Cutthroatcure wrote:Love the dred as it has many blades and makes me smile and as for the 1000 sons conversion, what did you end up doing with the weapons that came with the Grey Knights?
I used them, I feel like the Halberds and Staff actually fit well with the Thousand Sons egyptian theme. Grey Knights and Thousand Sons are also similar in being mostly composed of Psykers. Since Thousand Sons prize knowledge so much the books on the armour seemed fitting.
Well, these Chaos Chosen were my first conversion ever, as well as my first time messing with green stuff, and I'm pretty satisfied with them overall. Some of the greenstuff rocks they're standing on look very artificial and bland, but it was a learning process.
For everyone who has posted their work here... Damn fine work everyone. So many good ideas I doubt that there is anything I can contribute that's original... Definitely has been pushing me to work harder though...
Nitros14 wrote:I've never tried converting anything before but with the plastic Grey Knights I thought I'd try to make some Terminators for my Thousand Sons army.
That actually works pretty well. not going to lie Grey Knight = Thousand Sons. I completely agree.

Mont'ka Heavy grav tank.
just need to finish it, and paint it, and plan the next one
oh my emperor...thats a big railgun....and a lot of other scary guns, what would the stats be for the main gun? i would just give it the same stats as the turbo-laser destructor (but only 1 shot instead of 2
Main gun's probably Strength D, 10" template (or whatever that huge, non-AB template is) with basically unlimited range, as long as it has line of sight.
That Tau superheavy is epic!
Really wouldnt want to be facing off against that thing...*slinks off to hide under a large rock, praying the Tau never invade*
I will want to see it when it is finished as without paint and being finished just looks like a huge collection of guns glued onto a tank, (Which is basically how Tau do it in the first place)
maxxev wrote:One of these two is my best conversion (shame I can't paint!! lol).
Now THAT is badass. What do they count as? Obviously something Tau
Oh I don't play 40k any more TBH, I just convert stuff, however back in the day when I finished this guy, him and his kill team only ever got used in a Apoc game, so I just used them as space marine scouts, seemed fitting back then (when scouts had WS 4).
Still not thought of a name for it, I had an idea for a tech marine based army and wanted something that could represent a mobile fire base made from the good old rhino design
They are sick! where did you get the jetbikes?
love the conversion!
just by looking at the pics i can tell you he used an oop dark eldar reaver jetbike combined with a space marine attack bike. the reaver was cut in half and part of it was added to the front of the SM bike after the front wheel and forks were removed, same goes for the back end. past that i can't be sure of what else he did.
Still not thought of a name for it, I had an idea for a tech marine based army and wanted something that could represent a mobile fire base made from the good old rhino design
Awesome guys !! ... thanks ... the super raider .. is way easy ... esp if they are built first ... makes it sooo much easier to mate them so the lines are correct.
@soultang - Your kitbashing skills are great, but why does everything have jump packs? Do you have any terminators with jump packs, Typhoon launchers and twin plasma cannon lightning claws on bikes?
i only have one beef with that land raider, the rear lascannons should have been extended out, so that the ones in front arent blocking them, other than that, excellent conversions
the rear lascannons should have been extended out, so that the ones in front arent blocking them
DUDE, that LandYacht is a definate weapons fire magnet. the above statement is also my only problem with it. 2 dakka the chickenwalker dreds are interesting. 2 dakka your Hells Angels are great, very simple conversion, easily done, and looks good as well. 2 dakka and this thing, whetever it is:
it looks like an organ throne for a sisters priest, at any rate it really looks nice. clean lines, good pairing of parts and has a nice overall symmetry. i say 3 dakka the venerable dredds, and the rest of the bloods also look good, 1 dakka 10 dakka is all your gonna get outta me, since i HATE space marines.
Fallenbourne wrote:What in the name of everything holy, hell unholy also, is THAT!!
I do believe that it is, in fact, a huge super awesome mega epic motherfething giant killy robot type thing. With lots of dakka. and it's super awesome.
I really like that venerable dread...But I feel that the thighs are too vulnerable...the shins have HUGE guards, but nothing on the thighs...
the toes are genius.
what??? why would it matter your already using the claw for the models attack characteristics surely the addition of another claw would only give you +1 attacks? it seems a waste of points having a pistol in the other hand or a choppa would give the smae benifit wouldn't it?
If I'm not mistaken the below model is a large miniature of the Mech suits from The Matrix that are used to defend Zion. My question is where did you get that miniature from? because I have been looking for something like that for a long time
soultang wrote:I dont think these compare to the work all of you do but here are a couple .......
Really...? Never played the game, these were inspired by the Sha Yu battle mech crossed with a Fire Ant mech from Mech Commander 2.
Fluff wise they weigh in at 35tons, have two Clan ER heavy pluse lasers with power and fire controll management, heavy MG array, light MG arry and a single Clan LRM ( ). How they act on the battle field dependes on what weapons management program is installed, ie' it can act as a Vanquisher, Exterminator, or a Punisher.
The Mk II if I ever get round to building them will have magitized weapons pods, a reinforced see threw cockpit and i may even put an LED in it to light the Mech pilots up in combat red light
"This is it, THIS IS IT! The Clan Gusse rifle, when you possatively have to take an Atlas head clean off...I love my job..."
Thanks man, really means alot, this a conversion i did afew years ago and I am just starting to look at my models again, ill upload some more stuff soon
@ ribbonfox: those sentinal to russ conversions are pretty cool! I really like the extended back. It makes it look much cooler and more threatening. I do have a few suggestion however to make them slightly more game friendly:
In my opinion the counts as should have apoxamatly the same profile as the original. I would base them on square bases aproxamatly the size of a Russ to help make it clear they are tank equivelents.
Weapons: I love counts as, it is a great way to run with ideas that are different from the norm and still play the same game as everyone else. However, I think that you should model the weapons accordingly. Magnets are yoru friends when you want swappable weapons, and counting a twin linked las cannon as a battle cannon stretches the counts as into the realm of proxy. I would suggest that you do a few more cool conversions and magnatize them, making sure to keep them similar to the original weapon they are meant to represent. When an opponent looks at the model they should be able to tell, oh I see that that super gatling gun is supposed to represent a punisher cannon. cool. Rather than: What is that twin linked las again? I keep forggeting and I'm not used to lascannons firing a big templat.
Rule of cool wins, and you have some great looking models there!
Thanks dude, the paint job is abit iffy to say the least, i tend to lose interest on nids, they are quite boring to paint, so fun to convert though. Looks nicer in real like i have a WIP hive tyrant ill show soon also Btw im new to GW forums and the commuity has really taken me by suprise what with all the feedback and friendlyness.

If the camera was better i'd show you that there is scorched flesh around the canon. We actually took a lighter to it to make a burned effect. It's painted to show that each shot of the canon burns back a little flesh.
I posted the not painted version a few weeks ago. Now it's time for the painted version. Opinions?
yeah i remember this thing, first words that popped into my head seeing these new pics was, "wait, wasn't this thing all black, WTH?!" at any rate looks good, looks damn good, better than i can do, but it doesn't look 'sick' enough, i think it needs a bit more phlegm, and pus on it. right now it just looks like someone spread some Spam all over it and left it to mold up, but that's just me.
Wow some great conversions. and this threads been going for over twos years....very cool. got some pictures of a couple conversions that I did for a friend. Another friend will be doing the painting and so soon as I get those pictures I'll post them. The first group of pictures is my take on an Ork Skullhamma Battle Fortress and the second group is of a deff dread.

Its probably the truth. People rarely reply to what I say. I ought to friend you for acknowledging me...
Well, i've worked on it since, and i've managed to model 2 Warriors hanging onto the Sails at the side. One with a Splinter Rifle shooting, and the other with his knife out.
And, How does a Rhino Transport fit 10 Space Marines into it???

Wow, ninja'd on that one. And I thought I was making a joke...hahahaha
And, How does a Rhino Transport fit 10 Space Marines into it???
True, but don't get me wrong, I'm not busting on the model itself, Like I said it looks great. However, with a rhino there is at least an idea of where the transport compartment is, same with a Wave Serpent. There is no way that a Wave Serpent is going to transport 5 Wraithguard and a Warlock, but the idea is there. The only thing that came to mind for transport on your Venom was the guys holding onto the sail spar and laying flat on the sail.
AT any rate, it doesn't matter, it's a great looking conversion, clean lines and everything fits together nicely. Good thing it's an Anti-grav vehicle though cause if that keel blade ever dug into the ground the driver is going to find himself flying without the use of mechanical means into the first hard object that stands in the way.
Those Orks are nice looking, the one in the middle reminds me of the necro-scanners from Chronicles of Riddick. I really like the Weirdboy, it's like Dr. Octopus gone crazy instead of just slightly over the edge, and the glyph mask in front of his face is a really nice touch. That warboss on the other hand, is gonna be pissed at his mekboy when the rear tire works it's way off of the axle, other than that it looks great as well, nice use of the wrecking ball chain, I saw someone else do the same and I liked it and plan to do that as well.
edited for typos
Edit: finally got pics up of my reworked trukk, let me know what you think:
old version tractor pull trukk
revised version tractor pull trukk:
I'm in the process of building a Hay Wagon that this thing will pull around and carry the boyz in. I'm also thinking of modding up a grot with an evil(er) grin about ready to pull the pin that connects the wagon to the tractor.
Converted by me, painted by a friend.
Chopped apart the legs much more than I thought necessary to sit astride the wolf, readjusted the arm to hold the axe, made the axe out of two axes, made the banner out of some various wolfy bits, turned Logan's cloak into..I dunno, whatever you'd call a cloak that starts at your waist, and added the reins. Oh, and put a plasma pistol on his other hip.
Not a ton of conversion, but it's something.
going clockwise starting at 1:00: the tusks are from an ogre kingdoms gut plate, ogre tyrant i believe. the Ork battlewagon is a recent release so process of elimination leaves the ogre kingdoms. next up are Tau tank engines/anti grav thrusters/whatever they call them, but they are Tau. Then there's the Ork glyph, this is one that i'm iffy on as i have no idea, there's so much Ork stuff out there that i haven't seen yet. the next bitz i'd hazard a guess as being Stormboyz rokkit packs. the next one just looks like electrical wiring unless there's more to the pic that i'm not noticing. However, i most definitely recognize and Eldar Shuriken cannon when i see one, but it looks modified as the rear of the cannon is not a piece i recognize as being a part of the shuriken cannons. I have very rarely ever seen any of the old Rogue Trader stuff though, so i suppose it coulkd be one of those and i've just never saw it before now. and last but not least is a Tau burst cannon.
so tell me, how'd i do? since there are seven different areas, i expect that the best total score is 7 out of 7. It'd be nice if I got that high but i doubt it, fairly sure my score is around 5 out 7 though.

Ah, but I know for a fact that the tusks are from the Battlewagon kit.
This is my best conversion to date. I convert a lot for various Necromunda/=I=Munda projects and my Rogue Trader army. But this here techpriest is still my favourite.

Really nice model. I have been looking through this blog of yours: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/286459.page And I wish you'd revive it with more cool stuff. I don't want to necro it, so, just saying it here, nice stuff!.
Guitar string. They are called guitar strings. As a guitar player and life-long musician of all manner of strings-classed instruments (orchestral and other), this is a bit of a pet peeve. Not a big deal, no, but it's just a tad irksome. heh-heh

But is it not made of wire, and not string? Or do you string yours with string instead of wire?
Here is one I made for the Adepticon a few years ago. Lets see if you can name the parts I used...
Ah, but I know for a fact that the tusks are from the Battlewagon kit.
was there a battlewagon kit that i don't know about? the only one i know of is the plastic one that can be bought now, and if that's the only battlewagon released then based on his statement of "a few years ago", then the tusks couldn't have come from that kit. Hence my reasoning for naming them as coming from the ogre kingdoms kit, but as i said there could be be a battlewagon kit that i don't know about.
I don't know which is more horrifying, Jar Jar Binks, or Jar Jar as a priest of Nurgle. the Space wolf dude looks nice, not to sure about the braids, but that's just me. Techpriest looks great.
not my best, but my only conversion so far. A lot of terminator bitz from space wolves and chaos, some greenstuff for the hair and the shoulder for positioning the bolter arm, and some "what-colour-is-that" stuff for the crux terminatus in the shoulder

That is one sweet rune priest. I was not looking too well in the earlier stages of the build, but the final outcome is just great!!!

How come people keep posting, not my best model but my most recent or not my best but my favorite. After all this topic is about your best model, nothing else. Anyway, excellent models, my smallest brother wants me to make a buzz model for him!
Well, these are my two... The Dreadnought is a Venerable originally, and the Landraider at this point is half covered in the shell of a DVD player.
Both are for my Iron Warriors army. I will post updated pics when they are finished.
@Grass4hopper- I know I could have added more spikes to him, but I didn't want to go overkill on the spikes. As it is, there are two per arm, and six on top of the sarcophagus itself. Or was that sarcasm?

Why a TH on your rune priest though?
It's just a "runic weapon". In the codex says that the rune priest weapon often its a staff or an axe, and I think "why not hammer". Besides... it was the only bit I have in that moment... but i'm planning on doing some changes to it, so it looks more like a staff.
you need to do something with those wheels, I'm guessing they still rotate? and they have rubber tyres, not a feature in warhammer. try using different wheels, from the trukk's possibly, but I can see where you would have difficulty seeing as the wheels are som massive. BTW, you're screwed if you want to use this at your FLGW, they dont like home made stuff. I learnt that first hand.
walker90234 wrote:and they have rubber tyres, not a feature in warhammer. try using different wheels
Although I assume they're probably some high-tech 'super rubber of the 41st millennium', Space Marine bikes and Ork Warbuggies (to name but two) have rubber tyres and I've always assumed the Trukk wheels to be rubber but with metal plating attached.
Unless you mean that the model itself has rubber tyres, in which case I can't really see the problem, I've used rubber tyres in conversions before and had no problem with them. I would suggest stopping the wheels from spinning though, just for when it gets placed on less than perfectly flat terrain so it doesn't roll back down.
@ MrJakkaDakka
lol, soz about that, it is a really awesome conversion, i was just trying to give you some tips, you dont have to get all defensive, lol.
yeah, if its not gonna b used in GW then neither the tyre thing, nor the "not GW parts" matters. but DEFINITLEY glue the axels so that they dont turn, as the guy above said.
I think my best convsersion would be my warboss on bike, made from a tau pirahna (seen as the other ones just a rhino with orky bits slapped on), thought its still a WIP
This is my WIP librarian on a 'hover' bike. As you can see I intend to mount in on a biker base with a wee flying stick. The flames were green stuffed and the rider is half a ravenwing rider and half a librarian with plasma pistol. The book is gonna go on top of the bolters so the librarian wont forget any spells etc.
The Venerable Brother Kyle is a regular sight on any battlefield taken by the Greenhouse Guardians. Usually providing
cover fire from the rear, Bother Kyle has become an expert at placing autocannon shots with the skill of a sniper into
Heavy infantry and light vehicles. The brother marines know that Bother Kyle will find the weak point in the armor of
any Wraithlord, Daemon, Terminator or Tau Battlesuit. Such consistent accuracy has earned Brother Kyle a nickname
among the Guardians. They no longer call him Brother Kyle, he is simply known as “The Rifleman”.
the underline is the misatke can anyone else spot it too
Spoiler:
THERE LASCANNONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! Thats amazing, as is everything on this thread, good job everyone
I'm assuming it is a "Brass" Scorpion? It looks amazingly detailed but (and it's a small but) it coudl do with maybe a bit of shading to add definition (although that coudl be the lighting in the pic).
Also, coudl you post a couple of different angled pics so we can see it properly? Other than those small niggles i think it's great!
a rifleman dreadnaught with lascannons, interesting. great work, though i'm not keen on it's head, however without it it wouldn't be a rifleman.
that librarian bike is good stuff, nice work on the flames.
the Brass Scorpion. dude there aren't enough words to express just how good that thing looks, even if the paint job is experimental it stands out and does justice to the rest of the model. 3 dakka
that Harpy is beautiful brah. and that paint scheme is the same.

It was just my attempt at making a scorpion defiler, although with the addition of FWs "Greater Brass Scorpion" I could now use this as the lesser version. As for the paintjob, that was very early stages, current version is more complete but I will be redoing it when I resume my thousand sons army.
This is my most recent conversion, it represents a greater daemon of Slaanesh in my Emperors children army and is made from; the keeper of secerets torso and 3 of his arms, the other arm is from the plastic chaos spawn box and the bottom half is made from the trygon tail not a great deal of work needed for it but it still needs some finishing touches.

I'm not happy with the colour palette
To be honest i think the actual palette is nice and definately works for a thousand suns army. I would just look to darken it up and add some definition. A Blue wash on the plates and maybe a drybrush to pick out the edges would probably do the job nicely.
Always wanted to post in here. Here's my recently finished warboss conversion. He was originall a blood bowl ogre until I added lots of bits and some green stuff:
For anyone wondering about scale, that's a 60mm base he's on.
I did some of these are a few years ago, so you might have spotted them on other boards which shalt not be named ;D... But I thought I would share them here anyway, enjoy.
One of the ones I'm most proud of.
It was an AoBR Captain to start with. Changed torso, added a new tabard, dual LC, different backback, different helm and som wings for added effect
nicely done, paintjob really stands out, but i'm curious. The only thing you didn't change from the original build was the legs, so what was the point, you could have built this guy without using the AOBR stuff right? I don't know marines, so maybe you couldn't have.
I have to ask: Which specific colors did you use for the flesh? It looks great.
And fantastic job on the conversion by the way - I really like it
Its actually ridiculously simple All i did, and all i do with a ll my nids, was spray the model black, then dust it with white leaving the recesses and general shaded areas black then leviathen purple washed the entire model. After that its a simple case of usind khemri brown then dhneb stone on the scales and blues on the gribly bits
My Parasite of Mortrex, made from a couple old Gargoyles, some spare Genestealer and Tyranid Warrior bits, and the mandibles from an ancient Hive Tyrant model.
Not the best pictures, and I still need to find something to use for a piece of ferrous metal to put between the magnets so he's leaning back just a little.
Added a few spines along the top of his tail, too, just can't see them in these pictures. Can't see the spiky extended carapace bits along his back very well either, but I think you get the idea.
yea, i do know. i just wanted to have a formation similar to the one that is taked about in the tyranid codex. when they IG bring out some baneblades and they get owned by a "brood" of tyranofexs. its more fore the fluff that i want 3
My Battle Senitnels (AKA Battle Angels) all most finished, painting is all but done , the bases still need abit of work but you can get the idea.
The ident markings were made using a ruler, Paintshop and a printer. Sod trying to paint them by hand
Been working on this one for a while. haven't done a great deal other than swap the weapons round and altered the posture slightly but i think it makes for a more dynamic looking figure.
Voleman wrote:My obliterator.
I still need to swap out the base though.
Nice Obliterator. Looks like it's for use in a Nurgle dedicated army. If that's the case, then maybe add some pustules to it.
Also, the close combat arm looks like it needs more around the top. Right now it's kind of empty with a large bulge of GS around the elbow and nothing around the shoulder.
Other than that it looks really good, and I for one would like to see it when it's done.
wow, I really like that tank, and I love the demoness and the Tryanofex. I'm kinda "meh" on the rest, but the dred just doesn't work for me at all. However, that's not to say that if doesn't have some good scuplting and painting because it does have that.
Here is my Looted Dread Knight that I am working on. I have put a lot more paint on him since this photo. I will post another pic as soon as I am finished with the checkers.
Praxiss wrote:holy crap!! Thats is a big chain sword.

Why do i get the idea that the Looted Knight is about to punt that imperial guard into next year? Nice work man, looks really good.
that Baneblade tank also looks really sweet, very nice touch on the interior detail. shame you don't play, it would be great to see that kind of paintjob on your own mini's.

But, on an unrelated note, I have a really simple one i made a long time ago.
I was like... 10 when I made it.
It probably looks like now, because I was, like, ya know, ten when I made it. But I still like it none the less.
It was an Ork that I put a metal Jaw on. You know, the sort of Mekbomination works. And then I hacked up two rifles for 'im, making them into some sort of smokestack backpack thing, and gave him two swords for bayonets, It looked pretty cool.
Another one, extremely minor though, was I took some Catachan guys, and cut the mags off of... something, don't know what, and glued it on the side so it was some sort of... Space-Sten or someting... a SPTACEN!
@quorbane - NICE!!!! any chance you can get us a pictuure of him withou the landraider behind? it kinda looks as if he's part of it,
@sugar-woof - I like you landraider, very orky, me and my friend are doing something similar, but why you feel the need to post your pictures within spoiler boxes I will never know. lol

Thank you, actually I put them in spoiler boxes to somewhat try and keep the page from being bogged down with a ton a of pics. It doesn't help much cause not a whole lot of people do it but it's just something I picked up from the art mod threads for magic the gathering forums and it worked.

good idea, maybe if more people start doing it then others will follow, i for one will start doing it for sure.
@Qorbane - i keep trying to identify stuff you used for the mono-wheel and keep coming up blank, i know there's a marine bike in there, and green stuff, but the wheel itself escapes me. Looks good anyways, i hope this thing belongs to a sergeant or some other higher up.
Svog 227th Skeleton Guard: Rough Riders
Just need to spray and paint them, thinking for the dinos a serpentine colored skin and Catachan green scales
(More pics in my sig)
So would you if you were giving birth to a whole squad
@ WIB - LOL, thanks man, i needed that. had a rough night at work.
@ Funky Rat Demon - I LIKE it! back in the day, i used to have an entire AD&D skeleton army, that included mounted units.
@ Q0rbin - I like the looks of the necro's especially the first one. He reminds me of the little alien dude in the beginning of the Heavy Metal movie. nice paint job on the Catachan, BUT, I hate to say this cause i hate marines, that Chaos Lord is REALLY NICE. Excellent job on the green stuff.
haha well do you have any? you wont know what you can do untill you try XD haha its all about having a creative mind thats all...and experimenting with bits

and having enough muscle control to not stab yourself in the thumb 20 times...
Basic but effective i think. Love the look of that Halberd/uber sword. Dark Angel mace arm?
Bingo! ^_^ (i think i have a dosen or so of them XD)
i just chopped off the mace part, and then cut the GK. Termi halbred at the bottom of the little notch thing just above where the hand would be holding it, and then cut the bottom of the staff just below the left hand of the bit.

Disjointed Entity wrote:I'm guessing a DA one, due to the iconography on the base.
Feel free to correct me though!
yes its from the Ravenwing battle force, you get a bunch of exra bits and stuff that arent just for the ravenwing. the bit on the base if i can remember was from the battleforce or the vet box, same with the head .
I've posted this in my plog before but I think it's worth reposting here. This is my all plastic Librarian, based on the GK kit (with the company champion torso front thrown in), it's really more of a simple kit bash but I think the end result is pretty decent.
My comp is down so all i can do is post a link to my favorite/best....this is my salamanders captain with the crux terminatus on a saurus shield as a storm shield, a power sword with extended handle from saurus spear as a relic blade, removed the imperial eagle heads from backpack and replaced with saurus heads...its a simple conversion but it doesnt get more salamander then that http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/149353-.html?m=2

Nice conversion, the saurus bitz look great especially the backpack.
Currently the only custom I have with me, I always thought the old eldar dreadnoughts were too static looking and this was my first attempt to change that. Re-painting it now with altansar colors.

He totally needs a text bubble saying "You da man!", as that is obviously the gesture he's making.
