i'm quite enjoying season 2 so fa, though I'm pretty sure they have bathed every episode. literally. but hey, i ain't complaining. yet, anyway.
Grey Templar wrote: Sooooo it is a remake? because thats what Brotherhood was, essentially.
Not really, a remake would be the same story. FMA brotherhood only has 10 episodes that coincide with the original.
So I should or should not watch Helsing first and then watch Ultimate?
Some places are listing Ultimate as an OVA. But that seems to not be the case.
You don't have to watch them in any order. Helsing TV has been declared non-canon by the creator however. I have both, and I like both. What matters is you eventually watch the Team Four Star abridged version.
In other weeb news...
I got my first heavy crusier in KanColle! Kako!
New anime: My Heavy Cruiser Can't Possible Be This Cute.

If you watch them both, probably watch the original first, just so you don't have to deal with the animation downgrade. And Ultimate was an OVA series, the releases were very spread out.
Right, so first things first: Eden of the East is an absolute amazing anime, very different from the usual. The whole intriguing plot, the characters all are older than the usual, the investigation the author did, hell, the motto "Noblesse Oblige", which I completely did not know about is a beautiful one and I really like it's meaning. The funny moments it had were welcome and pretty good and well-thought, this really is one heck of a good anime. It felt short, but I guess that's why there are movies!
I've been slowly watching this last season's Chaika and I'm enjoying it a lot: Since the whole plot is pretty much the same like the S1's but with some extra revelations and details, there's no down time, all episodes seem to be "GO GO GO".
EDIT: Ok, Log Horizon returned WITH A BANG. This episode was class A of Awesome, one of the best LH episodes yet. It had action, it had humor, it had a bit of love, it had Dragons, it had blatant references, it had "PLOT", it had Tifa, DAMN!
Now, I'm going a bit off-topic. First, I'm proud of these bastards so I'm sharing them
Second, since we were sharing our anime fan stuff, here's mine. As I took pictures of the terminators I decided to take some of my little slice of heaven, also know as "Room". This is what happens when you collect stuff since you can remember, the Power Rangers stuff is probably 20 years old and in almost mint condition. Even the original stickers are decent enough.
Now let's play a game:
- Try counting how many Rei's
- Try counting how many Dragons
I think the I liked strike witchs. It most definitely has not shifted my top five, but I decided to list all of the anime i have watched in order of preference.
1. Fullmetal alchemist brothehood.
2. spice and wolf/steins;gate. I just can;t decide between the two.
3. The devil is a part timer.
4. fullmetal alchemist orginal (I'd pretend it doesn't exist but it does, and though the ending was terrible, it introdused me to brotherhood.
5. sword art online.
6.Strike witches.
7. ouran high host club.
8. samurai champloo.
9. vampire knight.
10. yugioh classic (sentimental value)
11. naruto.
12. fruits basket.
13. actually I think that's all of the anime I've wat- WAIT! Pokemon which I haven;t watched since I was little at the beggining of the shino part.
14. highschoo of the dead.
15. ok that's it. probably.
My anime figures take up a good portion of my office. My twin lives in Japan and sends me monthly boxes stuffed full of figures. Lots of Dragonball, DBZ, SAO, AoT, Evangelion, Baka and test, One piece. I have an awesome Twin

Of course one of us has to be. Although he did send me a joke Christmas present FULL of japanese porn and asked for me to wait till Christmas to open it(I not knowing the contents at all)...I waited til Christmas as requested, only to open it at my family get-together with everyone else opening presents. It was an awkward Christmas lunch after that. He got me good.

AduroT wrote: Is that frog ninja a reference I should know? Kinda seemed like an odd reference to Tmnt.
I was wondering about that too.
Considering he shouted COWABUNGA, no, I have no doubt in my mind. He's even called LEONARDO ffs He dual wields swords. I can only guess it's to avoid copyright problems, HELL, remember "Do you require any healing?" / "No, I just want to eat Pizza." I was in such a fangirl mode with that character.
I liked that cirst new episode of Aldnoah, but it feels a little disappointing or cheap that every who was executed at the end of the last season mananged to survive.
Disappointment doesn't begin to describe it, such premise at the end of rather dull first season! I guess only in anime bullets applied to the head don't kill. Ah well, at least Tokyo Ghoul put on the show.
Not really disappointed at the characters being still being alive. I knew it was going to be the case that they weren't dead, and their executions weren't done very well to justify them dying anyways. It still doesn't make any sense that Slaine would shoot Inaho. I can see his justification for joining up with Saazbaum though. He's that obsessed with the princess that in order to keep her alive he partnered up with that horrible villain just for the chance to keep her alive. He's even fighting for him now, which seems a little odd considering it would be directly against the Princess' wishes. I'm looking forward to what happens next though!

Spoiler:
I'm not sure what anyone would have expected. No way they could have gone through with it. Assuming the deaths held the only thing left the series could do is maybe have Slaine furiously masturbate to old pictures of the princess every episode.
I watched the first episode of the second season, and it kind of landed on me with all the impact of a cold wet rag. The show killed any good will it had with me last season and it did little to generate any here. I'll give it three episodes like I do with everything I guess. It's seriously still looking to be not worth my time at this point though.
I really just wish they had gone with some kind martian-knight-of-the-week formula and stuck to what they were doing in the first few episodes. I think that would have been fairly engaging. Oh well.
Welp, finished Chaika S2. I too felt the ending was a wee bit too rushed, no major fight against the final boss, but I loved it anyway
Spoiler:
For a moment I was worried I wouldn't have my happy end, but it was better than I expected with the Red Chaika kicking the door down and Akari writing that romance novel oh Akari, you were a barrel of laughs from the start right till the very end
I just watched through Deadman Wonderland, that was pretty neat, though it seemed all set up for another season and it doesn't look like that'll happen :(

You never know. Durarara!! S2 starts today (I think) which means it took nearly 4 years.
I give you all my hugs for using Nitori's channel Like and subscribe for he is an awesome person for sharing so many Touhou / KanColle arranges
Just in case someone is wondering about WTF is up with a guy with a T for an head:
The admiral from Kantai Collection, depicted with a capital "T" for the head, similar to the P-head producer seen in Idolmaster art. The "T" is derived from the Japanese word 提督 (teitoku), meaning admiral.
EDIT LADIES AND GENTLEMAN! THIS is the opening of "Death Parade"! It's one of the coolest, happiest, energetic, funniest and most awesome ops I have ever seen. I dare say it can rival Carnival Phatasm's one. The music is fething top notch to boot.
And what is the anime? It's the anime version of SAW that's what! But with no gore. All it was missing was a puppet asking if they wanted to play a game. Oh, but a game they did play alright. STAKING THEIR LIVES
Pyschological and damn good, I was not expecting this intensity. My anxiety was through the roof, and this was episode 1
PS: DURARARA!!x2 is so fething good, all I can say is that I missed this gem so damn much IT'S BACK, BABY!! Same Voice Actors, too <3
Maria the Virgin Witch is, so far, a solid watch from this season that I haven't seen yet mentioned in this thread.
I am considering doing a Teitoku cosplay in undress khakis utilizing a mix of Russian shoulder boards, and a reproduction IJN soft cover. I'd be moving on it already... but money's scarce right now.

Okay. I am completely confused as to what the theming is on those... Mahou Shonen? It looks like Heart, Water, Luck, Saturn and Fire? wtf? Unless Luck is supposed to be air and Saturn is Earth somehow... and with Saturn's having that gold shower thing, I'm getting a strong leprechaun vibe off them.
Curious about it, though. From how they seem to be getting 'sucked into' the transformation sequence, I'm wondering if it's going to have SheZow-like Reluctant Crossdressing Hero tropes in it.
I display my approval of female humans with mechanical ballistic weapons attached to their bodies. AND BEWBIEZ!
anyways, I think I might watch death note, need some edgy killings and empowered insanity to repair myself after the thingy thing that was strike witches.
High school libraries have the oddest manga collections.
I remember mine had one that was called... Camelot High, I think? It was actually a western comic, though, basically 'King Arthur's Court gets reincarnated as 'average high school students' with Arthur as the QB, Lancelot as his bestie, yadda yadda... Except apparently Arthur's okay with Lance hooking up with Gwen, and instead is going after the main character, who's apparently the incarnation of the Lady of the Lake, and has Excalibur inside her.
I hasn't been a big anime person. I've really only watched dragon ball z and cowboy bebop as far as shows go. Akira and record of lodoss war and a small number of ninja movies. My nephew got me to watch sword art online and I'm digging it, I also stated death note as all, because I've heard it was really good. So far I'm enjoying both shows.
Just finished watching Soul Eater. Liked it, but had a small issue with the final episode
Spoiler:
The whole Maka being both a meister/weapon special snowflake undermines the “using the bravery inside us all” to defeat the madness. I think the final showdown would have been stronger without it.
death note complete. BTW, this my buddies is interesting and anyone who watched ME!ME!ME! should click this link: (note: semi-safe for work.)

Really? Cause I hate the whole friendship is magic/believe in yourself nonsense trope in just about every anime out there. I loved the ending of Soul Eater.

As is the Chosen one/only the Hero is the special snowflake/unique combination of powers trope. I just felt a little heavy handed from left field. Still liked it.
Right, on my way back home saw Aldnoah.Zero Ep 10.
Tomorrow ep 11 and 12.
Friday morning on my way to work I hope to make a fool of myself because of the bitch-slap that made this forum explode like it was an episode of KLK
Pretty damn good so far. Like I said, I prefer the awesome mech fights without bloodshed from Gundam Fighters, but I can't deny how much I enjoy watching an Orbital Knight dying.
Soladrin wrote: Wait... you like Mechs without bloodshed.... You disgust me more every day!
Unless said "mechs" go berserk and eat their opponent.
I know, I know, it's strange how much I'm a fanboy of the 40k universe yet I prefer my mech fights without bloodshed. Ok, HUMAN bloodshed.
I loved Knights of Cydonia, it had plenty of bloodshed, I just don't like to see massive mech wars between humans. Yes, I never played MechWarrior or BattleTech.

Yeah, I felt that was uncalled for. It just came out of no where, and left me scratching my head. It's as if they tried to shove everything they could into the finale.

That too. So basically, either way I'll dislike the ending
Old news is pretty old, but just in case someone hasn't seen the whole of ME!ME!ME! (like me...)
FMA is still Good, Brotherhood is just Better. I'd still say watch both, and due to how filler/lack there of is handled, you definitely want to watch FMA before you watch Brotherhood.
Does anyone know if there's ever been a GOOD battletech Anime? I thought for sure there had been a proper anime and not just that one lame TV show from the 90s?
I like battletech over Gundam because Battletech mechs are actually realistic and practical. Not that I don't like Gundam, I just like the realistic mechs of battletech
AduroT wrote: Oh dammit. The Naruto filler is introducing several different characters. This stupid detour from the main story is going to drag on for awhile.
To be fair, as one of those mainline money-printers. "Is going to drag on for a while" could probably describe every part of it.

Battletech only had one official anime. if you want some kind of compromise, try watching macross. You might recognize some of the old unseen mechs like the wasp and the phoenix hawk and the marauder.

Ahahahaha!! "Realistic mechs". HAHA you amuse me.
But yeah, I think you might be thinking of Macross rather than Battletech, if you're thinking of 'That one 90's anime'. Macross was one of those chop'n'crop multi-show mashup redub jobs that 'Murica producers thought were better or more kid friendly than the originals. It used Robotech and a couple others in it, so you could maybe look at any of the originals they had.

you could try looking up the artwork for current mech anime to see if any suit your taste more. Like Break Blade had some pretty unique mech designs.
Right, so I went through the 5 stages of grief thanks to Aldnoah.Zero's episode 12. Tears welled up on my eyes and reminded me why I hate war plots. Ya know, when you-know-who gets shot.
Denial: "NO! NOOO! NOT ***! IT CAN'T BE"
Anger: "feth this anime! feth this plot! feth sake!"
Bargaining: "Maybe *** didn't die. Maybe they are fooling me. *** couldn't die like that, no, not someone like ***, I bet ***is gonna return next ep"
Depression : "...."
Actually, "Acceptance" is still missing . Ok, this was only ep 12, tomorrow morning I hope to get EVEN MORE shocked with the final ep. so I can start watching this season.

Sinçe I've already read the manga I actually like this filler. More Chunin exams!

If by final ep, you mean ep 13 then that is already S2 (ep 12 was the last ep of the 1st season). Sooooo good.
Couldn't agree more. i'm enjoying all the light-hearted fun, reminds me more and more of GuP and that's such a good thing.
And yay! Shimakaze had a wee bit of screen-time God-Emprah above, that loli is just glorious
It's funny, a while ago I would have found this just a bit creepy, now, not so much. It's a drawing.
About damn time someone sees the light!

AH! That explains it! I download all the eps I was missing and it said ep13 so I thought it was all S1. In that case, yes, truly the ending of A.Z was "Code Geass" all over again!
ooh, you shouldn't have said that draconic, now you've given me an excuse to quote my edgy side. "To see the light, one must first see the abyss". silly draconic, you shouldn't give fake-moody teenagers excuses to quote their moody-edgy side.
also, by the abyss, I mean what happens when you type anything to do with ainme into google and click the wrong link and suddenly...bamn!
Oh that's rather unfortunate. Has to make you laugh though that it must be one of the only topics in off-topic closed for length instead of for argument.
I just watched the latest episode of 'parasyte: the maxim' and it's really good. There hasn't been any fighting for a while but it's good. Plenty of morality and philosophy being thrown into the show. It's infinitely better than any harem anime. I mean i'm a pervert but anime these days seems to be made for people that are infinitely bigger closet perverts than me. No offense intended ;P.
