order through your retailer here's an update:
EUROPE: All priority European distributor pre-orders have shipped or are shipping tomorrow. We expect retailers to be receiving stock through next week for pre-orders. We'll be working on getting those distributors orders prepped who didn't make the cut-off as soon as all priority orders have shipped. Non-priority orders will then be fulfilled in date order as quickly as supplies allow.
NORTH AMERICA: Impressions our US warehouse says they expect retailers to receive product on or around the 18th September (it is dependant on the distributor).
REST OF THE WORLD. Further afield, places like Australia are being processed and it will depend on the individual distributor's shipping preference how soon their arrive. We'll update this as we know shipments go.
Again please remember some distributors did not get their orders in before the cut-off date and so we're having to prioritise those that did first. This maybe reflected in the estimated arrival dates given by your store but we will be doing our best to get those stocks out as quickly as we can.

Yeah, today I ordered a couple of BoSholes from Wayland to convert. I wonder whether they'll be here before or after my main order from Modiphius.
Stores have the same problems as direct orders from what I gather: If they ordered before the cut-off date, they get their stock minus what isn't there (robots and cars), and because Modiphius is determined to fulfill priority orders first before supplying regular stock, stores that ordered later suffer delays on everything because priority orders cannot be fully fulfilled. That's my understanding anyway. Might be off, though. I'm losing track a bit of what's going on. There should be another update today that may shed more light on the situation.
I'm getting super confused by all the back-and-forth on shipping, and how hard it is to differentiate between "retail stock" and "retail pre-orders" in all this mess. And now Miniature Market is showing out-of-stock on their pre-orders!
I wasn't financially able to pre-order, but the first paychecks from a new job are rolling in and things are good again. But my question is, "When will someone who didn't pre-order be able to get this game already?"
Chris Birch posted an update yesterday that may answer your question (quoted below).
The thing that apparently caused the biggest confusion is that Modiphius uses an outside warehouse to handle their stock and shipping, and because of this wasn't familiar exactly how they would handle their pre-orders. The order was jumbled and not the way Modiphius intended.
To my knowledge there is no regular retail stock out there. If a store has product, it's because they pre-order from Modiphius directly or through a distributor. Obviously stores could place pre-orders with projected numbers, not what they actually had from people placing pre-orders with them. Which allows some stores to have stock on the shelves now.
When you will get something depends on where you are. British stores had stock a week or two ago. My go to German stores got theirs this week, one on Monday and the other yesterday. I'm not following the US side specifically, so this may not be entirely accurate, but I think the US date for pre-order stock to go on retail is September 18. As this is handled through one or more distributors and there was a delay at customs, I'm not sure how fixed that date is.
PRIORITY SHIPPING UPDATE. hi there I'll be sending this out on email tomorrow, it's been a long and frustrating day so bear with me - I'm still in the office resolving this at 9.30pm.
In short
-The warehouse weren't able to ship 100-150 orders per day as they informed us, the complexity of the big bundles reduced this to 50. As a result our estimate of completing the priority orders by middle of the week was incorrect. **This isn't there fault** they were shipping this many previously but the big bundles proved a lot more complicated and with the problems with their outage (below) this didn't get communicated to us due to the massive problems this caused them. They were back up and running on Thursday but had a huge backlog for all their customers. They're hoping to free up some extra people next week from other clients shipments to assist us getting the priority orders completed, and we've suggested bringing a team down to mass pick enough orders to speed that up. It's an extremely busy warehouse and with their health & safety regulations this may not be possible but we're looking at all options.
- The warehouse's software (disconnect on their primary dataserver for those who want to know) went down on wednesday causing a big backlog with ours and other clients shipments.
- With so many people saying they ordered day 1 (when we had a huge surge) we investigated on thursday to check if anything odd was happening. We learned more details on how the warehouse software is working which we hadn't known till now. If orders were coming through a webstore with live stock as they do normally for us, it would deal with them in date order but the Fallout pre-orders were downloaded in bulk date groups to avoid causing a blockage in the system and ensure priority were dealt with first. When we gave them the data for October-March we have found it didn't deal with everything in order date, it grabbed blocks of orders by type of courier. This makes sense for the warehouse as you're doing a whole batch of one courier, then a whole batch of post office but not in this particular case where date order was important for us. It's meant a lot of people who ordered early were for some reason sitting in the system till late.
**We've taken action to rectify this** - we're finding the orders in the system that still haven't been shipped that were made in the first day, and first week and pushing them to the front of the queue next week. This is complicated - it's not a simple check box or button and has to be done carefully to avoid causing problems with the data. We sorted out 28 of those from day 1 which were picked today but won't actually ship till monday. If you're still waiting from the first week we will get to you and get your orders out first next week.
Currently the warehouse were down to 198 Vault Tec bundles remaining. This means 573 Vault Tec bundles have shipped, let alone the rest of the massive numbers of pre-orders. There are only 17 Vault Dweller bundles remaining to ship and the rest are smaller starter bundles or just orders with a couple of items. As mentioned above we're looking at options to get these out as fast as humanly possible next week and I'll update you about that end of play Monday.
- As soon as we clear the last of the priority orders the secondary orders (made after March 1st) will be added to the system - we'll burn through these as quickly as possibly (and will also use whatever options we can to help push them through fast as well - we know you've been waiting a long time too) but i'll give you an update on that as soon as the priority clears the system.
- Finally something fun, I have added a batch of 5 free PDF missions which are included in the retail boxes, we decided to release these earlier for you rather than hold them back. There's another batch to come. You can grab them here https://www.modiphius.com/fallout-downloads.html
You'll also find the Settlement sheet there too in both normal pdf and form fillable versions.
Please note all new orders for bundles or the Two Player Starter set now don't ship until early December once the new stock arrives from China, and we've taken the decision NOT to sell the game at either Tabletop Gaming Live or Essen Spiele until we know every pre-order has shipped.
For those orders placed after the close of the pre-order through to 10th September that are over £120 we're still going to include a Nuka Cola girl since they will also have to wait longer for shipments and it seemed only fair.
We had a big meeting today to make sure we don't repeat this - the good thing that's come out of this is with the massive retail demand means we can begin exploring hard plastics for some of the later sets in 2019 such as the Institute which would speed up production of core sets, and focus on the key resin production . It's a LONG process so watch this space, we will still be producing expansion/character sets in resin.
Sorry for the long painful post and I know those waiting are bored of hearing about delays - seriously I am having to give them, but I hope the above makes it clear where we are and we're taking action to get those orders out and get a better solution for the long term. As ever I'll be here to answer questions - heading home now though so answers might be tomorrow.
The store I ordered from in January doesn't have their pre orders yet. So i wouldn't count anytime soon. Actually I am not sure anyone in the US except maybe those that ordered direct from the company and paid the rediculous shipping cost, maybe they got their stuff, I can't answer that. It doesn't sound like any of the main online US based retailers have seen it. Makes it hard to get excited about the next releases when everytime I call my US retailer he says he has no idea when they will get their preorder stuff. Even though they took my money in January. I don't think I can get behind another indecisive guess style release and be wrong by a landslide again. Reminds me of Raging Heros Kick starters all over again, except atleast with kickstarter you expect huge delays but you get the value that atleast helps to justify the pain a bit (though raging heroes almost took me out of ever backing kickstarters again).
Shame on you Modiphius, please get yourself together before you do another preorder and have a legitimate release date, you are almost as bad as a weather man in predicting next weeks weather. Being off by a few weeks is acceptable, being off by numerous months not acceptable. Even now the answer to when there will be retail sets is anyone's guess as there seems to be no answer. So please don't do another preorder until you get your house in order.
My excitement for the game has dropped substantially from when it was first announced, and seeing the gorgeous models popping up on Facebook and knowing they are still unavailable at retail is sapping my remaining enthusiasm.
Still, the models are what I want, and when they eventually hit store shelves I'll buy them. I wouldn't dream of pre-ordering with Modipius unless 1) they offered a substantial financial savings to offset potential delays (which they won't do since it would ruin retail pre-orders) or 2) Wave 2's execution is a flawless display of logistical prowess. They need to earn those interest-free loans and from my perspective that trust hasn't been established yet.
Modiphius’s own webstore lists the starter set as a pre-order shipping early December.
I pre-ordered a large portion of the line through Miniature Market but canceled when it became apparent Modiphius wasn’t going to ship before the end of summer. Now MM shows the entire line as OOS, which is just code for them no longer taking pre-orders. I don’t blame them.
I feel bad for Modiphius. This has been a gak show. I’m not sure the game is any good but the minis look pretty great. The lead-up has been shaky all along and now the launch is completely off the rails. Still, the brand is strong enough that when stuff is available, I hope it does well.
Modiphius have said that future waves will be smaller and more manageable on the production side of things (Wave 2 is apparently already going into manufacture now). They do seem to be somewhat victims of their own success in terms of the logistics involved and compounded by having to press external companies and coordinate a lot of moving parts they don't have direct control over.
Long term it's good news; exploring the hard plastic option is potentially a huge plus point and shows that there must be commercial viability for what they want to do. The sheer amount of sculpts already done in advance (about 3-4 More waves already) is a positive sign. Hopefully they can be successful enough that New Vegas is put on the table; that alone would probably be a significant factor in keeping the game going considering how popular it is.
I put in an order last night with Neal at thewarstore.com because the starter box, dice, and settlement deck were listed as in regular stock.
They're not. My check order status shows 0 in stock, all on backorder. Now I think I'll cancel the order and just wait until I see the damn box in a store.
I really don't like having to work this hard to give people my money.
Dakka Flakka Flame wrote: So is Wave 2 up for pre-order then? Sorry, I have had a hard time keeping track of things.
Nowhere near yet I believe. Probably not till the new year. They need to clear their current orders for Wave 1, restock the Starter sets and then work on the stock for Wave 2. Think they're going into production with the Raiders etc. now but I'd have thought they'd want to build up a healthy stock before taking orders considering how things have gone so far.
Wave 2 onwards should (fingers crossed) be a much quicker turnaround. Smaller waves but faster delivery.
I see renders of future models in emails, but I always lose track of what's supposed to be released and when. I'm happy that they look to be making more scatter terrain.

I think they were so far off, I doubt they would want to release a time when preorders for other models are going to be out, considering they can't get the preorders out now. I would think they would wait atleast until the basic game gets into retail but given how things have gone so far they will probably put up the preorder soon for the next batch.

They said they aren't going to put up wave 2 pre-orders until wave 1 pre-orders are fulfilled.
Wave 2 won't get a release until everyone has wave 1, and we'll be building up stock in advance. I know at this stage we won't do a pre-order as producing everything for a release wave is too much for the factory so we'll go straight to retail with releases month by month, and bundles on our store for those who don't mind waiting. This is better for stores as it gives them fixed releases each month and people shopping with us don't need to order a massive bulk at the same time if they want everything. We're aiming to get the robots and creatures in to retail in the next wave too as many people haven't been able to get those. Here's how we're currently planning official retail releases (remember stores have had stocks of 'pre-orders' we didn't plan to release everything month one)
October - US stores get expansions and character sets pre-order early in Oct
November - Character Sets & Expansions re-stocks
December - Restock of Core sets and Two player sets
The Mysterious stranger will be a bonus for pre-ordering bundles on the Modiphius store, along with the Zetan. As we're not doing a pre-order in retail either for wave 2 we'll likely make Nuka Girl a retail product of some kind or part of a bigger box (which reflects having to do meet some kind of pre-order threshold in store).
Our goal is to make Wave 2 go MUCH more smoothly, manage production of wave 1 (as we don't think people will stop buying the original sets) and ensure we can deliver sufficient stock of wave 2. Meanwhile the dev team are getting moving on Wave 3.
We've got sculpts for about 4 waves ahead done so there's a huge investment in the game - jumping to a massively successful miniatures line has been a challenge and we'll keep plugging away to make it a better experience for everyone, sorry if you got caught in pre-order delays but hopefully with the surge by the warehouse staff now happening this will clear very quickly.
Still confused on the difference between retail sales stock and customer pre-orders through a retail store. Have stores been sent actual stock to put out on their shelves, or just whatever they got through the pre-order system?
To my understanding distributors were expected to get retailer stock these last few days which than would be shipped to retailers so retailers have it by the start of next month. As to when a retailer ships to us, I don't know but I assume it would be right when they get it. But I could be wrong. I am expecting my order from Minature Market about the middle of October.
I called The WarStore yesterday evening and was told that their initial order had not yet arrived, and they expected it today. If that's the case, it's a lot better than my fear - that they'd gotten their initial order and sold out, and I was stuck waiting on a December restock.
I've left my order in. We'll see if it's actually as imminent as I was assured it was.
Got mine in NZ (though I was early in the pre-orders) Everything is lovely, I sprung for the resin starter because I was worried about a quality difference between the starter content and the expansions, turns out I shouldn't have worried the PVC are excellent and won't be noticeably different to the resin version once they are painted.
the resin is nice no bubbles and just flexible enough that it didn't arrive as a slew of shattered pieces like some other resins I've ordered.
I was missing 3 minis from the brotherhood core box but customer service was excellent and responded right away (and didn't ask for a picture of the minis not being there like I have been asked for before from some other companies)
I sorta wanted the resin, too. I have Modiphius’s Star Trek figures, which are all resin, and they are pretty great in terms of minimal flashing and moldlines, plus no bubbles at all that I have yet found.
Manchu wrote: I sorta wanted the resin, too. I have Modiphius’s Star Trek figures, which are all resin, and they are pretty great in terms of minimal flashing and moldlines, plus no bubbles at all that I have yet found.
Good to know the PVC is good, too!
I'm very happy with the resin miniatures. They're superb. Modiphius is not going to make me a fan of PVC, but I think theirs may be the best PVC models I worked on yet. It's still PVC, but I don't feel like the miniature part of the starter set is wasted money as I usually do with PVC models.
Got my full pre-order this week! Stoked to dig in to the Brotherhood of Steel and more Super Mutants!
I was lucky enough to get sent a copy of the PVC starter to review and I'll add that they were some of the nicest PVC models I've painted. Very little clean up and held their detail reasonably well. Nicer certainly than most board game pieces and certainly in scale with the contemporary stuff on the market.
May as well post my Zetan while we're on topic of PVC models:
I think it's not just that the PVC Modiphius uses is fairly good for what it is, they also gave their models plenty of subtle surface structure which makes the models look finer and nicer than a lot of others I've seen.
I was quite impressed with the skin of the Deathclaw, for instance.
Can someone with the starter give me a rundown of the base sizes? It's 30mm for the humans/dogmeat; 40mm for the super mutants, mutant hounds, and power armor; and 60mm for the deathclaw, right?
I'm torn on weather I want to use the scenic bases, or order up some clear acrylic bases so the minis fit in on whatever mat/terrain I use...

Correct except for the Deathclaw, which is on a 50mm base.
Purely on a whim I ordered the 2-player box, and Settlement Deck from Miniatures Market, as that co-op settlement mode calls to my wife and I most... but what else is worth picking up?
It seems very Shadows of Brimstone, at a glance, where the base critter, loot, event, quest, decks are pretty sparse, to encourage you to buy every single release, mostly to bulk out the decks?
Also, what's this I hear about Mophidius doing pre-order bundles with a Mysterious Stranger exclusive?

All cards for the combat mode will be downloadable to print it's only specific cards related to models like the behemoth that you need the model to get the cards.
Models like the stranger will be available to buy at a later date it's a timed exclusive.
One thing i noticed that is a bit annoying is that the cards in the 2 player starter and the brotherhood starter are slightly different sizes, making them stand out when stacked together.
The settlement deck and the core box alone gives you a TON of cards to enjoy in a solo or co-op experience.. but sure, if you are interested in the game purely for the competitive aspect then there is a certain X-Wing..ness to the card chase. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to store all the cards though. A certain percentage of them will always be chosen prior to the start of the game (Quests), and some will always be included in a random deck (Explore cards, Creature / Stranger / Danger etc). But the item cards themselves are tricky, and for a given game can be a mix of specific items (Lead Pipe, Funny Hat, Rusty Revolver) and item pools (All snacks).
This makes it ill suited to say.. re-using all those mini card binders that you have left over from X-Wing because it won't be practical to be pulling out cards in bulk, but equally it won't be practical to leave them all in a shuffled deck. I reckon it's time to Pathfinder this SOB!
NewTruthNeomaxim wrote:But what about quests, perks, items? I imagine those are all the things that give Settlement mode legs?
I don't mind, per se... but it'll make me collect the game slower than I might otherwise.
We are releasing a PDF with all the cards from wave 1 from the following six decks -
Model Profiles
Faction/Model reference
Items
Perks
Leader
Heroic.
That lets you build any model from the game with any combination of kit, and gives you the ability to run each models as one set of cards (I prefer to have everyone be an individual).
You can print and play these to your heart's content.
This also means you don't need to buy outside your chose faction(s) to play tournament games.

See above. There is no X Wing ness for playing comp/pure combat games.
Now, if you are a narrative player, then yes you will need to buy the packs that theme your game. Each box has a range of cards that reflect the contents and continue to build your narrative experience.
We felt this gave the best balance of allowing us to release product and pay our bills, without locking players into purchases they would otherwise not want to make
We will likely release card packs in the future that contain a good mix of cards for each faction to allow folks who want production quality cards for their games without having to buy multiples of each box, but they are a way out yet.
We are also looking to create some curated scenarios and game play expansions that have card lists built in, so you can have a defined experience as a jumping off point, then you can mix and match your own cards to tailor your campaigns. No time frame on that quite yet.

It's cool that you are making the cards available via PDF, but please don't take the X-Wing comment as a criticism. The prospect of having some neat new cards to use in a wave of releases where I didn't really care for the models is what kept me buying ships so regularly

Hey Jon! Thanks for that, and just for the record, please know I wasn't being critical of the business-model. There's a world of difference between me saying it was somehow a bad deal, versus my intended "I'll probably buy it all, but it'll have to be over a span of time..." :-p
Everything you guys have posted sounds great. I'll have to read up on Settlement mode more, but it very well may be the Holy-Grail game i've looked for for years. I love Mordheim, Frostgrave, This is Not a Test, Warhammer Quest style progression, and if Settlement mode has a long-term mode like that, i'll feel well justified in my purchases.
Wasn't seeing it as criticism per se, more I wanted folks to know we didn't want to nickle and dime them by having to buy out of faction, unless they wanted to expand their narrative game (which is the true heart of the game to be fair).
Settlement mode currently sees you grow the settlement itself, unlocking more cards/options for your force, but don't think that's the end of the game. An exp system to grow characters is certainly on the design docket.

There is so much more to come
As someone who transitioned from video-game design, to table-top design, let me offer my $0.02 when I suggest that is absolutely the right way to proceed. As witnessed in video-games literally now across every genre, adding player investment to "their" models/team/army/whatever creates that lasting mind-share.
The longer i'm encouraged to play the same game, and feel better/stronger/upgrade gear, etc... the more likely I am to make that game a cornerstone of my hobby-time.
Every campaign/settlement addition you make, I can personally say I will be buying Day-1.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Incidentally, do the core boxes for groups like Super Mutants and Survivors come with different cards than the 2-Player Starter set? I know the two share some over-lap of models.
I was about to ask the same question about the core box cards vs the starter set but the internet at work likes to stop working every now and then. Are they the same or different?
For example, the Knight Patrol box includes the Knight Patrol Blade, who is a more combat orientated version of the standard Knight Patrol (forever Initiate to me ) model.
Most expansion boxes have one variant for any minis they contain (e.g. Settler/Scavenger, Knight Patrol/Blade and so forth). I feel like the Super Mutants are the only ones who don't get the option in wave one (though they get the Brute and the Master, and Hounds get two different profiles also) but there are some more options and sculpts coming in wave 3.
In wave 2 news, everything is now signed off by Bethesda and either 3D printed, or coming very soon. I had to reject a few prints due to flaws that, while minor, would cause detail loss in the production mould. So, that's pushed us back by a few weeks, but it will be worth it for quality.
We have renders for show on all three Raider boxes now, and there isn't a single duplicate. Hopefully Chris will release them from the vault in the next few days. I think they were worth the wait, hope you guys do to.
Wave 2 models will be in hand and off to the painters in the very near future. Production can then get cracking on getting stock ready to send out to retailers and we will do the wave 2 release in three monthly releases so we can keep on top of manufacturing and prevent delays like we have seen with wave 1.
Anyone who has had a missing part (we know there have been some PVC issues, as well as some odd resin mispacks) as well a the problem that seems to have affected a run of the dice (some blue dice have been made using the green dice mould for reasons we are currently investigating) please put a support ticket in to support@modiphius.com and we will sort you out ASAP. Note, PVC and dice are coming from China so will take a little longer, resin is UK based so we can turn that around faster.
Can you tell us any more about the next pre-order "bundle" that will include the aforementioned Mysterious Stranger? Seeing shortages makes me more inclined to pre-order any of the upcoming stuff I want.
JonWebb, can you explain the rationale for the cards in the Frontline Knights box? I find it rather odd
3x Knight Patrol models with Laser Rifles, and a Knight Patrol (Blade) card with Laser Rifle + AI card for the same.
1x Knight in T-60 armour model with Laser Rifle, and a Knight Patrol with Combat Rifle unit card + AI card for the same, neither of which has T-60 armour.
Is the use of the T-60 armour card restricted to unique characters? I don't have the BoS starter box to compare it to, only the Aspirant in the core box.

T-60 can be used on whoever you want in the full name (we use the term narrative mode in the office, but it technically is just "the game")
In a Battle Mode (tournament) game, Power armour is more limited. Knights and Paladins get access at present in the army list, but it will continue to grow and evolve as time goes on and more minis come out.
The listings on the AI cards are for when you want to run a quick AI game (just arm them with whats on the card) but you could quite easily use the points to build your own AI opponents if you fancy it.
The spread of cards itself was all done by James S, the designer, and is designed to allow you to get a good mix of cards by collecting one faction, though if you go out of faction you will of course unlock more options.
Once that PDF of cards is finally released, then you will of course have access to all the weapons and unit stats you need to mix and match to your hearts content.
Hope that helps, but if you have more specific questions, fire away .
Just a head's up, but a few sellers are selling the faction starters on Ebay with 10% off + and extra 5% off if you buy two items at once. Combined with today's PICKSOON coupon code, you're able to get stuff at a pretty excellent price.
Manchu wrote: Thanks dude, picked up a bunch of stuff.
My pleasure! I would've gone in for some pre-order stuff too if I hadn't blown $600 on assorted Middle-Earth stuff in the last month. There are definitely deals to be had if you're patient, in this hobby.
My pre-order arrived yesterday (Core game + Heroes of Sanctuary Hills + Sentry Bot + acrylic rulers and the settlement deck). I haven't gone through it in detail but it all looks good. The models look superb (especially the sentry bot), though they are a bit on the small side. They definitely trend towards realistic proportions instead of the heroic I'm used to. I am looking forward to starting work on them, and on playing a few games. The tutorial scenarios look like a lot of fun.
I picked the game up today when I accidentally came across it in a gaming store. Been a while since I touched the series (heh, nobody probably remembers that old thread that I used to keep... ).
Right, first thing, the bottle caps are minimal effort. I instantly seen what they'd done with them. They're just new caps which have had a texture applied to them. They missed a trick here, and instead could have stuck the things on a rounded bit to give them that raised look which caps holding back the Nuka Cola's gasses should have had.
The cards feel either rushed or didn't have enough resources dedicated to them in that the character portraits are just the 3D model images left unedited. If they're not going to do custom artwork for the cards (or even take the concept art/ in game images) then was a green tint to make it look like V.A.T.S too much? I dunno, corporate probably.
Compared to other games, and for the price, the mat feels cheap in that it comes in two parts. Other games like say Mythic Battles or Conan come with card boards to play on, which admittedly are 2x2, but still, for what you're getting in the box it felt like corner cutting. One sided too.
I bought the PVC set, and yeah, can see why from what I've read they're wanting to move away from it and the rest of the sets are resin. It helps for the initial production run and potentially to cut the cost down for new guys (though not by much), but the dip in quality isn't for my own tastes. Which the large models don't have much give to them the humans and weapons do. With a bit of accidental force you can tear Nora's legs off at the ankle. Similarly, some of the details like Nora's Hunting Rifle feel overlay large to me - but I can't speak for them having changed the assets from the in game models.
On Nora, yeah, I've reposed her and replaced some parts to better resemble the promotional material (the one in the inside of the game's box with Dogmeat). The shooting pose is all right, though it just doesn't feel very unique. The same goes for some of the settlers in the set. I'm not into the female one with the long hair and the trench coat, but that may be down to how her hair looks a bit off in the PVC.
Oh, and the Zetan / Nuka Girl. Hmn, a little clear plastic bubble to go over the head once you've painted them like the in game models/ concept art have would have been nice. :/
In general I get the feeling that a lot of the money went towards the licensing more than anything else (something echoed in a conversation I had with another party years ago when discussing their own attempts at securing the Fallout license for a miniatures game). And compared to similarly priced board games of this type it kind of shows. Which is indicative when you look at the pricing of the rest of the sets as well.
Still, its good for the novelty. I'll give the game a shot and see if it could be an alternative to This is Not a Test (frankly I know so little about the game that I don't even know if its comparable in the least to that style of skirmish game. I literally just came across this in a shop today). I already have dozens of Fallout figures and terrain there that its not like I'd need to go out and buy more, though the resin kits looked interesting as a treat come payday (but for the price I couldn't justify buying the whole line, nor the terrain. Especially when there's 3rd party retro-futuristic alternatives out there).
Overall I get the impression that the company's done the best they can with the constraints put on them by the license. Again, its a sheer novelty to have these at all, and I'd imagine that the company's put a lot of work into the development and marketing of these figures to make them as viable as possible, even if I'm not 100% on certain choices they've made, but can see the reality in them. If they're going so far as to make custom models like Fallout 2's Frank then hopefully we'll see similar modernisations of other older stuff from the original games, or even Fallout 3 and New Vegas (...some of Tactics' armour was cool too). That's where the strength of the IP is currently, as like I said as far as terrain goes there's both other manufacturers, and the price so far is just too high for it to be used as anything but representations for terrain in a board game, as opposed to actually filling a board with the stuff in the saturation similar to the video game environments (unless you want to spend £20 a pop to outfit a small room with a few crates, let alone a Vault).
Oh, and this is me coming away generally positive from my experience. If I'm overly critical that's because I'm a total git. Otherwise, so far I like the game's prospects, and whilst I may not be in for every single release, further rules expansions (and the included miniatures if any) are something I'd be game for.
Wyrmalla wrote: (heh, nobody probably remembers that old thread that I used to keep... ).
Incorrect! (Although not quite as breathtaking as your work on Morrowind.)
Wyrmalla wrote:Compared to other games, and for the price, the mat feels cheap in that it comes in two parts.
Yeah this was pretty crap but I have a variety of mats so shrug. The two part thing is really bad and will be frustrating for those constrained to use it.
Wyrmall wrote:frankly I know so little about the game that I don't even know if its comparable in the least to that style of skirmish game
Wasteland Warfare aims at a solo/co-op narrative experience, unlike most skirmish games. Check out Ash Barker’s vids for more info.
I'd played my previous Fallout games using the 7TV rules, so ideally something comparable is what I'd be looking for with a new rule set. Though I haven't tried This is Not a Test to see if that really carries narrative either.
For the setting it is a requirement for me. Looking at the rules so far I think they have an edge in that they're using the SPECIAL system at least. I have a game arrange for next week, so we'll have to see how that pans out.
I'm debating how far to take my own modelling project. Right now I'm still wholeheartedly into modern figures, and was just about to start a Sunless Sea project too, so we'll have to see if the game inspires me to restart my Fallout stuff or if I continue with what I have. There's been so much done with Fallout miniatures lately, especially with 3D printing that it seems like if you aren't sitting there with terrain ripped right from the game files you're behind the curve.
I got my order from TheWarStore (starter box, settlement deck, and extra dice pack) in this past weekend, and also found a Super Mutant faction core box at a local game shop!
The extra dice pack was all good, but I got the misprinted blue dice in my starter box. Gonna have to give Modiphius an email. The starter did have the Zetan, so that was nice - I have a lot of Mars Attacks martians that can do duty in the Wasteland using that AI card!
I'm still wrapping up some of the terrain projects I was working on to prepare, but I'm eager to get started on the minis. The PVC in my starter box is of good quality for PVC! I'd say around or just above Zombicide quality.
Haven't even started painting mine (but I'm not as picky as some about the PVC) and I'd like to have everything ready when they're finished getting painted.
The blue dice should have Nuka-Cola bottles, stars, and mushroom clouds on them instead of armor breaks. Basically, if your blue dice have the same faces as the green dice, you got a misprint.
I can't tell what goes in there either. The Alien has a square slot presumably as what goes in there may be undefined, based on if there's any extras. So that's what the second slot could be for as well.
I'll probably be ditching the plastic trays and replacing them with foam that won't be as liable to chip a paint job as you try and fit the models in their specific slots.
I made an insert from foam board because it became obvious to me that what you will ACTUALLY need to store in there are the tokens, rules and a bazillion cards (well, about 400 so far but I don't have everything from wave 1 yet). Just need to find the time to make up some dividers.
IIRC you have the alien in the right space, and the other one was empty to hold tokens as you say.
Wyrmalla wrote: I picked the game up today when I accidentally came across it in a gaming store. Been a while since I touched the series (heh, nobody probably remembers that old thread that I used to keep... ).
Are you kidding me? I still use that thread as inspiration for my own Fallout miniatures for This is Not a Test.
the package looks like it went through a hurricane :/
o well its just a box.
btw does anyone know if this side slot should be empty?
the alien was also loose in the deathclaw spot so i dont know if two slots should be empty or not for the tokens or if something rattled out of it.
You see those baggies? Those are supposed to be for the tokens, but everyone just gets a small token box for them. The slot is supposed to be empty... for now. You will be adding more in there as you get more sets.

All of the additional boxed sets have more stuff for the game. My guess is that it goes in there as well.
It seems to affect both the starter set and the dice pack.
According to the latest newsletter (see below), it's not a widespread problem. All dice sets I got so far are fine, for example.
INCORRECT BLUE DICE?
Firstly, we had a few reports of people with incorrect blue dice. Basically if your BLUE dice have negative numbers on the faces like '-2' then you have the incorrect set. Thankfully this has not been widespread and seems to be limited to a small extra run the factory did. You can check for certain using this page https://www.modiphius.com/error-report.html - if it looks like you have the wrong blue dice please complete the form. The Chinese factory are currently making some replacements dice for us and we expect to receive these in about 10-14 days. They'll be mailed out directly to you from our UK office.
This doesn't have to stop you enjoying the game though, James the designer made up a sheet of symbols for you to grab from https://www.modiphius.com/fallout-downloads.html - called Blue Dice Faces under the Errata. Just print them on sticky paper (or normal) and affix to the blue dice and you're good to go until your shipment arrives. Remember Vault Dweller, the Wasteland wait for no one

Retailers can order those direct through us (they are too costly to put through distribution) and we are looking at options to get some alternative robots and creatures sets into retail in the future.
@JonWebb - How backed up is Modiphius on fulfilling Resin orders from their webstore? I heard rumors on FB that stock likely wont level out until about mid-January....about how long is the wait time if I purchased the big scatter terrain set, the robots, and the wasteland creatures? I'm in California.
I'd like to try making something for the terrain competition, but need the minis to dress it up...and the competition only goes through December.

We are almost wrapped up with pre-order shipping, though it’s the kits you list that have caused the most problems.
Then we will build up stock for retail orders for the wave 1, this won’t be overnight. So, jan is honestly not a bad shout.
We are working all the angles on how to ensure production for wave 2 and beyond meets demand. As a small company, we cant mass produce stock ahead of time (and resin isn’t a mass production method) so we ordered what we thought were sensible amounts to last the year. Turns out fallout is huge and that stock was eaten up in pre-order, hence the distribution woes.
As an example, we’ve had to reorder the 2p starter and had 12000 in hand for preorders and retail.
It’s a nice problem to have, but it is a problem and we know it. Hence things changing up for wave 2, and us figuring out different production routes so no one is left waiting months for product in the future.
Honestly, Modiphius has flip-flopped on this issue from the beginning so it is hard to take this defense seriously.
When criticized for launching so many projects in short order Modiphius claims they have teams to separate the work load and that multiple licenses aren't going to muck up the works. When things go badly Modiphius leans on the small company bit. You guys need to pick one. Either you are a small company that maybe should pump the brakes a bit and focus on a few projects or stop claiming you are a small company and own the failures.
How many "small companies" have such a diverse product range as:
Fallout: Wasteland Warfare
John Carter of Mars
Infinity: The Roleplaying Game
Star Trek Adventures
Vampire: The Masquerade
Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of
Tales from the Loop
Kung-Fu Panda
Plus all the other RPGs that Modipihus has in their store? If you guys are a small company, then most gaming companies are microscopic!

Also, how was pre-ordered stock "eaten up in pre-orer"? Wasn't the point of the pre-order to determine needed stock levels both for the pre-order and for retail? Or are you saying that the resin was ordered before the pre-order numbers were obtained and Modiphius simply under-estimated the demand in general? If so, what was the point of the pre-order?

None of this makes any sense.
Yes, we are small. But, yes, we are larger than some other companies.
Our portfolio is big for sure, and Chris is a master at getting big name licences. RPGs are bigger than Wargames/Board Games in house for sure. We are also growing massively and have taken on a number of staff in the last year and a half I've been with the company.
My team (wargames) is me, two line managers, one developer and one part time/free lance designer. 4.5 guys... hardly huge.
We then share our graphic design and miniature sculpting team with the other departments, plus any freelance designers or sculptors we need.
A lot of the RPG work is done by freelancers, as is our board game work.
Admin team is again shared, and not massive.
Lloyd is our customer service stalwart, though he is assisted at times by other members of the team (especially currently as we are hit with the double whammy of Fallout mispack requests and the Chinese spammer attack that keeps filling his email box).
https://www.modiphius.com/about.html That's the bulk of us, and several of those folks are either part time/free lance, or else work out of office.
Our partner games (Tales/Symbaroum/Vampire etc) are done externally by the companies that make them, we help with logistics, manufacturing and fulfilment.
In terms of the resin. We planned for X, we made X, pre -orders came in and were Y. So, we then had to produce the difference, hence why some product has been delayed in shipping. Making the volume of resin we needed isn't an instant thing.
Hence why we are looking at other methods to ensure demand can be met.
I know its frustrating. We are frustrated too. Trust me, we don't sit around on piles of money laughing at our customers who are unable to get their hands on the games they want. Nor are we over the moon about the packing and production issues that have been occurring (blue dice, mispacked/labelled product is out of our hands, but of course reflects poorly on us). All I can say is we are trying all we can to resolve the issues as fast as possible, and we are learning and planning to avoid them in the future. If we don't, well I know as a gamer that gamers vote with their feet/wallets, but lets hope it doesn't come to that.
Yeah, I'm not upset other than I'm a consumer with demand you cant meet at the moment...I also wasn't one of your pre-order customers...though I nearly pulled the trigger and put my family of five on ramen and rice rations for 3 months to get my hands on them.
I'm a big enough fan of Fallout that despite the negativity Modiphius is receiving for this rollout and the growing pains associated with it, I'm still eager to give you my money for some of those amazing resin casts.
I wont white knight, but if the quality and attention to detail put into your previous products and RPGs is any indicator, I'd say you haven't lost any cred from where I stand.
Just be careful, social media can be volatile and damaging when customers are dissatisfied, but it's also a great tool for boosting your reputation and brand trust as long as you do good by those folks who are having issues, and take care of them in a timely fashion. I'm sure you guys have already looked at all of the angles, but my advice would be to hire another resin casting shop or two to take up the slack on this backlog.
You've hit the big leagues with this IP, and you seem to have a decent product offering....don't go the way of Ninja Division, Dust, and Palladium...they are your cautionary tales. I'm still waiting on Super Dungeon Legends...assuming they ever get that KS complete and out the door...and I have friends who invested heavily into Robotech Tactics and were left holding a very expensive empty bag.
Do your best to go above and beyond, bend over backward to make your customers happy and most of them will pay you back in spades. Shared, great customer experiences can be as loud or louder than the guys droning on about this or that issue.
Show everyone you are here to stay and will continue to bring great, quality products to market and support this game you put your blood sweat and tears into.
I hope to be able to get my hands on those figures soon. good luck!

You aren't small, and you guys might be taking on too many projects. At least that is my take away. If you are leaning on the "we are a small company, cut us some slack" when you have multiple teams working on various projects it seems clear you've bitten off more than you can chew. I've brought this up before and received the same "we are growing massively" response, and yet, here is the small company excuse again. Sorry, but that doesn't hold water. Sure, Modiphius isn't Games Workshop in size and scope, but you are bigger than many of the gaming companies out there.

Isn't that handling a pre-order backwards? Isn't the point of a pre-order to determine how much stock to produce? If I am understanding you correctly Modiphius ordered the resin (X) first, then took people's money for pre-orders (Y), and there was a difference between X and Y. That just doesn't make sense. You've known the volume of pre-orders for the better part of a year. Resin production is slow but come on. Something just doesn't add up.

I am not having a go at you for gaks and giggles. I just want you to be honest with us and not give us spin. I am glad you guys are frustrated, and hope that spurs change.
I hope that kinks are sorted out because the models for this game are wonderful, and the rules seem fun. However, the rest is a fething nightmare and it has tanked any sort of trust I have in Modiphius to deliver product accurately and on time, and has really impacted my view of the game.
Because I'll be honest. This game went from my most anticipated product this year to something that makes me annoyed. I am annoyed seeing previews for new waves when I can't get wave 1 items easily. I am annoyed that if I can track down wave 1 stuff there may be manufacturing problems with those items, and I am annoyed that I can't generate interest among my friends because many products won't be available until January (or later). And I avoid things that annoy me. I've already set FWW on the back burner and plan on re-examining it in 2019 when the dust settles. That is a crappy arc to have a customer, going from pants-gakking-excitement to apathy in the span of a year.

Thanks Jon. Actually I am trying to work on some terrain for the terrain competition. It is hard being in the US and ordering from your site The cost of product and shipping is a bit steep. I would love to get a super behemoth though as I love all things fallout. Any chance you guys will be running a black friday special (if that is even a thing in Europe?) or any other nice sales in the future.
I gotta wait on my dice anyway as i got the defective ones so waiting for a sale won't hurt me. Hopefully there is one worth waiting for. Glad to know about the creatures though as I think they would be important in the solo gameplay mode.

Its one of the kickers about being a UK company. Great if you live in the UK/Europe (for now), not so great for ROW. Flip side, I play a lot of American based games, and we get the same issue the other way (I don't want to say what I paid on Kingdom Death...
Black Friday is something UK companies are starting to pay attention to, though I'm not in that area so can't advise on sales etc. Best bet is to speak to your LGS and see if they know about our direct order scheme. They can order things like the Behemoth direct from us, which hopefully works out a little cheaper for you.
We have some plans for the future release that should mean a more accessible game to everyone, with majority product sold via the usual distro channels. The issue with things like Behemoth is they cost us a chunk to make, and if we put them through distro, we would have to either up the price, or else we would be paying to sell them which isn't a great long term business strategy.

Unfortuneately my LGS doesn't carry Fallout or most small company stuff form outside of the USA. They offer 10% off on GW stuff that is about as far as it goes. My LGS got burned on distribution with Batman when a larger group of us started to get in on it and then distributors couldn't reliably get the product so the interest fizzled out. The biggest problem with most games it seems as Necromunda has the same issue and completely fizzled out as well. If you cant reliably build a fan base for the game and distribute new stuff to keep people interested they seem to lose interest in a few months.
Oh well just have to eventually pony up with the cash if i want the model that badly or adjust to the philosphy that I take with Forgeworld and just don't succumb to the temptation.
angel of death 007 wrote:Does anyone know if they are going to release the robots, creatures, or super mutant behemoth to retail or is it web exclusive?
I can say we're planning to get some robots and creature sets in to retail in Wave 2 though we're going through costings with the factory to make it work so won't commit until we can be sure.
Fango wrote:@JonWebb - How backed up is Modiphius on fulfilling Resin orders from their webstore? We're processing orders from our webstore since Sept 15th in the 1st week of December after which we're aiming to switch everything over to stock products so some items will become unavailable at times. We'll likely add an App that lets you add your name to a mailing list alert when it comes back in stock. Currently we're feeding the smaller expansions over to the US distributors so they have their pre-order stock this month (they had 3 of 7 this week, the rest due the week after next. Meanwhile Europe will get a big re-stock of two player starters for distribution first week of Dec, then USA in January. That was supposed to be USA in December too but the tariff war is causing major issues getting ships out of china, and into US ports.
We're aiming to get retailers re-stocks of the faction core sets in February, and the smaller expansions to everyone in February. after which things should settle down to monthly re-stocks of everything leading to wave 2. We've starting talking to several US resin producers to see if they can match the quality from our UK factory. If they can the plan is to start up US production of the faction core sets (which have to go be sea freight and therefore take the longest from the UK) followed by the smaller expansion sets and that will effectively double our capacity and speed up deliveries in to North American retail.
I know there's some outstanding orders still - Vault Tec people waiting on their scenic sets for their split shipment should start seeing them shipping in about a week's time, and there's a smattering of small orders that we're missing Behemoths and Nuka Girls etc (despite the stock being delivered a while back....) and those final orders should be shipping at the moment.
As Jon mentioned we ended up having a much bigger demand for the pre-order and we thought the factory was able to cope given the extra time with the delayed launch however some of the sets proved really problematic to mould (though we're very happy with quality across the board they've done an incredible job) and that sucked up any spare capacity and additional time. The scenic sets alone have taken lots and lots of moulds (and time) since I had this genius idea of putting two cars in each to give people better value... We've had major distributors 'forget' to order the product so their retailers couldn't get it and it just looks like we screwed up getting them product, warehouses mislaying stock deliveries and the resulting knock on problems from production through to shipping affecting all parts of the supply chain. Yeah it's not been perfect at all and I feel for those who had to wait the longest, but we have been using the experience to learn and that's going to massively improve releases going forward. That's led to the US factory research, something I wish we had started earlier but love that hindsight... We did re-order the two player set early enough for a Christmas re-stock but then got hit by the delays in China as everyone tried to beat the US tariff deadlines (which don't affect us financially yet but do affect the ability to get a container on a ship in to a US port). We've also been investigating lots of other production processes and partners that might be able to help us speed up production and simplify releases.
The mis-print of the blue dice was a challenge, but thankfully limited - a few hundred out of 12,000 initial copies so far it seems and only in the USA. The factory got us replacements late last week and they're already shipping out thanks to the whole wargame team jumping on it to ensure we could get them out quickly.
Jon's been amazing keeping you informed here, sorry I've not been around as much, but he's right in that he's a relatively small team for wargames, part of a bigger business of 35 people and plenty more freelancers (and Jon's is already growing). We've doubled in size since Fallout started, and we're growing further still so to be fair yes we're a bigger company but with smaller teams each owning different product lines with a head office of customer support, logistics, production management, department heads etc supporting everyone. We now have 5 graphic designers working flat out and are trying to hire more. That's crazy considering we only had 1 at the start (my first hire actually).
The big takeaway is no more pre-orders unless it's something really special like a Borg Cube collectors edition or something like Liberty Prime where we really have to produce to order due to the unit cost - and that's where being a big enough company comes in, whilst the wargame team is relatively small but growing, we're big enough as a business to make a decision that we'll just release Wave 2 month by month, there won't be a big 6 month pre-order in the lead up, sure we'll let you know what's coming, but month 1 will be a set number of releases and we'll aim to make enough stock for what we now know is the real expected demand. Those should hit retail and our webstore around the same time. Month 2 will be the same and so on. The goal is to ensure we have enough production capacity to continue to re-stock Wave 1, and the expected Wave 2 demands. The pain of Wave 1 has helped us make some hard decisions actually across the whole business ,which is good in the long run for everyone. We're going to be cagey about Wave 2 until we know the production is in place, the volume is building up and we can accurately predict when we'll have enough stock be able to launch with confidence, until then we knows there's thousands of people desperate for wave 1 stock and intend to make sure they get it, and in the meantime we'll keep cool new online content coming as the development bandwidth allows - for example Wandering mode is in development now, which is a free PDF telling you how to use your existing cards you have to create a fun 'random monster / random quest / mission type of game. Basically start playing solo or co-op and see what happens as you explore your wasteland.
We've got sculpts for the next 4-5 waves and start designing the Wave 3 cards soon so we're working as far ahead as possible but the goal is to close the gap between waves next year to keep things pretty much coming consistently

There was a mention of event boxes for things like the Mirelurk Queen. Maybe do something similar to mix out various models. Say something like "Robot Scrap yard" with some scrap terrain, a sentry bot, and some mole rats, Or "Wicked Shipping" with a protectron, some feral gouls, and various crates. Plus new cards, or different mixes of existing ones.
Poor Americans. Seems like everything that could go wrong did go wrong for them.

Nice, I've been wondering about that.

I for one appreciate it - they're the highlight in the fledgling Fallout terrain collection for me. Wrecked cars have such a presence on the tabletop and bring otherwise empty terrain features to life, it's a good thing to get a couple of them.
I did recently place an online order through your webstore for the Scenery Kit, and the wasteland creatures. I've had to pick through eBay to get some of the faction core boxes, the settlement card deck, and pre-ordered some of the smaller expansions with a retailer...but even some of the pre-orders were listed as sold out (like the Sanctuary Hills box).
I found a box of the robots for sale on eBay, (from Canada)...likely from a Vault-Tec pre-order that was delivered recently...no news on when it will ship or how long it will take to get here though...
I was going to wait for restock on the brotherhood of steel core box, but you are saying February now...so I may want to locate one second hand.
2-player starter PVC models and the Supermutant core are cleaned, assembled and primed. I'm hoping to have stuff painted and ready for demos very soon...
#1 request from me (if you are listening to customer feedback) is more wrecked cars (truck, van, different car models, maybe even an APC, or even subway/train car). More terrain elements in general...piles of rubble/junk containing some of the more common detritus we see regularly in Fallout, mail boxes, crushed barrels, teddy bears, toy cars, desk fans, TVs, tool boxes, packaging and cans, jerry cans, lanterns, cameras, buckets, cash registers, broken furniture, etc, etc, etc.
I saw it mentioned above and thought it was a great idea so I'll repeat it here....you should do themed location packs that have a few models, a couple pieces of scenery and some cards to complete the theme. The robot scrap yard and the shipping garage were the examples used, but some other examples could be Goodneighbor bar, a Farharbor dock, Water treatment plant pumphouse, Corvega Factory, etc. etc.
Thanks for listening, and keep up the great work. the game and minis are fantastic.

Cheers for the input.
It's still a little too early to pull back the curtain on how wave two has evolved and what's in it (and how the future of the game will roll out) but based on what you have posted, then I think you will be happy.
We are currently working on the final steps to secure speedier production both here in Europe and in the USA, and as soon as things are 100% confirmed, we will announce what's changing to meet demand.
On the customer service front, I posted an update on FB, but to reiterate here, the parts are now arriving and my guys have shipped over 400 packages out this week. We've got more to come once the final missing bits arrive, and I need to email about 200 folks to let them know their replacements are on route, but that fire is almost out. To put it into perspective though, we shipped over 12,000 core sets, and of the 5-600 support tickets a large percentage were caused by the US blue dice screw up by the factory.
I know it's been bumpy, but we are doing all we can behind the scenes to speed things up and ensure the game gets out to you folks in a proper manner in the future. As Chris has mentioned the massive pre-order/wave one launch has been tough, so we are being a bit cagey until we know ducks are in a row, but rest assured we are working daily to fix the hiccups.
Any update on when we will get the dice? I have been wanting to play the game but i don't really want a reference sheet just to play so it has deterred me from playing.

I emailed 250 folks yesterday letting them know dice are on route. I should finish up today though we have an all day meeting about the next project.
So, if you don’t hear from me by Thursday, then drop me a PM and I can look into specific tickets.
The dice are in and we have shipped 400 packages, so odds are good yours are on route unless you had other items that needed to come with them.
