Ordered.
Might be jumping the gun a little but I'm thinking they'll be a perfect style fit for MK 5 Assault Marines. Been a while since you first posted the original wips for these but the waits certainly been worth it.
@Alpharius: in the comming week I should be able to show 2nd variant. We've just made production mould for it and it seems to work fine so far . Then we'll need to wait for it to get painted - so I'd say in around 3 weeks I should be able to release it .
For the coming week I've prepared new funky weapon set - something slightly more unusual . Also neobrit trenchers head set is waiting for release .
I´m Freakforge , the guy that made the sculpting work on the jump packs.
I can answer some questions about the new jump packs.
I made 4 new variants based on the basic shapes made by Hamster52. As far I know those will be realized as 4 different sets of 5 jump packs each.
The tail piece of the thruster was originally modelled as a separed piece, I believe that Przemas keep it that way.
And finally about the jump packs design , I can say that I try to give some variety on the desings, but at the same time keep them "generic".
Keep an eye on thread, I believe that you will not dissapointed.
Luuuuuuv the neobrit trencher heads. A choice of more than 5 would be nice, although i guess it wouldn't be hard to drill out the ends of the breather thingies to replace with your own, for a little more variety.
Crazy busy at the workshop setting up new casting equipment - I couldn't resist to make some test with it. Heck, first metal casts turned out surprisingly good without much hassle so that should mean we'll have an option of casting in white metal in a month or two .
Taz has sent me some updates on the things he's working on. Hope to be able to convince him to work on more projects (not only sculpting) - working with such a cool fella is fun .
2nd variant of the new jump packs is being cast - soon I should be able to post a preview .
@Guildsman: tough to tell as I don't have any Inifnity models. But I can measure the gun - hopefully it'll help a tad .
@TheSovereign: I'm having issues with my google-fu today , but you may try looking at this post at B&C.
Quick update on a next set of jump packs .
My apologies for pic quality - ATM I'm working hard to get new casting stations running so finding time for proper wip pics is difficult. I promise to make good ones for the webstore when those will be out .
Hm. Interesting additions to that jump pack. I may have to get some.
I'll admit, though, that I kind of liked that jump pack before all of the additional detail.
Now you need another 3 sprues to go with those. The only terrible thing about the great work from yourselves and kromlech and others, is that there is not enough to completely or nearly completely individualise a unit.
The new Jump Packs are fantastic. I'll definatly be ordering some once they're released, along with some of them gobbo heads. Got my latest order a couple of days ago. Seems customs like to check out boxes of resin arriving from Europe...
Once I get my ^%#$&^ coursework done, I'll get some more product reviews up on my blog, along with the Scibor and Bitsudlo stuff I'm way behind on.
That looks really cool but I am just not sure how it would phyically fit with your typical 'heroic' sci-fi soldiers. Basically I am not sure how you would actually model a 28mm heroic super soldier holding that thing.
The_Stormrider wrote:Perhaps it's a "not-psycannon"?
Really? I thought it was a "not-conversion beamer" in the old-school hand-held style from Space Crusade. Though I suppose most of today's gamers are too young to remember that one.
Here's a pic of the old sprue. The c-beamer is on the bottom left.
Yeah, my first thought was "I've spent the last two weeks converting my Master of the Forge and his conversion beamer and now someone makes one that looks better than mine when I have the cash to buy it."
SickSix wrote:That looks really cool but I am just not sure how it would phyically fit with your typical 'heroic' sci-fi soldiers. Basically I am not sure how you would actually model a 28mm heroic super soldier holding that thing.
Easy, imo. Just take your space marine and on the left hand side, find a straight arm (either pointing or holding a sword). Cut off the hand, and then get a "normal" open hand from a left bolter arm. Glue it so the fingers are pointing down, so it looks like it's holding the top grip. Fill the gap in the armpit with greenstuff (or just hide it with the shoulderpad, you lazy bastards).
Love the tesla cannon, but yeah, hard to tell how big it is or how easily it will fit e.g. a GW marine. (Or e.g. a Necron? - hmm, there'd be a cool alternate look for an army)
I'm in love with the tesla cannon. Combined with the fact your selling them 5 to a pack.... wow! Once again I need to place an order with Maxmini for some things. Great job on the new jump packs. They look killer.
Maxime posted work in progress pic of the item he currently works on - check his blog. But here's a small teaser :
Heck , pile of cool things on my desk grows - and damn it, it keeps me very busy nowadays . But that's a good thing .
Some photos should follow up shortly ...
I said it before, I'll say it again: I kind of preferred that jump pack before all the extra stuff got put on it. That looks just a wee bit too banged up for my taste.
@wspatterson: Can't please everyone - even though we try .
As promised here's a quick teaser of one of the projects that currently lay on my desk:
Kulasyrk did great with 3d modelling. Soon I should be able to share next stages of the development.
Let me know what do you think .
Got to admit that this idea has been waiting in my head for 2 years or so - I'm so happy to finally see it done .
These remind me of the old G-Force cartoons from back in the day. Even the Griffith's Demon Helm from the Berserk series. Nice! Could work well for Tzeentchian chaos warriors?
Number 5 reminds me of chocobo knights from Final Fantasy.
Number 2, 4, and 7 kinda remind me harlequins for some reason. They got a circus performer feel to them. Either that or plague doctors.
The heads look great, will be usable in a lot of different armies. My only criticism - judging by the front views, the wearers can't actually see frontwards? Don't know how practical it would be to enlarge/move the eye holes a little more to the front...
The Grav bike looks good but a little light on the back end. The front end looks great but with it the back looks like it would be a pain to balance if you want to model it floating.
I like the overall aesthetic of the jetbike - not sure about it's tail-end though with the exhaust located facing up like that, though. Front end looks great, though.
With the jump packs, I have to agree - some less busy ones would work well. I'll no doubt buy a pack of these for the variety, but a variation on these (and the last ones) that are more symmetrical and without too much extra detailing - maybe panel lines, but not too much cabling or overlaid panels, studs, etc.
I like the jetbike, but wish a bit more in the back end and maybe seperate the guns in the front maybe have them coming out of the front end like a 20mm on a f-16 falcon.
Will let Maxime know about your suggestions guys .
In a meantime FreakForge is having fun with a side, fun project and started a log on maxmini forums. He received cyberwolf sculpted by Robert wit a note he can do anything he wants with it. Here's how the model looks ATM :
ext steps of the Steel Crow Tribe helmets design and casting process.
First here's a shot of some of the 3d prints of the models:
We've used those to make a "master" mould. Casts from it will be then cleaned and corrected a tad. Most of the work at theis stage is about smoothening the surface - usually prints are really smooth only on flat surfaces. But at the same time have to say that thx to using a very high quality printer this stage is not a pain - it's not that much to do .
When this gets done I'll choose 5 IMO best designs and will make first pre-production mould.
If we're able to order specific helmets, I'm definitely on board for some as the previously mentioned 40K Raptor helmet opinion expressed earlier is spot on!
Ouze wrote:Some of these look amazing for use as DIY or pre-heresy Chaos Legion Raptor helmets.

@Piousman : the only models I could use for such comparison are Pulp City models, will that work for you ?
Those are designed to be 28mm "heroic" human sized , so they should work for regular human infantry/cavalry. IMO they may be a tad too big for delicate models like dark eldar.
And now to something new :
.... next big creature is coming .
A small teaser of the soon-to-be released set by Adam Grabowski:
Dedicated followers of Beast Of War shows should already know what it is .
Wasn't there a weird looking avian helmet wearing guard regiment pictured in the 3rd edition guard codex? They were from a feral world, and looked pretty neat. If you wanted to have a unique looking guard army, these would fit the bill.
Przemas wrote:@Piousman :

Disappoint.
Yeah, I have an entire Eldar army that will be wearing those if they fit.
As the painting of Goblin Pirates Heads has been taking a tad too long I've slapped the paint myself - and here they are:
http://bit.ly/tUwt2t
I've decided which Steel Crow Tribe helmets won't be part of the set. It was difficult decision as I like all of them, but in the end the ones on the sides had to go. I especially regret the right one - it kinda reminds me some of the he-man designs.
The deciding factors were production/assembly related. The one with flowing hair on the back would be difficult to add on an existing model, while the plain one (the one on the right) printed with an error on top.
Cute nectarprime... but they don't really work as marine heads as you can see the actual head under the helmet. As dark eldar or something like that... they'd be great though.
Przemas wrote:As the painting of Goblin Pirates Heads has been taking a tad too long I've slapped the paint myself - and here they are:

Hehe, they look awesome. I shall have to pick some up for when I expand my rebel grot mob!
I see those bird heads and think to myself: I could really save myself some time pinning my metal swooping hawks if I got those heads, some scourge/dire avengers/guardian bits and kitbash out some custom swooping hawks. They look a whole lot more dynamic than the current swooping hawks (and the plastic/resin combination will also help it balance - too many vanguard veteran flashbacks).
Gitsplitta wrote:Cute nectarprime... but they don't really work as marine heads as you can see the actual head under the helmet. As dark eldar or something like that... they'd be great though.
No reason that they can't just be wearing ceremonial helms, though... Still, I'd see this as more Slaaneshi marine than loyalist.
So far I've gotten the Confession Booth, a couple gun kits and several head swap kits from MaxMini. All brilliant stuff. I thought the Commando heads were a bit too small until I actually glued them on to Cadian bodies, but they're awesome. They look great. My Deathwatch Marine with the minigun looks perfect. Just like Gov. Ventura in Power Armor...
Scale shots are tricky bussiness under laws in Poland . One of the reasons I've added measurements on the product page(approximately 11,5cm x 7,5cm (width) x 8,5cm (height). ). But will talk with Maciek (PulpCity owner) to use his models for scale shots. They should give you a good idea of the size.
You could always take a pic next to a ruler, or put a scale bar on the bottom or side. No reason a "scale shot" has to involve someone else's mini.
Couple of comments, and I mean this in all sincerity having purchased and enjoyed your items in the past. The closer you get to FW prices, the less I'm interested. Also, if there isn't a pretty close analogue so I can proxy this without complaint, there's not much incentive for me to purchase it. At those dimensions it's a little smaller than a truck (and clearly not a truck)... it's neat, but what do I do with it? (and I ask this rhetorically, don't expect an answer). There may be other games where this fits in, but for my primary game I'm a bit skeptical.
@Gitsplitta: well, one of the reasons we have only a few of large kits - they are expensive on our side as well ( moulding and casting materials, plus work involved). Sadly I can't make them cheaper in this medium at the moment. Hopefully quality makes up for it .
Great quality to be sure, and I wasn't suggesting price gouging on your part. Simply stating that one of the advantages to dealing with third part manufacturers is the relatively sane pricing structure. The closer you get to having to charge FW prices for your items (even if it's justified), the less attractive they become.
Didn't see this posted. Their not-mycetic spore is out. This has to be the nicest I've seen, and even loiks like it fits in with the Tyranid aesthetic. Even the tentacles appear similar to scything talons.
I would love to get one of those scrap tanks, but I don't do paypal, and that's the only payment method they accept, and the owner of my FLGS said they won't be available for him to order. Oh well.
I like the look of the Scrap Tank, it feels much inspired by the Grot tanks from FW, which is definately a good thing. I might get one if I finally get the time and dedication required to work more on my Mad Mek Ork army.
@warpcrafter: elotsip is righ, there's a chance Neal will sort it out for you. There are several online stores that carry our goods.
Also I think there's a chance we'll be able to accept credit cards, not only PayPal, on the beginning of 2012. All depends how the modules for the updated webstore software will work.
As our Facebook profile is finally up and running I can reveal the big beastie we've been working on :
Here's a size comparison next to his younger brother (the smaller one is mounted on 40mm base):
And quick photo of an unpainted resin cast:
last couple of days I've been pretty much offline - mostly due to some php/css coding I've did (my brain hurts ). But that does not mean we're behind with new stuff - in fact pile of new thingies grows. Need to get as many released as possible before the new year
at Przemas ...i have avoided for so long to make a substantial buy from you fellas... my kids do need food on a regular base...but now you really crossed my line...damn...i think i need to put an order now...*mumbles*
Any plans to take the two cut heads and add three more for another set? One of the heads that didn't make it to the final five was one of my favorites :(
Kroothawk wrote:Problem is, everybody would only buy the 4th from left.
Really? If I were going to get any, it would be the second or third from left, but I really don't have a use for them currently.
I may use that second one for a really strange project I've been thinking about. Who knows?
@Mad4Minis, @Alpharius: sure guys, as usual we can work out such deal .
@bubber: we're still discussing price tag of the big fella. Won't be cheap for sure, but we're checking options. The final desicision should be ready this week - as I want to release it by Friday .
Przemas wrote:@Mad4Minis, @Alpharius: sure guys, as usual we can work out such deal .
Awesome, hopefully soon Ill be able to get in an order. I got your skull tribe master of rites kit and some of the large (terminator) shoulder pads several months ago. I used a DA robed body to make the skull tribe master of rites. Came out great but is as of yet unpainted.
Could you sculpt some female armored legs to go on that bike too? I fancy converting it to some Adepta Suroritas, since it just screams gothic church to me.

- New Year then?
Need a price so I can budget tooth vaneer replacement & probable car bill.
A question, for the maxmini crew, is it possible to place orders for several of a specific piece from a set? im looking at the tox gaurdsman heads, and theres two that are absolutely perfect for the conversion im planning, so i would like 5 of each rather than the whole tox set (which has ones im not gonna find a use for), but im unsure if ordering like that is possible.
Those look ace! Really nice design on the legs, the flow of the greatcoat, etc. Do you plan on releasing all of the necessary component parts to build a 'future' soldier?
Great news, I think this will be my next project. Do you have an ETA on the arms--and a price point you are considering on the legs (trying to figure price/model). Thanks again for the info.
AgeOfEgos wrote:Great news, I think this will be my next project. Do you have an ETA on the arms--and a price point you are considering on the legs (trying to figure price/model). Thanks again for the info.
Same here!
They'd make great Alpha Legion Cell Operatives - nice!
Nice legs, babe The buttoned back flap (I'm sure there's a technical name) gives some visual interest and avoids the 'floppy dressing gown' look some competing great coats are suffering.
My only concern - will there be a choice of more than three?
Thx ! Damn, haven't thought those will cause such a stir . But its awesome to hear you enjoy those.
Don't want to make any final statemts at this point , but those legs should be out soon - in a month or so.
Price tag has not been decided - again I'm checking options. In a week or so I'll propably run a poll on our facebook page asking you which material to use. As usual we can do those in resin - which I personally love as it offers the best quality and is so cool to work with. But it is expensive. On the other hand we can try casting those in white metal. The casts won't be so easy to work with as with resin, but we should be able to work out better deal (casting in white metal is not so labour-expensive).
At last, some decent great coat legs! I haven't really liked any of the competing legs from other companies, the proportions are normally way off and as has been said they oftem look like they are wearing dressing gowns!
These however are spot on, and I will be definitely buying quite a few regardless of whether they are metal or resin.
as you mentioned Przemas, you are working on those arms...any time soon to be finished with those? i think after that then i will have to make a complete platoon with your help^^
personally i would prefer here metal...but well it is just personal taste...
Resin for me i prefer the workability with that material however if it keeps the cost down, it is a tough one that I don't suppose we could have both materials? its just I am sure you could cover the cost of both due to the demand for these.
You mentioned arms cant wait to see them good that you are taking the time to produce them to work with all weapons fitting arms can be a real pain in the arse.
Will their be any chance of torso's to fit this range varying styles of great coats no body armour that sort of thing ?
just a quick list of my favorite non weapon realted stuff to build soldiers...hell one of these days^^...i have to really complete my other stuff beforehand tho...^^
Thanks Viktor but I have everything on that list (at least once if not several times) I have been with them since the early days LOL but I have to say they are a great team and do listen to what there customers want, I have to say the Polish companies out there producing stuff for this hobby seem to be the best in the market place, although I have to say a big hats of to Victoria Lamb as well she has created some really cool stuff as well.
Torso wise I was hoping they might create some just as great coats no body armour maybe some simple webbing or satchels or pouches that kind of thing, body armour is great but other looks is needed as well.
at LDD... yeah i think a new torso really fitting to these legs would be even better... and from what i have seen...they are a buch of very good producers... and way better in contact with their customers then GW will ever be... if they do a complete line of minis like these somehow imply they will strom the market... i see then no point in wasting money for instance to FW or GW anymore...
Viktor von Domm wrote:at LDD... yeah i think a new torso really fitting to these legs would be even better... and from what i have seen...they are a buch of very good producers... and way better in contact with their customers then GW will ever be... if they do a complete line of minis like these somehow imply they will strom the market... i see then no point in wasting money for instance to FW or GW anymore...
With you on that Vik might make the other companies listen to what they want
Well you have caused quite a stir with these new legs! For good reason too, the details look excellent!
I think a selection of three legs should be enough but for the bigger sets I would not want too many kneeling poses as they stand out amongst a crowd too much.
Some arms, heads and maybe some different torsos and I never have to buy an IG Cadian again!
Automatically Appended Next Post: (I also vote for resin parts, simply because I prefer the material though metal parts would not bother me too much!)
.
For sure there will be another (differently themed) legs set - we already have it (yeah , I know - again I'm a tease ).
We're working on first arms set. It will take a while - as usual I want to make sure everything works as planned and the quality is top notch.
Also I'm thinking on new torsos sets.
There's already quite nice selection of heads, but for sure there will be more as soon as I get some fresh ideas .
Next week I'll check possibility of moulding greatcot legs for white metal. The more I think about it the more I'm convinced that it's a good idea. Still will work out a poll about it - as I'll be eager to hear your opinions on the matter.
Those look really good. I'm not into greatcoats but I know quality when I see it.
This should probably wait for the FB poll, but given the choice I'd always take higher price and resin when the QC is known to be good. This is already an expensive hobby, you're a premium boutique seller, and we have come to expect the best, they should be priced accordingly.
On the other hand, these legs do not lend themselves to easy reposing without requiring a lot of greenstuff work; so since they will be used as-is perhaps metal would be a good choice if it was a lot cheaper. A lot of the selling point of resin is easy conversions to my thinking.
Ouze wrote:A lot of the selling point of resin is easy conversions to my thinking.
For me, it's the far easier clean-up (if any) and the higher degree of detail. I'd prefer resin, but I'd like to see the price difference before I make a solid vote. I'm American, and we'll buy things we don't even want if they're cheap enough, so metal versions of legs which I really do want should be an easy sale at the right price.
Przemas wrote:yup . The only part missing are arms. They are the trickiest part as I want to design them in a way that would allow fitting different weapons easily.
If you make them weaponless arms, it would sell me on a Guard army.
Those bodies, arms with Forgeworld Elysian Bullpup lasguns, and unarmoured heads... Yeah, that would make me start a Guard army.

I am totally with you on the weaponless arms it's a must, nothing worst than being stuck with a particular design or set up of weapons (some of the larger companies could do to learn that one ) or if you want armed arms you should do a couple of sets.
Also while we are talking arms some more at rest designs would not go a miss sick to death of the same bad firing poses
The bike looks pretty good. I’d be tempted to buy one if the bike came with legs (it’s a pain in the arse to re-position legs to work with third party jetbikes). Also the postage service that Maxmini uses has much left to be desired.
For the price (double that of a Space marine biker and £3 more than the chapterhouse one-though with better quality) I'd say that I'd have to reserve this to character units rather than whole squads. However it would be a little strange to have only one character riding one of these, so the squad option would be recommended. The pricing is almost on par with Forgeworld (£12/17 for their rough riders, though those included riders), but I guess this could be justified by the lower number of retails sales. I'm only voicing my concern so much due to these actually being models that I would like to buy, but I just don't think that other companies charging prices that are as similar to Games Workshops is right without justification. =/

FYIGW Bikers are $15, Chapterhouse Jetbikes are $14, and the Maxmini ones are $19.80. I dont see where these are double the price of GWs.
As far as quality goes, I guess that is all subjective, have you compared all three models side by side?
I'm not sure where there's competition here. Chapterhouse jetbikes and MaxMini Jetbikes follow GW's Master of the Ravenwing design rather closely. There's no reason you can't simply go with both.
Also, GW doesn't explicitly produce jetbikes. They have a super-expensive Master of the Ravenwing set that is impractical to buy just for the jetbike.
Plus, the GW Jetbike isn't as 'generic' as these, and I mean 'generic' in a positive way. The GW Jetbike is Dark-Angels specific with "I am a special-character" written all over it
don't want to make any promises on this matter - we're doing our best to release them ASAP . Especially conisdering that we have another legs set ready .
We're casting initial batch and checking casting material options.
was just getting ready to contact MaxMini on an order that I placed on the 3rd, and after looking over my invoice it turns out that I somehow typed in my address wrong. So lets hope my neighbors have my packet, or lets see if the postman send it back.
I do love me some MaxMini stuff, and this is how I feel with most of the pictures posted in here:
@Vitruvian : wait for the next set of legs - IMO it should work for your project .
A while ago I've contacted really cool artist, Daniel, to work on a sketches for mecha egyptian helmets. He turned out not only a friendly fella but also a very talented git - as you can see below
All those Egyptish helmets are great. Only downside - they're just as appealing to Necron players as chaos marine players, which makes it awkward for you to build heads with the right neck connections.

I'm really liking the middle right helmet. Now, It's been a long time since I've looked at Egyptian military designs, but that particular one doesn't really scream "Egyptian" at me either. Still a great helmet though, and I like the others well enough too.
If we are able to pick and chose on the backpacks, I will be all over the one on the left. If that's the case, I'll be placing an order as soon as these are released!
Those egyptian helmets look amazing. I'd love to get a 20 pack of the ones on the bottom left. The predator-esque one on the top right is pretty nice too.
As for the Egyptian heads update, they look good, but the one on the bottom right looks like the villain-nemesis of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. You need to get rid of the teeth-baring look...
