Hello there!

I´m gonna use this Plog to show you what I´m working on (WIP & PIP, sketches, etc.), some finished pieces, and another crazyness.
Mostly 40K commisions, but will be some other models of WHF in the future (and some personal projects too ).

After a long time of work the first Primarch over my desk flew away...

And in this particular case the sentence have double meaning because the Primarch is the non offical pictured Corax, primarch of the glorious XIX legion, the Raven Guard.

This commission was particulary difficult to me because I have to design the model with only a few and very vague descriptions of the Primarch. The project began like a year ago, and by that time there´s no other information that some poor lines of background.

The audiobook "Raven´s flight " came at the 3/4 of the project, and not help to much about the design terms, only defined that Corax have a jetpack that allows him to fly, and not only jump.

After various failed concept designs, and a lot of discuss with my client, I came to the conclution that Corax have a lot of potencial to be a native american background based character ....

YOU SAY WHAT?

Yeap, think about it:

* Corax live in a tribe that call him Corax ( the scientific name of the raven).
* Theres an american tribe called Apsáalooke most know as "Crow people".
* Corax and his tribe are slaves in a huge industrial complex ( that reminds me what happen with the original american people under the European colonization).
*The guerrilla warfare tactics are one of the most common war tactics used by the native american.
*The crow is ussually presented as "totem" in the RG fluff.
*The hulk RG monters that Corax made (after the heresy) remind me the legend of the Wendigo .
*And finally the well know Corax´s final phrase is a quote from the poem "the Raven" By Edgar Allan Poe... an American writer.

Maybe sounds too strange something like this, mainly because most of the 40K background is based on European and Asian myths and cultures (with a few exceptions), but believe me, I think a lot about this and have a lot of discuss with my client.

I´m really proud in how the model turns out, and to the date Corax is the best model that I made.

The model measures about 50mm high.

So, after this long introduction I leave you pics of Corax, Primarch of the Raven Guard... VICTORVS AVT MORTIS!

C&C are welcome as always.

Thanks for reading.

More to come soon.

FreakForge

PS: The banner-Totem seems misaligned in a couple of pics, that´s because it wasn´t glue.

Fantastic piece, I think you really nailed the dynamic motion.

The only criticism that I can offer is that the raven skull is not correct, I would change the nasal cavity and some of the ridges on its head.

Glad to see you posting on here FF!

I would highly suggest showing some of your past work here too, like the other primarchs etc, people will flip out!

For the record, Freakforge is the one responsible for the Terminator Dante on my blog, and I would more than recommend him for commissions if you are interested, just give him the time he needs to work on it and he will come through with stunning pieces!

Stunning, I can't believe how well you sculpted the face, to not only capture the "classic" native American facial features but to also give it emotion...beautiful work.

Thanks to all for the replies!

@Dakka_Dok: thanks! The paintjob goes by Thomas Schadle, also know as Commander Y.
Here you can check the progress of the PIP:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/MiniVault/187587854842

@LunaHound: maybe is pic angle, but I take special attention to those details... here´s a detail pic that shows better the relation of sizes.

@Clthomps: Thanks! Wich skull are talking about? The big one?

@MajorTom11: Toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom! (sounds more epic in that way ).
I will try to upload some old jobs here... now you go and paint that dantenator !!

@jackanory: thanks. The idea was to make a n armour more light, and the classic shape of the astartes armour doesn´t fit verry weel with the "flying effect". I go with an armour similar to the one that Sanguinus wear in many illustrations.

Here´s a couple more of pics showing details and the model in pieces ready to be painted.

See you soon!
regards!

But pigtails? I always imagined Corax with long black hair, personally, but to each his own.

After a long time of work another primarch it´s done...

I take as starting reference the work on this character made by J.Blanche at the Horus Heresy artwork, and Mr. Eastwood in the "duel" scene at Gran Torino.
A quick discussion with my client and this sketch make a solid base to me to began with the model:

The model that I want to make shows a tower man shaped, a colossus that have the face aged by the war. The mix of human with machine in order to create the perfect paladin of the Imperium.
So no pretty boy face to me.

The model stands 55mm to the top of the head, made 98% from zero with GS, BS, a mix of both putties, plasticard and a few GW bits.

Without further ado, here is my vision of Rogald Dorn, primarch of the VII Legion, the Imperial Fist:

To your glory and the glory of Him on Terra!!!

Close-up pics coming soon.

regards
