Ok, after browsing News&Rumours section I`ve decided it may be cool to change the format of posting MaxMini news. From now on I`ll include all of them in a single topic , just changing the title with a note about latest update. This seems more "proper" -shouldn`t spam this section of Dakka .
Even though it`s Sunday we`ve decided to pay our workshop a short visit . Thus I was able to demold this new piece by Marcin Szmyt - a gatling gun platform:
In your other thread you mentioned the terminator pads with tassels now...yet the link doesn't display any pictures and I can't seem to find them on the online store. Any pics of the pads with tassels? Thanks!
The gatling platform is great. The bare tyres aren't really a problem... If they're just there to allow the crew to tote the weapon around, they don't really need tread. That would be more necessary on larger, towed weapons.
See I was thinking about it in another way, well a) if it is detailed its easer to paint and make it look better for me. b) I was thinking in practical terms that it would slide around making aiming and transport harder. I have not found many pictures of them but I want to say they have something similar to motorcycle tires.
Agreed with comments about the carriage. I definitely have use for a lot of gatling/miniguns, but I would be tickled pink if it had options for an 'autocannon', a 'light cannon' (missile launcher) and a 'heavy cannon' (lascannon).
I`ve added Wunderrocket to the webstore. If all goes well tomorrow you should expect plaguebeast and bioswords as well .
I`m waiting for a couple of packages from the sculptors. Damn, can`t wait to get them - especially for the ones from new sculptors .
Since Przemas is now keeping the stuff for MaxMini.eu in one, main thread, I just wanted to chip in a bit of opinion / review here. I really hope Przemas doesn't mind the very small hijack.
Back in February, I had a bit of correspondence with Przemas. He asked if I'd be interested in previewing some of their upcoming releases, and since I'd been really happy with the stuff I've bought from them in the past, my response was an enthusiastic yes.
Fast forward to today, and a package arrives in the mail all the way from the moon, er, Poland. Needless to say, I was more than a little excited to tear into this thing and see what's inside, and hopefully the MaxMini guys don't mind if I share the contents with all of you. I'm about to sound like a gigantic shill, I'm well aware of it, but they didn't ask me to write any of this and I do very genuinely love the work these guys do.
First and foremost, I received one of the prototypes of their 'Wunderrocket'. I first saw their previews for this model a couple weeks ago, and I was more than excited about it, since it looks to be a fantastic proxy for a Pulsa Rokkit for Apocalypse.
The main thing that always staggers me about MaxMini stuff is how much cleaner their casting work is compared to other companies. Last year, I ordered a bunch of their Ork Nob-sized pirate heads and Post-Apocalptic Big Guns to use in Flash Git conversions, and I was startled to discover that there was basically no mold lines, flashing, or cleanup required on the stuff I received. The same can be very easily said for the stuff I received from them today - while not completely perfect, their stuff is giant pogo-stick leaps and bounds better than stuff like Armorcast. Even a company like Forgeworld, which survives with ludicrous detail for ludicrous prices, produces and sells a lot of pieces that require considerable effort to repair into the product advertised in my experience.
To that end, all of the photographs of the stuff I received depict product that has not been cleaned up at all - I basically just removed these parts from the box and grabbed my camera.
So, let's return to the Wunderrocket. Przemek, the MaxMini.eu representative that sent me this stuff, advised me that the rocket I've received "has been cast in a sample mold, so the main 'body' of the rocket has been cast slightly differently than the one from the production mold". If you notice any significant differences in details between what I'm photographing here and what MaxMini.eu currently has up, I think it's probably attributable to that - because shipping from Poland takes as long as it does, they sent me one of their preproduction kits to play with.
You can see the parts breakdown of what I got here. The parts are keyed to fit together in a very simple manner - it's hard to get it wrong. There's two top covers that plug into the main, cylindrical body of the rocket; one resembles a large antenna rig, which presumably would suggest a remote control for the rocket, and the other is a cockpit-esque hatch that would conceal a pilot. The ramp is cast as one solid piece, which is actually fairly technically impressive from a mold-making standpoint. You can already tell from this picture that the quality of these casts is pretty damn high - there's nothing flashed, broken, mangled, bent, or bubbled. In fact, the kit fits together without any glue:
This is dry-fit together with zero glue, and really looks just great. My Big Mek is in the picture for scale purposes, and to admire the construction. You'll notice that the one thing that appears absent is a turbine to plug into the front of the engine on the tail, but I expect that's absent just because they hadn't had the time to get the molds together for that part yet. It's certainly not a big deal for me, since I can manufacture my own fairly easily, and I've no doubt that it's remedied on the actual kit itself. That said, though, this thing fits together seamlessly, and there's hardly any flaws anywhere - the only thing I've noticed is a very tiny miscast on the second picture above, in the thin 'casing' that goes around the gauges and dials on the side of the rocket, but I imagine that's simply due to how thin the part is and it's not a hard thing to fix. Certainly nothing like having to drop your Forgeworld model in boiling water to straighten it out!
MaxMini's current pricing on the Wunderrocket puts it at around $50 USD, which means for Ork players it's something like the cost of a Battlewagon or Deff Dread. Obviously, cheaper would be lovely... but speaking from experience playing Apocalypse, I would almost always rather spend the $50 on one of these Rockets instead of a Dread. Pulsa Rokkits can be ridiculously useful in a large game.
The Wunderrocket wasn't all I received from the MaxMini guys, however. They also pitched in a "Confession Machine", an interesting terrain item that looks right at home in the 41st millenium.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to use this for yet, but I'm thinking it might be a good element to include in a diorama or large display base, since pegging it onto an ork vehicle or the likes seems wasteful. Perhaps I'll loot it and use it as an objective marker?
I also got a handful of small, assorted bits to play with.
Obviously, I'm very excited over the hammers and pirate orc heads. Since I'm working on a 'Saladamneders' army, I need all the Thunder Hammers I can get, and these things look right at home being swung by power or terminator armor. The orc boy heads are also pretty fantastic - I already have a larger set of the Nob ones for when I make flash gitz, and I think I might save these three for the orks that will have to be crewing their very dakka-laden Battlewagon transport. I hope that down the road the MaxMini guys consider making some bodies to go along with these heads; right now, Micro Art Studio produces the closest thing to "Flash Git" bodies wearing long coats with their Orc Body set, but these are only Boy sized, and proppa Flash Gitz need to be almost the scale of Nobz. You'll also note a couple of other bits there, including one of MaxMini's "M-guns", a trio of "Steam Knight Helmets", "Fallen Legionnaire Helmets", "Feral Heads", and some of their "Skulls" bits. As with the other photos, these are all of bitz that are straight out of the package with zero cleanup - you can see why I love MaxMini's quality control. If those hammers had been from anyone else, the wires on them would have been a disastrous, miscast mess.
So, yes, in summation I have nothing but glowing things to say about MaxMini.eu's work. I'm not ashamed to say it. Obviously, I hope they focus on making more... 'post-apocalptic', or scrap-built wargear so that I can incorporate it into my greenskin army, but for those of you working on weedy forces like the Imperial Guard you really can't go wrong either.
I had a browse of MaxMini a while ago. Brilliant stuff, but I just couldn't choose! Anyone mind if I just take the whole store? Let's see....I've got about....10 bucks.

On the model I got, the ramp is one solid chunk of resin. It's not hollow, and the bottom is solid and smooth. The rocket body is also one solid piece of resin - not hollow.
Well... damn! Those look pretty sharp! I will have to take a look at their site and see what excuses I can find to spend some cash I really like those thunder hammers and traitorous heads.
I`ve been waiting impatiently for the package with first sculpts from Igor for a 2 weeks.
Damn, Igor did so well with those I couldn`t resist going to our workshop to make first casts even though it`s weekend....
Sculpted by Igor Karpov. Hope to see more from him soon.
Nice to see some cast pics as well... I think I'm definitely going to have to pick up one of those rockets once the wallet has recovered somewhat from the wedding...
I personally dislike the idea of having to plow throw posts to find out what you guys have just come out with. If you want to just use a single thread then please just edit everyting on the first post.
@spacewolflord: I have a feeling that editing first post each time may cause even more confusion. How about if I add a note in the topic title on which page is latest update? That should do the trick....
@Grot 6, @Daggermaw : there's big chance we'll sell the carriages without the weapons as well. There will be more weapon options in the future, as soon Marcin finishes yet another big project he's working on .
Przemas wrote:@spacewolflord: I have a feeling that editing first post each time may cause even more confusion. How about if I add a note in the topic title on which page is latest update? That should do the trick....
@AgeOfEgos: There will be a restock at the end of next week and from now on they should be avialable on a regular basis. We had some issues with custom orders on those with 2 designs being insanely popular and we need to make additional production molds for those.

Ahh ok, good to hear. I'll be keeping an eye on the site in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, me too!
I'm looking forward to adding those to my Pre-Heresy Terminators - this is going to help a lot, as I'm sure my '1/2 barrel' versions wouldn't have turned out as nice!
I'll be stopping by at Salute to pick up some of those sexay Cybork bits.
Will you be doing anything like sneak peaks or even pre sells of upcoming new stuff at the show?
Edit: I was hoping to get some of your rather tasty shotguns for a Necromunda gang too but I see they're sold out. Are you likley to have fresh stock in time for the show?
@Gargskull: I'll be happy to see you at Salute .
We'll have some pre-releases. The most likely one is the long-awaited steambike. I'll keep my mouth shut about the rest (at least for now ) as a lot depends on when I'll get some of the new sculpts.
The shotguns will be restocked next week. In general you'll notice slower stock update in the next couple of weeks. This is mostly due to our preparations for Salute.
Sculpted by Filin . Damn, he did a good job on those - I just need to find proper minis to glue them to .
I'm really happy he carried on old B-class horror movie feel to them. Not some kind of freaky variation of "wolf" head but a crosbreed between human and wolf.
This will be propably another new release we'll bring to Salute
Arrgh.
Every time MaxMini shows new stuff in this thread I surf past their web site - but the items are seldom available to order.
Then, when the items finally are available - I might miss out - or there are other unreleased things that I also want to order
(this said, I have placed quite a few MaxMini orders anyway).
Please: When releasing images of pre-production resin, please be specific regarding when they will be available to order.
Awesome looking heads I am glad the hair is similar to the space wolf cuts, it will make them fit the army well. I still can't believe they did not do something with the 13th company in the new codex.
bubber wrote:Looks like I'm going to be spending my Salute £ at MaxMini's stand this year!
I've been putting together a massive shopping list for the show by going through the whole list of traders on salute's website.
It's gotten so long I'm going to have to do two rounds, one for my must haves and another to buy the other stuff with whatever I've got left.

I'd like to know how these heads scale with cadian bodies.
due to my 'mate' being a complete dozy t**t, i didn't get picked up for Salute this morning. Was really looking forward to having a chat & buying those guns.
Will order from your site when the shop's back open.
yeah,
I checked out your stall, some very nice stuff.
I was after 15 of the kromlech tank tracks, but they are internet only for individual picking. so I ended up only buying one clanking destroyer as a test run to convert to a grot loota.
hehe. I actually love those cyborg bits. I dont colelct orks. Probably never will. But for some reason theres a part of me that wants to but a battlewagon and some of those bits and make a gorkamorka cybork tribe>.>
They should be back in the store - I'll phone Kacper (he handles the webstore) and will check what's keeping them out of stock.
Just unpacked last items and got back to normal after Salute .... Damn, it was fun (Salute , not unpacking )!
Ok, I'm after a chat with him - the pads will be back on Sunday .
The problem with them seems to be solved for the moment but I have to admit we'll inspect the sales VERY carefully to avoid mess in the future. We've allowed custom deals for those and to our surprise it has turned out that most of the people want only one of the pads. This made coping with the demand a tad difficult even though we had considerable number of mixed sets ready...
Anyways apart from the pads some of the Salute pre-releases should be added as well

I hope this means that you'll be allowing 'custom' sales to continue - I really only want a few styles of this pad, much like I only wanted a few styles of steam knight helmets!
I think he said earlier that one pad was insanle popular and he had to make a new mold of just that pad(I am assuming the strappy one is selling like hotcakes)
So they can crank out more of them at a time.
I know I plan on hitting them up for 10 pairs of strappy.
And I think all the steam kinght heads are great depending on which legion you do.
One head looks kind of silly but when on a PH thousand son it is like WoW
I've just added new mini to our webstore - Spiked Warboar:
A pretty big boar I have to say, and the first model sculpted for us by our new inhouse sculptor - Robert Kurek. A talented git, he is already working on some new pieces I should be able to show very soon .
I've also added small but IMO handy thing - set of crates
Last but not least I got pic of the final version of the stemabike kit, complete with biker
The steambike is still the hotness. Love it. I like the carrier platform on the back... can't remember if that was there last time it was shown. but I have visions of a rotating weapon rig mounted on there...
Kroothawk wrote:What is the size of the boar? Maybe show him on a rider base.
insaniak wrote:The boar is a little soft. Not a fan, sorry..
Well, there is always pumbagor if you prefer that one
Big improvement over pumbagor, but still not perfect, missing a certain je ne sais quoi, but it doesn't make me want to throw up in my mouth which is a decided improvement over the GW version lol.
The bike on the other hand, is freaking epic.
I am anxiously waiting for bits I could actually use myself, would love to see a pack of normal human heads in differnt styles to the same quality as the wulfen and lotd style heads. couple of baldies, with better variety of expressions than angry shouty and angry grimacy, without bionics all over the place.
I've justt added werewolf heads set to the webstore:
Soon I should replace this pic with a new one with much better paintjob .
End of the next week should see the release of steambike. Some new stuff coming soon - just need to make pics to tease you more
@poipo: it's down to logistics. I've mentioned before that we'll be having some changes to custom orders earlier. Not all items will be subject to this option. Custom orders cause much more hassle on our side and we can't afford it at the moment. No worries though - most of the things that really need custom order option (shoulder pads for example) will keep it .
We're correcting neck sections on evil heads so they'll take a couple of weeks before release.
And back to the news - here's preview of one of those things I've wanted to do for a long time, but it never turned out as I wanted. Kevin Kosse proved to be a right man for this job:
This is not the last of the pieces Kevin worked on - expect more soon (hint, hint - more fur ).
As they'll be cast in resin it should be easy to make them fit most of the models (tip here - you can heat resin slightly with a hairdryer. This makes it soft so you can model it / bend it a tad).

Now you tell me. I just ordered some werewolf heads from your store.
The cloaks are awesome.
Do you think there is any way to get him to scuplt some regular cloaks?
Kind of like the one for Lord Zufor and the Termie Lord so we can have better choices than the commander cloak.
I'm slowly drowning in paperwork (apart from regular duties we're working to move to a bigger workshop) but that doesn't mean we're short of news .
Heck, even though I can't spend as much time on web as I'd like to I can't resist a small tease . Here's a small part of the release that we'll have shortly. More will be released soon
Just wanted to congratulate Maxmini for their excellent customer service!
There was an error in my recent bonesw...er...*bio*sword order, and all it took was a quick email to fix everything. Great job guys! I will definitely order from maxmini again.
@Roleplayer: let me know (via pm) how did you sent those email (from what address, to which address) etc so I could check what's going on. Sometimes our emails are blocked by spam filter . Unless stated otherwise you can order specific bits by writing which ones do you want in the comments field before checkout.
Even though we're not much into bases thing I think we'll have some special sets from time to time. That's mostly due to skill Hamster showed - when he brought this gun platform base I simply couldn't resist. That was exactly what I wanted for one of my armies
How does the gun base scale with IG heavy weapons? Do lascannons and autocannons fit over it? If they do this fall you have at least 2 sold. Also will it be sold seperatly?
@MeanGreenStompa: hehhehe - you're right mate . Here's the promised concept:
Concept by Boleslavart.
As soon as I'll have final casts I'll show them - Adam Grabowski definitely give the concept justice. He made the cyclops slightly heavier built and once again he showed he excels at textures.
@ghosty: heck, you'll be able to see for yourself soon. From my side I can only tell I'd bought such mini - if I`d thought otherwise I wouldn't release it .
And as I've mentioned especially texturework shines on this model.
This feels like a tease day so I've decided to throw this one too - bionic bits by FreakForge:
Yeah. if im honest with you, i just spat my tea on my laptop and had to clean it up. If im dishonest, i'll say im indifferent to the shiny awesome new robo arms and legs that i really want already. ahem.
Przemas, is your website contact/email working? I sent a message last week about an order I placed on 5/10/10 and still haven't received a reply back. Cheers.
@Malika: . heck, Adam is definietly a talented fella. here's pic of the sculpt before some minor final changes and cutting:
As for FreakForge - I was really pleased with the way he handled our project so for sure I'll be asking him to work on some more.
It will take a while though - we need to work out new workshop.
Luckily we already have a considerable amount of items waiting for release so the stream of new releases will keep on flowing (even though it will be more controlled )
AT first I wasn't sure but the band/strap Filin done is correct - just browsed some osprey's and found some for example on pics of Infanteriereregiment 96 field uniform.
currently Hamster52 is finishing the neck joints, so they should be ready for molding soon. No exact release date though - but it will be either on GenCon or earlier .
I personally like heads with gas/masks or some such covering the face since I hate painting eyes but these are really nice. Almost nice enough to get me to paint eyes.
But that just my lack of painting skills that are preventing me form buying a few. (Check book knocks on door)
Those Bionic Bits look really cool. Are there any pics on how they size up to a marine or guardsman? Also, when are you expecting to restock the Hvy. machine gun?
@poipo32: at the moment I don't think so , but we'll think about such set in the future
@MajorTom11: we're still discussing the matter. In the most likely scenario they'l be part of GenCon new releases (as it looks we'll be at the event - more on that soon).
@Doomonyou72: the set is made in a way that it should prove rather flexible. Even though (at least IMO) they would look better on armoured minis , wit a little work they should be ok for regular infantry models.
HMG should be restocked this week.
@OoieGoie: heck, no promises here except this one - when I'll be sure we have a solution to this matter that's worth releasing we'll do it. But definitely it's something on our "must-do" list .
Some changes will be made to large shoulder pads set. I have to admit I made a mistake with releasing a set that is so varied. Custom orders completely disrupted sales of this set and caused a lot of trouble on our side. We'll split this set into 8 sets each conating pads of the same design. It will take a while but should solve all the pains
Finally I can confirm it - we'll be at GenCon Indy 2010. Thx goes to folks from Pulp Monsters / Darkson Designs / Cipher Studios who invited us to their stand (number 2210). Apart from our regular ranges we'll bring some pre-releases like german heads. Will keep you updated.
update on GenCon pre-releases: I've just got first casts of mortar and limited numbers will available during the show Cyclops will be available as well.
Przemas wrote:update on GenCon pre-releases: I've just got first casts of mortar and limited numbers will available during the show Cyclops will be available as well.
No way I'm making GenCon, but when will the Cyclops hit the store? Oh, and did I miss something? I didn't recall seeing info about a Mortar?
For sure we'll have some stuff we haven't previewed so far. Some of those items will be even for sale (like mortars) .
Heck, there's even a chance I'll bring some of the stuff that should hit the store next year - if the folks out here won't intercept those before I show them that early .
@cygnus: cyclops will be added shortly after we'll be back from GenCon.
got back from GenCon - what an event! Full report soon.
Just in a meantime, while I fight with enormous jetlag (damn, I forgot how much pain it can be!), I've added cyclops to the webstore .
Evil heads will be added next Sunday - and there are those fortunate enough that got them prereleasse at GenCon .

Love that cyclops, could we get a size comparison shot? If he's the right size, I've got more than half a mind to make one into an Ogre Kingdoms Gorger.
@Jack: I'll try to resume our credit card gate. We haven't used it in a while so it may take some time before we set it up again (if it still works). But I'm not sure - aren't you allowed to make credit card payment through PayPal without registering?
Also while I were still sorting out thingies that piled during my absence I received some sketches for our future projects. Damn can't wait to see them sculpted .
When it says "10 randomly selected head swaps" it means I might have misfortune of getting multiple of head 5 and 7? I was hoping for custom order to be available.
Whooo, slowly catching up with the things after my return from GenCon and moving the workshop (btw - new place is great! sooo huuuuge!). Time to show some teasers . Here's the turret that Matus did:
Currently we're working on a base for it . Heck, this kit gave my a couple of ideas what we can do with it - don't yo think it might bwe cool with legs option ?
A lot more to show - sadly I lost my camera during my trip so it will be a while before I'll get used to next one .
We are happy to announce that we are working with Polish master sculpters Max Mini on a range of resin accessories for your heroes.
Max Mini is well known for unsurpassed quality and excellent sculpts. If you are unfarmilliar with their existing range of product, go visit their web site here.
The Army Painter will be releasing a set of Hero Basing early next year with 7 resin bits as part of the Battlefields XP Series.

Nice!
This is good news!
I can say with NO hesitation or reservation that MaxMini stuff is AWESOME in terms of the level of quality of casting and detail.
They are a great company with great product, and this announcement is even more good news!
Also, Przemas - My distributore (warpathgames) does not appear to be getting your latest stuff. Or are you guys just really back-logged on filling orders?
@jp400: it will take a while mate . as you know this project hasn't had much luck so far - at least when it comes to sculpting. but know it is the hands of the guy that IMO simply can't go wrong - the only problem is that he already has some other projects he's working on.
And as for being at tad silent - we should be able to work at full speed and even a boosted one really soon. We've almost finished preparing new workshop. We're already working there, only a couple of new machines and shelves need to be set up. Damn, I simply can't tell how happy I am that we made that move - the new place is miles better than previous one. It took a lot of from my reservoir of energy but I already see it was worth it. I might take a week of break, to finally get some holidays, after it gets done but no worries - the rest of the team will be here (and they've already taken their holidays ).
Apart from forcing me to be a tad silent on the forums it also forced us to cut distribution orders for a couple of months - we've already had troubles filling them. So the new place was in fact a must if we wanted to grow. I can only thank Warpath for being so patient with us and for supporting us through this time.
Starting from the next month will be slowly catching up with the distribution. On the first wave we'll do our best to restock all the old items. On the 2nd/3rd we'll be sending new releases and remaining items.
Oh, and almost forgot to mention - even though I've been silent this does not mean we haven't been working on new projects. Far from that. In fact this creative kind of work was one of the things that kept me going. The list of the items thats being sculpted is long - we've just need to schedule them in a reasonable way.

I think that somewhere around Christmas would be a good estimation. We already have ultimate version of it sculpted but it's simply too big (and thus too expensive). We're working on a more reasonably sized one at the moment .
The large one will propably become a webstore exclusive.

Sounds very good. I will continue to patiently await the day when I can swap out every GWIg head I have for these.

Hmmmm... the head in the bottom row.... was this influenced by anyone?
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried using the MaxMini Werewolf heads on Vampire Count Ghoul bodies? I've been thinking that might be a cool conversion, but it's expensive enough that I can't just justify making the order to try it myself.
@Kroothawk: we'll restock the wunderrocket next week. even though we have a couple of copies left I've disabled it in webstore untli we'll work out new production mold (old one have just broken) to avoid mess .
@jmurph: feldkannone is designed to work wit minis in 28mm "heroic".
grabbed protytype version of the new siege gun from the desk. it's still work in progress and some parts are missing (like cover, elements for the positioning mechanism etc.). let me know what do you think
ok, so as the price matter surfaced - what would you consider a reasonable price for this kit?
Got to admit it can't be cheap because of it's size and number of parts (the thing that we need to think about distribution discounts doesn't help either). At the same time, as usual, I'd like to ensure it will be affordable .
Really like that but would it possible to sell just the cannon and the immediate stand without all the shielding and loading gubbins? I want to make some gun trukks and I have plenty of sniveling grots to do my loading for me.

I'd suggest £16. Any higher and folks will consider going the extra mile for Forgeworld.
Just my 2peneth worth.
MGS nailed it. You need to come in well below FW's price. If nothing else, FW means "GW tourney legal" which will be a factor for a significant portion of your potential market. You need to come in low enough to offset that potential disadvantage.

Wait wait!! would this...? Would....? Yes!!!!
Can we get, perhaps a smaller version of the gun? I some kind of recessed carriage? =)!!!
And then a larger, shorter-barreled version with very large ammo. Maybe big enough to require a claw arm?
I think 18Euro for this kit would be a good deal (on my side at least) and not too pricey so people won't go for Forge World but I have no idea of the cost price. Anyhow it's a nice piece and since it's still wip it can get better!
One thing I can say from personal experience is that MaxMini's resin molding is significantly better than ForgeWorld's.
All the MaxMini stuff I've received to date (and it has been quite a bit!) has very little flash, no warping and overall is a VERY clean looking process that yields EXCELLENT results!
So, even if the price is 'close' to a similar FW piece?
I know I would, but I don't play in tournaments.
Many persons will choose the parent company before the alternative if it's the same price, disregarding the quality.
Do we have an ETA on this beauty?
Got to admit that pricing this kit may be tricky. I may worry a tad where it's not needed as I still don't know final costs, only estimated ones, but I doubt it will be much cheaper than similar FW piece.
Simply put I'll rather leave it on a shelf rather than sell withou getting some $$$ . And let's not start profit by quantity debate - it won't apply to this one. Quality resin kits are rather expensive on the labor required side.
Without distribution it wouldn't be a pain, but I simply don't want to make it webstore exclusive.
But the idea of selling just the gun as one more kit, without platform looks like a good one - that may be a solution. Thx mates .
Anyways I hope may worries will be out of place .
This time unusual update - as we're unsure about this release. It's something Robert and Hamster52 were working for quite a time.
There's one more head that is fully mechanical. The question is - should we release it? Due to size and number of parts (see below) it will be propably rather expensive :/ . The second quesstion is should we make legs for the rider sculpted on the saddle?
And just to have a laugh here's a precast in all its colorful glory Of course if it makes into production it will be cast in regular grey resin
Honestly, I don't think it's as nice as some of the alternatives out there. I think you'd be better off leaving it for now, and perhaps coming back to it, depending on what GW and FW do with their own attempt.
Not that it's "too-hideous-to-buy" or anything. It's fine. It's just not head and shoulders above anyone else's, and the book is a year old now, s the hype has receded. If it's expensive to produce, I don't think you'd see a real return.
Partially agree with you. It's a tad late - that's why I've asked about your opinion . The only reason I'm thinking about releasing it is because I think Robert and Hamster did a great job and also because I don't see much competition on this field .
Maybe sabre tooth looking fangs... I always thought the giant wolf thing should be improved upon.. tusks and it would look too orky or Boar-ish, but sabre tooths would be cool. Also, the mane makes it look like a lion as well>? just some thoughts.
I like it, too, especially the face which is Fenrisian rather than Terran. Even GW seems to have missed that distinction, so I have to say I like yours better than Canis's mount. Not so sure I like the "hairless" body, however, and the mane would need some touch up before I'd seriously consider buying. The general size and posture are very nice.

It's a nicely sculpted figure, for certain. But I'd say my worries are that it's only one pose, fairly static, and you'd really need to see a marine on it to know whether or not it will sell.
And as far as competition, there are one, two, three (and they have two different ones), four that I found with just a quick google search.
The second link (set of 5) I considered picking up.
If you want it to fly out the door, I'd say the three things you'd need are:
- multiple poses
- sculpted legs for the rider (as you suggested)
- and plenty of final pictures showing how it looks all assembled, so the buyer has a clear picture of what they will look like on the battlefield.
For bonus points, I would love to see a thunderwolf set that included an arm gripping the wolf's mane - similar to the new boar boyz models. That would be amazing, and a big step up from the other sets.
@Scottywan82 : it will sound a tad arrogant but I consider neither of those linked as a competition. IMO none of them is a cool sculpt (maybe with the exception of a MAS one, but it's not mechanical, but a very cool giant wolf).
I'm pretty sure we'll match at least 2 of the points you've mentioned - pictures and saddle with legs. As for poses I think we could get half point - there are interchangeable parts in this set so you're able to assemble this model in variety of ways .
@Manchu: "hairless" body was a deliberate choice. First of all I have to admit I've always hated painting sculpted fur (with VERY few exceptions). Also I think that at this scale regular fur would apear as a smooth surface. That's why I've asked Robert to sculpt fur only in the areas where it is the longest
I like the saddle a lot, as well. I have learned (from the LotR DVD bonus features, no less) that predators have flexing spines rather than "stationary" ones (like horses) so if your were to ride one--like a giant wolf--you'd basically need to sit astride its haunches or just behind (see the Warg riders). I know TWC seem a tad ludricous just conceptually but I think this unrealistic execution unconciously contributes to the impression of absurdity. It's a definite design challenge, I'll grant.
I like everything forward of the hind legs, but that sloping back and too short hind legs put me off. Nice try but no cigar, the Paulson ones http://www.paulsongames.com/resin.html pip it by some way. Sorry if this post is a bit negative, as I normally like the sculpts, and give the German heads a thumbs up even though I have no use for them
I disagree with the posters above: It's got great physiology and the face is really good. The only thing I'd agree is an issue is the lack of multiple poses. The free limbs might help somewhat, but it's body posture that really needs to be adjusted. Rescuplting some casts to have a right-leaning pose and a forward-leaning pose would be plenty.
This is the first Maxmini thing I haven't loved. I just find the sculpt quality isn't up to their usual level of quality, both in design and execution. Sorry Maxmini!
no need to be sorry - i'm tough skinned . I knew that it won't apeal to all - even though I disagree about the quality. But I'm in lucky position in this way that I've had this model in my hands.
Well, can't please everyone - hope we'll come up with something that people that don't like the wolf will enjoy .

Fair enough. For me, I'm past that irresistible urge stage for Twolves, but it's your business.
I'd just rather see you guys turn your considerable sculpting skills to something else instead. Any number of things spring to mind. Particularly barrage-fire-Imperial-Guard things with tracks.
The musculature looks quite soft, although that may just be the pictures. But that, combined with the static pose makes it a less interesting option than some of the others that are already out there.
I very much dislike that cyborg wolf. The non-cyborg is OK. In either event, no legs, I don't think.
That being said, Maxmini makes a great deal of things I like very much. I just got my first order delivered from there and found the casting quality to be top notch.
