And I have 6 Phosphex bombs... I have a plan for them and it involves a Dreadnought and a saddle
You need to pay more attention. He said tomorrow
I'm all full of irony, but I had room for that snack.
I'm just struggling on a literal farewell in my outtro. I don't want to lay it on heavy, but likewise "Alright ttyl" is a bit brief for family members.
I wrote a bit of happy for Trisburg but also made it clear that despite working there, Reynard has no idea where Shepphard went.
Done. I'm aware that was not worth waiting for, but I gave it a go.
I've left a few things open - what positions amongst the crew the Histans occupied, which stayed where, and precise timescale. I also covered Fairfax being lazy not wanting to rule Trisburg because I think penitence and humility is a large part of his character at the moment. At the start of the campaign he'd have likely gone for it for his own entertainment.
There's a post-script, but it was too silly for the main topic.
Spoiler:
"Alright, Seneschal Selka. Now to hit the trade channels and finally find a buyer for those emperor-forsaken mushrooms."
"...What mushrooms?"
"...Garth, where are they?"
"You told me to send food supplies down to Trisburg, Lord Captain."
"You sent all of the mushrooms to Trisburg?"
"Not all of them, no. Some of them I gave to the Histans as a parting gift. They were quite keen."
"..."
Kharne, I'm assuming it will have a general description of Crion and the moons, as well as a vox transmission requesting for Imperial troops? I like that in the first crusade's beginnings that the various factions had a small vox message saying who they were and what they were up to. It added some background and atmosphere to it, and was definitely a nice touch.
Edward appreciated them.
But Reynard's questionable decision to send the psykers to go and collect them (and get them away from the planet that caused migraines) meant that Selka couldn't be tested after his attack. As he cant boot Reynard up the ass, he took it out by trolling everyone with mushrooms.
And yes I believe we are waiting for TS to reply so there's insurance on the topic.
Sgt_Smudge wrote: Love the last section, your humanistic writing is wonderful, BC.
I'm gonna be honest and say I got a bit upset writing for Ed and Reynard, because I've been there. A decade ago, I was engaged to an Australian who had to go home, with no set timescale. The world seemed very big back then, the Internet has made it smaller.
Should I post my Knights sending out a response to the distress call in addition to the intro I'm already writing? Or should I just try and include it in the intro itself?
I am going to get my RT piece up ASAP after TS, because I block Blackjack off if I don't, but it's not my entire intro. Pacing is way less rushed for me this time.
2BlackJack1 wrote: No, it was established that we wait for both GM's. Also, should I repost the Kroot intro in the two parts I wrote it in, or a giant glob?

Post whatever you have as one thing. You do not need to change it to accommodate the original post. At this point, we need everyone's intro so we can at least take a head count.
Alright, I'll post it with spoilers for both parts. It'd be rather lengthy with it crammed together (not CoF finale lengthy, but still big), so I was hesitant about making it one piece.
Do we have specific people we should pm for rolls later on? I know we had started by saying TS for Imperium and Chazz for xenos/chaos, but is that what we are going with?
Work has resumed on the lengthy Knight intro. Any Imperial commanders who I haven't already posted up the paragraph for in this thread, let me know if you still want your guys to make an appearance. I'm working on your paragraph as we speak 2BJ1.
I think I still have to do:
Chazz (if he wishes to make an appearance)
Vanden
Might have Irish's Captain make another appearance, but I'm undecided on that.
Just pretend that Blackjack's intro happens after mine. I'm too sick today to get the Admech part done, but the first half has been ready longer than I'd care to admit.
WK I think you were waiting on me, there's little changed appearance wise. It's just titles differ (and demeanor).

I've been writing so many paragraphs my mind has started to go a little bit. I completely forgot who I still needed to write for. And I need to track down 2BJ1's description of his Kroot again.

I would suggest hitting me up when you want to roll for something...
The latest episode of my fethin' intro. Got a bit stuck on 2BJ's, so I wrote Vanden's
Spoiler:
Suddenly she felt a presence behind her, and she whirled around with her hand going around the hilt of her saber. As she completed her turn she noticed that she was staring at a golden Aquila on the chest plate of a suit of power armor. Glancing upwards she was treated to the site of a skull-faced helm staring back at her. Just staring at the helmet filled Moira with a sense of dread. As if she was staring Death itself in the face. She paused to take a deep breath. She had nothing to fear from this man. After a moment she said “Chaplain Benturas I presume?” The Marine paused, as if he was taken aback that this woman knew who he was even with his face covered by his helmet. Then he began to laugh, the sound resembled two boulders grinding together, Moira thought idly as the Marine moved to remove his helmet. As he did so Moira took the opportunity to examine him. His hair was jet black, almost as if someone had taken the night sky and used it to dye his hair, but it was shot through with grey strands, indicating that he was older than he appeared. He had a scar across his left eye, as if a blade had narrowly missed taking his eye out. He outwardly projected a gruff appearance, but Moira had the feeling that there was more to him than that. After clipping his helmet to his belt the Chaplain finally responded “Aye, and I presume you are High Queen Moira?” She nodded. After a moment he continued “I will be the representative of my Chapter in this Crusade, so if you wish to talk to my brothers all you need to do is contact me.” She nodded again and then responded “If you wish to talk to me or my kin you may go through my sister Amanda, she is my chosen representative, and my champion in this Crusade.” Moira glanced over her shoulder at Falkon, to see what he thought about this new arrival. Over the years since he had agreed to sign on with House Valorn as an armsmen she had grown to trust his opinion implicitly, and he had become one of her closest confidants in all things. Of course, some had whispered that he must be her consort, for why else would she spend so much time with someone who was not a Noble? That couldn’t be further from the truth; however, for Moira knew that Sera had feelings for Falkon, and she suspected that he returned them. Her poor sister was like an open book sometimes, and the fact that Falkon seemed unaware of Sera’s feelings was baffling to her. She snapped back to reality just in time to see Falkon give her the nod of approval. He obviously trusted this Marine, and if he trusted him, then Moira would to. She continued to talk to the Chaplain for another couple of minutes before he walked off to join his brothers in the stands. He was a gruff man, she could tell that now, and getting him to talk to her was like trying to squeeze water out of a rock, but she had a feeling that was just his way. There was plenty of time to secure an alliance with his Chapter later. Right now she had bigger fish to fry.
A note appearance wise, WK - I always say that House Fairfax wear and are decorated in house colours. It's come to my attention that I didn't ever explain what they were.
Let's just continue that tradition as it tickles me and I'm indecisive.
Ed is over 6', dark hair and eyes, tired but friendly looking and dressed neatly. Appears to be in his 30s.
Selka is about 3/4 his height, standard Commissariat gear but now wears a house colour sash to denote the dual allegiance. Grey/ice coloured eyes and mixed black and grey hair. Permanent scowl when on duty. Very hard to pin down an age due to scarring and demeanor but mid 30s to early 50s. In reality in his late 30s.
The aide that follows them is a psyker in deep green robes, who won't speak unless spoken to, and responds in a quiet female voice. Her name is Angela. She's mostly there because Selka is great at remembering, but terrible at writing things down for others to follow.
I guess that makes sense, though the part that everyone goes down to the planet and then goes up again and then comes down again to deploy is hilarious.
It'd be easy enough for some to say the troops are setting up in absence of the leaders, to be fair. My guys are building igloos, they don't need supervision.
As I just said WK, we could simply say that Mom and Dad are out and the kids are making camp. So long as nobody gets further ahead than that or starts exploring. Gives something to write on without being silly?
Buttery Commissar wrote: As I just said WK, we could simply say that Mom and Dad are out and the kids are making camp. So long as nobody gets further ahead than that or starts exploring. Gives something to write on without being silly?
Well, Ta'lok would only bring Lo'kai and Kai'lo to any meetings, so that should save some work for you. Most of the others either don't like meetings, have their own issues (Grulkin being Grulkin means that he would wander off to find something to fight, and Seri is a sadist and won't get along well with most others. I haven't expanded on it much yet, but my plan was to have her ancestry involve a bit too much DE hunting, and their personalities carried over onto Seri), and one of them is a fething dog, so ya know, there's that.
Ta'lok: Polite, honorable, honest. Tall, though I can't give an exact height (mostly because I don't know myself, but also because Kroot don't stand up straight, they kinda crouch in their stance) Grulkin is taller though, and he's eight feet tall.
Kai'lo: Shorter, and winged. Won't do much but stand guard and carry a spear around.
Lo'kai: Taller than Kai'lo by a few inches, also winged. Will only speak when addressed first, and will be formal to them, and try to hold onto the conversation until Ta'lok can take over.
Buttery Commissar wrote: As I just said WK, we could simply say that Mom and Dad are out and the kids are making camp. So long as nobody gets further ahead than that or starts exploring. Gives something to write on without being silly?
We wouldnt want to make camp in different continents though, it would be nice to have all the imperials in one place...Makes it harder to get picked off...
I think most people picked out destinations already. But it could just as easily be part of your intro, Vanden, that you wait until the meeting for that reason. It's sensible.
Technically, everyone can set up camp, but the leaders won't be there. I think it'd be strange if the rest if the army didn't have something to do while the leaders watched two knights beat the snot out of each other. (With a betting pool on the side, courtesy of Ta'lok. Get the bets while they're fresh folks!)
You should be fine, Evergreen. I don't think your Swarmlord got an invitation.

I would like to note that Crion isn't exactly earth-sized. I would gauge the moons to be near the size of mars.
Just so you guys know, I'm only really having your main commander talk. If you bring companions they'll most likely just stand there politely. I don't have the patience or the inclination to write up that many conversations.
So, my Tau aren't invited to this meeting, and I doubt it would effect anyone if I did deploy. Just landing the troops and setting ground rules for the Cadre.

Selka is more likely to talk than Ed: partly because he's a jerk, but mostly because as Seneschal he acts as front of house for the captain. Somewhere between bodyguard, maitre de and spokesman.
That said if you don't want to write good tempted snark, Ed certainly has a mouth of his own.
Edit: Loving the intro, Vanden. And what I'm guessing is a nod to the bizarre dialogue at the start of Space Marine.
Update: I'm nearly done with the intro (finally), I just have to write up the actual duel itself, and Chazz's leaders if he wants them to make an appearance at the duel. It's currently standing at 5047 words, not nearly as big as Smudge's masterpiece, but a lot considering I normally write really short blurbs.

Bugger, you saw through my elaborate ruse...And yea, most of my intros are either derived from the Ultramarine omnibus, Legion of the Damned or Space Marine.
That intro has been like 3 months in the making. TS and I started out discussing a duel, and then it turned into that monstrosity. The flying Necron was mine and Kharne's idea, and it was a sort of nod to my UK and Aussie friends who have football (what us Yanks call Soccer). Don't ask about his shirt though. Can't explain that
I've got a couple questions that might play well with plot.
EoN, would the Flayed Lord remember the gift Kageros sent him?
Smudge, your Tau reject the Greater Good as do my Tau. My Earth Caste workers are going to be accompanied by Commander Tach'Var. Maybe we can work out something interesting.
I want to say great writing everyone! I look forward to this next crusade!
I should have the Carcharodons intro up either tonight, or tomorrow morning
Hey I want to add an Icon for everyone's force on the map If any of you guys have a specific image they'd like me to use I'd appreciate it if you can PM me
Oh and in that PM I'd appreciate it if you can tell me where you are on the map
If I messed up on something I apologize. I was in a rush to finish it so everyone else could carry on with their blurbs. It's been a stressful week for me and I just made a final push to get everything done. Sorry if I fethed something up
Your need to have continuity has meant that my characters have somehow all suddenly met one another and gone to a party without me getting to write about them.
I'm not upset because it may have been a few days before I had time to. I'm just hoping that things slow down enough for me to you know, write things.
What I can do is edit my older post and back date the intro, but it'll mean there is no notification for the topic.
Buttery Commissar wrote: Your need to have continuity has meant that my characters have somehow all suddenly met one another and gone to a party without me getting to write about them.
I didn't say WK had to post it, I just said "No one post about being on Crion till the duel is up." Maybe we need more communication between the writer and the GM
It's done now, not really an issue for anyone else.
I just kinda miss the pacing as things were when I joined CoF1, before the end was rushing upon us, it was pretty relaxed.

I am very tempted about making a "two posts per week" rule. Quality > Quantity
You're still not addressing the points people made. How many times does someone have to bring up that the main issue is a lack of communication. A simple response of "ok, I see that having a post limit isn't going to sit well with the crusaders. It won't happen" would work.
How about instead of trying to press ideas onto other people, one could try putting them into the form of a suggestion? You pushed continuity onto other people, and caused a lack of it, considering the AM never even got their intro, and the RT haven't physically met people they are working with.
Now, I'm tired of having to reword the same complaint of a lack of communication, so can we please have an intervention or something, anything really, where people can progress with this debate, instead of going in circles about it?

I pushed nothing. I said, "Don't post about Crion until WK posts about the duel." WK told me he was busy AF so I didn't expect the duel for a few days.
Oh for the love of the Emperor, I leave the thread for 5 seconds and this is what happens.
Since we're still having problems communicating properly with one another, I'll go ahead and set an example;
At the moment, I'm writing an intro for the Remnants. It's progressing slowly, mostly because I got inspired to write about a more evil, scarier Chaos Space Marine "warband", mostly to serve as the moral opposite of the Remnants. If it's okay with you guys, I'd like to add them to the Crusade as a small sub-faction.
Also, as a way of... motivating you to stop arguing until the end of days, I will have the Sorcerer (or the evil bastard I'm in the process of writing about) stomp a puppy for every time this discussion pops up again.

A cute puppy.
A very cute puppy.
My allies are sometimes called the Space Puppies. I would refrain from stomping them unless you want a bunch of angry Imperial Knights on your case. Even your Remnants aren't immune to being crushed in a gravity singularity

Unless your Knight pilot is secretly an Alpha Legionaire
My marines frown on such animal cruelty, each puppy you slay my marines will train two more. Be prepared for an army of pissed off dogs coming your way soon.
Alright. I'm still writing up something for my orks. I don't have any real clue where to go with my Kroot right now. Since I'm having some deploy on Governor's Mansion as well, I might try to talk to him to negotiate some sort of contract. That will wait until after my orks though, so I'm not sure how long it will be until I get a roll out to you for that, Chazz.
I'm not working on anything. I'm a bit burned out after rushing the duel and the rest of my Knight intro. Give me a few days and I'll go talk to Jhe about our diplomatic efforts

Well Wotan mission Isa wolf one, so no worries, we can do it minus knights. Plus, well, wolves have matching culture.

You can bring a Knight along and include them in it. You don't necessarily need me to write it. I have full faith that you can write about a Knight. Think of it as an opportunity for the Couple's Crusade . Bring Amanda along
Thanks. It turns out I had less work to do on the intro than I thought. Not sure what they're plan of business will be. Probably feth with the feral orks that are on their deployment sight. Maybe get some recruits, maybe just kill them.
So I'll probably be sending TS and Chazz PM's at once. Knowing me, I'll probably send the wrong PM to the wrong GM somewhere down the line.
I like the intro 2BJ, Its very...Orky...Can't wait to beat them on the battlefield. Another Ork head for another wall aboard the 'Lex Calisum'! (My battle barge)
Do me a favor, would you? Bring some relic weaponry to the fight. It's much easier to loot something if I don't have to rummage through a ship to find it all. (Although the ship is still accepted loot). Thank you, in advance.
Send a pm to the gm of your planet/moon.(TS has moons, chazz has planet) Generally say what you wanted to do(I wanted to scout this place, I attack this place with this, etc.), and give a number 1-100.
No, but seriously: PM Chazz with what you're trying to do, and a number between 1 and 100. He'll roll at his end, and how close you are to the number determines how successful you are at whatever it is you're attempting.
Asides from the fact that he's eight feet tall, I'm tempted to make Grulkin be a very good wall climber, if not the direct ability to stick to walls. (Explained through prior DNA consumption from ancestors and that Kroot release oily substances with varying properties, and one of them could very well be an adhesion to walls)

My EC are not joining until mid campaign, and I'll provide at the time.
I've started a job and don't have time to write for them yet.
Posted more about Faolan, intoduced some characters, we will get to Crion eventually. Rolled a minor victory against some stragglers on the isles of pratt, not too bad. Next peice of writing will be about my marines clearing them out and setiing us a command center.
Well, I've already messaged TS about this so I'll also say it here, I'm pulling out of the crusade because I need time to study (maths, chemistry and physics, the bane of my existance ).
I'm going to post my ending once I receive confirmation from TS so at least I can say I made a full story arch into the Crusade (I haven't even landed anywhere thought ).
Sorry. If/once I get more time maybe I'll rejoin. Still, I will try and keep reading what you people do, and maybe get over my lurker nature and comment on it .
Also, congratulations BC, let's hope this new job doesn't add to your posts in the "FLGS horror stores" thread thougth.

The Lord Governor will be holding a banquet at his mansion on Crion to honor the new forces that have come to restore order to his world. Since the Imperials are largely ignorant as to what exactly plagues Crion it would be wise to attend. It would be a forum to discuss strategy and what not and who should focus their attention where.

You don't mean Lord Eissel with 'Lord Governor', right?
Because I'm afraid he caught a nasty case of dead, courtesy of TheEyeOfNight
No that was just some hive governor, nobles like him are a dime a dozen. I guess that makes your regular I imperial citizen a nickel for a million

I'm going to space out dialogu a little more and try color coding characters.
Kinda like this:
Character A and Character B walked into the room.
"Hows it going?"
"Blood for the Blood God."
"Good to hear!"
Would that be ok? Should I do this or no?
I think that is fine. It would make it easier to see who is talking.

I too find that easier, but still write it normally. That way any colourblind folk can read it without having to guess the colours

Please don't. I'm one of the people who has issues with colours.
Everyone else copes pretty well by just using spacing and names. I sometimes use italics.

Oh, sorry man, will remove the colors
No apologies needed, if you really like doing it I can always use a low fi dakka to read it, I think.
I choose to stay away from the overprived goodness of FW. ATM im looking for a Battlefleet Gothic Fleet, but i cant find any a t a decentish price so eh....
Edit: The colour coding si useful, and i can clearly tell whos talking, but tbh, I was almost blinded the first time i saw it XD...but for the sake of the colourblind people out there, I think you should make it more apparent without colours. Meaning no offense of course, im just think of the other people here.

I was talking to BC about it, That's why I made sure to exclude the color green

Oh, righty then, It is good.
Plus I liked the reference to the trees...
P.S. I got the Monolith and the paint job shall begin the moment i finish my Overlord. I'll post it when I'm done.
Hope you don't mind Kharne but I'm writing a blurb about my Eldar creeping on yo' base. I don't know if I had to roll for it, because I wasn't actually taking an action against you, but I wanted my Eldar to actually know you were there, and be a tad worried about that whole thing. Maybe that thing you saw wasn't a tree......

That would be cool!
You could have them looking at Exitar and Taranis and Ogun walk around, and that would explain why Artemis thought he saw something
If I wanted to post something, but didnt want everybody else to know what the feth i was saying, do i just PM chazz or TS for the background info into it?
Plz tell me, cause i got a really sweet piece i wrote in my boredom and it came out really nice.
I have another piece written which basically catches my marines up to speed, gonna wait until like tomorrow to post as i read over it i may improve it in certain areas. That and the fact that i posted yesterday aswell.
