That's how I did it shaso , although did you know that deep in the south east there is a spot with four families of deathclaws, each with momma, poops and a bunch of puppies? That was the hardest slaughterfest I had to see through...the quarry was a picnic compared to that...

Pfft, Abilene Kid LE BB Gun all the way. Combined with all the sniper and crit perks it's the ultimate doombringer. Zoink, zoink, dead.
Quite ridiculous when you have that gruesome death perk and a single bb pellet spreads tiny pieces of death claw all over the place.

I've got to be in the mood and the zone to paint figs..maybe after the ruin.

To answer your questions about the rooms..I don't know! I have some bathroom tile I could use, but Dr. H's most excellent throne master is still being built, and no sign of a bathtub, I've heard there are 1/4" scale dollhouse things but haven't compared size to a mini. Also, I didn't build any wall structure below on the first floor to contain the pipes that would usually be hidden behind walls. I REALLY want to have those walls busted open exposing the pipes in the walls.

I am working on maxing out the Argonian dragonborn who wears dragonscale armor, DLC l;et me adopt 2 kids and marry the fighter woman in the bar in whiterun, build a big house, and then IO got the Dragonborn dlc and now have gained a house on Solstheim in the old Morrow wind area as they kind of went retro there, Dawnguard I will deal with Vampires. Plenty of fun there, I have yet to finish FO:NV

i will answer this question as if it was meant in a sincere way

we are a fellowship of modelers that have seen the need to teach and show the world of other modelers the virtue of all things that is riveted...
thus we have collected likeminded and talented peeps that have prooven to be skilled and inventive in designing new ways how to...to not put a too fine point on it...rivet your models...

there are so many ways to achive a nice rivetd surface... almost all our members have designed and shown here and there how it is done as a way to help others on their way to great looking models, be it terrain, vehicles or even minis...

Show off works of rivets on models, they can be snipped plastic rod, from sheets that are sold online, PVA glue rivets, or drilled inverted rivet spots, but the idea is to make models with a dose of rivets in them, That gets our full attention!!

Be they flyers, tanks, walkers, skimmers, bridges, walkways, or other models, we love rivets!

I love a bowl of rivet-road ice cream topped in whipped rivet cream and rivet sauce with rivet sprinkles and a giant stem bolt on top! That is how we roll!

Come back to modelling Dave.
But not before you are ready.

On the League article thing; I just checked and it's possible for anyone to add themselves to the list, you just have to hit "edit" and copy one of the previous members entries, then replace the name, the link and the name of the blog. (remember to copy all the spacers etc...).
So maybe each member that is not on the list adds themselves to the list and then it's not a major task for one person to achieve...

Vitruvian wrote that article, and I'm not sure how to edit it myself.

he's also been playing on the Dakka FTB server. He is my neighbor in the new -=]_,=- District

Can you guess which place is mine from this picture?

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/10/03 14:37:26

Post by: Dr H

At the very top of the article above the "EX" of EXTRAORDINARY is "edit", click on that.
Then scroll down to the last "|-" that is above the "|}" and hit return to create a new line.
Then copy the text that is in the quote below (not as is appears in this thread but as it does in the typing box thing if you quote this post)...
|
Dr H
| [http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/471119.page The (Mad) Scientist's Army of The Second Law]
|-

Paste that in the new line you just made in the article.
Change my name ("Dr H" in this case) to your own,
Change the link to the link of your own blog, and
Change the name that follows that to the name of your blog.
And then hit "save" at the bottom and it's done.

there sure is! in multiple scales actually!
http://www.plastruct.com/picat/PLAIN_PATTRND_SHTS_9.pdf
scroll down to the patterned sheets section.

Other companies make similar sheets too.

This is Plastruct O scale, you could also use 1/4" dollhouse scale if you can find it. HO would probably be too small, unless you wanted the cobble that small

Your best bet is to use Aluminum mesh for chain link fencing, but if you want to buy it, look at this
http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/Miller-Engineering-O-48985-10-High-Chain-Link-Fen-p/mil-48985.htm
When using Train stuff, always go with O scale. If in doubt, take one of your minis to a train/hobby store and compare them to an O scale figure. You can sometimes use different scales depending on what look you're going for, but you have to watch out for scalebusters. Bricks and blocks are different sizes in real life, so they can be adapted, but watch out for fixtures and things that just look wrong.

I'd highly recommend ordering a Plastruct catalog. I think it costs $5 or $10, but it's totally worth it
It's your scratchbuilding bible

It also gives you real measurements for planning purposes

Thanks! They are O scale DPM panels, by Walthers, marketed for O scale Train hobbyists. They are NOT easy to work with, as they require a belt sander to cut 45 degree angles in each wall segment in order to build anything.

Sorry Theo, the crash was caused by someone who built a force field that intersected with another functional block, simply a glitch.

Here I've sprayed the ceilings black, then when dry, I applied some crackle medium. I've never had much luck with the stuff in the past, but apparently it requires the top coat and then it magically crackles. We shall see.

This is the craft paint variety, we shall see. It's still slightly sticky, even in front of the fan for awhile now.

Nah, it's a clear, sticky stuff, reminds me of corn syrup or something along that line.

granted the substance appears differently but the effect almost is the same... but i bet the medium is more reliably producing cracks...

You get that with PVA when there is a bubble below the paint that hasn't dried/cured.

Thanks guys!

I think I'm done with Minecraft now. I did something stupid, fell into a room with a lich, got killed, lost all my stuff, including my power armor. I don't even have the equipment to build new batteries for it. completely disheartening.

I know, I'll get no sympathy here right?

gak man I hate when that happens. I have played enough times to know that feel too damn well TT really sorry to hear that. Don't get discouraged but I do understand that it is insanely difficult to build back up to where you were. When we were playing there was an accident and the equivalent of a nuke went off in our alchemy lab. destroyed the lab, the alchemy equipment, the crystal chests, and two of the solar farms I had set up. So much work gone :(

that really sucks! I can borrow other people's Magma crucibles and induction smelters, but on foot, that'll take all weekend, and I just don't want to spend the time right now doing that. If I do go back, The first thing I'll do is build backup power armor. Time to fire up the airbrush. At least that time spent isn't wasted....

I always recommend Badger if you live in the US or UK. made in Chicago (parts are your biggest concern, you WILL bend needles). I have several now, but I use my Badger Sotar 20/20 for almost everything nowadays. For Starting out, I'd recommend the Badger Patriot 105. Whatever you decide, get a gravity feed, dual action. The Sotar has a smaller color cup, I waste less paint that way. Siphon feeders are a Huge mess and waste of paint.

It's a pretty common mid-19th century construction here in the US and Canada Vik, especially in snow-prone areas (snow slides off so less weight on roofs)

I should qualify that..it's common on wood-framed homes from the period. Masonry or brick buildings can handle the flat-roof. Also remember that Washington D.C. was a planned city layout, where other towns just sort of grew around major shipping lanes (rivers, canals, etc.)

I'm gone at work for a full day and now we are spouting nonsense? Dave have you never been to get the experimental MIRV in Fallout 3, you litterally have to stack up the barrels to get to one of the switches, there are doors to no where all the time. If Fo3 worked on my mac I would go there in a heartbeat and show you.

That being said I am way more interested in seeing an alley way set up. Like that part with the crazy guy who tries to blow you up if you go down there.

Also great work so far, keep it up glad to see that you are kicking into full gear again.

You seem to know quite a lot about scale model terrain and buildings, can you point my in a good direction of a castle wall and or gate?

Sorry, lots of family time yesterday, so couldn't chime in. I say keep it in tact dave, if anything blow out just one back corner, to let h sun shine in. I don't know if either of he two small boxes between levels would allow for your staircase to be a split staircase. If so I'd pu it back there. Looks like an older design building where the bottom floor would be a business, then a separate entry on the side or back or the top floors for offices or apartments. Back area of the first floor could be food prep and storage with a solid wall between it and the stairs up. The second floor old be an office like an accounting firm (bathroom only, no shower or tub), and the third floor be a single bedroom apartment, like o'grady lives there. That center round connector could be used for your plumbing shaft, or central heating vent from a basement boiler room, which I think you should build a cellar door for that attaches behind the building.

I was shopping for plastcruct plasitcard last night but I still haven't gotten paid yet so I was unable to do that.

@dave darn I am sad to hear that you have no recommendations I may just try to build my own before dropping money on the WHFB GW ones. We will just have to see. But on a side note I ended up gong to Michael's (craft shop in the us here for anyone who doesn't know) today with my Mother as she needed a few things and I found 2 rolls of 36" by 18" brick and cobblestone streets from the christmas village.

You can see more details on my p&m blog http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/538076.page#6123326

You could always just make a completely wrecked building with the pieces left. Cause you know not every building could survive the apocalypse.

Oh..I'm saddened to report that Phil Gieseking, owner of Phil's Hobby shop passed away. He made much of my stuff possible.

76, he wasn't that old really. Mesothelioma from working with asbestos during his Navy years.

And here I am hoping to make it past 60! He must have been tough living that long after the asbestos exposure/cancer. Much respect for him.

It all hit him suddenly actually. He was at the store every day up until about a month or so ago.

Most likely, like me, it started and he kept quiet until he could not handle it anymore, old vets tend to do that. I had proto-symptoms of the heart failure in 1985 when they cut me loose for the heart condition from exposure, went many years unaware until 2000, started to the pitting edema, blood sugar was all normal for a man my size, kept working and active until 2004 when I swelled up like a puffer fish, and found out it was indeed CHF and since then on damn pills and having all sorts of fun discovering new limitations to live with. I think he lived his life on his terms as long as he could, and that is a good way to go about it. Live life to the best of one's ability to the end.

Still winning my SSD I may be able to get the VA to finally stop being penny pinchers and declare me a decent degree of disabled, I went in healthy, 2yrs is all they got and I came out a wreck according to my paperwork, and they want to say it ain't service related Dave, BUT I do have discharge papers that show two different health situations from entry to discharge.

On another note, i have some Terran fighters and Yamato to buil;d as well as some heavy weapon teams for the Greatcoats from WGF I am working on, and i added pilots to the AT-43 battestriders

Today I see that Soldier's burial benefits are cut off too because of these so-called Tea Party "patriots" - pathetic. Good luck getting the benefits you earned, this is all madness. I didn't make his funeral..I wonder if the VFW Color Guard was even able to give him 21 blank shells??

One would hope that some decent formal burial was performed and he got his due with the 7 rifles fired 3 times, or, even 3 rifles shooting 7 times for his 21 gun salute for his service. Tea Party Koch brother puppets need to be voted out of office in 2014.

Yeah..anyone that thinks these ass-clowns are suddenly concerned with "equality" is a fething moron. This transcends politics, this is just disrespectful.

If not for their connections, they might have been placed in padded cells and pumped full of meds to calm them down and keep them from hurting society.

It is pretty damn disrespectful really, and politics is pretty stupid at it's given moment. I really just hate thinking about it :(

That really sucks, did his funeral go through? Just without the army respects?

Yeah, he was long retired. Funerals like that are private, but the vets usually attend to honor them. I was just curious. I know the Vets around here, they would've taken care of the ceremony anyways, out of their own pocket if necessary. It just came out today too..as if the whole death benefits thing for active duty casualties was an afterthought or something.....

Money for new techno gadgets and toys like tanks and missile systems but old and broken soldiers are something they hate to spend money on.

Well, I always like to TRY to put myself in someone else's shoes before I make a judgement. If I were in Washington, I think it would be very much like a trench war, no one can move, if you go over the top, you get shot in the face, if you run, your own people shoot you in the back. The environment is toxic and the Politicians use campaign money instead of bullets.

Good observation! just5 a nutshell, I went in with a leg and eye issues, 3 in all, easy to work around, came out with 14 new issues added to the list.

Sorry for the loss of a good friend Dave. It's sad to say, but at least he only suffered for a month. My grandparents were it top shape for 70+ years before all the bad stuff began. They even won golds in the senior Olympics. I hope whatever my end is that it happens quick, not some long ordeal.

Don't get me started on the government I think I already discussed my opinion a long time back. Were to a point that it WILL require a new revolution to reinvent Washington.

Them and all that money they can spend. That and no button marked "Revolution" on the remote controls in America.
Our Leaders ought to be picked from people who do not want power. Civil service ought to be like Military service of old. Name comes up, you go to congress or senate to go do a job for a few years and then go back to normal life/work. Also, the politicians ought to go and also be on ACA instead of the free uber care they get to enjoy at our tax expenses along with their self voted 250k checks
