Code geass, bleach, naruto (because they keep going), rideback (which was ok a little strange and how did they manage to beat the government again?), and full metal panic!
Im trying to determine the episode in bleach were they got a buget boost, the episode were the animation went from average to good. I was shocked when i saw the bits at the end of the most reasent ending credits. It looked so budget compared to the current stuff.
Poni Poni Dash (I think that's what its called). Someone did some homebrew rules for the characters and I wanted to see what the show was about. I watched one episode. Prior to that I can't remember what was the last thing I watched in regards to anime... maybe the second Patlabor movie.

Ah, yes, pani poni dash. My friends and I would watch it and try to get all the references to other anime and games.
Danboru Senki, Gundam + Megaman Battle Network. Really enjoying it so far.
Kamen Rider OOO, Its Toku rather then Anime. Nearing its finale, and getting better each week.
Pirate Sentai Gokaiger, Also Toku, lots of great cameos and throw backs to previous Sentai.. Power Rangers will butcher this series.
Was using Gundam as a means to describe Danboru Senki.
Thats not right...Thats not right at all.
Gundam is the mother of REAL ROBOT mecha anime.
Thats SUPER ROBOT anime.
Gundam is also a major toy commercial, and not all of the series are Real Robot style. Take G, Gunpla Builders, and the upcoming series as examples. Danboru Senki is a fantastic mix of Gundam Model Kits and wargaming, I'd love to see a Warhammer or WarmaHordes series done in this same style.
Just acquired Black Heaven, on good reviews. Heard it was sorta kinda like Macross 7, which I just finished and was not at all impressed with, but done right.
And continuing my kick with terrible series from great franchises, I just started ZZ Gundam last night, god help me.
Also been slowly working through High School of the Dead, but I'm having a hard time staying motivated with that one too.
DarkStarSabre wrote:Black Heaven is wonderful for how very surreal it can be.
I've got to ask, you know in the last but one episode, the whole Ms Yuki in the bunny outfit doing track & field training, is it me or did the writer go 'oh wait, this is an anime and needs some sort of gratuitous pervy scene!'
The ending was a bit of a suprise to me, I was kind of expecting it to rip into a massive uber-loud version of the Cautionary Warning riff, but then he does the new song he wrote instead. Kind of glad they left it open for a sequel though (despite it not materialising any time soon)...
Like I said...surreal. It's a remarkably adult anime as well so the bizarre oddity of the bunny outfit actually meshes rather well with the whole thing. I liked!
Don't watch anime - at least not regularly. Last one I saw was Gake no Ue no Ponyo.
I do, however, keep up with about a dozen or more different manga each week, as they come out. Some of them have animes, and a bulk of them should if they don't already.
remilia_scarlet wrote:Has anyone seen the sacred blacksmith?
I've read that manga. It's interesting, just wish it would update on a more regular basis.
Though the series I've read that wins hands-down in the "interesting" department is Highschool of the Dead. Great series, and supposed to be a really good anime, too. Just updates once every few months.
I picked up the first episode of Hellsing Ultimate recently, which was a blast. The dub is much better than the original audio, IMO, and I can't wait for the FLGS to get the next few episodes in stock.
I'll be picking up Highschool of the Dead when it comes out on the 17th. I watched some fansubbed episodes a while ago and I loved it! Gritty realism can go die in a couch-fire; I'm just fine with my gainaxing and DOUBLE TAP.
Cheese Elemental wrote:I picked up the first episode of Hellsing Ultimate recently, which was a blast. The dub is much better than the original audio, IMO, and I can't wait for the FLGS to get the next few episodes in stock.
HERESY, unless it's in German, German Alucard>all.
I recently watched, C: The Money of Soul and Possibility control.
It was alright. It had such a good start, but it ends in such a mess that its not even worth getting your hopes up for it.
I also recently watched the two Gurren Lagann compilation movies. The first one was alright. It had to gloss through most of the character introductions, but the battle at the end was cool. The second movie was great, but I was bit disappointed since they glossed over the battle of Tepplin right at the beginning. The rest of the movie is so good that the glossing over at the battle is easily forgotten.
i'm waching one piece at the moment, and in the gap between the episodes i started watching death note. in my opinion only the first 20 or so episodes of the latter anime are worth watching. one piece has been awesome from episode 1 to 500+
Love basilisk, berserk (the manga)and samurai champloo,
was watching Naruto and Bleach untill my little bro started to obsses over them then decided they were not for me.
For me i always seem to go back to the older stuff cyberpunk collection oedo 808 ad police etc etc oh and 3x3 eyes that series is my childhood
full metal panic (again) seasons 1 + 2. After that I'll watch Gundam 00 and either Blue Gender or maybe Goldenboy again. Seriously, Golden Boy is the funniest Anime I've ever seen.
Cheese Elemental wrote:Well, it's pretty much a given, isn't it? Who hasn't watched it?
Me too, hate it.

I just watched Shigurui: death frenzy, it was a little rough to watch but awesome, I'm halfway through Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I really liked the first one, but the new one blows it out of the water.
Warboss Gutrip wrote:Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood was glorious in every sense of the word.
My FMA had a dodgey disk... is Brotherhood an alternate ending to the original series? or an add on?
its pretty different as its based vary closely to the manga while the original wasent. well,i know its very different at lest, just heard it was closer to the manga.
Chibi Bodge-Battle wrote:There's an Anime about spreadsheets?
That is crazy!
Am watching Steins;Gate which has just gone Goroundhog Day in the last episode but in a darker way.
Yeah, it's a crazy anime.
I like steins;gate, but it's in the same boat as oreimo and shinryaku ikamusume, in that it'll most likely never be released in america, however, it is an amazing seires.
Recently, I've started watching Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I have to say I'm sad that I have spent so long before watching Brotherhood, because it is truly an amazing anime. It's so much better than the first Fullmetal Alchemist series they did.
Cheese Elemental wrote:Does anyone have a recommendation for an anime that A) isn't depressing at all and B) has a happy ending?
Well Azumanga Daioh is one, and while it does have few A) moments, School Rumble is also somewhat good choice.
Yea. If you let some of the humour ease out the bit more 'depressing' bits, theirs a lot out their. If you’re looking to get into anime, try starting with bleach. Full of funnies and well, hasn’t finished yet, but they did beat the big bad.
I'll second this, haha. Although it doesn't really have an ending yet because it's still ongoing.
Third. I love what they did. They made Vegeta sound more awesome. And Making fun of Krillin is awesome.. By far this is my most favorite episode of the Abridged Series.
All the voice actors are awesome and do it very well

Fourthed...
Vegeta: what are you doing Nappa? Kill him!
Nappa: But Vegeta, he said it was his turn...
Vegeta: Gah...*gurgles, nose bleeds*
Nappa: Something wrong Vegeta?
Vegeta: Nothing...just an...aneurism from pure...stupidity...
Nappa: Wow Vegeta, I didn't know you were that stupid...
Cheese Elemental wrote:Does anyone have a recommendation for an anime that A) isn't depressing at all and B) has a happy ending?
Project A-Ko is fun, ludicrous, and quite the opposite of depressing.
Wow, if that one doesn't bring me back...
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann pretty much defines epic feel-good ending for me, although the very end is a bit bittersweet. It has some darker moments throughout, too, so might not fulfill your requirements to a t, but it hasn't yet failed to get me excited to be alive when I finish the series.
Cheese Elemental wrote:Does anyone have a recommendation for an anime that A) isn't depressing at all and B) has a happy ending?
Lucky star
Disgaea
Spice and wolf
The only reason Spice and Wolf doesn't have a sad ending is because it isn't over yet. It's also got more depressing Fridge Logic (and not-so-Fridge logic) than you can shake TVTropes at. That being said, it's pretty awesome.
I'd personally recommend K-On! and K-On!! (read: season 2). So sweet it'll give you diabetes.
Hayao Miyazaki films are the only anime I can really enjoy. One of the first animes I saw was Princess Mononoke, it is hard to go from that to Bleach and the ilk.
If all animes were as funny as this I'd watch it more often...
...what is it?
Sergeant Frog my good friend...ever see Invader Zim? It’s like the Japanese version except its actually funny and less crack addicted...
Are you joking?
Go watch Dark Harvest. It's an episode of Zim stealing organs. Organs.
invader zim was awesome! I’ve never seen something be so smart yet so dumb!
Watch Yugioh the abridged series, specifically the evil council of doom specials. Stupid evil genius's.
dude, thats an awesome series! i need to catch up on it though.....
Yes, yes it is. If you could by it on dvd I would have, just to take it around and watch it, but i have to make do with the whole lot on my pendrive.
Since I got broudband back, I downloaded Evangeilon 2.22.
I was very good but I had to stop heaps when my little sisters kept coming in to talk to me. Cute but annoying.
Sorry if this seems off topic but, i wanted to see what all the fuss with anime was about and i was wondering what anime would you recommend i should watch, i watched a few episodes of bleach in the past and enjoyed that, so what would you recommend someone new to anime to watch?

That's really a question like "what TV shows should I watch?" Really, what are you interested in? Because anime is just as diverse as television with all sorts of genres, styles, and timeframes. I do recommend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (avoid the first series, just titled Fullmetal Alchemist), Death Note is a great series, and the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a fun watch for a bit of campiness and mindfething.
Bagi80 wrote:Sorry if this seems off topic but, i wanted to see what all the fuss with anime was about and i was wondering what anime would you recommend i should watch, i watched a few episodes of bleach in the past and enjoyed that, so what would you recommend someone new to anime to watch?
If you watched Bleach and you enjoyed it I don't see why you shouldn't just watch Bleach. That's a good place to start. If you enjoyed Bleach you might enjoy all the other Shonen Jump shows like One Piece or Naruto. Most Shonen Jump shows have a formula to how they work and usually contain the same characters (Personality wise). Each has their own style, but the very core of a Shonen Jump show is always the same.
Quite a few Anime stories have rubbish and rather contrived endings.
Even if your life is hanging by a single thread and the bad dude is even more powerful than ever before, the mere thought of friends is enough to make you kick his butt.
I enjoyed it a lot. It was funny, it was serious, and I cared about the characters. I recommend it to everyone.
Phantom: Requiem for a Phantom:
I watched it because I wanted to know what happens next. It was very disappointing. They could have done some cool things with the series, but they didn't.
Eden of the East:
HOLYGAFARGLEOMGWTFBBQAWSOMESAUCE!
Good GOD is this show good. It is a great thriller, a great plot and my only complaint is that it is too short.

Fate/stay night is pretty good, gurren lagann, kiddy grade is a good space cop anime, excel saga, gundam wing is a classic, so is berserk.

No clue how shipping is, but if you don't mind buying used I've gotten some awesome deals off of the Amazon.com marketplace and through half.com (an ebay site a lot like the amazon marketplace). Most recent one was picking up Outlaw Star for about $20 shipped. That was a good series too.
So yeah, everyone should watched Outlaw Star if they haven't.
Ponyo is an adorable movie. Beware of extraordinary cuteness. I wouldn't say it's Miyazaki's best (I hold a special place in my heart for Castle in the Sky, myself) but it was a decent movie.
Sounds interesting, I just started karin, it's about this vampire girl who, instead of sucking blood, gives it, and gets nosebleeds when she's embarassed.

Bought the first K-on! DVD yesterday. I love me a heartwarming slice-of-life anime. The dub is crap though.
Highschool of the Dead was excellent. Fanservice, well-designed zombies, great characterisation, good writing, and a top-notch dub make it a definite winner in my opinion.

We had a game of zombies at a church, that the HotD theme was the first song on my playlist for the night. Good times. The OVA is stupid though. Funny and worth my time, but stupid...
It's best watched with English Dub (the dubbing is hilarious) and the English Subtitles going at the same time, just because they often are quite different. Makes for a more fulfilling experience.
"Christ, you fething bastard I'll get you!" is what he says outloud.
The last time I watched some anime, I found my box with some old ass tapes in it and so had a small marathon.
Akira (anime or no, awesome flick)
Ninja Scrolls
Legend of......something. It was a fantasy type movie where there was this giant snake wall that separated the gods from normal folk. And some people on the other side of the wall could change into animals and such. Bah I cant remember
And finally the Record of Lodoss War, all but like episode 2 or 3. That one came up missing many years ago and Ive no idea what happened to it.
So it was a day of enjoyment. Or something anyways

Ponyo was pretty darn good. Caught it on HBO with a bunch of friends before the Game of Thrones premier. We postulated that since Liam Neeson voiced the dad that Ponyo was really just an animated sequel to Taken.

I think nis best is My Neighbor Totoro, simply because it is an interesting movie with... no plot!
And the first time I saw it, I was in Japan, watching it in Japanese. Was having someone explain to me what was going on.
Morathi's Darkest Sin wrote:Ponyo is a great film, up there with Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and Howl's Moving Castle as one of Ghibli's best imo.
Spirited Away made me afraid of gaining weight. The pig scene still scares the out of me.
Well, klimino, it's about this group of highschoolers who die, and are basically in limbo, and they're fighting this angel that wants to make them pass on to the next life.

whaaa? umm...that is just...epic id fight death to if given the chance.heck,id try to kill the angel or force it to make me alive again
The latest animes I watched were Outlaw Star and Trigun I believe. I am a big fan of Excel Saga and usually slip in a few episodes of that when I am feeling down.
Yeah that sums up Angel Cop pretty well. Come to think of it, it also was most of the dialogue of the thing other then the mind rape scene and the sequences with the little girl, which were also disturbing in their own way.
IF you get down to it, most of what was removed was a few sub plots, some establishing shots, and most of the violence. (Yes, this series was about four hours of people getting their bodies mashed in very Ninja Scroll ways. Sometimes more then once)
Chibi- I'm sure someone else can explain in more detail, but from what I understand the original series had some major departures from the manga in the latter part of the series, which a lot of people didn't like. Brotherhood, to my knowledge, is a remake that more closely follows the source material.
Chibi Bodge-Battle wrote:Would someone be so kind to tell me what the difference is between Full Metal Alchemist, and the 2009 Full Metal Brotherhood please?
Have just started watching the latter and at episode3, so far it has been an abridged version of the earlier one.
Also which is the intervening film please?
I admit I also don't know too much (having never read the manga) but Brotherhood essentially follows the direction the manga took, whereas the first series went off in a totally different direction. The biggest difference I've seen (other than the story) is that Brotherhood "cuts out all the bull- " as my friend puts it. There's really no filler or extraneous episodes that don't contribute to the plot like the first one had. Plus, the characters are a LOT more powerful than in the first series (Al actually gets the same ability Edward does, being able to transmute without a circle - and they touch on what, exactly, the boys saw beyond the gate).
The movie is called Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa, and is a sequel to the original series. It's actually a really touching movie, especially at the end.
Just finished watching Bubblegum Crisis 2040 for about the millionth time. Recently though have watched Hellsing, Cowboy bebop, Gantz, some Code Geass. I have Appleseed and Deathnote sitting on a shelf begging to be watched next.

Meh. Better that then Goth or...brrrr.... Punk.
You can see people dressed like that at any anime convention. There's one who visits the costume shop, and buys our odd colored wigs, and whatever little anime trinkets we have.
Back OT, I rewatched samurai champloo, and enjoyed it.
I do not watch a whole lot of anime so I decided to talk with a few others that I know who have either watched some in the past or who still watches them regularly. Recently, all I have seen is:
Macross Plus OVA (which was actually pretty good)
Ruroni Kenshin Series (up to Epsiode 17 currently)
Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal
I have watched a few older animes way back when but I do not remember who/what they were.
I dont know if this counts but i saw Samurai Jack recently, man ill NEVER grow up when it comes to Samurai Jack! I also checked about castle in the sky, it was amazing!
After not having seen any Manga/Anime for some years I recently watched the latest Vampire Hunter D movie (Bloodlust). Have to say I was pleasantly surprised, I loved the first one as a youngster and this was one of the better recent offerings. Some good characters and action scenes without going too OTT as a few of the newer Manga seem to, even though it followed some of the plot elements of Ninja Scroll quite closely (although that in itself is no bad thing! )
Another one I just started re-watching is Ouran High School Host Club. A great high school romance/comedy story with some hilarious moments, and a surprisingly epic finale. It's on Netflix, in English, but I do recommend watching it in the original Japanese if you can. The voice acting in the English version is so-so at best, though Vic Mignogna as Tamaki was fantastic.
I may have weighed in on Ouran earlier in the thread, but I definitely agree. Very feel-good anime. It brought me out of my funk from watching School Days.

It did that for me when I watched the ending of air.

been watching soul eater as I wait for more bleach English dubs to come out. started watching "guyver the bioboosted armour" and was pretty dissapoint. it had potential the monster/mutant things just looked so static.
I think the last anime I watched was gantz which was pretty meh. Green onion aliens are not a good concept
Was that the original animated Guyver series DPBellathrom or the newer one? I thought the original had a pretty good design aesthetic to it, a few sequences in it were absolutely awesome, I never understood why they didn't finish it properly.
Recently finished watching Azumanga Daioh, very enjoyable. Now re-watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood after introducing my friend to it - pleased to say he thought it was bloody awesome. I'd say it's my second favourite anime of all time, after Ghost in the Shell.

I found it when I googled anime fan for a MFW image.
Currently keeping up with the new episodes of Bleach and Blood-C. Catch occasional episodes of Gad Guard on Hulu, though I've not watched any in a bit, and am rewatching Soul Eater, almost thru that show again.
Oh, and the story differences in Full Metal and Brotherhood is that the first was made when the manga was still being put out, and had some filler episodes, then when they caught up with the manga instead of doing filler arcs like other shows do they just kept making episodes and wrote their own ending. Brotherhood was made when the manga was finished or nearly so, and cuts out all the filler and alternate stuff. It has a Much more epic ending than the first one and I while I like the first one I would recommend Brotherhood as the stronger series.
Where's the serious, plot driven anime with well rounded characters? I keep hoping to find another Ghost in the Shell, but everything is either over the top comical or cute, lacks a decent story/writing, has shallow obnoxious characters (typically under 18), and excessive fan service.
Carried by the Wind: Tsukikage Ran was the last really good anime I've seen.
Amaya wrote:Where's the serious, plot driven anime with well rounded characters? I keep hoping to find another Ghost in the Shell, but everything is either over the top comical or cute, lacks a decent story/writing, has shallow obnoxious characters (typically under 18), and excessive fan service.
You really aren't going to find anything quite like Ghost in the Shell. You are having the same problem I have with anime at the moment. If you haven't already seen them I'd recommend some of the older Gundam shows or Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Galactic Heroes is more character driven though.
Watching Tiger and Bunny, can't wait for the last episode.
I also just re watched the original Patlabor OVA the other night. It still surprises me how different episodes 5 and 6 are from the rest, but they really do set the tone for the movies.
Amaya wrote:Where's the serious, plot driven anime with well rounded characters? I keep hoping to find another Ghost in the Shell, but everything is either over the top comical or cute, lacks a decent story/writing, has shallow obnoxious characters (typically under 18), and excessive fan service.
Appleseed is fairly good, also by Shirow. However, it varies a lot (original OVA from the 90's, modern movies, modern OVA all have the same characters, and are not quite reboots, but...)
Witchhunter Robin might be up your alley. Bubblegum Crisis 2040 has quite bit of fanservicyness, so maybe not, though all the characters are horribly flawed in their own ways. Read or Die (TV series) starts off somewhat silly, but slowly works it's way into serious (or possibly nightmareish, if you stop and think about some of the things that these people have had done to them, it's one of the few times I've seen angst justified.) as things go along, however, does contain fanservice and two child characters (one who's occasionally more mature than the adults...). Pandora Hearts has it's silly moments early on, and involves kids and a monster of the week format (at least in the anime, which only covers the early, sillier, parts of the manga), but the over arching plot, particularly if they continue it following the manga, is actually quite dark. As in VERY dark. The humor bleeds out (along with several characters) as things go along and it gets more and more grimdark. I have the feeling this one is heading toward 'Everyone Dies' as an ending...
It's hard to find serious, plot driven, and low to no fanservice, since even Ghost in the Shell does not qualify there...
Oh, and watch the Read Or Die movie before you watch the tv series, even if they don't appear related. Some of the stuff that happens later will make more sense that way.
Just got the last episode of Cowboy Bepop to watch. Am kind of sad it has come to a final episode Has been a very good series and likewise wondering why I haven't seen it sooner
Macross Frontier. I'm a sucker for piloted mecha ever since I saw Lensman back in 6th grade. Then got back into it when Macross Pluss was released back in the mid 90's here.

'Nadia' was pretty strightforward, as were 'This Ugly & Beautiful World' and 'Mahoromatic'.. though those last two should have had their endings switched.
chrisyella wrote:Fooly Cooly... been a couple of days and I'm still confused by it

Nah not all of their animes are confusing. Gunbuster and Gurren Lagann were pretty straightforward. Panty and Stocking wasn't confusing either, but rather quite hilarious. I've noticed that they put out a lot of anime that is very distinct and almost every show they've made (almost) has been considered a great anime by many anime fans.

Macross Frontier is amazing and if you get a chance watch the movies. I've only seen the 1st Macross Frontier movie, but it was awesome. It changes the story, while still being great. Its a shame Macross Zero didn't follow in the footsteps of Macross Plus.
Pokemon: The First Movie. Does it even count? Other than watching that in theaters ~12 years ago or so, I have never watched an anime. Srsly. I didn't even watch the Pokemon show or the following movies. I have recently thought about watching some animes though, seeing how Netflix has quite a few that you can watch instantly. Was thinking of trying out full metal alchemist. Any recommendations for an anime noobie? I should also mention that my favorite cartoon OF ALL TIME is Avatar: The Last Airbender.

I definitely recommend looking into Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (not the original Fullmetal Alchemist, as it sucked compared to this one). Death Note is good if you're into psychological thrillers, and Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is that, with mechs. I strongly recommend looking into both Cowboy Bebop and Trigun - the former is an absolute classic of anime, and the latter is a fantastic cowboy/gunslinger anime. And a really good high school romantic comedy (the genre is actually really popular in animedom) I'd look into Ouran High School Host Club, as well as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (which has a really neat sci-fi/fantasy plot running through the series).
I tried to watch both Excel and Mermaid Bride but both were over the top screaming and trying too hard to be weird for my tastes.
Then I tried Chobits and that was too creepy for me. A guy with a preteen looking female robot? Plus the melodrama was too much.
Then to my chagrin I watched Sekirei and liked it quite a bit. Even though it's a fan service anime with lots of bare skin. I figure it'll be the same thing over and over again, so 3 episodes might be all I like.

I found it so funny I died and came back to life to watch some more

Other than watching that in theaters ~12 years ago or so, I have never watched an anime. Srsly. I didn't even watch the Pokemon show or the following movies.
I have recently thought about watching some animes though, seeing how Netflix has quite a few that you can watch instantly. Was thinking of trying out full metal alchemist. Any recommendations for an anime noobie?
I should also mention that my favorite cartoon OF ALL TIME is Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is my favorite anime of all time, I recommend it to you, as well as Bleach, (it's still going) and death note

Agreed on all accounts.
I am currently re-watching FMA: Brotherhood for about the seventh time, and it's still the best thing ever.
Mustang burning the crap out of Envy was a moment of brilliance unparalleled by other anime...

Way to go! Really great series, gotta love Tsubaki...
Have you seen Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? A bit perverted, but very funny, and I think it would appeal to you greatly based on your previous taste. The OVA in particular was a complete riot!
Have you changed your avatar especially for your post about Zombie Desu Ka, Not U?
What do you mean by plot armour please? not heard the expression before.

Can't remember if anyone has mentioned Deadman Wonderland Apologies if it has been
Plot armour is when the protagonist is favored by the story line, as in no matter what he cannot fail or die. Even if they screw up they will end up succeeding in the end. Obviously necessary for a story to progress, but it's generally when it is excessive and entirely defies logic.
Basically look at all the Gundam series for examples. Though most are still good.
Yeah, definitely keep watching. Mami had a pretty starkly brutal end, but it just gets more and more messed up from there. I quite enjoyed the series as a whole.

I finished it...
I'm really impressed; definitely didn't continue with the impression the first 5 mins of the series gives...
For me, the best thing about the series was the style in which it was drawn; whilst the character's heads felt a little 'off', the "Witches Realm" was always amazing. Very solid series, even if it's only 13 episodes, definitely worth a watch.
Is Magica on Hulu or where did you catch it? Just finished rewatching Soul Eater and could use a new series to jump into and this one sounds interesting. I always like seeing different and cool artistic styles.
I honestly simply have not watched enough anime(or, really, any at all) recently, so the last shows I actually watched a fair amount of:
1) Code Geass
Really loved it, even if it does get a bit of a "super-hero" attitude about it, the characters are real and gritty, especially Lelouch, and act like real people in gakky situations. Love it.
2) Neon Genesis Evangelion
It's a bit repetitive, as in most of the episodes are structured the same way, but once you get past that, the storyline is great. Rei Ayanami is the coolest character, just saying.
3) Bleach(I think?)
This show is really hyped up, I watched 10-15 episodes(I forget, it was a while ago). To be honest, I was pretty bored.
I tried Ghost in the Shell, and just couldn't really get into it, though I only watched the first episode. I also tried Eden of the East... Does that get better later? Because the first episode was good-ish, but the animation style was pretty meh, and the characters seemed pretty predictable.
