It seems they only load within a certain distance from you. I've had it happen often, but then I am using the normal texture pack on base MC while I wait for Optifine to be fixed. So I figured I'd wait to see if that was the issue.
Sucks if you rely on them heavily for nether travel.
Yeah, Dark, please could you try and find out who's been screwing with my farm? I've lost more than 10 Mooshrooms, they've tried to block the door off, and there are various imperfections, as in screwing up my wheat farm in the center, plus taking out some blocks from my Cane Farm.

I've replaced the Mooshrooms and lit up the inside of that structure to prevent creepers spawning. You'd be best to put up some more defences around the outside of it though as mobs spawn all over your area and anyone just innocently walking by can attract the attention of creepers.
I've started a temple quest, with quest log, trying to find 1 of each temple, I've already generated hundreds of new chunks!
The first exampe of each temple I find will be kept in perfect condition, for the public to enjoy.
Ok, I may remove the traps first, but that's for saftey's sake.
Oh, and if a find a new village, it's mine, I need test subjects for science!
Also got an idea and managed to scrape together some resources for it.
Ender chest ATMs.
Either as the first design, which sort of needs work but trying to keep them cheap resource wise for obvious reasons.
Or the minimalist style.
So far I have four chests to put around or even trade if people want them. However I can see the use of them more in public such as Suburbia or even kicking that trade center to life. They're even useful for carrying valuable crap with how fussy portals seem to be at the moment.
Well, looted the temple, and put the lever puzzle back (although, just like an Ikea furniture pack, I've got leftover parts that I'm not sure where to put, since everything's working fine without them...).
Found a load of stacks of snow in a chest under my beanstalk... I have a feeling that someone in this thread offered them to me, but I can't remember who or when, or what trade they wanted in return! If it was you, please send me a PM, and I'll sort out something in exchange. Also, thanks.
Beanstalk -- I did lose a bit of progress in one of the server updates or rollbacks I think, and I've not done much more since. My son's just started playing on the dakkadakka server, and he's keen to build up Chasmholm, the dwarf city under the beanstalk, more, so I'm gonna keep concentrating on that for a while... but I will use the snow (and all the wool I'm getting from my triple Cave Spider spawner) to keep building the cloud island atop the beanstalk soon.
Can I get you anything in exchange? Got a couple of spare blaze rods...
I love iron. So much iron- preferably in ore form.
Actually, any Ores you might have- Coal, Iron, Gold, Lapis- I like the look of the raw ore, and all too often people don't bother Silk Touching or not-smelting the stuff. And with Zombie Pigmen, Charcoal, and Zombies, there's really no reason to not save ores- you can get everything else from mob drops and renewable sources.
OK, cool -- I will start grabbing some gold ore, at the very least (or may try silk-touching lapis -- I'm quite new to enchanting but keen to make it happen). Do you have an obviously findable place that's accessible from the Nether, where I can drop it off? Might be in a while...
I think it really depends on why they were banned to begin with whether I would have an issue with them back on the server. If they vouched for somebody and the vouched person got banned for griefing then fine, I have no issues with that.
I would possibly vouch for somebody but I'm hardly on the Dakka server anymore, having too much fun with mods to want to go back to vanilla, to mkae it worthwhile.
Matt.Kingsley wrote:Which I why I still don't get why so many people hate you. Yes you were banned, but it was only because of a bad vouch, you didn't do

They were both pretty much constantly mentioning the fact they had been banned and it was annoying for everyone.
um, constantly is a bit extreme
they didn't complain every page, maybe 1 in every 15, and I know for a fact sometimes they were accused of complaining even when they weren't.
in fact, many of you complained about them more than they complained about being banned, and then there's that instance were blood was practically raged at for mentioning not to go on a sever he had suggested you go on a few pages back.
anyway, you may call me a hipocrit for doing the following, and tell me it isn't as effective, but no more about them being banned, as they now technically aren't.
That's all in the past, so let's forget it.
And purple, I'm not just talking to you.

I wasn't that bad with it. Bloodhorror was worse, maybe you're mixing us up?
Well I've finally finished writing the book of Clucky. Just need someone to read over it and give it the ok then I'll sign it. If people want more I guess someone could copy the book and write it down.
Also messing around with villagers and one of the priests now sells those bottles filled with exp. Rather useless with that grinder, but nice for collection and such. They actually seem like a good deal at one emerald for four bottles. Which means I have one for the museum whenever someone fixes that place up.
@Ian- the Mesa should be clearly marked in the Nether, from Abso's portal. Or if you want to explore the Dwarven Halls a bit (the other ones, not yours) I've got a 'base' there, too, that has a sign.
Coolyo's given the thumbs up, so Bloodhorror, you're whitelisted again.
Remember, Coolyo's putting his own account on the line for you, so be nice, no digging death trap holes, embedding boats in obsidian, flushing away redstone circuits with water, or taking others items without their consent. This is not an exhaustive list
Lastly, because you were banned for actions that you did yourself, all your existing structures are still forfeit and it is up to any current owners whether you get them back or not.
No on the villagers, that's not a naturally spawned village, it's one you're building yourself, so you'll have to transport villagers from somewhere else yourself.
The "funky generation" is where the boundaries of 1.1 chunk generation meets the boundaries of 1.2.5 generation and then 1.3 generation. The reason you didn't see them before is because I've extended the map radius to 3000 blocks. Now you can see some places that you couldn't before, such as Wolf's battleships in the north west.

Thats one of those awsome places you can make a mountain house in!
Ive done that once, but it got griefed and filled with dirt/cobblestone/normal stone
It took me a lot of hours digging down so my floor would view watter with glowstone under it.
The floor was around 80 blocks above the sea.
Good memories.. *sigh*
Taht, and I like the shape. Surrounded on three sides by water, and gotta climb up a mountain on the other side. It looks defensible, which makes it look more epic.

@ TheNoobBomb- that's the very beginnings of a High Elf floating city, apparently. You can tell because it's right near the half-grown Wood Elf tree city, and the yet-unfinished Dwarven Citadel.

Not atm, I need to get on and check it out first, I'll post here If I saw it's OK to return to it
next question, does anybody know where the closest inhabited village to HERE is, and if so could I nab two of the villagers.
and I can't belive I never noticed the battle ship, I've been on the yaught, big unfinnished thing and the tri-maran combat ship and never noticed the biggest one, maby I am blind. but I like the new map, so much new stuff to find, like this japanese temple/castle thing in the South West corner or fetts house, which is now just visable in the south east

Yep! though I haven't worked on either elf cities in ages, mainly from not being on the server.
Also seems the others involved in the projects gave up, too.
I'd work on them, but I'm currently hunting for temples and test subjects, there is science to be done!
FM Ninja 048 wrote:does anybody know where the closest inhabited village to HERE is, and if so could I nab two of the villagers.
Looks to be here, but you could also have a look further west, there may be some in the deserts at the edge of the map. Also is that square hole in the sand a buried dungeon there in that second link? Only one way to find out...
Minecraft is a good game and my best defence 1 build house in hill 2 put lava round it about three blocks wide 3 build a bridge two blocks wide across it 4 put pistons on one side of the bridge facing the other row of blocks on the bridge and a lever to flick when mobs are on the bridge
I mean which blocks are left after the reaction. :-)
When making obsidian, the obsidian replaces the lava (ergo, cooled lava)
When making smooth stone, it replaces the water (ergo, burnt water)
When making cobble, it's flowing lava that is replaced by cobble (cooled lava again? a mix?).
n0t_u wrote:I haven't noticed it, but then I've been messing around with "minigames" with LAN multiplayer. They don't seem worth hosting a server for, but are fun and pretty quick to reset with this new feature.
This one seems to be kind of complex to build. Cannons have an ammo counter, adjustable range and reload automatically. The only issue is they will missfire if you spam them so you have to wait for it to at least fire the shot before pressing the button again. If you press the buttons on one cannon too quickly it will detonate the ammo for both and the tnt that drops out the platform if you lose.
There was one at the elf tree, but through glitches and midless killing there's only about 2 avtually in the farm...
There are tonnes wandering around it, though

When you go through portals you can lose all your xp.
However if you hop back into the portal a few times you will get the xp back.
Must be one of those "space between spaces" things...
From what I've read, it's just a display problem, you don't have to hop through the portal a few times, you just need to either grab one more XP orb or Log off and Log on for it to display the correct amount again. i.e. you were at level 29, go through a portal and it's all gone, kill a chicken, bam level 29 (Note: I do not advocate the ritual sacrifice of chickens - other sources of XP are available)
You can use the farm at my place if you wanted as well. Mix of mooshrooms and cows. I assume you're after the leather which is fine, just leave the raw steaks.
Ok, just been to my house in Suburbia and the door was open. I went inside and my diamond pick is missing.
I don't remember moving it (Although I may have) and I never leave my door open. That is what raised suspicions.
Could someone please return it.
EDIT: Just checked, a lot of iron has also gone. That was most definitley there.

If the thief is reading this, you have about 8 hours if you'd like to own up and return the items. You'll just get a warning. If it gets to the stage where I have to investigate, and the items have not been returned or an explanation given, then the thief will be banned.

HELLO EVERYONE! Me and Skyslasher are incredibly lost! We took far too many wrong turns and are now at the following corrdinates x= -9723 z= -10284 y= 114
What we found is something kinda awesome. We found a Pyramid Temple.
WE also found a very large jungle biome.
And someone please. Get me the helk out of here.
You will find me at those corridnates at the top. Its called StormWarriors Tree Fort. It has the following.... coca bean farm Melon farm Cobblestone Generator Wheat Farm Infinite water Source A Tree Farm An In progress Mob Grinder. So if you ever get lost. Try and get to the the Massive tree Fort. Its kinda of a Massive Tree I constructed all of this in like an hour. I practiced on skyblock so I will be fine for a very long time but I just want to return back to the construction of my Castle.http://www.darkinnit.com/dakkamap/#/-646/64/2737/-1/0/0 Anyway thats my update for a while.
Might slightly have Minecraft-related RSI. Gonna blame my son for ensuring I end up playing like 5 hours a day rather than the usual 3. On the upside, my Dwarven Halls -- Chasmholm, Chasm City, and Chasm Doom -- are looking pretty incredible.
Hey have you played the revenge of the gods multiplayer map as the tree is massive their if not then watch captain sparkelz and his mates mark and nick do it with him honestly that tree is huge
They are. I just played a 12w32a server. With a friend of course. Beacons are a bit messed up though, can't seem to find them...
Oh yeah... well I feel like a idiot now... Wait, let me rephrase that, too bad snapshots aren't on the dakka server. But I know why that is, bugs glorious bugs and the immense amount of updating and annoyence
As long as it doesn't reveal hidden things (like dungeons etc) that people without the map wouldn't be able to find as easily. I don't mind the waypoint feature as some people can do that in their head without needing the Mod.
In other mappy news, I've extended the map again to a radius of 3500
K, it's ETomb here, I would like to ask Sky if I'm still able to lay claim the the 3rd village he found, the one near the temple
So, am I
And thanks for trying to help me get my stuff!
Damn, I already had my testificates spawning zombies when they die to zombies on my test server, better to be built in though
If this works right i'm going to try and get npc's to randomly spawn in/fortify buildings at noon, and testificates zombies probably won't burn in sunlight so they can stalk you in some numbers during the day
I really really like the admin block, its pretty awesome, I can make a block in the spawn zone butcher mobs within the park or landing zone (since there are many now) so you dont get swamped right away

You can have Village Number Three, did you find it in the end? Also, I tried to get your stuff but I couldn't find it anywhere, so it might have despawned while I was searching. What did you have and I can get you back your stuff?
I'm already on 1.4 (12w32a)... I'm trying to make something awesome on Minecraft, but my parents made me delete Hamachi as they thought it kept spreading to all the computers in the house and messing up our connection to the router. What they forgot was that they gave me permission to install it on all the computers beforehand... Is this how everyone' parents are? And the relation to Hamachi meant I could connect to my English friend's servers... now I can't anymore :(
What do Monster Spawners do specifically. I play primarily on Peaceful mode and I've found a couple of these while digging through caverns. I'd say the name is obvious, they spawn monsters, but special types? Will there be no monsters period if I find and destroy them all? Etc...
What do Monster....spawners do? Inside the cage is a specific monster that you'll usually find in the world. They spawn them continuously, whereas typical mobs spawn randomly. Destroying them just stops the mobs spawning at a high rate from them , you'll still find mobs in areas where they can normally spawn.
If you play on Easy/Normal/Hard, they spawn monsters at at an accelerated rate in a small radius around them. Monsters will continue to appear in other areas though as normal/
Never destroy a spawner! No matter the type, you can always set up a decent XP farm for you enchanting needs! Each spawner spawns a different type of mob, natural spawners are zombie, skeleton, cave spider, blaze, spider and I think that's it. There are others that can be MC edited in to the game but they are the only ones you'll encounter in vanilla minecraft. If you are within 16 blocks the spawner activates, releasing a number of a specific type of mob every fifteen seconds or so. If you are on peaceful, the spawners don't spawn anything.

Uh...reinstall it on your own computer and just remove it from the start menu. If they don't have a clue about computers I doubt they would bother going out of their way to find such a naughty, naughty program.

It's the only way I can connect to my friends in England. It's actually a pretty neat little program too. I mean, how many other programs do you know of create VPN's protected by the same encryption method used in banks? 256 digit prime number transfer encryption ftw!
Funnily enough, not everyone will know how to do that (or what it means). Or not have the permission- If Wrym can't have Hamachi, I doubt his parents will allow him to do much else in that vein.

And to establish the other pc's in a LAN, you need..? Hamachi. As far as I know. An actual explanation would be easier than a pathetic link.
I certainly don't. Hamachi isa buggy piece of crap with compatibility problems. It was so bad on my computer that I had to go in to safe mode to remove the fething thing because of its buggy gakfest nature.
If you want someone to help you with something it's best to be polite.
I don't really think that using LMGTFY is terribly polite, and I responded in kind. It implies I don't have the intelligence to type, which clearly I do. I was really after a proper explanation, as most entries about t are laden with Jargon which I am unable to decipher, seeing as I don't know that much about the physical workings of a computer.

Hah! Sorry, but I live with a flatmate and don't even know what Hamachi is. Don't know how that was misinterpreted. =)

And your computer was? What make? What was it running on? Windows? Linux? (It's meant to hate Linux, from my experience)
It says on the website it has several compatibility issues with certain makes and/or OS'. My Acer has 64bit Windows 7 Home Premium; works absolutely fine. Used Hackintosh to change the OS to Linux temporarily. It spazzed up my computer horribly. Changed it back to Windows, worked perfectly fine.
It's a neat, small little piece of software if you plan on going on your friend's servers when you happen to have moved to another country. Like me. It doesn't take up much HDD space, and you can run it alongside nearly any other program and won't affect it's performance. Like Minecraft. Or Starcraft 2. Plus, it's one of the safest VPN programs on this planet. It is renowned for it's security. I love it. It's a shame my parents made me delete it though...
Besides windows 7. Back to the Hamachi point. You shouldn't have had any problems. You may have had a corrupt driver, or windows firewall was blocking Hamachi from performing certain protocalls. This tends to screw up Hamachi. I had to allow access to about 3 things before it started functioning correctly. Another problem; you may be missing 2 .exe files required for Hamachi to install and run correctly. These are instsrv.exe and srvany.exe. They can be found in Windows Resource Kits. And you may have to edit your registry for XP. Either that or your Hamachi may be infected...
Its your village now, do whatever you want with it. No problem. And to Shooms, I don't want payment for the village either. Take it, Dark has been telling me it is unethical to sell villages...
edit: i just finished lsitening to the whole thing and the last 15 or seconds of it have nothin at all to do with the song (i think it might be the start to another recording)
This patch fixes portals killing you and animals pushing you into walls. It does not contain new features, like the armored zombies or zombie villagers, they are for 1.4.
I've updated the Dakka Minecraft server to the 1.3.2 pre-release, but you can still connect using 1.3.1.
The official 1.3.2 release is on Thursday.
I've unblocked the portals that used to kill you in 1.3.1 because they no longer do so. However, if you go through these portals while still using the 1.3.1 client, the chunks don't load, but you no longer die (you just levitate in the chunk error). When this happens, it's best if you log off and on and then the chunks will load.
If you update to the 1.3.2 pre-release (optional - your choice) or when 1.3.2 is officially released, you no longer have any problems with the portals at all.
Those things pop up evderywhere?
Whenever I find one in multiplayer, they are ruined. Save for one. Mah town has secured it. Too bad only one villager yet lives..
n0t_u wrote:Well yeh they're not all that uncommon. It's just finding one with villagers still in it that's difficult.
If you find a naturally generated village that's been depopulated, I'll gladly repopulate it (I just won't repopulate player built villages - set up a villager railway if you want villagers at your own places )

Please do not kill villagers, cows, sheep, pigs, chickens etc in areas that belong to others or that you haven't claimed for yourself. You have to share this server with others and killing mobs which others are looking after can be considered griefing and will get you banned.
