Thanks guys, good ideas! the pipes are where the tile would sit so the recess is only a few mil, I did originally want to have the floors with space under to run pipes and gubbins but trying to factor in cost for a board and ease of working etc. I decided to go with the wood tiles and see if i can get the appearance of depth with the pipes like i'm working on :-) I will certainly put some scattered near by! that's a great idea and will look sweet!
Ghosted litany on a candy red Flesh eater Helmet! omg! perfectly brilliant :-)
Got all of Gits Grots finished today! but I didn't have time to take pics yet :-( sorry guys! but tomorrow it means i can take some and you can see them tomorrow night eh! there's one or two or three I really like so i might take a couple of individual shots of those ones and hide the crappy ones at the back of the group shot lol!
and on a side note! Eggroll!!!! you're back dude! great to see you :-) we;ve missed you!
wow, I go away for a few days and you get busy! I like the Techmarine, though the new ones with all of the arms seem a bit unwieldy to me.
The expression on the face of Lemartes is amazing! Can you remind me where you picked up those heads? (Thanks!)
I am really looking forward to seeing how you do with tht new ZM piece, I have a bunch of cardboard, foamcore and plastic sheetstock I am sitting on, waiting for inspiration...
ZM looking cool, only part that I can't stop seeing is the jigsaw style fit on the board tiles, shame you couldn't have that hidden some how - maybe under riveted strips?
Helmet is way cool - must have been cold though as there is serious nipple action going on

thanks dude, the heads are a bare head from the new Night Lords squad for Dante, and the Chaplain one is from the Sons of Horus legion Command kit I got mine from ebay, I hope they'll be able to team up on the ZM on day!

I know, the jigsaw fit isn't great for everyone, but it does have the advantage of being very easy to assemble so everything's fitting together well! I'm thinking paint will stop it being so visable or i'll have enough going on for it not to bother the eye.
it IS a cool helmet! and nope it wasn't cold unfortunate legacy of having large bolts through my nipples years ago!
Well, I did promise you some pics today and I don't like to let anyone down so here finally is the finished Ork Runtherd and friends such a great little squad (literally!) some fun sculpts and they look great all together, I do have some favorites ..... nearly all of them
and I believe it was the great Gitsplitta who made the comment that there was never enough Chain Axe's in 40k! so I fixed that by finishing the assembly of my Vanguard squad!
first up here's the Ork work:
and my fave part, a few shots of some individuals although i do need to say that after i took the pics I noticed that 'Goggles' didn't have his goggle strap done (dammit ) but it's fixed now andlooks good...trust me
and those Chain Axe's look brutal, kind of makes me want to re do all my assault marines but I won't i'll just have to use the Vannies in a game!
and that's it for another week hope you like 'em guys (especially Gits as they're yours!)
I was bumping for support now I comment out out of truth. My best friends bachelor party is now and I'm jealous of your bad assery with the brush! Amazing grots,....

Thanks! It's good to be back and painting again. Looks like you and Gits have been busy while I was away...got lots of catching up to and both of your have improved considerably. Looking forward to seeing great stuff from the both of you this year
Grots look great by the way, love the paintjob and the models...they just have so much character!
Holy moly Damo how do you have time for life with as much quality painting you pump out? And now you need the rest of that armor to complete the helmet you've got. Total bad ass right there
mate the helmet looks fantastic. great action photo too.
the grots though - that's the money! i love em. so much character mate. great blending but more importantly a great selection of colours. i think my favorite is the bandito guy with two hand guns.
The Grots look great, Damo. The assault marines/Vanguard models look the part as well. Getting ready for their descent into full-bodied Khrne worship...

Glad you like them, and that skin is easy man, easy! mind it's easier on bigger Orks!

Love those chain axes... rip your heart out man. Why mess with a sword when you can have a mass weapon? Swords are for panzy elves.
Phew! again I'm pleased they passed muster! and I am now a massive fan of Chain Axes after getting my grubby fingers on them! they look so nasty!

I think we just stumbled on the new 3rd prize photo for your next comp
Bit late to the party here ( been lurking) , but thought I would add, I am on my 4th set of these grots, they are just the most wonderful little guys. And several are ripe for conversion. You again have done amazing work on them though, I have been feebley trying to emulate your tones, (I am still at it though.)

Oh and totally with King.....definately the next 3rd prize right there.

Alright, I will indeed do a tute on how I do the Ork skin for you :-) how's Friday sound? and how would you like it? pics of the paint colours and step by step mixing or a few progress pics and words to copy paste? I'm sure I've some Orks by Mantic or even a spare jet pilot head at home :-)
Got some pics for you today! hope you like what i managed to get done considering how bloody quickly my paint kept drying on my palette I don't think i did too badly mind you I really only got one model finished, the Guardsman for Bebopdrums painting comp, but I assembled, primed base coated, salt weathered (for the first time) 3 Killa Kans for Gits and finished assembling my lemartes conversion which looks good now after I cut and re positioned his arms again so he looks a little more dynamic!
well, first things first eh! lets have a look at the Guardsman, I wanted to give him the visage of a Penal legion trooper, condemned and in worn or second hand armour and jumpsuit, and i did try eyes too, I won't make a habit of it but I found if you want to give them an iris colour you still paint the black 'pupil' first and then the colour in the middle of that instead of the other way around in real lfe, it's a bit hard to see in the pics but trust me it's there
Well after that I sat back and wanted to fix my Lemartes conversion so I chopped his wrists and just moved them slightly so he looks cooler, not much to see yet but does he 'flow' well enough now? !
and now onto Gits Kans *Snicker...* I didn't expect to get this far with them today, I just wanted to assemble them so i can get stuck into them for painting next time, what i managed to do was assemble them, then prime and base coat the rusty look,I usually get my mask fluid onto things like this but I was out!! what to do! ........... Oh Salt weathering from the FW books of course! first time trying it lets hope it works guys! i've re primed over it and it's stayed so far
here's the Kans assembled and primed brown, then overbrushed with metals and orange rust.
Then a bunch of hairspray (thanks Nerdwench!) and a liberal sprinkle of rough salt.
then once dry, I primed again with desert brown and used the airbrush to give them a squirt of yellow to highlight and darkened it from below for some shading, I think they look pretty cool I'll do the same techniques I used on the Deff Dread so they all match in together hope you likey likey!
There we go for another day! hope you aren't all frozen or melted depending from whence you hail! catch you soon i'm off to have a refreshing beverage and watch a movie!
My Lovely Bride got an airbrush setup for me for Christmas, but it was missing an adapter for attaching the hose to the actual tool... grrrrrr... waiting for it to arrive in the mail is making me nuts. After using brushes to do the salt/hairspray technique I am looking forward to doing it this way.
dsteingass wrote: The Guardsman's ammo pouch has a stray orange brush stroke though - sorry dude
Pretty sure it's OSL from the red button
Pretty sure it is osl from the button lol also pretty sure I need to work on that if it looks like a brush stroke!
thanks guys about the Guardsman and Kans! I 'could' paint all the salt as rocks! but i'm sure it will look better if i do it normally but it does seem pretty sturdy, perhaps other uses for the salt in the future?
Guardsman was fun to paint for the comp, tight deadline, limited palette still trying to do something different to my own and something that I thought looked cool and told a story looking through the entries so far it's gonna be a wicked tight comp! there's some truly great and adventurous entrants popping up and all of them are inspiring and creative, I don't envy the judges at ALL!
Kans, who doesn't like Kans? no one! I'll treat them as one model to paint them quickly and all at the same level as I go along, I hope the weathering works o.k? then that's the last of the models for Gits at this stage then they go flying! then i start Fulgrim
Hey guys, I ordered an Ork head today :-) something with a good amount of bare skin so i can try my hand again at doing a easy to follow tute on the way i particularly do Ork skin, i will try and do it on Friday in between Kan work! it's not a GW one but that shouldn't matter should it for you guys? I just don't like them as much as this one! :-)
Ork skin tute I originally had the pics with the paint mix in the shot but then you couldn't see the head properly so we've had to do it old skool and just type and pic it up! hope it's o.k and still works for you?
these are the only paints I used for the skin:
first up I primed my Ork head in The Army painter Army Green:
then washed it with Agrax earthshade:
next watered down Camo Green as a first highlight:
add a tiny amount of bleached bone, about half a brush tip full
then again add the same amount of bleached bone and water down again starting your paint on the high points for the highlighting, cheek bones and brows, chin and ears etc.
more bleached bone again into the watered mix and only work on the highest points now, using a spare damp brush to blend any excess as this is the final highlight, you can go over the highlights again until the desired brightness is achieved.
now add a little amount of mechrite red or similar dark red into the last mix for the highlight and brush on to the top of his lip and ear tips, a damp brush also helps blend if it looks too strong.
I must sound repetitive but just add again a little red to the mix and brush on the top of the bottom lip darkening it.
and that's it for the skin at least, it'll be the details that you add to bring it to life, that's how i've done all my Orkish skin to date and it really doesn't take long to do but i think it looks pretty decent. onece you've done the skin you just paint everything else like this......
I also realised where i want my Korvydae head to go! special bare heads go on models i really like or want to get to see a lot of action (one day) so I figured having him as the gunner on my Dakka Baal would look cool! using the FW gunner torso makes it even better!
And a little update on the GitsKans! brushed them over again brightening the yellows and marked some areas for fresh weathering, I'd say from here it's blocking in the other colours and more weathering and grease etc. then lenses and they're done! hope they look o.k Gits so far?
aaaaand that's today done! I'm sorry and apologize in advance that some photo's aren't the clearest but i couldn't stop my arms shaking today of all bloody days
Good stuff all round Damo. The Baal gunner looks nice and furious. Gits Kans look awesome. Love the mustardy yellow you've got going. And the skin tut is real swish.
Good man, Nerdy. Good tutorial. Very interesting how little green paint is used. Thanks for the paint shot too, that's useful to me if no one else.
Shouty man head is good. Suits the tank well.
He does remind me of Tidyup though with that gob of his... (if Stoppit and Tidyup mean nothing to you see below)
Thanks for the Tut Nerdy. I'd experimented with shading your way on my own on those nob heads I did recently and wasn't at all satisfied with the results. Nice to have the step-by-step so I can give it another go.
Kans look great! I might suggest perhaps stippling a little lighter orange or darker red/brown onto the rust spots... the random splotches of uniform red look at bit odd. I think if you broke them up a bit so they weren't quite the same, uniform color they'd look more natural.
Thanks everyone! :-) glad i've inspired Dave to stop talking cheese and do some painting! lol! and Gits, the orange bits were just the basis for some extra spotches so you were right on the ball I'm going to add more colour into them and see how they look! although I did realise one mistake :-( I kinda might have glued the arms on..... soz Gits whoops
And nice it followed you here I thought it would be Gouda me to stop by and mention how grate that tank commanders head looks sorry to continue to string this along
I really like the tank commander, he really shows me "Drive me closer, I want to hit him with my swo...... I left it back in the armory , now I'm going to have to just shoot the out of them. RRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGEEEEEE!!!!!"
Liking the Ork skin technique. I might give it a go for some variation when I get back to Da Boyz. Good to see Korvidae's new role has helped his mood as well....
Lots of photo's tonight from a lot of butterfly hobbying! I just jumped around playing with a few things today and got quite far with a couple of projects that I hope you'll enjoy
where shall i start? how about with Gits' Kans! I have so nearly finished these guys and I will admit I was a little worried last week about them! I couldn't put my finger on why or what was wrong I think it may have been the fact that these guys aren't 'clean' models and I couldn't highlight like i normally do, so I had to choose areas that were separate and treat them as individual models in themselves like the grease on the hydraulics and the glow from the engines etc... but I think they've come together nicely and should be only a few weapon touch ups and some basing and then I'll say they're done
Now a couple of itty bitty things I started very basic trying my hand at white, I'm not sold yet and still may strip and try again? but i should do some more details before I give up the ghost!
and Seth's Chain Glaive thanks to your suggestions and i began my first attempt at power weapons have avoided painting them as I had never known how to do something cool that i liked the look of, was reading from the warp and tried his method, a little more to go on it but it's coming along...
Finally, something for Whaley Fulgrim has some work done! he was a nightmare to assemble and I glued myself three times! but he paints up faster, I've nearly done the base so far, just the marines to work on there and some extra details, his armour is just about done in regards to the actual purple it'll be the gold filigree that brings him to the other level I think? it's nice and dark in the shadows and brighter where it needs to be so i'm quite happy so far
Fantastic update Damo! I love the way the kans came out. The weathering on them is fantastic and the OSL on the power core is a great contrast to rest of the kan. The oily grime on the hydraulics looks great, how'd you do it? OH, don't worry about the basing... I'll take care of that here so they'll fit in with their mates.
Nice work on the power weapon... they're tricky, especially when your using a technique that does not involve an airbrush.
The oil grime is great, don't often see a technique like that. Works great for orks.
White looks ok, might just need some of the finishing touches added to make it look right. White is tricky for sure.
Chain glave looks good, and makes more sense then the claws did. Power weapon looks pretty good too. Have you tried the airbrush power weapon technique (do you have an airbrush?)?
Fulgrim is looking to be a solid start. Are you going to take the purples darker (and the dead guys black)? Good call on dead IH's.
Painting white (and black) can be tricky to get it to look right, but the best advice I've seen is to not use white (or black) as the main paint, but use grey and blend up to white (or down to black).
Find an everyday object that you know is white and have a really close look at it under normal lighting conditions. You'll notice that it only looks white on the surfaces that are nearest to the light source, the rest of it looks grey. That's what you want to replicate when painting white.

Thanks gits, you need to like them! so I'm happy they are passing! Oily grime was a little thing i worked out for your dread, I had a pot of old GW 'Ardcoat so i mixed in some black artists ink so it was a thick glossy consistency and just painted it thick onto the parts, then you just blend it up or down the hydro's and it smears and the colour looks quite real the power core/engines are a bit I really like, they gave me the chance to do some clean colour
The power weapon I think will work out! another few little squiggles and a wash and it'll be good!

Thanks Whaley, glad Fulgrim is o.k so far, I think the purples will be dark enough as they are especially when the details get done, it is quite dark in person but next week if i update and you think it should be darker then I'll wash it again for you to darken it down no problem either way dude!
yeah, i do have an airbrush but it's pretty rough and i only use it for big things and priming etc. and I like to use brushes where i can

The red scorpion terminator body is one of my favorite models from forgeworld. And the white is looking great on it.
Fulcrum is looking as bad as the fairy prince can look, great job on purple.
Ha! sidetrack YOU! I don't need to give you any help in that department dude! I think Fully will look pretty nasty and bada$$ when i'm done, lots of contrasts and shadow! I also agree about the Cull'n model it's a cool pose! I'll have a little more painting and see how I like the white, but I can always strip it and try again and again until I get it right!

Why Thanks you Dr Hinternet! my first (other) Apoth was white washed with space wolf grey watered down then used the watered mix to blend up to pure white, it looks good but I want to try a quicker and different way to do it!
Ahhh wow a lot of good stuff since I last checked in, nerd!
The Kans look awesome, and Fulgrim is looking like a badass! In fact, Im kinda dreading seeing him next to the Kabuki Fulgrim I painted for WM previously... I fear you'll just blow him away xD
Re: the white. Im not particularly fond of it at the moment. Sorry, man, but i think its a bit too stark as is. Plus, i dont think you've left any room to highlight it- looks really close to the unpainted lights on the backpack, which I assume is a pure white.
If I may be bold, I think you might be better served by starting from a light gray, like Admin gray and white mixed 1:3 or 4. That way you have options for highlighting with a pure white.
Other than that, Everything is looking great! Definitely looking forward to seeing it all progress ^^
Only little pics today dudes! I got Fulgrims gold work done! looks good, I made it a little darker than the other golds and it gives him a 'Primarchy' ancient armour feel! it's amazing how in partnership with the purple he really starts to come together! (or so i think )
I also had a chance/reason/excuse to start painting a tac squad in the Imperial Harbinger scheme! I am going to be doing some 'grey' work for Whaley and I thought "why not" so I primed a squad and did a rough test model (very quick job guys!) it's not perfect but I think I know how to tackle it all now, I used SWM Armour wash and I really don't like it as a marine wash it's very shiny and leaves tide marks in seconds! next time I'll be using Nuln oil for sure! but as some reviews i've read have said, the SWM wash is spot on for weathering work!
I will be adding some more weathering and powders on the legs i think to give it some contrasts. I like the shade of grey this primer produces and once i get some lighter grey paints I hope it will be better
Your dogs are saints , or I have this whole God thing wrong and I will be reincarnated as the dog with an owner like you who puts baskets on me and probably jumps out in front of me when I least expect it and screams to see if a dog can hang from the ceiling like a scared cat.
Oh and the models are excellent, you've made Fulgrim not look terrible like the FW painter did, and the cataphracti termi is sweet.
Thanks Theo! yep, the fuzzy's are pretty chilled down here! especially Willy he's not in a rush to do anything lol!
cheers on the compliment on Fulgrim too! I wanted to do him overall a little darker than usual and it seems to be working, his face will challenge me as his eyes just seem to be sculpted a little too close together! but I'll do my best :-)
and the Nimrod Grudge shall be getting a shield when i can find my Anvil Industries ones I bought! :-)
Greys Lok's good, though your normal highlighting smoothness isn't up to norm on a few spots (shoulder and hand namely). I suspect it's just a quick proof of concept though.
Fulgrim is shaping up nicely. At least his eyes are just jet black, should be easier to paint.
Hey guys, yep, the marine was a faster job than usual so hopefully with a bit more time I can do them nicer but I've not really worked with grey before I think with the scheme Whaley has in mind it'll look really cool and the pads won't really come into it
also, I did some painting today.... house painting! but I had the blinds down and it led me to see a little friend stumbling up my driveway so I had to down tools and go and give him a hand!
I didn't want him to get run over or too hot or get in with the dogs so i picked him up and popped him in the laundry until i could take him somewhere nice
here he is in the laundry trying to hide!
and here he is as we were about to walk him to a safe place Echidna's are so cute! one of my favorite native animals!
as soon as I put him down he wasted no time in burying himself deep into the dirt for protection and to stay cool!
That's guys! :-) he was a rather large Echidna and snrub! you come down and try and wrangle a wedged echidna with your bare hands! and those gloves are only thin rubber on the palms which i discovered quickly don't stop those damn quills! lol but once you get him up he's pretty calm and just kinda sat in my arms, amazing how strong an animal of that size is though!
Theo, probably the most adorable and gentle Chaos spawn ever! :-)
Graven, if it takes cute animals to get you out of hiding I'll have to keep a folder full of pics! Hmmm Fulgrims sword eh, I'm going to keep it silver but glaze it with different washes to give it a sheen like the inside of an abalone shell.
My dog found an echidna last summer. That was an interesting encounter for sure - you see my dog is the most timid (not so) little guy ever - he wasn't sure wether to play with it, eat it or run away he basically ended up crouched infront of it and whining...
Love the models too! Fulgrim's coming along well and the tac scheme is nice and simple. Nice work
Haha! That's great! Bean, being a Rat Terrier is genetically programmed to hunt and dispatch all squeaky creatures. So I'm afraid a confrontation like that would probably end up very painful for her.
Brother Payne wrote: oh yeah forgot to mention my dog's name is Dave. 'Bout as Aussie as it come
What's wrong with that name?
Absolutely nothing. Dave's a legendary name.

Your absolutely right there Gits. Most Tasmanians have two names. It's one name per head.
Hahahhaahah, this is so true - I was in tassie 2 years ago and there was a two-headed tassie devil in the gift shop. Best thing souvenir I've ever seen
Lol, thanks guys! I'm glad the Tasmanian jokes stopped there! so we have two heads and are about 5 years behind the mainland (points for Dave for even referring to the 'mainland'!) and if my pics are anything to go by....... we don't wear many clothes!
Brother Payne if you're ever back down look me up dude! :-)
So, what's been going on in Dakkaland with you guys? I've been a little quiet for which i apologize but I'm slowly working on those models, Fulgrim really doesn't have a great deal more to do on him, once I pick out the next couple of colour steps which I think will be the white strap thingies and the black leather parts on him, it'll be his face and cloak and then base and touch up!
I've only got a few more weeks until time off! I cannot wait to just sit and paint hopefully for a couple of days! crank the music, tidy the Nerdlair lick my brushes and get down and dirty with some Flesh Eater tanks!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and after having a good hard look at my squad of Imperial Harbingers...... they're now........not :-)

looks like they are now going to be painte.........
Lol, you are actually right Theo, but I was actually wrong the scheme is the same but the parent chapter is the Imperial Fists not the RG, I didn't want to work on another jump pack close combat force this time as nothing can compare to the savage brutality of my Flesh eaters!

Might I suggest he imperial songbirds then. The casually walk forward singing the imperial praises and pecking away a their opponents. You can also model two of them nuzzling each other to get those darn bugs off o them. they come in varied colors as well.

Oh are we gonna get all bird marine names now!? the imperial Shags. The savage Blue tits, harbingers of cuckoo, the dark woodpeckers....
Righto, no penguins here today! but some Fulgrim & Emperors Warbringer for you to pick apart
I did some work on the leather straps on Fulgrim, white is hard to get smooth but a couple of washes and re highlighting and I think they look quite acceptable? again, i'm trying to keep him just a bit darker than I usually do, he's beautiful but hides a dark evil......
I got to a rather menial and small task as well, painting the stripes and chest eagles white among the ranks of my Flesh eaters, i now have nearly all the troops and Termies done now.
The Emperors Warbringers HQ has actually seen some work and progressed quite fast! something about the colour meant I worked through it at a paint by numbers speed I like the look, he's still clean like i like but sporting a little battle damage and overall he looks pretty 'solid' and weighty like a stalwart child of Rogal Dorn should...
sorry that's not much excitement today guys! but looking at Fulgrim he's going ahead fast and should be done soon...
Hate to be that guy, nerdy, but I cant say Im a fan of the light purple on fulgrim. To me it looks rather pinkish? Maybe a shade or two more purple-ey would suit him better? On the other hand, the golds are absolute top notch.
Flesh tearers are still looking awesome, and the white really starts bringing them to life out of the mass of red (feels like forever since we saw them last! )
Finally, the Harbinger looks wicked. Very unusual color, and it definitely suites him. He really should put on a helmet, though... Looks like he banged his head on the landraider door... Maybe thats how the rest of his armor got so banged up?
Thanks guys, I will take the advice and give Fulgrims armour another couple of washes of purples and see how it looks, you don't think it'll be too dark though? I don't want it to not look purple enough? we can only try eh!
the Emperors Warbringer praetor will indeed have a shield I juuuuuust need to actually find the damn things! they're somewhere in the Nerdlair hiding with some chain glaives and a Necromunda gang i want to paint from Anvil Industries I must find them!!
and war is brutal! so brutal in fact that sometimes even kickass termie captains get capped in the helmet! (not THAT helmet .... you guys!) and as such need to remove it after suffering a heinous scratch!
Cheers dudes! I washed the armour again with purple and it does look good, probably not much difference for a pic but I'll show you when i do more during the week unless you really wanna judge? lol
and the more I look at the EW (Emperors Warbringers) from here on :-) I really like the feel, the jungle ruin marble base is nice and I hope to make them different to my other army via theming, I have been re reading all i can about the Imperial Fists so I can get the vibe for them and I'm thinking iron banding and metals, with not many accessories? now i need to go searching for more 'bits' to bring that all to life!
Good call on Fulgrim. Lovely work on the EW, might be worth looking at lizardmen bits for adding to your ruined Tempe aesthetic? I suspect those folk doing salamanders will have bits to spare from hoarding shields. Worth a punt.
I wanted to do the emperors warbringers years ago, glad I didn't because after seeing your work my painting area would be a mess of smashed miniatures . Everything looks great nerdfest I like Fulgrim as is, the color really does show a change in the works starting at the head of the legion.
Nice detail on fulgrim so far, I remember painting one for a mate and shying away from the vibrant purple as for me it didn't fit his aesthetic, the godl however is on another level, wow!
Hey Knightley, thanks man, I want to darken the purple more now but I'm hesitant incase I lose the colour which is kinda his trademark, but really the model should speak for itself as to who it is? I mean, it'll still be purple but dark purple......
also, just saw Imperial Titans are coming! :-) just saw my wallet take a hit! just saw my mrs get shirty!
aaaand, I need a good cartoony style space marine helmet picture in black and white? anyone know of any sites i can peruse that's not deviant art (work blocked) I plan on using it for.... something
I can see it , guess its some troll issue, or a monkey issue, or a monkeytroll issue . I really don't want to know how a monkeytroll comes about, seems like poor breeding to be sure.
Not having you on the pic shows on my screen . It's a picture of dark helmet from spaceballs , this is usually how my jokes go over in real life so........
No poor breeding here good sir - only the finest genetic engineering can combine the looks of an ape with the brains of a troll....err, no hang on..that's not it....the foul fish-breath of the troll with the gak-flinging of the.....no no, that's not right...the...no. Something to do with hamsters and elderberries...? Not quite there...um....Ah, got it! Oh no. Definitely not that.
Some of you will groan some of you will bemoan! and some will shake your head in sadness but it's sadly come to the point again where real life trumps models and I sadly need to part with some more of my collection, this time it is going to be my rather lovely Imperial Guard army but I really don't know how much to ask I'm at work at the moment so can't do an inventory until the morning, I just thought i'd crack the ice to start and work from here there's a lot of models and extra's certainly enough for a force in itself especially with rumors of a new codex soon too!
don't feel too sorry for me though, I do still have more marines than I can poke a titan at to paint, so i should be able to be strong and carry on but certain things have forced my hand this time, nothing too serious and in the long run it's good stuff but at the moment I need to try and grab some funds to get us sorted over the next couple of months!
I feel better just starting to talk about it! maybe down the line I'll re visit guard but for now......
I've just parted with my guard army, I sympathise. Tedious as it is I would say sell it piecemeal as I made a good 50% more than I expected to for the lot. You're looking at roughly 40% of retail, btw.
It's cool. Wish now I had seen the deal earlier. I am happy with my end of the deal. And I think he's right Nerdy, Not many people have enough to buy a massive army in a one'r. But a bunch of troop's or a squadron of tanks is different.
well, I'll pop up what i have and see what you think it would be worth both as a whole or as separate sections? there's more than i thought too!
here's a shot of everything assembled
I have for the force:
57 Guardsmen (27 assembled 30 clipped off sprue not assembled)
3 sentinels with flamers
10 custom Storm troopers
2 command squads
1 commissar
1 Sly Marbo
3 heavy weapon teams
2 Vendetta's
2 Leman Russ tanks
2 Punisher tanks
1 Devil Dog
1 Executioner
3 Chimeras
the Guardsmen have all MadRobot miniatures heads and Kromlech backpacks, I also have about 37 more backpacks and numerous more MadRobot heads and assorted Kromlech legs and plasma rifles from them too, as well as another Vendetta conversion kit.
Vendettas
example of a chimera and squad
executioner & devil dog
Punishers (one driven by Bruce Willis)
Russes
Marbo
Custom Storm troopers
Other Guardsmen clipped and organized
spare parts, guns, packs etc
I can get better pics if anyone needs them later?
should I put this up in the swap shop? the DCM swap shop? or ebay? not sure the best option for a decent result, I'll be interested to see what some of you think it's worth, should be interesting experiment anyway
and yep, I do still have the good 'ol Fleshies to paint and I'll never be rid of them! they've been the most fun and I've dedicated the DC Dread to my brother (r.i.p) so it's got that connection to me personally, one day I'll finish the company!
S'all good snrub, means I don't need to think about what to work on! :-) means you get more marines from me and more space for other mates commissions if they cross my desk!
Sad to see you have to sell up after all the work you put into them. I'd almost snag them myself again but self control nggggghhh...

Sorry for being sort of brush absent lately! the last two weeks have been pretty hectic for me on my days off! but that's gonna change with holidays next week! today i did manage to find a couple of hours free to get some paint onto Fulgrim, you know how you sort of get to the point where you feel like you're not making progress even though you've been painting for ages? I felt like that with him today...until..... I reached the tipping point! and now I'm happy!
Yes, i got some more work on his face done! and i think i've done him justice? was hard as his eyes are close together which kinda throws the overall look, but I had a crack and i'm happy so far, I don't really know what else to do all bar a touch up or two! so it may be done overall I took the advice and darkened the overall look of him and his armour, so i bought it through to his face too and it works, he's not a good guy anymore so dark and beautiful was the aim!
the base features Iron Hands marines fallen at his feet, i've dumbed them down on purpose so not to overpower the figure but they look beaten and worn, and in doing so i may have found a way to make a polished black shiny armour? maybe I'll have to keep testing
SHUT UP DAMO AND SHOW ME YOUR PROGRESS!!!!
.... o.k
Hope you like him guys! should be done early next week!!
The purple looks great, and that gold is WOAH. I think the gems on his chest and sword hilt, and maybe some color on the handle and holster should be solid. And, you know, the cape. Really excited to see those final details bring him all together.
Oh, his eyes are jet black, btw. Should make them easier to paint anyways.
He's looking great, Damo. The gold looks great, and the slightly darker shade of purple looks much better. Face is great as well, particularly the use of different shades on his cheeks and lips.
Fantastic job on the face Also think the gems could do with being picked out, and think you may have dumbed down the iron warriors just a tad too much.
Thanks guys, just a quick fly by tonight! :-) I haven't really done his hair yet as i'm contemplating a few ideas! but I think I may have to just do it white and normal and see how it looks?
Ummm this is gonna sound stupid, but which gems on the sword and chest do you mean need colour? and what colour should I do?
I'll be adding some dirt over the IH's to battle weary them and probably add some line highlights to the armour.
his face is pretty much done after looking at it, just a black wash in the sockets should be good !
O.k cool, the gem on the sword hilt and the one the eagle's holding on his chest i'll do red like the cloak then ;-) might get a chance to do that today!
Fulgrim is looking swanktastic. And your ability to paint faces never ceases to amaze. The fact that you managed to pick out tongue, teeth and his lips in such detail is mind boggling. How you do it i'm not quite sure. But it looks bloody good. What I think really sets him off is the subtle stubble you've given him. Even the perfect primarch needs to shave occasionally.
The one thing that I don't like about the model is the pink on his cheeks. It looks more like he's applied rouge rather then him being hot and sweaty and puffed out. Honestly though, I think the only reason I noticed it was because of the close up picture. I doubt you'd notice it at tabletop range.

Thanks snrub, it's funny, I used the exact same methods as when i painted the Ork skin! just different colours I tend to think some people overthink when they paint faces, it's no different than armour or bases, and subtlety is the key, plus I like them to reflect a person as if they were real hence light stubble and flushed cheeks for battle etc...

It's actually more subtle than the last close up shows, but i had to get the pic that big to even show you I added it quite pink to reflect the sweat from battle, and also to mimic rouge! if i'm remembering the book correctly they ended up going all nuts for anything sensory and gilded/beautiful/hellish... and I can imagine his being slightly crazy applying makeup to beautify himself further as his mind twisted from normality! ?
I should ... NO I WILL have him finished within two days! I started my holidays for the week today and have to finish Fulgrim Gits Kans and BigH's bare heads then I can pour myself back into Flesh Eaters, although it's been so long I need to remember how to paint them lol
I am proud to show you the finished Fulgrim! He was a challenge, but a good challenge! I kinda got lost about 3/4 way through and wasn't sure if i was happy with the result I was producing for Whaley, but after a break for a week or so I was inspired to do the next steps and am glad I did! after about an hour or so back painting I got back into the groove and just couldn't put him down! everything seemed to fall into place for me and I was happy with my painting again especially when i kept putting him all together to see how it looked as a diorama! as you know it's not often I blow my own horn but I am proud of how he looks and I hope you guys like him too
The parts i like most would have to be the gold, I tweaked my own recipe and it seems to work even better for this model, a bit darker and richer i think the other part i really love is his face, I wasn't sure I could paint it and get it to look good because of the close together eyes but I think the skin tones are more the focus than his actual features? whatever the case, i like how it looks, i think it's beautiful and cruel just like Games Workshop
Well, I'll stop going on now and just pour a bunch of pics at you eh!
So, what do you think? I think I have Ferrus Manus next to do so if you've any ideas for bringing him to life I'd be more than happy to hear your thoughts!
Absolutely gorgeous Damo. Im glad ive been away to see this whole model finished instead of step by steps. Holy smokes this is a good one. Fantastic freehand as well. You continue to inspire. Expect a care package of your goodies!
Only complaint is you didn't upload to Dakka to see on the front page
Cape came out great, the red really sets him off. Glad you took the break and attacked it again head on. The final results really speak for themselves. Should be interesting to see Ferrus, who is tan and worn, almost the opposite. A whole new challenge.
Looking forward to seeing marines of many colors. Did you figure out what to do with the guard? Happy to bounce ideas around more with you on it.
Clearly some of your finest brush work. The ornamentation on the cloak are amazing, and the face is impeccable. The purple and red compliment the gold just beautifully. I know it's been a lot of effort Damo, but I think it was well worth it. You nailed it.
Thank you so much everyone :-) I really do like him myself and it seems he's VERY well received! I will go and pop them on Dakka now, you'll have to jump over to my gallery and check him out to vote (if you want to?) as I've only a short time tonight (and I can't remember how to link them from the pics again ) *yeah facepalm* :-)
thanks again, tomorrow will see the finish of the Kans! yes THE KANS!
* Whalemusic fixed the pics so you can now click and vote if that's your desire!* (he's a bloody legend!)
Damn Damo, your skills seem to slowly improve everyone you paint something. I can't say anything that hasn't been said, it looks just fantabulous. I really like that hue you did on his sword, its a simple thing but really adds to it. And his face is just perfect.
And by Kans I'm hoping bewbs...... but I'll probably be disappointed
Thank you, thank you thank you again :-) I've chucked the pics up in my gallery! and KC you're gonna be disappointed about the Kans bro! unless....... I take a good selfie of my moobs?
Great job Damo !
I think that he looks even better than the previous one. Angron looked good, but Fulgrim beats him hands off.
I like his sword, you used similar colors as I use on my DE army. Is it a coincidence ? Anyway, it looks real good.
Your gold has a strong contrast, it gives a nice depth to the model (is this correct in english too ? ^^).
The only thing that I dislike is the grey trim of the base. Why not black ? Would be more classy.
I wasn't feeling 100% for the last couple of days and thought i'd give brushes a rest today but then i realised I had forgotten to take some tablets for 2 days! Duh! chucked down a couple and feel a bit better so thought i'd try and finish the Kans! and I did
these were challenging to me because I wanted to make them very industrial and dirty, and i'm not used to that kind of thing. I hope they look o.k and not too messy? once gits bases them I think they'll be better but overall I like them together and on the table surrounded by boys they'll be killing stuff before we know it!
Think you've nailed the aesthetic just right Damo. I'd planned on spending quality time with my orks after Adepticon, these fine machines will fit right in with the rest of the boyz!

FTFY
Lol Oh you guys! well, banter aside i'm glad they're looking good! i'll do my best to get them to master gitsplitta soon so they can stand next to the DeffDread and do what they Kan to kill things!
and thanks again for all the positivity guys! I'm feeling a great sense of relief and achievement getting the Fulgrim model and the Kans finished, I'm going to work on my counts as dante now and then do some bare heads (12) for BigH then I have a new project from Whaley to work on but I'll wait and start it before I post it up but I think it'll be cool!
well, it just so happens i have one that i just finished about 10 minutes ago! i've been on a good roll this week so far, this guy (yet to be named c'mon people?) is pretty cool, I like the subtle difference to the gold armour as it's a bit darker and not as gold as the sang guard and his face suits the whole nature of my Flesh eaters the axe was pretty much my first real attempt at trying a power weapon effect, I think it looks good and now I'm confident I can use other colours to achieve the same effect on a slightly negative note there are some areas I'm not thrilled with when it came to the casting of this model, it's genuine Finecast and had a few muddy details but he's for my own tabletop force so no biggie!
love to know if you feel he looks enough like the master/captain of a chapter shunned by their brother marines trying to claw their reputation back from an abyss of bloodshed and hearsay by enacting brutal and swift assaults on the enemies of a stagnant Imperium?
Lets see what tomorrow brings?....... probably not much
Nice NMM techniques on the gold. I'll have to learn to do that some day. Face is stellar as usual. Glow on the pistol is a nice touch. All-round... a first class effort! Did we expect anything less??
Looks golden! Power weapon came out nice, and I like that he doesnt look like a sang guard. Always thought it was a bit strange to have Dante and Sanguninor both in the golden nipple armor.
San76 wrote:Nerdy, that looks great. the face is grim as ..well.. very grim.
love the reds (as always) and purple as a choice for the power weapon has worked out really well.
Hey San, thanks man, I was going to do the axe in a molten lava red like I tend to always go back to when i don't know what to do but I was browsing FTW and his method just seemed to be very 'Damo' and I gotta say i like it and will be using it again!
Gitsplitta wrote:Nice NMM techniques on the gold. I'll have to learn to do that some day. Face is stellar as usual. Glow on the pistol is a nice touch. All-round... a first class effort! Did we expect anything less??
Cheers! but there's no nmm on him! and I do like the face, not just the paint but the actual face just seems to fit him well, it's all part of the way I 'feel' a model
HoeJarris wrote:Absolutely brilliant fulgrim! Love the gold and the purple is a really nice tone!

Thank you Hoe, I never thought Dante would be 'stylin' but i'll take it!

Ha, golden! cheers dude, I didn't want him to look like a sang guard but still be visually recognizable as a elite character and fit with the squad if he leads them, plus I don't like nipple armour either

The sticky oil on the pistons is a nice idea !
The Blood Angel character looks pretty good to. His face in particular is eye-catching.
You're no too bad at painting, mate. Great job !
Thanks Minus! from you that's pretty high praise mate! not bad at painting Lol well, i'm not your level seeing as I only came second.....

I swear I left the thread for less than a week! Solid work mate
One thing I noticed on the Warbringers Capt is the shield hand looks awkward and unfinished, as though it's not actually attached to the shield or something. Now maybe that's where the upcoming bits come in, but just incase... Food for thought.
Woah, missed that dude all together. Looks good! The shield seems a bit tiny, but maybe that's just compared to Lysander's whose is giant. You going to do the crossed swords icon anywhere?
And I think the NMM technique with metals is just MNMM. Same sound I make while eating a good pizza.
Hey hey guys! yeah the shield and hand aren't finished, that's the last bit to do, but i didn't want to wait to show you :-) I was trying for 3 models in 3 days lol!
might be a little quiet for a small while (like a few days) but rest assured I've got more to come :-)
I ought to shove my tuppence in here and say a few well chosen words; Me like giant shiny purple man. As I understand it its a pretty huge model with its base and victims, and fulgrim is no shortarse. I like the gold bits. You are keeping the craft alive!
Hey Guys, I got some W.I.P for you I sat down for a little bit yesterday and today and worked on my Librarian with a jumpack, but first I better reply to a few posts! I need to apologize if I've been pretty poor replying to everyone lately but I read every post and love every polite comment and bit of advice and criticism!
Azazelx wrote:Great looking work there, Damo. Love the weathering on his armour.
Thanks Az it works well with the green shades, it's just the brightest highlight colour used as a paint chip then some metal

Hey Weety! nice to see you again how are those hairless feet of yours? glad i can use what's becoming an 'old' technique and still make it look decent I will never be able to paint nmm, I just can't get it!

Great job on the kans, but Dante steals the show
lols Theo! I gotta say I am really happy with Dante myself, it's funny, I have a certain level or way i paint my own tabletop work and I really like how it looks even though it's a little less involved than what I can do it makes me smile when i see them all together and Dante is up there looking epic! i'm glad you like him!
O.k back to the Libby! this guy has confirmed for me a couple of things, firstly, I don't like painting blue and secondly, I don't think i can paint blue well but that aside, I believe it still fits in with my style and the rest of the force i've done?
saying that, I am still happy with him and like him but he hasn't flowed like my others he's working now and I'd love feedback on what way i can/should paint the other parts of him like the staff etc.
now for Librarian (I need a name for him people!)
looking forward to catching up with you all with a bit more time soon!
Fantastic work brother nerd. That yellow looks especially good. So much depth. Same with the guy above...on the shield too, which by the way i like the small size of...it like a mini oil painting on the face of it! Inspiring as always my friend

Thanks Chadlance! stop hanging here and go finish being a 10/10 painter!
Righto, I also sat down and doodled a bit today I was thinking about whipping up a picture for Gits kids and didn't want to hole myself up in the Nerdlair while the Nerdwench was home, but I could grab a pen and draw and still be in the lounge (yes, my home isn't just a painting room! ) I believe one plays Necrons and the other Tyranids, so I got the basic ideas penned down and I'll finish them a bit later on!
Hey guys, you this whole Killteam thingy right? well, i'm thinking I want to make one for myself :-) but I want to base it around an Inquisitor and his warband of assasins and muscle! can anyone help me out with if it's possible to do? I think i need 6 models right?
i've ideas for models already but don't want to make them unless I can actually use them for fun! :-)
looking forward to your thoughts! Oh and any models you want a few bucks for that could be used let me know :-) anything from DE to Fantasy (cos I have none)
I love Kill Team. Keep an eye on this post, and I will populate it with help shortly!
OK, so Kill Team. One of the most fun formats to play.
The base rules / requirements ARE: Max 200pts 0-1 Elite 0-2 Troops 0-1 Fast Attack Must be at least 4 Non-Vehicle models.
No Models may have a 2+ Armour Save or more than 3 Wounds.
No Vehicles may have more than 3HP or a combined AV greater than 33 (FA+SA+RA).
No Reserves and No Flyers. Any units that would normally have to arrive by Deep Strike are instead deployed at the start.
Also remember that while you must pruchase whole units and meet any requirements (i.e. 5 men to get a special weapon), when on the field each model acts independently as a seperate unit. This means that any gear bought by a single model, that would normally affect the entire unit, does not.
Your min. 4 models will be your Leader and 3 different Specialists (chosen from Combat, Weapon, Dirty Fighter, Indomitable and Guerilla lists). All models, including vehicles are scoring, unless their rules specifically state otherwise. Fully 1/2 of the Kill Team missions are objective based, so bear that in mind. (I really need to put this into a pretty picture the amount of times I've done this...)
You can face some crazy stuff in Kill Team, such as several Bikes, large hordes (up to 40+ models) and multi-vehicle lists. For example, my Dark Eldar Kill Team is 5 Warriors, 3 Wracks, a Raider with Dark Lance and a Venom.
For an Inquisitorial Warband, you can't really take an Inquisitor sadly (though you may be able to kit out a Priest as one?), and you only really have 1 Warband to play with. (Unless there's specific rules for it in the Inq book... I'll go look!) nope. Fortunately, one Warband can include a CRAZY amount of stuff in there.
The key parts (for me) in a Kill Team list are to include at least a little anti-tank and a little anti-horde.
You could do something like:
2 Crusaders (Sword and shield) to camp on objectives
1 DCA 7 Acolytes w Boltguns
1 Acolyte w Chainsword/Plasma Pistol
1 Acolyte w Plasma Gun
1 Razorback, Psycannon and searchlight
So I can't really have an Inquisitor per se? but I can kit out 9 guys as 'henchmen/accolytes' with bolters and plasma:
7 Acolytes w Boltguns
1 Acolyte w Chainsword/Plasma Pistol
1 Acolyte w Plasma Gun
I can make a sweet sexy death machine:
1 DCA
and 2 guys which are the crusaders but I can make them 'look' inquisitorial' right?
2 Crusaders (Sword and shield) to camp on objectives
and then a Razorback for hooning around in!
I'm thinking of making the plasma gun guy my 'heavy' guy, so a big brute with a good size to him and a big plasma gun, pretty imposing and battle worn
acolyte with chainsword and plasma pistol I want to make like a preacher/firebrand! skinny and frantic weilding chainsword like a conductor with a baton!
7 acolytes with boltguns, old skool boltguns, almost a mercenary look for some of them maybe theme a couple? perhaps pirate, mongol,Aussie?
Assassin will be just a damn creepy and sexy lady, not sure whether to go ninja/assassin style or harlequin/circus performer?
and lastly but probably most important the 2 crusaders swords and shields right! looks like I need to go bits huntin' they need to be imposing but believable so again i impose apon you to throw ideas to me!
I love this! Lol but don't get distracted! spoilered due to bad language not suitable for everyone!
Is there a specific henchmen type that you wanted to use? I was just playing around in Army Builder with that list. Some of them, like the psyker, are pretty worthless in Killteams (and not Killteams).
Thanks Whaley I'll use them as my base for building the little blighters some time :-) gonna take a while to get some bits suitable to use!
and my holiday ....was.....good! and now i'm back on day shifts! I had such a busy time in the second week getting stuff done and only found solace in taking a pic each evening of the fuzzy kids to chuck on facebook for my 'Dog a day on holiday' I hardly use it and thought it a good way to stay in touch with people! or just show them my big willy......
I should be able to get a bit done on the sharks this week though :-) looking through the Badab pics it looks like they all have the lower faceplate done in off white? but I can't really tell due to the way they do the artwork? bronzey rivets and banding I can see ;-)
In addition to the Primarchs, Damo is doing up a thousand point list of Sharks for me. Real basic stuff, so it could be used at Adepticon TT without taking up any of the "extra" slots.
Darnit you beat me to the punch damo. I was planning on building a space sharks army for nyc but theres no way i can do it when youre already doing it v_v. Le sigh.
Oh Chadlance! do not fret! in fact I encourage you! I want to see how you'd do them :-) I'm doing a table top force for Whaley so if you spend the time and use the mass of talent you've shown us recently then I honestly couldn't come close dude!
I hope to chuck up a little w.i.p on Sat of the Sharks, should only be base colours and some washing, but that's the hardest part for me lol! then i just shoot through and finish them!
You realize you are absolutely too kind. But you're good for my self confidence! I can assure you that probably nothing interesting will come of it. Space marines are not my forte and I've very little experience painting them. I've been trying to think of an army I can play in NYC, using public transit, so that means they have to be portable and pretty low in model count. Doesn't leave alot of options left. And for some reason, grey marines just remind me of the old days of 40k. So. Yeah. Space sharks. That was my thought process. Lol. But you'll be here to help me and keep me inspired!
Ps sent you a pm

Trust me bebop! Whaley know's his stuff! let him guide you like a sensai my son....
I mentioned a little project i'm doing for Whaley!? well, I started it proper today, a 1000pt Cacharadons force and it's coming along 'swimmingly' already assembled they arrived to my door and I went about priming and washing them, once dry I laid down the base colours I wanted, bronze trim, dark grey pads, white lower helms and red lenses, even now they are looking sweeet! they won't take as long as Fulgrim etc. as I'm whipping through these guys at Table top level which is the same as I do my own marine stuff!
here's where i'm at with the project so far! even managed to squeeze a bare head in there, it looks a bit odd due to the lower jaw but he looks o.k with the squad and when you hold him in your hand
I also got the black armour on Lemartes finished, I like the look and as usual it'll be the details that make it work!
lol, yep local fauna for reference! had to tip a great white out of the dogs water bowl the other day! :-)
the head is half marine and half possessed head! I need to get someone to make some more for me, my job was a tester but I liked it more than i thought lol!
Hey, I Finished a Shark this morning to see what it'd look like I wanted to do these guys at a table top level for speed of painting, I hope they still look decent enough for you whaley? they are primed in a grey then washed with black and have a single highlight in fortress grey on the high points the bronze is tin bitz washed black and re covered with tin bitz and of course.... other parts are painted
I quite like the result and should be able to nearly get them done this weekend or at least a good way along!
Looks great! I like the black eyes (per our convo this morning). Makes the red on the purity seal and lens pop that much more. Tribal looks good too! Your speed painting is on the same level as my painting painting and faster. Which is annoying, you talented git.
Are you going to do any sort of squad markings? They are tremendously useful while playing. It's to easy to loose track of if they end up in close proximity.
Awesome damo! I was hoping id see an update soon to see how these are progressing. The black eyes are a perfect choice. Like the black cold lifeless eyes of the great white! You really have these down to a science! So fast and so good!
Thanks guys! glad he passes muster i was a little concerned as i've never painted for someone to a table top style so wasn't sure how far to go with it? now I know it's acceptable I can go faster as i know exactly what and where to paint, I decided against chipping them as the grey is pretty dark and it would get lost and not look as effective (imo)
Squad marking? what & where? like tac arrows or squad numbers on knees etc?
I also was talking to my mate Ad who is a 40k tragic too and he is a little excited and wants a Knight, and so do I, so I had a chat with someone in the know this morning and it looks like I shall be obtaining one and Ad will be giving me $ to give someone to buy one! but that's not why I mentioned it! No, Ad wants to make it interesting! so once we actually get them we want to have a little painting battle between us both the rules so far we've nutted out will be.
*4 weeks to finish
*base must be cinematic
*once a week update (for both of us on here)
*and hopefully I can get a poll up for voting or something when done?
So simple but fun!
so with Whaleys sharks and BigH's bare heads I'll be working on the Knight (whenever we get 'em) should be a great time for paint and brushes!
Marine looks great man. The freehand has a very nice flow to it. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with the knight! Any teasers on the scheme?
Squad marking? what & where? like tac arrows or squad numbers on knees etc?
Yeah, just like some squad numbers on the knee, shoulder pad, backpack, or whatever. Can be simple roman numbers, or you can try to "tribal" up some numbers (roman or otherwise).
Productive day! got all the Sharks nearly done! all the armour was highlighted and so was the metals and white parts, all that's left is to paint the eye lenses black and do some other lenses and tribal markings, I know they're not top tier but all together I kinda think they look cool! and they didn't take long either.
So, next week I will have them all done and only the Razorback to complete. feeling a bit lost on my own projects so i'm happy to have Whaley's to do! although I am a little pumped about getting a knight and having a knight-off with my mate Adam should I do the carapace armour a lacquered glossy marble effect or a chipped and blended worn look?
.........
Oh.................... and...................
.................... A magazine,piggy bank,slipper & hat on a dog
Think something wrong with some of your pics though.(blank spaces.)
Sharks look fintastic. Could we have a closer look at that kneeling missile launcher dude, he looks special.
And on the carapace armour, I would go with the marble, everyone does this weathered malarkey these days, and the one thing we can guarantee from Nerdy is not run of the mill.
Thanks guys, Oscar (a LabX so good eye) always always looks like the worlds saddest dog in pics! and as you can tell, William is much fonder of dressing up!
I'll finish the Sharks next week and take some shots of a couple of choice marines for closer pics :-) the grey is a simple version, it's just a grey primer washed with black and fine highlighted in fortress grey, i have to print off some designs for the tribals to use but they'll be fun!
O.k I'll do a glossy marble-ish effect like the finish on a Brass Scorpion as that's what inspired me, it'll be Mechanicus themed so is there anything I need to adhere to when adding iconography? I'm thinking just red, metal and brass?
Love the way the Sharks turned out. That glowing power sword being pulled from the scabbard is just too cool for school. Well done!
He's got the Burning Blade, so thought it would be cool if Damo did the sword like the engines he did on your cans. I really like the way these guys look, simple and striking. My favorite is still the running flamer dude, just cuz he was the most fun to model.
I can hear Oscar quoting Danny Glover now. "I'm getting to old for this "
Woah, at first it looked like you loaded a cannon with all kinds of random items and launched it at the dog! Glad to hear it is not so.
Those Space Sharks are looking really neat and I would like to applaud you on using their proper name. Another thing I have to congratulate you on is for having made the most disturbing miniature I have ever seen. I do see quite a lot of minis including the pseudo-edgy Kingdom Death stuff but you beat all of them by a long shot with Ron Pearlman Space Shark.
These are some excellent looking Sharks, especially for the speed at which you are painting them. Where did the Chapter specific shoulder pads come from?

Hey Siggy good to see you here! thanks for the compliments my friend! the sharks are cool to paint and am happy my quick method actually looks half decent (still nowhere near your old wolves you did) and you like the bare head shark I simply gotta do more if Whaley will let me!
Dr H wrote:Nice work on the Sharks. Good poses WM.
Good paint NF.
Now I've played buckaroo on a (drunken and passed out) friend, but not a dog.
Full marks for random.
Oh thank the lord! I get full marks for randomness!? that's the aim! I can't think of anything else to 'put on a dog'?
bebopdrums2424 wrote:Awesome update. You've got so many done and they all look fantastic. the Burning ember sword is a nice touch too. Love it. Great stuff sir, as always!
Thanks Kevy Chadlance! yes I am getting through them fast! I got them from primed and washed to all highlighted in 3.5 hours!

Thanks ephrael, those pads were obtained by Whalemusic from fastways I believe? but i'm sure he'll be around soon to say G'day and confirm!
