thanks,im glad you like it! it is fantasy, a skaven model, usin it to count as a HPA but its not already an established model, i should have explained a bit more. the back wheels are from the doomwheel kit, the main body (you can see it better in the gallery) and smaller wheels which make up the arms, and the neck, are from the warp lightning canon, the leg struts are dowel rod, the ankles are exhausts from killa kans, the crew are from various kits (all removable, woot, 6 crew, and a HPA has 6 wounds!) and the head is made entirley out of platicard. i still think it need a tail but im not sure how to do that. oh, and tomarkillus, nice inquisitor!!!

Well honestly, that was a kindof afterthought. I had to do something because the shoulderpad was getting in the way of the powerpack. And the power fist was the whole inspiration for the conversion (it's supposed to look like he's about to hit someone with it as he rides by.) I don't like how it's a bit uneven, and how the longer cable (left one in the photo) had to be lengthened a bit obviously.

Here's my best converted figure. Nothing too fancy and my painting skills didn't do it any favors either. Just a Yarrick that when I recieved it was missing, part of both arms and his sword.
The head is from a Warzone plastic Imperial Sgt. The fist is a lefty SM powerfist with the thumb reversed (with a bit of GS) to make a righty. The left arm is just an IG arm with a fancy Plasma pistol from somewhere. A bit of GS to hide the various joins and the divot for the Sword that is gone and done!

As everyone is well aware, GW minis are beyond expensive... and me being a frugal Chaos Warband Lord I set out to convert(scratchbuild really) a few of the more expensive kits. I'm not the best of course, and I am in serious need of some GS... but nevertheless here they are.

For the bronze areas of my trueborn:
First mix equal parts tin bitz and dwarf bronze. Darken that up a lot with scorched brown. This is the basecoat.
Then, layer on a mix of equal parts tin bitz and dwarf bronze.
Next I used brown in on the recesses.
To highlight, add mithril silver to your tin bitz and dwarf bronze mix. Done!
Thanks for the comments guys. I have a DE blog on Dakka - check it out. The link is in my sig.

Mothra's pretty cool... for a "good guy". I've chatted with her a bit on set. Pretty down to earth, considering she flies and all.
As for this model, the work done is very good. The painting is pretty good, too. Unfortunately, I'm not buying the combination Tyranid + butterfly wings. I can imagine that Tyrant being picked on all the time at the playgrounds. All his peers are zooming around on their sleek, fast membrane wings and here comes little Fluttermuffin, flitting all over the place without a care in the world... Butterfly wings invoke random flight, casual pattern images, not fast, warlike ones.

Except butterflies are some of the strongest and highest fliers in the world. I'd like to see Mr. Dragonfly-wings over there fly from the North Pole to the South Pole through the stratosphere.
I'm thinking this might not be finished. It'd look amazingly better with that black, orange and white theme continued through the rest of the model.

Post by: Ghidorah
TOTALLY off topic... sorry.
Anvildude wrote:Except butterflies are some of the strongest and highest fliers in the world.
I'm guessing that you're referring to the insect world only? I'm sorry, but a butterfly is neither stronger nor higher of a flier than a bird. Butterflies have been known to fly upwards of a skyscraper, but that is not necessarily testament to their flying prowess. More likely that they just get caught on updrafts and what have you.
Anvildude wrote:...fly from the North Pole to the South Pole through the stratosphere.
I'm guessing that this was more of an embellishment than a statement? Our stratosphere is about 6 or 8 miles above the earth's surface. No way a butterfly could make it. Plus, butterflies are cold-blooded creatures. They die from the cold long before they got there.

Papo makes some decent dinosaurs toys. All I did was give it a snout horn to make it a megasaur. I liked the color scheme of the toy, so when I gave it a similar paint job once I primered it. I'm going to get around to adding some more eldar decor to flesh it out some more as a model.

Some of my recent conversions.
It started when the Manticore kitt came out. I loved the new cabine desighn and decided to build myself a Griffon form this kitt.
A small conversion, Basicaly adding a cut down Earthshaker and some smaller bitt. Here the painted state
This left me with and dismantled old Basilisk that I decided to turn into a Salamander scout
and the first blocking done.
Then the real fun started.
Having used the Maticore chasis I was left with an rocket launch system and it wasn't for long that my inner Mek took over and I ended up with an Kustom Grotbomb launcher.
The Rokkit
The Launcha made from an old scavanged trukk. Expanded the engine and voila
And the painted machine
