I just played the first part of Project Brazil. It's really good, there are some things that are a bit buggy, but it's super high quality for a fan-made thing.

Currently i think i have video game ADD. No game feels very appealing right now. I've been playing shadowrun returns dragonfall but then switched to Grey Goo. The human and Beta factions are super similar except in base building.

Personally i can't wait for 'Act of Aggression' since it seems like 'Act of War' and i never got to play 'Act of War'. Then there's 'Total War: warhammer' which couldn't disappoint me worse than 'Age of Sigmar' has for fantasy.

Right now i'm wondering if i should try Galactic Civilizations 3 or maybe Xcom: enemy within again. If i go for xcom my neighbors will know because of all the loud cursing i'll be doing.

It'd be hilarious to try out stealth archer again in skyrim. I should just hide in some shadows and pick off guards randomly if i get bored. Wonder if they'd even notice. The funniest thing to do is take a stealth potion and gear and fight a dragon with it. The dragon won't be able to find you and usually they're the best at spotting you. It's totally possible to shoot a dragon via stealth until it goes down and wracking up stealth criticals while doing so.

I always thought one-shotting the giants with a dagger was amusing. Or max stealth where you do the pooch shadow thing in the middle of a pitched fight was kind of hilarious.

When I start tagging guards out of boredom I usually try to step back and reassess if I should be playing another game .

There was a mod that added in needs like water and food, one of the additions allowed wood elves to be cannibals and harvest people for meat. The cool thing is that gives you two damage granted items so you can always have poison wee.

A magic assassin that abused daggers, invisibility and sneak is the most fun character I have ever played in any RPG. You can just waltz straight into a room of hostile NPC's, and proceed to slit all of their throats one by one.

Took a long time though to earn enough perks to make the build work, assuming you're not cheating. I used to go a certain Dwemer ruin with a burst steam pipe, cast the constant effect healing spell and used the Atronach spell absorption standing stone to recharge my magicka. Then I'd just tape the triggers on my Xbox controller down and go paint some miniatures.

Playing the Witcher 3 and ARK, enjoying both so far. Cant spend as much time on them and should probably just focus on one, but where is the fun in that? Besides, ARK is just like the Witcher but with bigger monsters and guns

Doom 3. Again. Partly E3's fault. Partly due to me painting my way through the Doom board game I picked up at a bring and buy last year.

It's a pretty good game! Have fun!

Oh, and here's a few tips:

- You won't be able to join the armies without fame. You can increase your fame by fighting in tournaments, doing work for lords, and winning battles. You could also join an army as mercenary work, but the nation will have to be looking for mercenaries in order for you to join.

- There are some pretty cool mods out there. I know there's one for Lord of the Rings ("The third age" or something like that), Game of Thrones ("A clash of kings"), and Warhammer Fantasy ("Warsword conquest")

- You'll need money for your armies. One rewarding but risky way to get money is to go to a nation's towns, and loot the whole thing. Keep in mind, the kingdom's lords will hunt you down if they spot you and early in the game, they WILL overpower you. Looting towns away from castles should decrease your chances of being chased by a lord.

There was a thread on that game here a while ago which went on for a good few pages, so you may want to look into that for tips and mods to look out for. If you CBA reading this waffle at least go download Open BRF .

With the mods they're a mixed bag. A lot of the supposed good ones feel either incomplete or are just an asset free for all thrown together. Notably though if you're into the multiplayer, which admittedly isn't fantastic, there's the mods North and South (a mod of the Napoleonic Wars mod which changes the setting to the American Civil War and is overall more polished than the actual DLC) and Full Invasion (which has players defending a location against the enemy as they play as various factions including 40K Imperial Guard, Roman Legions, WWI Troops, etc. ...Though you'll seriously only play something else other than the Japanese or Lord of the Rings fighting against villagers or Medieval Knights once in a blue moon. Its more casual than the other multiplayer mods, put easier to drop into given the randomness). I will say in regards to multiplayer, if you actually care about roleplaying or tactics go find a regiment (clan) to join. The public games are usually just a shambles of two sides slamming into each other and trolls, infrequently rounded up and crudely following the orders of a moderator.

But yes, as far as single player goes I'd recommend a few. Brytenwalda is what the Viking Wars DLC started out originally as. It lacks the story mode and some mechanics, but is more developed in terms of the armoury. Viking Wars is literally built upon that mod though, so if you play the mod first you'll notice a lot of similarities (as in particular quests are reused...).The Game of Thrones A Clash of Kings mod is fairly good. Of course it only follows the books up to the start of a Clash of Kings and carries on a few events from that and the following novels based on certain quests, so you may be at odds with it if you care about the canon too dearly. Overall though its definitely one of the more polished mods, with a load of additional story relevant quests for you to find .Gekokujo: The Japanese mod. Has a lot more polish and content than most, particularly in that it has appropriate animations for Katanas. Not much changed from Native from what I could see, but it didn't fail spectacularly either.

Mods I wouldn't recommend. Wait, hang on that list's too long. High rated mods which suck in my opinion. Perisno: the aforementioned "let's throw everything and anything together and call that a world" mod. Lots of things to do though, but the assets are all over the place (also its punishing for new players as there's far too many bandits and random 70 strong veteran groups who for no apparent reason want to kill you). The Third Age: Its a bit clunky, and has you spending a lot longer than Native recruiting troops (hope you have a fast horse to evade the enemy with...). Besides that the map's not super developed and it would have been nice had it expanded beyond the realms of the free peoples into Sauron's lands more. Anno Domini 1257: whilst not strictly a bad mod it falls foul of what a few mods, including Brytenwalda, do by having a massive map crowded with dozens of factions. The base game keeps it to a handful for a reason. One, so when you join a faction you aren't at war with literally thousands of enemy troops, and two, so you aren't spammed with update messages constantly (picture this. You receive an update for every siege, raided village or battle occurring on the map. Now picture hundreds of different armies and locations thrown together... You'll miss everything important in that mess). Warsword Conquest: the Warhammer one. Another throw random assets together and see what sticks mod. Balancing's a bit crap in this one too, and really its running on the setting over having much substance. 1860s Old America: Interesting setting. Mechanics are all right. Falls flat when it comes to the combat a bit though, in that the shooting has a 50/50 chance of actually working or your guys will just miss constantly. Its been updated since I last looked at it though, so it may be more polished. Special shout out to Requiem, the modern post-apocalyptic Zombie mod. Though it has potential I'd recommend you only download it for a quick look. Its an obvious Beta, with so much left unfinished. Like a lot of mods its probably abandoned now though.

Of course that's all just my opinion and IIRC all of the above mods can be found on Moddb. Importantly, and this is something that a lot of players don't seem to be aware of, download and learn how to use the Open BRF program if you intend to play as a female character. That allows you to open up the game's resources files and among other thing's has an option to convert armour which don't have a female mesh (which is a few in the vanilla game, even more so in the DLC and mods) to have one. Its something like right click the armour, go to select then "convert to female", though I'd hazard that this only works for the body, hands and feet slot. Don't try it on anything else or the program will crash. Though you can ctrl click or scroll click multiple items to make converting loads of sets easier. ...I say all this as if you do intend to play as a female character it'll become glaring around the time that she suddenly has a tiny head on the hulk's body the first time she puts on a set of armour just how much the developers/ modders give a damn about sexual equality (though hey the game does point out how odd it is to play a woman in the various settings...).

Spiel over.

I believe it was 15 levels, but you aren't supposed to complete them all in one go, unless you start it fairly high level.

The Witcher III is really fun, I haven't been too involved with the first two (I have them, but haven't really touched them) but I can get into the story and enjoy the mechanics of it.

As for Dark Souls II, it's not really my type of game, but I can see why others get into it.

Anyway, I've been making more progress on Blood Bowl, and have gotten far into Far Cry 4 and Arkham Knight, both of which I'm loving right now

Oh you will be pleased to know that you only have two more levels of Endless path to go, but the last two levels are abject frustration and hair pulling frustration. I am near the end of chapter 2 (at least I assume so) when I decided to do the blasted things. After meeting a vampire that was talking to me in an unknown language I decided to poke around the web. Oh look, I gain that knowledge in a particular part of the main quest... reload, back to questing, back to Old Nua. So far, so good, I hope I'm good enough for the last 2 levels, 14 and 15.

Had my first major setback in warband. I decided to attack some nords to try and get in with the people they were at war with, and they absolutely destroyed me. They had maybe 5 more people than me, but with my random assortment of units, it did not go as planned.

Nords are scary business. Their huscarls can do a ton of damage before going down, which is exactly why I tend to join them before making my own nation. The main problem with Nords though is that they move really slowly, having no mounted units. IMO, it's worth it to show up late but become a living wrecking ball when you do arrive.

Of course, I ended up fighting a group of ragtag enemies and watched a huscarl get killed by a forest bandit

Nords are broken as feth. I once made an extremely OP Nord character with 20+ strength and 10+ in power strike (was a,very high level). With a poleaxe, I could kill just about any NPC in one hit. Two hits if they had a shield (first strike shattered the shield). Ditto for horses (armoured horses taking 2-3 hits).

The sole purpose of my troops was to form a shield wall and act as a roadblock for the enemy, so I had enough space to swing my poleaxe. I often got more kills than the rest of my army combined.

As soon as you have finished your native run through I suggest the Prophesy Of Pendor mod - still in my mind the most complete and comprehensive mod, you can even make your own knighthood order (which I start as soon as I get my first castle granted to me) - just stay the hell away from elves till you are mid-late game, they wreck armies hard.

Position is a joke in half the fights in that game. You get your guys carefully set up so that you can block the enemy with a choke point...

And then the beetles "tunnel" (i.e. instantly teleport) over to your party's designated target (you know the one - the one party member who always gets attacked even if he or she spends the entire battle sitting in the corner twiddling his or her thumbs). Or the spirits teleport past your front line to hit the designated target, and clone themselves.

That's probably the thing I hate most about PoE.

As for the Endless Paths...

I've been working on it as I play sporadically. But I'm getting sick and tired of the locked doors that can't be picked and traps that can't be disarmed because they're too high level. I specifically went with a rogue class for my protagonist so that I could deal with the mechanical crap, and dumped all of my points into the skill for those tasks. And it's still not enough.

It's too bad. I find the plot interesting. But I *really* don't like the nuts and bolts of the game's system.

Endless Paths were good, but don't go to the last level unitl you're VERY high level. The endboss there is the hardest enemy in the game and easily one-hits a lvl 9 party.

Ally with the noldor. Capture their ranger parties, talk to each prisoner, release them until you get to a +20 relationship. Then you can go to their castle and recruit noldor troops.

Telltale's Game of Thrones. A new episode came out and I was looking for something decent to play. I've ran through the first two episodes of it now and its shaping up pretty well. I have most of their recent games, yet haven't managed to play any of them bar the first episode of The Walking Dead. What I've played of this series is encouraging though. ...Even if not knowing how choices will pan out, or even if they will at all, leaves me a bit disheartened (what the hell was that key for in episode 1...). Two episodes in though I can say that I'm noticing that the game's falling back on standard RPG mechanics of not being able to take a moderate position, rather unless you chose one of two approaches NPCs give you flak for being non-committal. Well excuse me if I don't want to sound like a dick with every word out of my mouth or if I don't want to just roll over all the time...

I bet by the end of the game all your player characters are dead, raped or ruined for life and not in any particular order.

I wish those witches would stop fellating the GoT cash cow and put some more effort into Tales from the Borderlands, instead of making us wait for months on end.

Yeah, another vote for Prophesy of Pendor. It's good stuff! Also, yes ally the Noldor.

Also find Qualis gems, find all the Qualis gems!

Mod adds more enjoyable repeatable quests/activities, roving factions that are effectively bandits but way stronger... The difference between having gear and not having gear is waaaay more noticeable, feels like playing an MMO and just starting out and running up against someone in raid gear... ouch. With no levels and poor equipment, you'll bounce off even similarly sized forces until you catch up.. but the plus side is that you can attain a level of personal power that mocks what you could do in Calradia. My armored archer rides around on a nearly immortal horse shrugging off all but the nastiest of crossbows shot by expert archers. He's a bit bowlegged when he gets to ground level but whenever I get back to it he's gonna find another handful of qualis gems to get a badass sword as well as a god-bow (the bow is literally a god that told me to use it to beat roving barbarins, no joke!).

Agreed. I finished the first couple of chapters of their GoT game, and then set it aside until after the full thing is released. There's no real payoff for playing the individual chapters. New Tales from the Borderlands chapters, however, would be played immediately - if they were releasing any. So far they've released five GoT chapters, but only two ToB chapters. And the first chapters of the games were released only a week apart.

"Yeah, it was a long wait, now shut up!" The first thing Marcus said when they finally released the second Tales of the Borderlands episode. Bleh I say, bleh.

Hopefully, when the GoT stuff is finally done they can focus on getting us the rest of ToB in a more timely fashion.

I'm playing the episodes the day they release, but I have no desire to replay them, unlike Life Is Srange (I have a pattern of playing each episode on the day of release, then replaying the entire game up to that episode, which I have repeated for all 5 episodes ). Playing the game just feels like a chore, but thats probably because I've been spoiled by Life Is Strange's rewind mechanic and I have a bad habit of quitting the game and reloading a checkpoint (often having to replay 5+ minutes) just because I changed my mind about a line of dialogue I chose. I really hate how Telltale games have a timer to force you to choose dialogue quickly.

The only character I'm becoming really invested in is Asher, and thats because I'm playing him as a cheeky bastard who flirts with anyone and everyone (including Daenerys Targaryen) and never backs down from a fight. (I had him head butt a morbidly obese Pit Fighter. )

Where GoT gets particularly annoying is when you pick a particular response option... and then belatedly realize that what the character is saying is completely different from what you thought they were going to say.

On another note, I've been playing around with Beyond Earth again. The Little Islands map is rather quirky to play on.

The player set-up distribution could use some work, though. It seems like all of the AI players are always distributed evenly around the map... except for the one who lands practically right on top of me, and complains every single time I complete an expedition or found a new colony (because I'm so close to his territory).

Also had an amusing situation the other day in which Elodie handed over four cities to get a peace treaty... and then immediately complained that my cities were too close to her territory.

/rolleyes

More xcom enemy within and more BS. I was doing fine had one country away from full panic and had a few unfortunate missions which killed off one of my vets for no ****ing reason and another which was a total waste as i lost the bomb disposal mission and had to leave a vet behind. If that wasn't bad enough everybody worth a **** was in medbay esp. my heavies when one day after bomb disposal failure i'm forced into a terror mission. Basically i face chrysallids in ridiculous numbers and have to deal with the threat of 2-3 impregnating civilians while the rest come at me with zombies everywhere. Once again only alien grenades so i was way, way ill equipped for this right now of all times. Personally i'd like whoever designed 3-4 missions within a 4-5 days timespan to be shot by firing squad.

Telltale's Game of Thrones. A new episode came out and I was looking for something decent to play. I've ran through the first two episodes of it now and its shaping up pretty well.

A little. But not very much.

You select every building that's built, aside from the shacks that the people build on their own if they can't live in something nicer that you built. You essentially run the economy, and determine whether your island's income comes from tourism, industry, sucking up to the foreign powers, etc... The game requires balancing the various factions - both internal (greens, religious, military, etc...) and external (US, USSR, Europe, Middle East, and China). Annoy the US or the USSR too much, and they'll invade you.

The game doesn't take itself too seriously, and has a lot of humor sprinkled throughout.

GTA V, ran into a hacker yesterday, who was fairly nice for once, having a little fun. Then did some War Thunder, the new night maps are amazing, with the light effects off the spotlights being really cool, and not being able to see 3/4 of the enemy force also means planning is key.

Binding of Isaac rebirth, did another chest run, I want to do a mega-satan run but CBF.

Minecraft. hm, looking to try and finish my road, and also do the top two floors of my wizard tower/lighthouse.

Meh. It doesn't make sense to me that each race would only ever live in and fight for their home province. Some people emigrate, some people might be political exiles and fugitives. In all the Elder Scrolls games there are NPCs of all races scattered throughout the world whatever the province, whether it's Skyrim, Morrowind or Cyrodiil.

And the numbers of players playing a race in the "wrong" faction will be balanced out by the fact that you have to pay extra for the privilege, buy the adventurers pack like I did or the imperial edition. Most players won't bother, so it'll only ever be a minority.

I have almost table-flipped with the Pillars of Eternity's Chapter II end

Spoiler:
I was very pleased with the Council scene, how I had the oppurtunity to protect Animancy and help the Duc reach a decision. I've heard nothing but good things from Lady Webb about him so I wanted to meet the Duc. I was happily wondering how this would change the land, how Chapter III could be different if I accused Animancy and he banned it from Dyrwood.

NOTHING mattered, the bad guy shows up, kills the Duc, feths up everything and goes away. feth sake.

Well remember the good old catch all excuse that history can be rewritten because of the Elder Scrolls (for instance Vivec's origin going from him being a prostitute/ gang member who joined up with some nobody mercenary to having always been a god who had done so many epic things before he even met Nerevar) . Not that that is an excuse for them messing up their own canon of course, but I suppose it can help soothe that pain. Though I will say that that clause does explicitly account that Cyrodiil was a jungle, but was turned into what it was in Oblivion through the bending of the scrolls by the Imperials (*cough* retconning *cough*).

Hey at least they have an interesting way of handling these mistakes.

The Mount and Blade Warband Iron Europe mode. Its based on the Napoleonic Wars DLC, but the setting is WWI. Its not as active as the DLC, but the least I can say is that you can actually hit the side of a barn with your gun unlike Napoleonic Wars. It'd be nice to see it developed and to have a larger player base, though as it is right now it'll do.

I played it for a bit and wound up picking the sniper class. Let the grunts fight it out in the trenches. Me? I go find a nice rock and sit there plinking off nameplates. Seriously, players in that game have a supreme aversion to turning around and looking at the guy standing on top of a hill 10 metres away... As a bonus this mod actually includes a zooming scope, unlike others, so you can properly snipe (along with the aforementioned guns being semi-accurate this time, though the terrain hit boxes are weird at times, leading to things like barbed wire stopping bullets...).

It'd be nice to see them implement more countries, more weapons, gas attacks, trench weapons (there's units with Trench armour and knives, but that's about it. Armoured sniper and machine gunners would be cool too, but a tad OP), and hell cavalry would be nice too, though that'd somewhat mess with the attrition of the foot soldiers taking trenches. =P

Armoed Warfare was a blast this weekend!

Had a few tanks tied up on some battles with the T-64 as they panicked with bounces off the turret, then a BMPT-Terminator remembered he was zippy and could kill me all alone, screw the other MBTs hanging back as my T-64 had done a couple of minutes delaying action, lost a couplke of allied tanks who went too far forward, got killed by those tanks, mainly that "Terminator"

T-64

BMPT Terminator

the 30mm auto cannons are what kills you fastest.

Played a bit of GTA San Andreas.
- AI driver runs over pedestrian.
- AI driver flips out and drives into walls.
- Ambulance arrives ramming into 4 cars and a few pedestrians.
- Pedestrian is saved and walks away as if nothing has happened. Meanwhile, the cars the ambulance hit explode and are on fire.

I've also made a pedestrian grinder by standing on a car while another car that's trying to ram me drifts in a circle around the car I'm standing on. People walk into the car's path, get hit, and next thing I know, I have 1000$ by doing almost absolutely nothing.

ARGH. What is it with players and domination fights in War Thunder. I always get the team that don't care that domination is won by landing, or who can't land because they will be "exposed" to fire.

Lost my last 3 matches because of it, and lost a wager.

Giving Skyforge a try. Why not? It's free-to-play.

Didn't do much yet, but what I did, I loved it! Very fun MMO with an ARPG combat system, kinda like Tera.

The look of the game is also something I greatly enjoy: Sci-fi but with plenty of fantasy designs. Hell, your starter classes are fantasy-like but very sci-fied: Paladin (Tank), Cryomancer (Ice Mage - DPS) and Lightbringer (Healer)

Edit: Aaaand I forgot to mention a very important detail: You can switch class any time you want. The level up system is something out of Final Fantasy X / XIII with several nodes you unlock and after you reach a certain point with one of the base classes you gain access to all the others.
LOVE this system!

This seems to be common in Warthunder, that and just standing around while allies get torn to shreds by enemy fire, but could have been saved by players actualy assiting ones team mates

A couple hours of Verdun, considering that it was on sale for £8. God that game is frustrating, but dayum is it satisfying when I finally manage to storm the enemy trench and rampage along it with a 10 round Lee Enfield rifle shooting unsuspecting Krauts in the back. And then I rage at my team for cowering back in No Man's Land, failing to take advantage of the opening I create when I massacre half the enemy team.

Then a couple hours of Elder Scrolls Online. Got fed up when a series of quests sent me back and forth three times across half the length of the island of Auridon.

Spent half an hour in Life Is Strange finding the last of the collectible photos of Episode 4.

Also been watching some episodes of Hannibal (tv). Gawd damnit, they cancelled the show for a second time.

I somehow feel like that is the most accurate game portrayal of WWI combat ever.

I got the Warsword Conquest mod for Warband, which for anyone who doesn't know is a Warhammer Fantasy mod. I did a playthrough of Lizardmen, but I started to get lag spikes in battle for reasons I'm not sure of. I'm thinking it's all of the Cold Ones I have running about, and the pirates' guns probably don't help.

Besides the lag I have been having a blast, my army taking on several armies at a time and winning, and we haven't lost a single castle once. (It probably helps we are on our own island, but still)

I love Warsword Conquest! The addition of firearms is pretty nice, and it's cool how you don't even need Napoleonic Wars to use them.

I think it might be the Cold Ones causing your lag, but I'm not entirely sure. I remember having to restart my laptop because of lag, and my army having around 8 cold one riders.

Did a modded playthrough of DST with a friend. I was xenomorph which had some perks like night vision and no sanity loss for night time, but only has 60 sanity and lesser combat damage to go with bonus fire damage. My friend was Wilton the Skeleton and lost sanity to hounds, attracted them, and ran faster when near them.

We got to day 45-ish, and went to the swamp to get the skeletons there to upgrade Wilton with the bone shards, but hounds showed up and after a miserable existence of him reviving himself at Graves with no sanity, more hounds finished us off at our base at day 50.

Why do you think it's not your type of game?

A few things got me negative, the need for a joypad (Im a PC head!) but I adapted, still felt uneasy though.
Also the fact it simply throws you right in, no real idea what to do
The dialogue also was not great, even from the few characters I met.

I think its a slow burner?

You really don't want to try playing DaS2 on a keyboard and mouse, controller is really the only way it's designed to be played.

The throwing you right in without any direction is exactly how the Souls games are designed. The director of the games taught himself English through reading Western fantasy novels, so that disjointed effect on storytelling has carried over into the games. Also lore is not really explained, but you can piece it together as you play, and the mechanics are pretty simple, L1/R1 for basic attacks, L2/R2 for heavy attacks.

As for building your character, I suggest getting your Strength or Dex to the minimum required for the weapon you're using and then start leveling Vigor to 20, Adaptability to 25, and Endurance to 20. This will let you spend your soul levels on Vitality which increases your equipment load (which determines how quick or slow you are), and then to up your Str or Dex as needed for new weapons. Be aware though that if you die a lot without gathering your souls from your previous death, it can kind of screw you over. They implemented a stupid mechanic called Soul Memory which is essentially how many souls you've accumulated over the course of the game. So you can have a high Soul Memory, but a low Soul Level which can hinder you if you get invaded or are trying to coop with people.

What system do you have it on, and do you have Scholar of the First Sin or regular DaS2? If you're playing it on PC, do you have the 32bit or the 64bit version of the game (They're both named Scholar of the First Sin on Steam).

Slow burner is definitely an apt descriptor. The rewards in the game don't come very often, but when you get them you feel like you actually accomplished something.

Dang, I can't offer to help then . The version of the game you have is the "harder" version. It's the same game that was released on PS4 and Xbox1. Those games are more difficult and have different enemy placement. It's essentially a release designed for people who beat DaS2, but have since upgrade to a newer console. Unfortunately on the PC, the 64bit game is completely incompatible with the previous version.

I only know that because I almost bought the 64 bit version to play with my friend that already had the game.

Good luck! Also if you see yellow markings on the ground, those are people who've aligned with the Covenant of the Sun (aka Sunbros). They are players who are willing to help you through content and to fight a boss.

I really need to get myself a controller. I have Rogue Legacy and the Dark Souls games that really need it, and I play a couple other games that would benefit from the control a, well, controller gives.

I think it's generally that if you need to aim precisely, you want mouse'n'keyboard, but if you need to move precisely, you want controller.

GTA 5 has me pissed off at the dailies again. One on One deathmatch which screws up your HUD, and two easy ones. I'm almost at the monthly mark.....

War thunder has me annoyed at the whole team for going bombers in a domination map, and expecting to win.

Peer pressure has forced me to dive into Heroes of the Storm, and I'm enjoying a lot more than I thought I would. While the moba concept has always been appealing, I hated DotA back when it was a Warcraft III map and couldn't stand what I saw of LoL and the like once they became their own thing. A lot of the accessibility changes really work wonders, especially team-leveling and objective-based play. This is proving to be the only competitive game where I still have fun when I'm losing. The pacing on the matches is tuned super tight, and you always feel like you're doing something productive. I've honestly never had an online game pull me in like this that wasn't an MMO.

Glad you like it. The game has plenty of content and it's a peeve of mine for people to call it 2D minecraft. 1.3 definitely held up to my expectations and then some.

I played more of Siv 5, and the main struggle I have to cope with is not being able to have more than one army unit on a tile. (Which also means no army units by putting 3 of one kind on one spot, but I can manage.)

I can't say I enjoy it. It's interesting enough, but I didn't expect anything really worth longterm enjoyment for that low of a price. I wouldn't spend the $0.99 on it (normal price) but for what I did pay for its good enough for the standards that come with it.

Chipped away a bit at Hearthstone last night. Also put in some time in Street Fighter X Tekken. I'm finding that game to be one of the easier fighters that I've played in a while. Manged to go through arcade mode with a ryu/ken pairing without having to continue. It didn't even seem like the AI got any better as the matches progressed. But there was a sudden spike in activity with the last fight. Compared to the other matches, the AI with the last fight seemed to use more specials and supers. I may try again tonight and click it up a notch above medium.

Will be playing some Clash of Clans to ight too. I have 29 walls I want to upgrade before moving on to TH9.

Play it patiently, if you play it like a standard FPS you will get nowhere.

Its probably best to start of as a rifle class as you wont be taking up valuable class slots while you are still learning and riflemen are useful at long/medium range which is where you want to be anyway until you learn the maps. Once you know your way around a bit better best 'learning' class is the German elite assault with the STG 44 although they tend to be quite sought after slots so failing that something with an automatic rifle (engineers or elite riflemen) would suit a new player quite well. Stay away from Squad leaders, commanders and tank crew until you know how the game works and you have ideally practiced with them offline.

Gameplay wise always fight near to or even in the current objectives (pressing T will show you where they are) and don't try to play as a lone wolf, that kind of play style only really works if you know the map very well. A handy tip for telling friend from foe is that Germans (and Japanese if you are playing RS) run/sprint with their weapon in 1 hand while Soviets (and US) run/sprint holding their weapon in 2 hands.

RO2 can be extremely unforgiving; getting shot repeatedly by unseen enemies and spawn killed by arty doesn't make for a calm gaming experience but RO2 is a game that rewards skill, patience and teamwork. I haven't played any another multiplayer FPS with any regularity for about 2 years now.

MG is the most important class. When the MGs are doing their work supported by Riflemen giving out ammo etc the MG can clear whole areas or stop an advance.

I am a huge fan of the MG personally. If no MG I go squad commander or rifle man.

Playing as MG forces you to make the most of cover as you will get shot at straight off the bat.

As for bots, I hate playing them too. I remember the first time my friend played without me he was playing against bots. I got a message saying he had killed over 100 players because everyone online was so dumb. He was pretty proud until I told him the game has bots then hit him.

Yeah the MG seems to work best when you get somewhere safe near an objective get behind cover then just shoot anything wearing the wrong uniform you can see.

Been playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. It has this weird gimmick for when you're not playing the main story where you centre the DS camera on a circular object, and it can open dungeons to go through. The size of the object on the camera even determines the dungeon's difficulty.

Cheap gimmick? Yes, but still pretty cool.

Actually, I need to install Colonial Marines... It seems like something that I would enjoy despite reviews and some folks' opinions (which I usually disregard; I'd rather feel that the fire burns by touching it myself).

...

Played some Terraria on the PC tonight. I'm enjoying the game moreso than it's Vita counter part... mouse and keyboard controls are just so much nicer. There is still plenty I need to figure out. It took me a bit to figure out why a door I had in my little hut wouldn't work.... turns out it was because there was a flower blocking it from opening ha.

@Co'tor Shas, yeah I think there's a lot of that. Especially if you want to be your own king without having everyone come at you all at once.

Have you battled any of the unique spawn/heroic enemies/armies like Wolfbode or the others? The second question (if you've done that) is, what have you done with your Qualis gems?

If I ever resume my playthrough I'm gonna need several more... I want another potion so I can get 30 strength for certain gear in my inventory, I could *really* use a good one handed sword, and there are a couple of other things. Would have to wait for Wolfbode to respawn though. What a fun fight, I think it took me more than two arrows to drop him and that's unheard of against any other unit. A couple of horses maybe.. but not people.

I think you gotta spend one to buy from that vendor. Another buys the tip to see the elves and compete in their tournament (may be able to win gear there?). Then there's the potion, and the buying/enhancing gear. If you have the stats and bankroll to buy and equip noldor gear, it would probably be pretty useful. I think there's a neat trick you can do with a guildmaster if you have one of those gems in your inventory, but there's a good chance you'll lose it so it isn't really advisable w/o a lot of reloading

Skyrim on pc for the first time, with a modest number of mods installed. Still at Helgen but I'm surprised so far. Running the game on medium graphics, and its running extremely smoothly. Was not expecting that, my pc has struggled at times with Attila Total War and Fallout New Vegas.

Current mods installed are:

Hunterborn/Hunting in Skyrim.
Frostfall.
Falskaar.
Wyrmstooth.
Perkus Maximus.

I did have Sky UI activated but for some reason the script extender turned itself off somehow which deactivated SkyUI.

Also had to remove some of the optional extras in Hunterborn, like craftable candles and lanterns because they were causing incompatibility issues. Couldn't get past the first loading screen without a CTD.

I was thoroughly impressed with the Falskaar mod. The creator should definitely feel proud about it, considering how much content there is.

Are you using the new steam version of SKSE? If so i don't have any experience with it so can't comment. If not, remember to use the dedicated 'Skyrim(SKSE)' launcher, which you can create a desktop icon for, or if you're using Nexus Mod Manager it's a drop down option in the top right, 'Launch Skyrim' -> 'Launch Skyrim(SKSE)'. If you use the default Skyrim launcher (The one with Dragonborn hanging out in some mountains) which you get when you click on the game in the Steam library SKSE will not switch on. Also if you start Skyrim (Even SKSE!) while exited from Steam, Steam itself will automatically bring up the default launcher, simply hit 'Exit' and run SKSE again, should get you straight to the Bethesda splash screen. The main menu will say something like 'Ver 1.93.2 (SKSE) 1.72.3' in the bottom left if SKSE is running properly.

It's weird...haven't played Skyrim in a couple years (x360), so when I started ESO a month ago it felt nostalgic. Now I'm playing Skyrim on my pc, I'm getting the exact same feeling again.

Cheers. at first that option didn't appear in Nexus MM so I downloaded SKSE again and now it's all working. I know for a fact that I downloaded it a couple months ago...

Mount and Blade Warband, or rather Mount and Blade Warband with hackers. Damn is that game useless when it comes to that sort of thing. Kicking players isn't a ban, they can just relog in a few seconds. Even worse in that the hackers can just remove your ability to kick them too. I'm remembering how dire the community for that game is now. =/

Native, Napoleonic, or North and South?

I play a lot of Native and Napoleonic so it sucks if they are starting to attract hackers.

My God does Sky UI make a difference in Skyrim. This must be the BEST inventory interface I've ever used in an rpg.

And Damn, those nostalgic feels...

"Some may call this junk, me I call them treasures..."
- me, when I walk through the door at the Riverwood Trader despite not having played Skyrim for going on two years.

I'm starting to remember why Skyrim was such a time sink on x360.

Now imagine that time sink at an order of magnitude greater for pc, with role play mods like hunting and skinning animals, frostfall which adds gameplay mechanics involving keeping yourself warm and dry to survive exposure, and two new regions in Falskaar and Wyrmstooth.

My God, what have I done...

None of those, it was The Deluge mod. Apparently that mod's server's are so open that hackers can make it so the "kick player" poll leads to the "change number of bots" one. You'd think that if a player's kicked a few times though the system would kick in a temp ban on them as otherwise you're left with those people and the player numbers tank.

So not any of the "main" mods as it were at least. However I did a quick search on hacking the game and there's entire sub-forums dedicated to it. Wonder why players can voice spam "blee" constantly? The game doesn't pick up modified files somehow.

Jumped on a Napoleonic Wars server and considered applying as an admin out of spite for all the RDMers. Thought better of it when I looked at the server's site and seen that it had dozens of admins, but none were ever online. That and its easier to just give up on those servers for a while and let all the idiots fall off of my radar. Pity that there aren't many public servers up these days, especially for smaller, but great mods like Iron Europe. Shame that those mods are so much better than Napoleonic Wars, yet because they aren't official DLC they have crap player bases. :/

I love how in so many games, the 'best' mods and hacks are all 'Get GodMode! Infinity +1 sword added to starting inventory! Everyone Naked!'

Skyrim's got its share of those, but all the mods that people go gaga over are the ones that make the game harder.

Though they don't include adoption mechanics, house mods are a good alternative if you don't want to pay for Hearthfire. I think there's also a build your own house mod, and if you look carefully, you should be able to find a castle mod or two that doesn't need Dragonborn or Dawnguard.

While it's likely obvious, avoid Steam Workshop for house mods though. While there are some good creations, if a creator pulls their mod, and you lose whatever you stored in that building, it'll be tough getting all that stuff back.

Got some 40k armor/weapons mods, and I found out they are rather OP. (Makes sense fluff wise, but is a bit of a let down.) They not only add up to 100+ defence, but are made out of 6 gold for crafting and provide a speed boost. Haven't seen the weapons but I imagine they're in the same boat.

God Damn I love that game. Just wait till you get to ep 4. Oh, and be NICE to Victoria. If you're nasty to her you might regret it later.

The sound track is the reason why I got out and fixed up my mom's old guitar. I want to learn how to play now because of LIS, will probably spend an hour or two on it this morning.

Remember Me was the memory remix game, right? Neat idea, and the memory mechanics were good. But unrealized potential, imo, and the plot wasn't very good. It'll be interesting to see if they can do a better job the second time around.

As for Life Is Strange, I played through the first chapter, and decided to wait until the full game is released to pick it back up again.

Alien: Isolation - not the best thing to play perhaps just before going to bed by walking down a dark corridor :-).....and loving how the Alien does appear to be unpredictable in it's movement - I 've had a number of deaths where I was moving through an area that had been safe on a previous load (prior to dying) - and it's genuinely scarey!

I think so. I think...

Spoiler:
That Max will have to rewind all the way back to Monday in Jefferson's class to undo the damage to the timeline she caused by saving Chloe's life.

In fact, I think she's stuck in an infinite time loop, endlessly repeating the events of the week, futilely trying to save Chloe, find Rachel and expose the Dark Room conspirators. But everytime she gets to Friday, Jefferson drugs her, which feths with her short term memory. She escapes the Dark Room and wanders up to the light house as the storm hits the town, but the drugs have wiped her memory of the last few days, which explains why in Episode 1 during her "vision" or "nightmare" of the storm she couldn't remember how she got there or what was happening.

It wasn't simply a vision of the future - she actually was there at the light house in person on Friday. Then she accidentally triggers her rewind and sends herself back to Monday with no memory of the week's events.

The only thing that will break the time loop is to let the timeline play out as it always should have: Chloe has to death at Nathan's hands. Chloe is the "bomb" that "turns Arcadia Bay to glass" (exposes the secrets). Her death in a high school bathroom is something that the Prescott's cannot possibly cover up. Nathan will be arrested and beyond the control of Jefferson and Nathan's father; and he'll be able to tell the Cops everything he knows.

The problem is that Max always loses her memory when she rewinds back to Monday. To break the cycle she needs to retain her memories somehow. I think she can do that by bringing back her completed Journal from Friday back to Monday (she retains objects on her person when she rewinds). Maybe Jefferson always takes it from her, so she cannot take it back to Monday and its always replaced by the incomplete Monday version.

This being a game in which "Your choices matter", I expect the player will have a choice in the end:

Let Chloe die to save Arcadia Bay.

Or sacrifice Max: Max intervenes directly. Nathan shoots her instead, and Chloe is saved at the expense of Max's life.

Oh, and In My Mind by Amanda Palmer is almost certainly going to be the song played over the credits. Seems fitting I think.

Or sacrifice Max: Max intervenes directly. Nathan shoots her instead, and Chloe is saved at the expense of Max's life.

Oh, and In My Mind by Amanda Palmer is almost certainly going to be the song played over the credits. Seems fitting I think.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
I don't think it's the second time loop, but it wouldn't surprise me if there was no way out of the loop. I kind of think that because they say your choices matter that in the end you will have no choice. It seems like the whole game is about reinforcing that you don't actually have power. The final nail would be forcing your last choice.

Got done with a relatively quick Hearthstone session... got 1 out of 3 dailies taken care of... not feeling too motivated to finish off the other two right now... they involve me not playing as a Warrior.

About to take on Suffolk Lane (my world in the PC version of Terraria).

Did more of Warsword Conquest, this time as chaos, and I have had some poor luck. Beast men swarm me by villages to get marauders, and trolls guard the border to the Empire. At least I've learned the best way to fight a troll is by rushing up in his face, since his swings are so slow. (Of course, his friends don't like this so they tend to smack you in the head from behind. )

So, finally got a win in tennis. It took something like 9 games to get. I did my parachuting easy, and of course killed someone off the radar in GTA. GTA is now offline for 7 hours while rockstar do some fixes. Apparently hacker protection, and new dailies plus some more content.

Other stuff....
Marvel heroes is fun, just doing legendaries as Cap. I honestly love him! I've used his ultimate 4 times....looking at trying either Deadpool, Cable, or juggi.

Well, I upgraded to windows 10, and has made most of my games so slow as to be unplayable. Not fun.

Windows keeps spamming me with a little notification icon on my taskbar that pop ups up everytime I boot up, pestering me to "upgrade for free before its too late!"

No. Feth off.

I tried editing the icon settings to hide the icon and notifications but it seems when I reboot the computer, Windows turns the notifications back on. I've only been using Windows 7 for a year now with my new pc that I built for myself (before that I was still using XP on my previous, ~8 year old desktop). I have no desire to change.

Its quite doable, just make sure to gain an alliance with the Turks, as they act as a decent blocking force against the crusader forces coming overland. And they have very, very good horse mounted archers and decent enough foot troops to back the cavalry too in a drawn out figth.

Hehe yes those. I tend to sow mayhem in Europa and provoke all but a few of the nations to come after me.

Been playing some more This War Of Mine lately. I wish they would update it to randomize the starting options a bit, though. I would like to try some of the different groups of survivors, but I really don't like starting a game during winter.

Bought Brave New World for Civ 5. Currently trying to re-live my civ 4 days by manipulating all the world's leaders into 2 or 3 groups, and watching them fight it out while I sit back and watch.

I decided not to. I'm trying my best not to spend any more money on the game... its not like I spent much (maybe $5?)... but usually for me that can be the start of a bad cycle...

Then it sounds like Saints Row 3 would be your cup of tea It's pretty much the same graphics as 4, but more grounded like 2 (still ridiculous storyline and all... wouldn't be Saints Row without it)

The pre-order is the first money I've spent on HS and I'm happy otherwise to grind out arena runs for more packs but I feel not too bad about spending some money on an otherwise free game

I got Fallout: Shelter on my phone, and that's been pretty fun so far. It has some nice features and it's been awhile since I could find a nice city/tower building game for resources like this one, and it's Fallout so it's even better.

Fallout Shelter is a good game, but it really lacks a major feature, that being able to see in detail for any dweller's happiness rating.

Just downloaded a couple new questline mods for NV. Having fun bounty hunting. Still haven't gotten around to exploring most of the Add-on dungeons I got from another mod.

Also, anyone know if when you install a weapons mod after starting a character if the weapons will properly work? On one character you can buy them at the Gun Runners and find htem on NPCs while on my 1st character they still seem missing, It's that huge pack of weapons made by a big mod group.

It's generally seen as best practice to make a new character after installing any mods, because most of the time the mods you installed after chargen will not function properly for that character and can lead to game instability.

So I'd say no, they won't work properly if they're installed for use on an existing character.

The first dragon you kill is outside the village, at the watch tower with several guards present and you can hide in the castle, the second one is with Delphine, to kill a dragon as it is getting revived by another dragon, that is the one i have trouble with and i do not know if i have a save where i can roam first to get a flame resistant armor.

That's one of the reasons I generally go through ALL of the guilds before advancing that questline. I pay special attention to the thieves guild, and mage guild questlines. Make sure you have properly finished both - got the Archmages gear, and the guildmaster gear from the thieves guild [you will need to do a load of radiant quests for that one and brought the 5 cities back into the fold. There will be 5 new merchants in the ratway when you have done]. this should see you have enough to cast resistances on yourself to mitigate the damage and a high enough sneak to hit it with a bow and do some serious damage on a sneak attack.

Of course, you could also get your enchanting to 100% and do double enchants on all your gear. Flame/frost resistance for preference, then anything that increases your prefferred damage or if using spells reduces their cost. Correctly spec'd armour and the correct skills can mean you cast spells for free.

Because I normally go sneak/archer with enchants and do side quests first, by the time I pick up the main questline to that point, it's a cakewalk.
This is obviously the problem with these open-world games. The developers stand no chance of balancing the game. It could be improved by blocking certain quests until a certain point in the mnain quest is released.

As long as the person knows what they're doing (ie it's not a face hunter) yeah you're in pretty good shape but Lock & Load can make or break their game, mages also have to be the aggro counterpart which is also unusual for that class so it may catch off more players
