@GuitaRasmus I know you said you made the teeth on the nurgle stuff with Fimo clay but what kind did you use to get those real looking teeth? and did you do anything special to them after you baked them?
Wraithlord looks amazing, although I would have thought it would make sense to paint him in Warp Spider colours. The colours still look awesome though!
You need to do some more Aspect Warrior Wraithlords! Perhaps a Dark Reaper Lord next?
Its models like these that make me happy to see that Nurgle units got a boost in 6th. Hopefully the new C:CSM is boss enough to make these models as awesome as they look.
Your models scare me.
Your painting scares me.
Your talent scares me.
Your creativity really scares me.
Overall, sir, you are one of the scariest people whom I have had the dubious pleasure of admiring for their work. If you could possibly be any scarier than you were right at this moment, and somehow managed to surpass yourself in any of the ways I have listed, than I shall be forced to remove myself from this plane of existence voluntarily. If I did not, I have no doubts that I would enter a state of cardiac arrest, and my death by your hands would only be furthering your terrifying conquest of our mortal souls. You, sir, now hold the power of life and death in your hands. Truly, the gods of Chaos would be proud.
Well, it looks like the Death Guard are being bolstered by new guys - I have to projects in the works, a greater daemon, and a wacky concept - death guard wasps (raptors)
Both concepts are still very rough, but you can see where I'm going.
Greater Daemon (I know it doesn't have wings, but they were too cool to not use) - I wanted to get away from the bloated great unclean one, since it doesn't really match anything in my army, conceptwise.
Lots of greenstuffing to be done.
A wasp prototype:
The underbody is an ancient tyranid warrior body, and all the legs will be similar to the backmost hind legs - I intend to make a mold and cast the body and legs in resin.
As usual, any and all comments are appreciated.

Are you talking about the defiler teeth? They're just regular off the shelf fimo clay, from a crafts store.
Odd One Out wrote: If you could possibly be any scarier than you were right at this moment, and somehow managed to surpass yourself in any of the ways I have listed, .
I think he just did...That greater demon is the beesknees...amazing,amazing,amazing...you rock
The Greater Daemon is fantastic! I absolutely love your concepts and the way you use bits is amazing looking forward to him being finished and painted. These models should be entered into as many competitions as you can find near you buddy. You're talking instant win with almos all of them.
I can't begin to tell you how amazing those last two builds are. The fantastic demon is only trumped by that amazing wasp marine. Everything about him looks just right... the slight curvature of the body to the left, the subtle skewing of the legs... really astounding work. I like the proper superlatives to put it into perspective.
You have some ridiculously good conversions going on here, just those last two are fantastic. And they aren't even finished!
The Wasp Marine idea is brilliant, have you seen it elsewhere? Or is it an original idea?
hey, just looked through all your pages and im seriously impressed at your kitbashing and sculpting skill.. so i thought id leave my mark here and sub your page so i can look at it whenever i want... really, really good stuff!
Biohazard: Though I'm pretty confident in my modelling skills, my painting is about average in my gaming community, so I doubt my painting will win any prizes - I will enter in armies on parade, though. I've gotten an official go for my display board from GW (I wrote them, since the terrain will be bigger than the board)
rodgers37 wrote:You have some ridiculously good conversions going on here, just those last two are fantastic. And they aren't even finished!

To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen it elsewhere. I always try to give proper credits when I use someones idea, and the wasps were an idea that formed in my head about 6 months ago - I love jump packs, but I wanted to implement them into the death guard in a more exciting way than "rotten assault marines" - hence the idea for wasp/fly lower bodys.
I was going to do the silicone mold tonight, but unfortunately my silicone has dried in the can (must be a bad batch - only two months old? Anyway, I'll buy some more tomorrow, and then I'll start casting legs, wings and lower bodys - mwahahaha, the wasps are coming!
Not content with making me wish my CSM army was better you have now started on the Eldar! haha. The best blog on dakka and anywhere else for that matter. I think you are being modest about the painting your models all look class in my opinion. The kit bashing is always unique but you have the ability to make it seem like they belong to the same kit and I think damn why didn't I think of that!!!! Top work.
I have 3 ½ blissfull weeks of vacation, and spent a few hours taking som pics of my finished miniatures for my Death Guard warband in here - I just wanted to show them off as a whole:
Daemon prince Obitus the Undying:
His Lieutenant and bodyguard:
Plague Marines
Their crumbling ride:
The ancient dreadnought, Morbus in Machina:
Still needing a good name:
The Strain, possessed marines, with dark magos/apothecary:
This is simply fantastic, GuitaRasmus! I don't really see how you could actually *not* win any prizes with this army. Your models are amazing!
My favourites are the Daemon Prince and second Dread. Extra kudos for maybe being the first person ever to get the Horror heads to look really disturbing instead of just goofy. Oh, and it was a great choice to convert your own Obliterators instead of using premade models. Glorious!
Regarding the name for the second Dread, here's a couple of suggestions off the top of my head:
WOW! You sir are a god! This puts my army to shame! Also I may have to steal your strain idea, it's that good hehehe! Keep up the amazing work though dude!
Really amazing stuff as always. I think out of everything my favourite detail is the claw on the Plague Marine champion, the way it is cracking out of his armour looks excellent.
Oh, and I picked up something today at GW. Since I'm pretty sure Chaos is going to get a flyer, I'm starting a project that I've been wanting to do for a long time, but couldn't see what it should count as - now I know.
It's quite rough, but you can see where I'm going - a nurgle giant fly:
Lots of stuff to be added. I'm really excited about this.
Everything you do is ridiculously inspired, that wasp is sheer genius. The gd is looking to be progressing wonderfully, and that giant fly should be a wonder to behold by the time you're done, great way to fit the chaos flyer theme to your army.
Just to let you know, my jaw has been floored by not only your painting skills, but your creativity as well. To say that I'm flabbergasted would be an understatement.

Their ride:
Hi I know you already said you made the teeth for these with fimo clay but I am wondering what kind you use as there are a lot of different ones and if you did anything special to them before or after baking to make them look like real teeth?
Rotting defiler-beast:
A lot of progress on the fly - first, how to make fly rotors:
Drainage pipe
2 x anti-hair grills (don't know the name) for said drainage pipe.
I cut the ends of the pipe on a lathe, and made two discs of plastic:
Dremel galore:
The discs were cut into rotors, and given the dremel and hobby knife treatment:
I turned two pointed rods on the lathe, and glued the rotors on:
And put everything together - the grills are used as an underside, with holes for the rods:
The idea is that the rider sort of interfaces with the daemon engine through his arms (which will be suitably greenstuffed) and the cable going into his back, matrix style. I like the tormented kind of posture he has, inspired by the old metal DE talos. It still needs lots more cables, tech bits, and two cannons on the sides, depending on which kind of armament the chaos flyer is going to have. Oh and the top cannon as well - I don't think I'll make it final until I know the weaponry.
Comment away. I'm really excited about this thing.
Truly, Truly Chaotic! really nicely done and executed! the manner which you integrated the pilot/driver is perfect! and I love the nod to the old Talos kit with the pose, it wouldn't be comfortable by any stretch which makes it more accurate for Chaos!
the other thing I love about this conversion is the drape of the legs on the 'fly' again you have done a spectacular job! and the blight drone type rotors are imaginative and will look brilliant when you paint this guy up!
thanks again for producing such amazing and creative work for us to enjoy!
Yup, hate you. Love the models, they are all amazing. The fly is like a blight drone plus a storm talon times great imagination to the power of perfect execution. But you, and your ability to do said math, hate.
...wow. Seriously nice work. I am very envious of your build skills. I can't wait to see the think painted. I really can't find anything to comment on beyond wow.
I think I may just steal that concept from you someday. When I'm not so in debt I can't afford a meal over plastic...
First of all, fantastic work But I feel a bit like a parrot, since that's what all the people are saying all the time in this thread
Concerning the weapons, I think it's quite a task to add something that doesn't detract from the kick-ass composition of your flyer. Personally, I'd attach the weapons to the left and right of the head, above the point where the legs connect. Somehow I feel that your best bet would be to go with something organic (maybe converted from Tyranid parts ?!) or at least some horrible fusion of tech and organic elements. What I would like to see would be some kind of "organic ammo feed", running from the fly's bloated backside to the weapons or something of the like, if that makes any sense.
If the rumoured new Chaos flyer does indeed turn out to be some goofy mecha-dragon, you've got quite the alternative on your hands there
Weaponswise, that thing would look sick with two big, meaty kheres-stlye chain guns slung under its belly. Maybe trailing long, slimy ammo trails behind it like a jellyfish, kindof?
KrautScientist had mentioned organic, and I agree. It looks like there are a pair of unused limb sockets above and behind the dangling legs. Maybe attach them there?
OMG still amaze me how awesome you are. Hows the wraithlord convo going?
could come check out a friendly forum i use to post your stuff.
They would love to see your work.
http://www.thepainteddragon.co.uk/forum/ Thanks Spud
Honestly you need to enter your stuff in a competition because your skill converting and painting regardless of how you do it, is amazing in every way and all your model baffle the mind!
The hell, man. The hell. Didn't I tell you that you would make me kill myself if you scared me any more than you have? Well, I hope you're happy. Next time you hear from me, I'll be posting from a cramped little internet cafe...IN HELL!
Nah, I'll be on a cloud somewhere. You get great reception from that high up!
The flyer turned out really awesome! Gotta admit, I'm bummed about the CSM codex being 'delayed" too but I'm also looking forward to plastic Nurgle daemons- finally!
I have toyed with the idea of using the Arachnarok spider for a defiler conversion for a long time, but since I'm thinking of getting a few blight drones to utilize the flyer rules, I may have to try something similar for a mega blight drone flyer. Just need to see what the rumored CSM flyer has, so I can match the weaponry.
Been awhile since I've commented, but this is the best CSM blog on Dakka, in my opinion. Your conversions are inspired, your painting matches your builds very well. Keep it up, man.
Thanks a lot! I'm hard at work doing greenstuff, so hopefully I'll start painting it tonight - I'm just having trouble deciding on the colour of the fly - dark or light colour?
Yellowbeard wrote:The biomechanical parts really add a lot of character to the model. Very nice work.
By the way, is the bit the marine has his arms plugged into a Maxmini jump pack?
First of all, simply fantastic! The integration of the weapons is flawless, and the biomechanic parts are great.
The one nitpick I have is the fact that the fly's eyes do look like a spider's eyes far more than a fly's (for obvious reasons ). Although changing that would probably mean a huge amount of work, and I am not quite sure it would be worth it.
Concerning the paintjob, I would definitely go for a lighter colour for the fleshy parts -- in keeping with the rest of your army. As for the carapace, maybe it's a bit too crazy, but what about doing that in an almost metallic green, to resemble the carapace of a bluebottle? Like so:
Or maybe even have it be iridescent? I have no idea if that's even possible with acrylics, but if anyone can pull off something like that, it's got to be you, GuitaRasmus
A bit of fun tonight with the airbrush - unfortunately the pic doesn't show it, but I used an ancient metallic green, so it has a bit of a fly's sheen to it.
GuitaRasmus wrote:A bit of fun tonight with the airbrush - unfortunately the pic doesn't show it, but I used an ancient metallic green, so it has a bit of a fly's sheen to it.
That is so awesome! I love the fact that you actually went for the extra-disgusting bluebottle effect! Cannot wait to see this thing finished
Thanks a lot everyone. I'm hard at work getting some paint on it, and there'll hopefully be some progress pics tomorrow.

Yeah, I really like the effect too - It's just a bit problematic getting it to fit in with the rest of the armys colour scheme, since it's VERY green compared to the muted hues of the rest of the army.
Xca|iber wrote:Just found this thread. Everything in it demonstrates a level of skill and creativity to which I can only hope to aspire.
Exceedingly well done on everything.
Oh and one question, where did you get the "hood" for the dark magos/apothecary?
It's the torso part from the chaos lord on manticore.
There's already been posted a lot of well deserved praise so far and I'm also running out of superlatives... your stuff is too good!
However I think the things holding together the three barrels of the gun above the driver/rider need more rivets (I know, I'm too late since its already half painted)
Looking forward to seeing this piece of art finished!
All of your pieces are outstanding. If anyone dares to call what you're doing "kitbashing" they need to be corrected immediately. There's a tremendous amount of inventiveness and artistry in all of these models in this thread.
That being said I'm going to imitate your Talos/Daemon Prince fusion from last year. Imitation is the best compliment, after all.
Simply breathtaking, GuitaRasmus! And the metallic sheen really helps to sell it as a fly, in my opinion! Agreed on the Golden Demon comment
One idea concerning the wasps/Raptors: It seems like the new Plaguebearer kit has a fly head as one of the options: That may be a nice part for a possible Raptor champion, or for some extra variety in the squad.
Have been following along but for some reason pics didn't work for a while. Fixed now. So... yeah. I'll think I'll just sit here like an 8 year old kid on a hand-me-down Big Wheel telling a biker that his custom shop Harley is awesome.
Walker - I'm using it as a storm talon for now, but since aeronautica just came out, the blight drone rules work pretty well.
I've spent most of tonight doing a conversion for a buddy, who wanted a "black knight defiler" for his black legion army he's working on - it came out pretty well:
I fear It may get lost in the rest of the praise here, but every time I come back to this blog it has surpassed itself. The blight drone is my favourite thing you've done so far, everything about it is superb. As for all the talk of working for GW, they should definately pick your brain to come up with some new concepts. The thing I like most about your stuff is how it fits in with the 40K universe. There are loads of beautiful conversions out there, but yours are more like the chaos concept art than the official models I feel sometimes, keep it up!

What a wonderful compliment - my thanks to you.
I was a bit bored tonight (needed a break from the minis), but felt like doing something creative, so I messed about a bit in PS and made this.
Thanks! No, I just used a couple of different filters and overlays, just experiencing a bit. I have some training as a graphic designer, so I have a headstart.
I've been working on the GD, since I wasn't completely satisfied with the direction of the old one - I've been cooking this up the last couple of nights, and like it a lot better. Lots of greenstuffing to do, and I'm still not sure about the head, but getting there.
Oh, and look at his little friend. Thankfully, they're a lot less cartoonish live, than with GW's paintjob. I'll build a unit of 7, to go along with the big guy for my daemon allies.
Have you considered doing commissions? If I had any spare cash, I'd get at least a dozen kickass miniatures from you. And I'm sure there are at least a few Dakkites with spare cash who're awed by your work just as much as I am.

Well... Yup. And between working full time, playing music part time, and trying to squeeze in time to do my own hobby projects, I want to prioritize my own projects. However, if someone has a great idea for a project, I'd love to hear about it - maybe I'll be hooked on it enough to do it.
I've gotten a bit further on the Greater Daemon - I wasn't convinced about the head, so I made another which I like better - it has a split lower jaw, like the vampires in Blade 2 (or is it 3?). Also some more greenstuffing, and guts!
I also assembled 7 plaguebearers - they got some reposing, so a bit of greenstuff is in order, but the added dynamics is worth it:
Thanks a lot guys - I've just started work (public school teacher) after summer break, so I have to get up REALLY early. Damn. Oh well. I managed to get some greenstuffing done tonight, but I'll wait until he's finished with the pics.
LoneLictor wrote:Damn, excellent stuff as always. I definitely like the new head better; that split jaw is badass.
Also, I have a question. Are the new Plague Bearers worth getting?
Depends. I think they are alot cooler without the goofy paint job, but there are some of the parts that are ridicoulous - and the need some reposing to not just look like they'll rank up nicely in fantasy.
Body: Daemon prince torso
Back: Shooty bit of a Soulgrinder forearm.
Arms: Hellpit abomination, cut at the elbows and shoulders, lenghtened and resculpted.
Head: Zombie dragon jaws cut up and resculpted.
Legs: Zombie dragon
Spider "arm" : Arachnarok
Spider bits: Spawn kit.
Long time, no update. I got a new job, and it's always a bit hard when everythings unfamiliar, so I haven't had too much spare time.
Anyway, I bought Dark Vengeance today, and while I like the basic idea of the Helbrute, I wasn't sold on the pose, so I changed it up a bit. I'm still not sure if it's going to be painted for my Death Guard army, or if I should go nuts and paint a small warband of Slaanesh or Tzeentch followers.
Lone Lictor: Forgot the painting tutorial. Like the rest of the army, it's really simple:
Basecoat bleached bone
Wash with dilluted mix of sepia and thraka green
Paint all recesses with badab black
Wash all buboes and boils with baal red
Tamiya clear red for sores and blood.
I am not sold on it's pose either. I like what you have done with it, though, and may emulate a bit. I would like to see if it is possible to move the arms a little. I have two so I may experiment with it......
Liking the army Good luck with the Hellbrute. Have a few ideas for one myself, but with some fluff reasons for it being with the Thousand Sons (top secret though )
I like it! Do Nurgle! It is just crying out to be painted like nurgle! And who want pink in their army of tough men eh? ;D
Automatically Appended Next Post: Although Tzeentch would work quite well, but then you would probably need Tzeentch marines to go with it, which is a whole different story...
I'm wondering if the Hellbrute has any peripheral vision? It looks like all it can see is a direct 90 degree field of vision. Not sure I even like the stock model yet, will have to see it in person and check the stats that come with it.
Skalk Bloodaxe wrote: I'm wondering if the Hellbrute has any peripheral vision? It looks like all it can see is a direct 90 degree field of vision. Not sure I even like the stock model yet, will have to see it in person and check the stats that come with it.
Given the look I would have to say it has a 90 degree FoV, however being Chaos and all it could have a form of a sixth sense. I find the stock model pretty sweet. Its the Cultists I'm not sold on, some look good and some look naff.
Regardless, the Hellbrute conversion is pretty cool.
Skalk Bloodaxe wrote: I'm wondering if the Hellbrute has any peripheral vision? It looks like all it can see is a direct 90 degree field of vision. Not sure I even like the stock model yet, will have to see it in person and check the stats that come with it.
You're looking at only the "human" eyes; look at all the other extra eyes it grew! If FoV is a problem, can just have one spawn more....
The stuff you create is just insane. The Plaguebearers and the Greater Daemon (or as I shall call it, the Rotfiend) look amazing. The Hellbrute repose looks great too.
One thing you could do for the Hellbrute is use the decaptitated heads from the Plaguebearer kit on the fist or the banner.
Work blocks your pics from me so i need to see these when i'm home! I got home and had a look....... OH MY GOD, the greater daemon is by FAR my favorite piece you've created to date! absolutely amazing, I think it's the way you create the dynamic frozen in the middle of a fight look that makes everything so good!
More awesome work, Guita! I really like the skin tone on the daemons.
Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the new daemon models? Anything jumping out at you as a "must have" or "can't wait to convert that" model? I'm not crazy about much of it myself, but I do see some conversion potential in the new Daemon engines. I think the Mauler-fiend could be converted to a pretty cool Nurgle centaur with a fat mutated torso coming out of the front rather than the long-necked reptoid head.
Thanks a lot for the kind words - appreciate them as always.

I think I feel the same way as you - not very impressed with them stock, but I can see A LOT of potential in the kits for conversions. I'll buy a couple of fiends to play around with, thats for sure.
I've been working on a (IMO) better looking Forgefiend, since I think it's looking a bit too much like a dinobot stock. I'm pretty pleased with where it's going - it fits a lot better into my Death Guard this way. I had a vision of it crawling forward on it's front legs, and it's pretty easy getting it to do this.
I'm also working on a counts as Typhus (gotta have plague zombies!) and contemplating a Dark Mechanicus detachment for the army.
Brilliant Guita! that is a much better looking fiend! may i ask if you just used the one kit for the conversion? or has it elements from what other models? I really like the image of it dragging it's body along!
Nerdfest: Yup, only used the Forgefiend kit - except the tongue, which is a chronos tendril.
Here's my counts as Typhus - sorry about the crappy pics, it's really hard to take a good pic of a white primed model. I forgot to take pics before the primer, but the savvy among you should be able to figure out where most of the bits come from - if not, ask.
I have to say, although I like the pose and movement of the Typhus model. I'm not sold on the head, I can't quite put my finger on what it is but it just doesn't feel right. Paint may solve this though.
Seems you've inspired me a great deal, GR; I decided to make a Typhus inspired by your's! After these pics were taken, I replaced the head with the one from the actual Typhus kit.
Thanks a lot! Typhus is almost done, but I wasn't completely satisfied with his scythe, so I made a new one fra a bit of brass rod, a talos weapon and some greenstuff. Much better.
Tonight I've been working on 14 plague zombies - I wondered long and hard on which models to get. In the end I decided on the mantic zombies, combined with ghoul parts, and some reposing, and they worked out pretty nice.
Also, I want some raptors, but the wasp thing (insect lower body wasn't really working out for me, so I made some out of the new raptors - need 2 more.
Crystal Geyser wrote: Awwww..I loved the wasp raptors but the new ones look amazing too! I like the way you combined the jump packs with chaos spawn wings
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and Typhus's new scythe is sick. No idea how I forgot to mention that the first time.
Yeah, I kinda liked them too, but something just wasn't clicking. Perhaps they were a bit too mutated, I don't know. I dig the new ones more.
Squigsquasher wrote: Typhus' new scythe looks incredible! The new raptors look good too!
The one thing I don't dig is the zombies. So many people use Mantic models, I expected something a little more original.
Yeah, I know - I guess I just got tired of scouring the net for usable plastic zombies - I can't get why nobody has made some really good plastic zombies. There must be a huge market for those. I mean, GW's look like crap, and mantics are very limited in the poses. However, mantics are by far the best choice, in my mind. I pretty happy with them overall. I also got a case of these:
... which look awesome - unfortunately they're about a head taller than my plague marines, which don't really work. So I settled for these, at least until GW comes up with a new kit.
I just spent most of tonight building the last raptors, priming the zombies, and doing all the zombies bases - damn, that took forever. Oh, I also got Typhus done. Hopefully pics of the finished zombies and Typhus very soon.
How about the Crypt Ghouls? They're shorter than Marines, look pretty good, and on top of that are GW models so you won't have to worry about bringing them into GW official stores and tournaments with their silly rules about what models you can use.
Squigsquasher; Actually, I hate the GW ghouls too. I don't participate in GW tournaments, so it's not really a problem. I like most of GWs minis, but I refuse to use an inferior miniature because of the brand.
Got the zombies done, and the Typhus counts-as too - I need a name for him though - suggestions?
As for naming suggestions, I quite like Biohazard's idea. Here's a couple more though, just in case:
Names:
Festus
Necrotius
Elam
Anthrax
Acerbus
Sputus
Bubonicus
Putrificus
Putris
Korpus
Violatus
Desiccus
Malus
Paretus
Epidemus
Pandemius
Prolaps
Mycidus
Ulkus
Morbus
Singultus (sounds awesome, yet it means "Hiccup". Which, in my opinion, makes it just that much better! )
Epithets:
The Corruptor
The Blighted
Bearer of the Doomscythe
The Vector
The Infectious
The Ravaged
Bringer of the plague
The Undying
The Afflicted
Really like how you've redone the Maulerfiend and Typhus. I'm trying to get myself to do creative stuff again and these new pages of your stuff are helping inspire me.
Lindsay40k - always nice to know that I can inspire someone with my work.
Thanks for all the suggestions and kind words. - I have decided on "Pandemion", shamelessly stolen from the Prophet on Bolter'n'chainsword. I've also written a bit of fluff, hope you enjoy it.
Pandemion, the scourge of life, leader of the Legio Morbidus.
Like Obitus the Undying, Daemon Prince lieutenant of the Death Guard, Pandemion, the Scourge of life, was once one of Mortarions Death Shroud. Of his past, almost nothing is known, due to the tradition of Mortarions Death Shroud being nameless, drawn from the ranks of the Death Guards first company, and receiving a plaque on the walls of memoriam on Barbarus, as one of the chapters great warriors, fallen in battle.
Since Mortarions elevation to daemonhood, he has rarely meddled in the affairs of his former legion, instead directing his attention to the plague planet, a planet deep inside the warp, meticulously reformed to resemble a warped, rotten and ravaged version of Barbarus. However, he is not blind in regards to the work of Typhus, formerly 1st.captain Typhon, host of the Destroyer Hive. Mortarion, though he has embraced Nurgle completely, is still bitter and twisted, and (rightfully) blames Typhus for the corruption of his legion, for turning his proud, unbreakable warriors into walking mounds of disease.
Furious that Nurgle has blessed Typhus so, and elevated him into a Herald of Nurgle, Mortarion decided that he would bless a warrior loyal to himself with similar boons, and chose one of his Death Shroud – thus Pandemion was created.
Pandemion is the host of vile and corrupted entity, known as “the Strain”. The Strain is in many ways similar to The Destroyer virus, but different in many others. It is a devastating virus, capable of turning flesh to liquid within seconds, of turning tissue to a bloody pulp, but also capable of mutating raw biomaterial into new organisms. The plaguedoctor of the Death Guard, Kroenen, has been known to subject astartes, captured or from the ranks of his own legion, to vile experiments with The Strain, hence creating the possessed, mutated creatures known as “The Strained” – So much more and so much less than the noble warriors they once were, now murderous creatures resembling huge maws, and a flux of bloody tendrils, clad in rotten warplate.
This, though, is not the only way The Strain can manifest itself. It can also be combined with daemonic possession, creating some of the horrifying war machines and daemon engines of the Legio Morbidus. It can be used as a purely destructive force, or by the will of Pandemion, used to reanimate those slain by it, into limping perverse resemblances of life, known as “The Untertoten”. These zombie-like creatures limper onto the battlefield, seeking only to destroy all life in their path.
Pandemion is a huge figure, towering above man and astartes alike. His Terminator warplate, once a beautiful hybrid of marble ceramite and emerald plasteel, is cracked, broken and warped, leaks and sores everywhere, bleeding blood, bile and pus from every joint and crack. From his shoulders emerge huge exhausts, leaking poisonous gasses and disgusting flying insects. At will, he can release The Strain through them, killing almost anyone in close range. From the back of his armour, four gigantic insect arms that writhe emerges, attacking any foe by punching trough their bodies. He bears no weapons, save for the gigantic Manreaper scythe used by the Death Shroud, slaughtering any who dares oppose him. It drips with blood, poisons and disease, and even single flesh wound from it often proves fatal.
If any trace of humanity at all remains within Pandemion is unknown. He never removes his helmet, much less his armour. It is speculated that he and The Strain has completely merged into a singular being, a horrible manifestation of one of the worst diseases the Universe has ever known.
One small thing, though: I guess the "Untertoten" monicker was taken from the Dust models, right? Just wanted to let you know that the German on this is a little iffy. What they probably mean is "Untoten" which means "undead". Or they really meant it that way in the first place, creating a portmanteau word that roughly translates to "Underdead" or "Below dead". Doesn't make a whole lot of sense in my opinion.
Anyway, just wanted to point that out. If you're actually going for a German name for these, "Untoten" would be the safe path to take

Looking forward to seeing more, as always!
Cheers,

Personally, I would much rather be underdead that undead.
Kraut: Yep, now that you mention it, I knew that - my only excuse is that I've only been taught german for 7 years. I'm still awful at that language.
Thanks a lot. The raptors are coming along nicely, almost done, and I got an idea which I had to make. I've been messing with an idea for a Dark Mechanicus type character based on the cairn wraith, but didn't really know what it should counts as. I've been looking into the codex, and I think the daemon weapon, The Burning Brand of Skalathrax is very interesting, so I thought I'd make a character that has some kind of vile pus/virus cannon - he is gonna hop around with my raptors, as a lord or a sorcerer. He'll give them some very nice shooting, and should add on some CC punch as well. Lots of work to be done yet, but I like where he's going:
Man, Guita, that is looking sweet. I really like that cairn wraith and the conversions I've seen of it, but I love how yours is much larger and imposing. Excited to see what else you do to him.
Yup, I'm nuts. Bonkers. Completely wack. But I just wasn't satisfied with Pandemion (counts as Typhus) - I basically just felt I had built a more dynamically posed Typhus, and not really a proper counts as - nor was he as impressive as I wanted. So I got this idea while trying to fall asleep a couple of nights ago - what if I used obliterator legs?
Here he is so far - I really like where this is going, and he's HUGE!
The torso is a really nice idea from one of the locals at my gaming club, several times GD winner Tue Kaae, combining the torso from a grey knight terminator with a regular terminator torso - It works great. The rebreather is an experiment, using a cut down old school CSM backpack.
That first pic where Typhus is staring down the lens is great, he certainly looks like the lean mean killing machine the his new profile describes him to as, well done!
Epic beyond reason, and I'm ashamed to admit it, but I -must- steal this idea! I miss the extra limbs, though; I guess I'll just have to keep them on mine! Also, mind linking me to a site where I can get the tool you use to make your cables?

Go ahead an nick it - that's the point of this blog anyway - to inspire people to do their own stuff. Please post a pic when you've done him.
Absolutely brilliant, GuitaRasmus! As usual, I might add. Could you please build something that looks really gakky for a change, to make us all feel a little better? On second thought: Don't do that!
One thing though: While this guy looks great, the points of contact between the torso and arms look a little spindly and could use bulking out a little: either by using GS or by adding a suitable bit. My suggestion would be the awesome chain-cloak that comes with the Chaos Lord on Manticore: Adding some of those chains to the model's shoulders on both sides should help to obscure the rather thin joints and solve the problem with the silhouette. I am quite confident you'll come up with a fantastic solutiion, though
That is just...wow! Astonishing work! +1'd definitely Would love to see a Thousand Son, would be interesting to see your take on it, and what ideas I could use
Wow, I really love the new Typhus (and everything else in this blog)!
I do feel like he could be a bit "bulkier" at the joints though (and I miss the big termite-stack/Destroyer Hive thing that your other Typhus was sporting ).
Either way, top notch work! This is how Chaos should look!
Such a characterful Typhus mini. Wow! Amazing use of bits there mate, I love it.
there's only one thing I'd like to point out... the head... I think I'd have used a more unique one. The one you've got has this "rank and file"-feel to it, being only a common SM helmet.
I love the Blight Drone very good use of the Aracharok spider all this is making me feel the call of Nurgle again..... So must get my Khorne and DE forces finished by the Summer.

I miss them a bit too, but I'm not too keen on ripping them off the first version as I only have one pair of the vents, and no bits site seem to have them.

I know what you mean. I quite like this helmet, but a more unique one would be awesome. Any suggestions? I've looked around a lot.

To be honest one of the most distinguishing things about Typhus is his helm - have you looked at using an older style helm, say Mk 3 or Mk 2 or even a WFB Chaos Warrior helm to get that 'bucket' feel? The one you've got there...odd as it sounds...conveys too much emotion. And I always saw Typhus as being a rather cold and emotionless figure to face, simply because the helmet gave nothing away - even the Mk 5 to Mk 7 helmets seem to have a bit too much 'face' to them.
And Typhus should really be a faceless killer, much like the diseases he brings along...
I have to agree with DarkstarSabre, although this isn't typhus, just a counts as, but I feel like he should have a less emotional helmet, I don't enjoy the "teeth" in the mouth piece
I agree with you - the head wasn't completely up to spec. It's a great head, by any measure, but I just wasn't feeling it, so I gave it another shot - this one, I'm in love with. It's based on a plaguebearer head with some greenstuff and a big horn:
The galaxy trembles and a name is whispered... Pandemion.
I like the new head, especially as it appears without eyes, while I was also a fan of the previous one I think this head sets him apart just enough to really be something great, I can't wait to see paint on him, that will really amazing then!
I would think about maybe adding some stitching or something to make it stand out a little more and give it some more character. Maybe make it look like Leather Face's mask from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Give him one, single, eye hole hidden beneath a mask made from the flayed skin of those ravaged by the Strain. Right now it looks like a face plate and looks rather flat and plain when compared to the rest of the model.
I think some more detail on the mask would give it a lot of character and menace.
