I have a new favourite. Though technically not my BEST conversion (Clan Skyre hell pit ftw!) its probably my best paint job, and its still one of my favourite conversions, so here it is!

My Loxatl Mercenary, made out of a cold one lizard. For those of you that don't know, Loxatl are a form of lesser xenos.

Here are two plastic sisters of battle. I want to redo the head of the cannoness, and maybe redo the paint on both. These are surprisingly easy: if I can do it, it can't be that hard

Fantastic work on that Mephiston conversion, Ultraraider! Adds some much needed dynamism to the model!

That LR should be remote controlled... hell yeah....

And replace the skull on top with the skull tape measure, and remote control that too.

And the crown could be an ash tray, so it'll look like it's giving off exhaust fumes or something...

excuse me? airbrushing is just an other tool to use and believe me its much easier to pick up a brush to make something look decent then it is with an airbrush!

That guy has more grenades and ammo pouches that both my 5k SM and 2k GK armies put together. Exactly 2 more grenades and 5 more pouches

I know why, it seems 'small', i.e. it the marine doesn't seem to be in GW's Heroic Scale, it almost seems have normal proportions

Catachan command squad has that head (as was already pointed out). And the point was for him to be realistically able to carry all his equipment

That Captain is awesome! I shudder at the cost of doing a whole army that way, and he must be a nightmare to paint, but the conversion's still excellent

I will share my favourites, its a throw up between my Dark Eldar Archon and my Necromunda Redemptionists.

The paint work on the Archon has been cleaned up and I have added flock and a Corvus SM helmet to his base. Just needed him finished to showcase in a quick 500 point skirmish.

Power claw was made from 3 scything talons, some plastic rod, and putty. The arm is a old choppa arm cut off at the wrist.

Torso was widened, and the height was increased between the torso, and legs. Gave him some custom squig stompin' boots, and a exhaust stack out the back. I've also got a small squig I plan on mounting on top of the torso, chained to the exhaust as his attack squig.

Basically it's supposed to be a over the top blood axes warboss in mega armor.
Here's a shot of one of the Meganobz with him. Mad Doc sayz legz is obsolete gotz ta have treads to krump heads!

This was done for me by a friend. It is however the best conversion in my collection.

I like that the dreadnought is jumping over a small wall it could easily smash. It looks more mobile than most dreads.

If you mean what did I use: a toy armored car for the bottom, tracks from some toy for the tracks, a tea tin for the main body, a makeup container (not mine, of course) for the gun, cardboard covered in craft stick shingles for the roof, a paint pot with the same shingles for the highest turret, and a battery for the deff rolla (braincrushas don't normally have these, I just thought that a tank this big needed one). Alright i'll offer up a sacrifice to the paint god.

This model was converted from the Skrag th Slaughterer Ogre figure back in the late 80s. I liked the figure so much I painted it normally and converted it. Mt conversion skills however were (and are) woeful.

Behold.....Skrag the Space Marine!! If I was to redo this one i'd use a jump pack and not make much a mess of it. Be gentle

I can't stand the Skorne heads so dremelled off the Nihilators mutilated mugs and placed DEldar Scourge heads on. Very simple: dremel off the heads using the cutting wheel, clean up the neck (especially those that had their chins resting on the bicep), cut off the Scourge neck socket. Pin the head on, smooth the join with green stuff. These are primed/basecoated using krylon rust primer which came out a bit thicker then expected but didn't obscure the fine detail on the head and body.

Very inspirational works of art on here. Nothing short of art.

I got bored during a late-night conference call, I got bored and built a coven-themed Venom.






It still needs some GS work (and paint), but overall I like the result.

I always love coming into this thread and seeing what the other creative types in Dakka can come up with.
Note to self, must take pics of my Plasma CCS and Vets as well as the Support Sentinel and the Fiery Fox

Hey ya. Been scrolling through this thread for a few days now and I am really loving this stuff.

Here aware a few of the things I have been doing over the last few weeks. I'm just getting back into 40k after a lengthy absence. There is no green stuff in sight as I really cannot do it.



This is a wolf lord with termie armour, frost blade and storm shield. I don't like the way the termies look so static do I tried to give him some movement.



The idea behind this one was a lone wolf with the mark of the wulfen, hence the ragged mix of armour look.

Nice work on posing these, especially the first one. I think all models should have dynamic poses, lol
But you might want to go over these again and clean up the mold lines

Oh and welcome to dakka!

You don't need greenstuff really, just patience. I like the pose of the lord on the rock. Looks as if he's knocking away a hit with his shield as he stabs with his sword.

Right, I have finally finished looking through all the posts on here, it's only taken most of the week...
There is so many cool ideas and brilliant executions. Nice one everyone.
Sadly, as I haven't been collecting minitures for very long I don't have much in the way of a large bitz pile for a major conversion.
But I feel I should give something back so here is one of my GS that has had some repair work performed on him by The Mad Scientist.

I bet you can see what I did with him..., and ignore his friend there's nowt converted about him.

Awesome stuff guys, been a while since i posted so heres a few.

These are a simple weapons swap on some Defiance UA Marines, but I like em - and they are some of my most recent conversions -

Without further ado, I give you Privates Warren and Zevon, UAMC

Throwing mine in. This Techmarine incorporates som Necron parts, and was a conversion born out of necessity. GW actually packed in two of the same sprue, leaving me without the flamer arm and the backpack. I also wound up with two of the same servo arms. The extra bits allowed the mech arms to fit quite nicely, and the little claws on the sides basically cover up the lack of symmetry in the servo arms. The claw, whichs plays as a Thunder Hammer, came from the Iron Warriors Warsmith, and the head was an Iron Warriors bit. It was not easy to shave out the resin head and shave down the pewter head...

Current WIP; Abaddon the despoiler stand in/proxy made from Logan grimnar.

My first conversion (well green stuff addon) which I did a bit ago for my now being sold off Ultramarines 4th Company army, I've got to make way for my, as yet undecided, new army project. I built the banner from green stuff.

Here are my favourite two, which I made at the same time using an AoBR dreadnought and a Death Company dreadnought kit. The sniper rifle is designed to disable Fallen dreadnoughts for interrogation

It's the little flaming warpstone knocker on the Skaven screaming bell. Skaven warpstone bits all make great pyrotechnic crunk for magic effects.

The reds were mechrite red, blood red, and P3 skorne red. Washes were Baal red, and Nuln oil.

Its just a stand in. I was waiting till the new dex came out to see if they could take wargear.

try using a DreadKnight Daemonhammer instead. they are pretty big and shoudl work for a DP.

At least i hope so, that's what i ordered one for!

They are just the regular grey knight terminators with a little work done to them and maxmini shoulders, you can get a better look at them on page 100 b4 they were painted.

I'm not getting what you're saying, but I rarely play, I model more for the fun of modelling. That said, no advantage was intended on my part, I just didn't like the Forgeworld one based on the Leman Russ hull, I like the Chimera hull better is all.

Thanks! The head/heads is indeed from the defiler, but I added green stuff to it as it didn't cover the neck. The skull mask is underneath that one with the eyes painted gloss red, so in person whatever way you turn it the eyes kinda glow.

Looks like it's a Land Raider Redeemer sponson.

Here is my Chaos Lord on Juggernaught. I know, I know... "You can't have a terminator on a mount, blahblahblah...", but that's the way I made it and it just counts as having regular Power Armor in gameplay.

And this is my "Centycore" Chaos Rhino / Vindicator! Just finished the paintjob, now all that is left is the finishing spray and gloss touch-up!
