Bloody hell just caught up with the 15 or so pages since I was last here.
Some interesting projects (and some debatablely interesting spam...) As for the cult of Riverteers (the church) I have some spare bits that I could make something interesting of... If you would like another steampunk rivet worshipper
LOL.... i had the same thought... all his exclamation marks...lol...
at dave... sorry dude... in a quiet moment today i thought...hey...why not open up the straw assortment with those nice connectors...? well... they are all rubber...really i tried them out... made a big (money...you are totally right... you cant create any really big structures with those few...) something of all and well then i saw...soft, rubbery and squishy rubber stuff... good for you to use the straws and not have any juice splottering around...but hobbywise a total fail... if you are still interrested i can still ship them tho...
the only time my wife gets nowadays interested in what i do is when i am searching for pics... to answer a comment...or to do some picture research for my hobby... then she tends to ask: do you look for pics for your army men?... sounds sweet and all...but sometimes i feel a hint of something else^^
at shrike:

ah....they grow up so fast....today they are still toddlers and faster than you think they are sex-crazed teens....
at jake... well you got it right...you have to have standards... otherwise where would be the point...er....rivet....^^
it is funny how you peeps react to some innocent packaging... ok i admit...the look of that girl is safe to say no flirting involved^^ and after you pointed all out what sinister thought might hav crossed her mind.... creepy...now i think i will hide the box...^^
er...oh yeah...update...someone was asking for rivets...also rawson wanted his hatshild...check... and some other stuff added as well...see for yourself...:
note i have skipped the doctor mirror idea for now... couldn´t figure out how do it properly atm...maybe later on i will give it some thought tho...
cheers, vik

of course mate! show us your rivets and you can worship for all what it is worth^^
More just a little mix and match of Empire and IG stuff. A little Kit bash to keep my mind from wandering. But thought it would be fun to do something a little different from the puppets, before I move...
Free time is pretty much down the drain for now- 4 or so hours of coursework due in thursday, plus another load after that, plus important texts in april/may means lots of revision...
I think late march/early april will be the next time I'm actually buying anything model-related, so you'll have to wait until then ^^
Oh yeah I honestly forgot about that, I'll try and take pics once the squad I'm painting ATM is finished (I'll try and get most of my existing army painted by the end of next week (about 25 or so men)
Well over the next week I have at least 2 hour of painting work, which should get about 10 guys done, then if I get a bit of hobbytime in the weekend, that's a bit more... it's just a matter of 5 minutes here while I'm waiting for the laptop to start up, a few there while I'm waiting for a response from an email...
i can´t paint like that... i always have to set up everything and need to have fresh water and then have a moment of quiet... mind you glueing things to things and shaving, filing and sawing stuff...that i can do any time... just not painting...
Back on track nice job on the medic loving this guy he rocks, those cogs are cool good add and of course the rivets
Have to ask why do the ladies refer to them as little men, little plastic men, little soldiers ….
I tell her they are collectable or small works of art that need to be admired and respected …. she tells me they are toys and stop being a dick ….. arrrgh I love her
see? thats where being gay has so much more options... sexdrive , eating habbits and gaming habits for that matter all shared... tho i can´t imagine myself ever giving someone a kiss who "wields" a moustache...

You have a strange outlook Vik Very strange …….. But I like it so how strange does that make me
at max:
oh he is getting soon a second AND a third arm even... he had visited a shop and made a bargain buy at an armssayle...hurhur...
no seriously... he has one servitor arm...as seen above and gets now a buzzsaw arm and later on a drillarm is planned...wether or not one of theese will also have a small flamer attached remains to be seen...
at rawson:
but you do realise that the heatshield is next to not to be seen on that pic? and genie in a bottle...wow...i take that as a massive compliment^^
at shaso:
Sir! yes, Sir!!!
at LDD...
the answer to your question is: 23...wether you like it or not...get your calculator out and see for yourself...that sum is waterthight...no haggling allowed!
I checked out this thread because there is always great banter! Then what I will only refer to as "the moustache" posts began, and I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Let this be the last reference to said posts.
*ahem*
Can't wait to see what you do with the buz saw and drill arms Vic!
Viktor von Domm wrote:thanks the lord i am among likeminded freaks... otherwise i would have serious self doubts... but if we all fail together we can make it look like we´ve won actually^^
your quite welcome, seeing as Dave has 3 ( 1 being super paraphrased), Rawson has one too mentioning you, so now you can join the magical party that is my sig
What about a selection of attachments on his back, this way he could alter the required tooling need for the repair, plus you could get away with adding just one other arm, leaving space for some kind of defence weapon being added.
Ovion wrote:A flamer of some sort on the other side to the arm?
Yes, I thought you had mentioned a flamer all ready Vik
Tool rack that was the word I could not think of but yes you get the idea then, gives some creativity plus it will not over load him.
Vik I have to say since reading back through your thread, I have become inspired to create a steam punk themed guard army my self "Dam you Vik"
I starting scouting about across the net for steam punk stuff and was like wood, steam, iron, laser and of course RIVETS LOTS OF RIVETS !!!!! how cool.
I will give this ago as a side project (one of many) but only using my current stock of unused models and bits.
that would be a nice project in your hands... in fact i think the time is quite ripe for more armies in a steampunk setting... have you thouht in wich setting you want to place your army? a britsh inspired like mine? you could also go all pickelhaube and flourishing big moustaches on your guardsmen^^ ... or heck why not make something like chineese or arabic guardsmen in steampunk? of course...pithhelemts are always something that creep in on such projects^^
Well, you don't want the Khaddies to bloody well outshine the Viktorians in putting units out there, after all, they are not refined, nor Gentlemanly fighters, they are rough and brutal collectivists!
wwhoa...that would be a productivity my chaps can´t reproduce as steampunk tech is handmade...no assembly line construction possible... it´s all tinkering and riveting...^^
I like the idea of one "multi-purpose" arm with different attachments!
And maybe just a spotlight on a smaller arm for the "operating lights"?
And who says robots don't bleed? I think some hydraulic fluids turn blood red when it is old and used! ( I don't know enough about them to say that all are, anyone know for sure?)
You could have a couple spatters of "arterial" red, mixed with a bit of brown, kind of streaked down the front of the "medic" like it's very oily!

A picture of someone pouring hydaulic fluid:
I believe they add dye to help distinguish the different oil types, also to help detect leaks.
mxwllmdr wrote:As for the light, If Vik doesn't have it in the inventory he can make it......
go onto google and type "french military victories", then click on "I'm feeling lucky".
and please tell me you have some kind of catapult that launches livestock?
No, it is not something you would want to try. I worked with a hydaulic powered tractor/robot one year on a road crew. You'd be chugging along and all of a sudden it was raining this greasy, oily stuff that would take days to get the taste out of your mouth! Yuck! But that stuff was a clear yellowish color, hence why I didn't think all of them were red. Adding dye would have helped on the robot I worked with. When it was raining already, it might take 10 minutes to realize why the robot was going off track! Of course, the fact that your rain coat was shedding water like a duck helped, but you don't always look at your rain coat at 3 in the morning.
Anyway, I think having hydraulic fluid or just plain oil running down the medic robot's front would look good!
that pouring guy looks almost like steve buscemi to me...then i guess that stuff is something nasty^^
and yep... for this build i either use stuff and deform it, or use rawmaterials like styrene and PC... i want to try to get everything done without adding bitz... so scratchbuilt searchlight is coming tomorrow on the to do list... and i think i go for shouldermounted one...
by the way...added arms....:
the right arm currently is missing a digit...and also i have thought about leaving it free...so that it better shows the ability to grab new tools from the rack...
the left arm has a giant buzzsaw...well actually it is just a big cog from an old rewinder toy...chopped and mounted...
and till the painting begins i have to poner about that speckled front of medich...we´ll see about that...
hmmm... i need to try that out... but as i said before no bitz... so i need to figure out how to scratchbuild a flamer... froms and shapes ...nice drawing ovion by the way!!!
I am sure you could scratch build a flamer no problem The main part that makes it look like the flamer is the ... well not sure what it is technically, but the bit full of holes at the hot burny end.
ok... will later show what i have done already...heatshiled i did and pilot flame thingy too... so now i am troubling myself with the mount and the flamable fluid keg...and then a small pipe for the suply...
actually i have started to fear that too... i am in a state of self doubt now...hmmm... maybe i will PVA glue it on later and use this mockup for you all to decide...
I would think that it would be easy to make it too busy. I like the mock up that put up but perhaps the flamer could be a shoulder fired job that has the capability of folding back onto the back of the bot for storage?
well... i made a flamer...check... and i made a searchlight...or a possible surgical lamp didnt made it into the final version... also i have yet to decide if i make more tools for the rak LDD and i talked about... the mini is really in desperate danger to be busy as hell...
well thats if you want to run em as FW models, normal IG only allows 1 medic per CCS although for the medics assistant, it could count as a bodyguard, or something like that
hmmm...bodygard...sounds good...like a warden then? someone to hold the patient secure while the buzzsaw is screeching through bone and such things...^^

though the guard quartermaster is a sweet model, and would be an epic pose for a commissar....

^ well rules wise, medics arnt "medics" their medic powers just give you some nice saving throws. but i think they can only be taken as part of a CCS though
Why not just build a WALLE type thing chugging behind him carrying the tools and a small fuel container that way he is just part of the mini but still separate

hell everybody is entitled to say his opinion and give suggestions here...
this is a democracy here... one man, one vote...(= me...one vote...mine)
the thing is antanti-Semitism is so widely spread over the world...in every social level it is seen... many famous writers or composer are known for that way of thinking... to name but a few...Wagner, Wilhelm Busch...
it is all something a certain kind of upbringing caused... disney i think fits into this quite good... and before someone gets a cramp...i am of jewish heritage... and i am seriously having no anti jew bone inside me... but i dislike disney production for the singing and the unhealthy amount of cheerfulness...really it is most unnatural...
yea.. but you know what.. i will openly say i like Mel Gibson alot.. im not watching his movies to hear his personal hatred for jews, just for entertainment. now if hitler made a good movie i think i WOULD have to not like him, because well hes Hitler. But i liked Braveheart, and many of his other movies
aye... as for good mel gibson movies... i just watched lethal weapon... the first one... nobody can play a maniac like mel...
as much as i want to keep with that discussion at this point...i need a bit of sleep now... or next move from me will be to extract some keys from my nose tomorrow^^
round and round it goes where it stops nobody knows.
and yes brave heart is brilliant.
can i take your daughter out for a ride?
in this weather?
well it's typical Scottish weather the rain is coming down strait down , well with an slight angle.
brilliant piece of dialogue in there.
but on the matter of religion no one said it better than Voltaire.
"i may not agree too what you are saying. but i will fight to the death your right to say it"

i just quoted that again so that it may be read again...
and now i bid you all a good night! man this thread had some crazy turns today^^ and it closed with a very good quote...here again:
Voltaire
"i may not agree too what you are saying. but i will fight to the death your right to say it"
Well I dont believe in religion, however I do believe every one has a right to their own beliefs ……. After all their must be something after this thing we call life.
Now I say we hold a emergency disciplinary hearing regarding the behavior of junior member LDD. He has clearly violated rule 42 of page 42 of the rule book subsection F paragraph 7 of the League rule book and it is nigh time to deal with this emergency, and since we are having such a meeting, it is also time to put the kettle on!
Eyelids to be riveted shut with bio-degradable rivets that will let him open his eyes an in a few weeks, and fingers encased in a solid block of acrylic for a similar period?
monkeytroll wrote:Eyelids to be riveted shut with bio-degradable rivets that will let him open his eyes an in a few weeks, and fingers encased in a solid block of acrylic for a similar period?
Kettle's on
Gotta vote for that sort of thing, and very well, we will all need something with oomph to it. Earl Grey or Oolong? Oh and the rulebook also recommends being beaten with herrings, North Atlantic variety
All out of Oolong at the moment but plenty of Earl Grey. Also plenty of English Breakfast and Assam, or some Darjeeling for those wanted a lighter taste.
And yes, you're quite right, herring smacking is probably the order of the day. Slightly grumpy and may have been a little harsh with that sentence for a first offence.
No worries, but the casing of hands in acrylic blocks does mean he will need an assistant for eating/washing/dressing, and bathroom duties. Now to find the large Atlantic Herring, fresh off the boat and about say around 40cm.
well...if all else fails...we could hang you by your ears on the washingline with cloth pegs...it´s what my mum did with our teddies...yeah she was a mean woman...^^
tho i think the woodcutting with a hering has a nice educational touch... we should keep that on the hind brain for future needs...
the medic still seems to create a sort of "want-not" field around him as he partly tends to fall apart... i glued several parts on and on again... the non sawblade hand is now a totally new one... and tomorrow i will hopefully show you howthis turned out... looks to me like a tinopener...
also the head now will undergo major transformations... it fell off, got glued lopsided looked ugly and got ripped off again... now i need to make a new one... any suggestions for design?
well anyways... i hope i can provide some new updates tomorrow...it is desperatly needed to get that thread back on the right track^^
why didn´t i think of a facemask myself? good idea right there... and it helps me to not model a stupid smiling mouth on the head!
and now that i reread your comment...wleders mask is even better... would hide the whole face and only have the slit for the eyes... good call on that...
like so:
and it would give me the oportunity to add ribvets to the head as well... would give him a bit of a frank n. stein look^^
hmmm... well painting that is a totally different issue all together^^...and one i hopefully will do this week too... need to get a bit away from all this modeling...
Automatically Appended Next Post: well...hopefully this won´t be an auto added post...
here it is...the new non-shiney mdeich with his all new welders mask! with rivets...
also behold the tincanopener pattern hand...^^
i call this model now done... it will go like all my recent works to primer city^^ and hopefully be ready to get some paint on them during the fresh week^^
The Medics new head is looking very smart Vick. While at work on Saturday night I had a coffee and eyed up the coffee stirrers …. But I have no plans for a track at the moment, but I know where to get them if I need them lol. Also on Saturday we were in Mother Care looking at the toys and I came across a great toy for all the budding children of League members, or possibly as inspiration for Vick
He looks just like the awesome robots that you are making; I think that you may have surveillance equipment in your house. Someone is stealing your ideas!!
lol...that can work both ways... i think this one here is perfect for a commander... of course with a powerweapon and a nice handheld flamer^^ and i even have the legs already^^
the thing to make treads by yourself...it isn´t really that difficvult... the trick is to have a thin sheat/strip of styrene/PC that serves as a kind of transport belt for the then added pieces of cut to size stirrers... it is so easy that even i could do it^^ from the current build the tracks are the most sturdy^^
Automatically Appended Next Post: oh...by the way... at dave... i made this mask from the packaging of the rods you sent me... i use that stuff too as it is fully styrene and accept glue very well...!!!
Medich turned out nice, but for some reason I'm thinking about a welding torch on a servo-arm as a great addition to his tools... You know, welding mask cries for it
Oh, about the welding mask... I just found this on the internet:
lol...yeah it could very well count as a titan... i expect it to be on scale with FW stuff...
at not_u...lol...yeah like plasticcard camo in a totally new sense of the word camo^^
and thanks for the mask... the first tryx was rather horrible compared to the masked face^^
at LDD...thanks and i think a bit of sinister is what this a bit to cheerful group of smiling robots needs^^
as for the cog paintscheme... i have thought rather to make it like :
to use the models later in my british steampunk army... but if i go down your route they could form their own theme...hmmm....
and a titan...or well at least a knight is currently in the planning phase...
at shaso... hopefully i can do that even tonight...^^
at ishkatar... you are right... but i couldn´t do it convincingly... and i got a bit tired by the build...so i had to finish it now... want to start something new and not fiddle around something so long...
that mask i had seen too after i searched for the other pic shown by me... a very sick one^^ but serves a certain point^^
at LDD...thanks and i think a bit of sinister is what this a bit to cheerful group of smiling robots needs^^
as for the cog paintscheme... i have thought rather to make it like :
Not sure as to the colour scheme in this sense …. would you care to explain a little more …..
well i also ought to do a standard bearer... you hnted the idea to make one with a big flaring light...or one brought forth the idea to do a cogbased banner... if the latter i think that would be a good way of dealing with that idea...
well they are in general sense of schemes a rather simple breed... like simple paintjob necrons would be.. just drybrush metal over black primer...done..add details done whole... otherwise i have to find a new way to incorporate these colors to the scheme... and that brings me at a loss as to how to...
Automatically Appended Next Post: now that is a nice one not_u... looks very much like the imperial sign from star wars... i like it... i have to see about that... man... this whole thing grows ever so big^^

i like that idea... will have to see if i am able to make this work... iirc there were some robots in some tv series out there that looked that part... but the knowledge is too hazy for me atm...
and LDD... i think about that... of course all white would make it that much easier to have gore/oil and servo fluids spackeld all over...hmmm....

...so you have been spying on my desk again??? well get offa my lawn...^^ co seriously... i am currently playing around with an old bionicle headmask...
i try to make a knight out of that one... i don´t know if i am capable of seeing this through... for now it is just an excercise...

at ishkatar... see this is why i love this board...you learn something new each day^^
pics of the new head will follow tomorrow same with the hopefully dried and ready to paint rivetto crew ...
er....that mkes me ask one thing... i always thought brits call these jelly babies??? now gummybears was a new term for me... and boy... don´t you have some kind of work to do on your customized trukk^^ lol
hell... this opens up a new question... i remember back in childhood...some twenty or rather more years agao... we had blue gummy bears... do you have them still? they got erased due to all those nice and happy and healthy flavors and coloring of the sweets nowadays...bugger... i liked my sweet and crazy colored gummy animals...
I think so, though recently they've found a way around that problem- now smarties and skittles have blue sweets... though I think blue gummy bears are yet to resurrect ^^
oh...does that mean you are currently ill? if so...hope you are getting better soon... my wife is currently ill but goes to work...she is trying to be strong...well...it was not something i insisted to do...her decision...
at shrike... i think it was a dumb move without those artificial colors to make stuff like skittles and other sweets... my youngest son loves blue... and he has to grow up in a world without blue sweets... how cruel is that???

see...that mess of grey mass is the soon hopefully seeing a lick of paint crew of rivettos...:
and this is my current new build..."the Knight of Rivets"...
ok it is only a slight modifed bionicle head but hey^^ you gota start somehwre... and shaso! you bang to rights with your assumption of the rocketeer... i liked that look for quite a long time...tho technically this movie is more situated in the dieselpunk theme...
here are the pics...:
note the roughness of the mask... i had to file and rough the surface up a bit as the plastic glue and styrene didn´t bond that well to the sifter lego material... i want to make a "background" for the eyes...the first try fell off...so i think i will have to fill the eyes with putty... if you have any further ideas or helpfull stuff for making a knight...just gimme all your stuff^^...looking at you here max^^
