The photo's do take away the highlights, but i still agree, that my highlights are way too dark

@^ Me too. The words dont conflict with the picture, and the USA shows my country, and the pics are a bit better.

Well here are some little odds and ends im working on..
pic1- drawing done a couple months ago using greyscale prisma markers... turned out to look like an old man so i trashed it
pic2- drew this while the power was out for 20 min yesterday, just a generic IG soldier..
pic3,4,5,6- Here are the designs on the titan, i started with the "small" middle drawing, then did the 4ft drawing on the left, which left me with the 4.5 2d model on the right, but im still thinking of pulling it more at 5-5.5 feet
pic7 - this is just incase you didnt belive me, its one of the IG on the smaller left drawing (1-1.5 smaller than the final product)
pic8 - random ork for gaks and giggles
pic9,10,11,12 - Sgt. "Brick" Mauldlin, and Cpl. Bear Serk
pic13 - blurry group shot

RW the legs aren't in proportion with the rest of it for the imperator class titan.

what happened was i forgot the thighs and went straight into calves!

also remember the lower legs are home to an entire batallion of guard. so should be proportionate to that.

by remember i take that as - "do your research you dumb-ss!!" because well... i hadnt so i think that is my next step before builing, is to research the crap outta this thing!

but on a serious note the lower legs are bristling with defence weapons that are manned by the IG that it transports/servitors when the IG have disembarked. also the from toes are angled like steps. plus the crenelations on the upper body allow troops to move freely like battlements.

the toes i know are like stairs.. hmm

yep...gotta agree with childe here... the legs/feet are not up to scale...

tho the design as such seems pretty sound to me...

the other drawings look quite good... tho i have to say ...that bare chested fella ...you need to redo the limbs... they are a bit out of touch to the body in my opinion...

^^ that was my idea, but the real problem isnt what is going to be on it, it was just the scaling, of the legs mostly, the only thing i want predesigned and measured is the walking robot part, the actual city on top has a design and minimum hight, but really that part will get as big as it nature intends it to be

i was doing some measuring last night, and the titan itslef is 4ft tall, and thats without the giant city on top, so it should easily get to become 5-5.5ft

^lol i wasnt expecting anyone to get it, i was just angry so i didnt want to explain at the time (i spilled my entire container of new wash!)
but the building (which i still want posters for btw) is from a minature game called heroscape, and out of the many sets they had one that was marvel, this came in it..although i did add the stop sign which is from some train thing but i found it in a box in the garage, i also added the wireing, the 4501 little blox (computer key) and the flag (chaos warriors)
the storage crates where given to me by my father a few years back as they are "buisness cards" he got, they had some companies name and such on them..
and lastly the sandbags came from marty! where ever he got them, idk

That terrain looks awesome, works really well! You might not have put it together, but did you paint it? Kudos on the rust effects! I've been meaning to comment on your guard since i saw them a few days ago actually - really like where you're going with them! The brute with the HB in particular is really really well done. Sorry it's taken me so long to find your blog - should be much more of a regular from now on

^thanks scarp, yes i painted every last blop of it and am really glad you like the rust ( i was just winging it with the paints i had and to be honest, it was disapointingly easy.. i stippled/wipped graveyard earth (with the sponge from old metal model containters, then i did the same thing with a mix of graveyard earth and blazing orange... followed by a dribbly/dirty wash of gryph. sepia) im glad you like my guardsmen btw as most of my ideas are inspired by you,majortom,neil,and migs

Cool terrain - creates a real cinematic feel with your models (I like the plasma gunner in particular).

I love the ork stormboy - that is a perfect pose, full of movement (are you going to model flames out of the rocket section?) - I used some stormboyz as ork paratrooper/commando types and they are some of my favourite models.

The stuff produced by toposolitario is ace. It is the epitome of quick terrain. The ikube stuff and the containers will allow you to fill a battlefield in an hour or two of cutting and sticking. I've also built the 'Chickenhawk' in the past, which makes for a great valkyrie proxy (it's a little big though), or shuttle craft on a landing pad. Good luck with it.

well i didnt get to paint as much as i wanted to at gw since my pupils were dialated.. but i did basecoat parts of my pilot ... but the best part is that i got batteries for my camera! so after i take a swim, then take the PF pictures off, i will take pictures of any of the goodies i have yet to show you

^not yet, right now im painting my empire ( i am vastly off schedual with my AoP! ) but I thought I'd give you a quick taste....
pics 1-2 = a taste of the empire that i am painting currently, the better pics will come after this painting session (man i love having a camera with full batteries! makes picture taking less of an effort)
pics 3-6 = the space dwarf/Demiurg (not sure which yet) that is still wip, he needs to be smoothed, i need to trim so bits off of him, add cabling, some more dodads.. and figure out what to use for a gun.. i was going to modify this tau looking smg thingy i had but i lost it... any c&c on him would be helpfull as he's in a rough state right now
pics 7-10 = is the =][=scale pilot im painting up, only bascoated some bits and you cant make out some of his stuff, but by the end of this paint session im sure i will base coat/work on him more so you can make out more details

oh....! now that is a worthwhile awaited update!...

the Inq pilot looks interesting... how did that one end up in your claws? what is he for? just artful practice?...whatever reason... i bet he will look good... reminds me a lot of the late war german jäger soldiers...

the empire stuff looks good... the arms of your bannerbearer... how do you do them that way? i have a lot of these arms i have used but the painting of this striped stuff is rather apinfull... which is even better that yours looks quite good! what is your methode? and with those rather subdued blue hues you let the skin colors really pop... something i might have to think about too...


that demiurg is a nice new mini... i see he is still heavy in wip... what will you do to make the surfaces more smooth? your GS looks very bright? do you use much yellow in your mix? how about using LGS to smooth out some surfaces?...also the basic shape i think you nailed down pretty good... with the tau SMG this mini will be quite good looking! if it wouldn´t take ages to get to you i´d send you some of these to you... i have some spare ones too... also the tech level of the tau and the demiurg should fit together quite snugly...!

thanks for the comments vik! firstly the pilot is inspired by late war germans i might add, and he is the sgt. jackson model for that =][= game (with alot of GS changes of course) and i got him back when i first started gaming, because i thought he looked cool... and i didnt read that it was scaled differently so now its just going to be something to help me paint faces..
what i did for the stripes on the arms was this..
- primed black
- painted blue stripes with THE FANG (base)
- painted edge with RUSS GREY (layer)
- washed with AGRAX EARTHSHADE (shade)
- highlighted with RUSS GREY
- final highlight of FENRISIAN GREY (layer)
(this part is the space wolf armor from one of the newer white dwarves)
- then i just added a dab of graveyard earth on the very edge of the primed stripe, and that was it
finaly the demiurg, the gs definatly had too much yellow, only because i lost some of the blue.. so i thought "ehh i'll make do.." and not sure what to sand it with yet, i do have my trust dremel! and havent used the sanding bits yet so maybie that.... and with the tau smg, i have a freind who plays tau and hates them... maybie he will part with one... (next update after my daily comic book reading)

i would add LGS for smoothing the surfaces on the demiurg rather than sanding it... i bet this will go wrong... with the more yellow GS i bet it wont take good to sanding... left alone power tooled sanding...

thanks for the step by step RW on the arms... by the way... what kind of brush do you use for such delicate work?

and i too have an old Inq mini... that muti looking flagelant... one day i might use it for something 40k related...

what is this LGS you speak of?
and the brush i use for everything ( i need some new brushes all of them are 'dead' ) is and old '' 3/0 Round Watercolor" brush (thats what it says on it at least)
however i did forget that i DID wash the graveyard earth with earthide shade, then highlighted with graveyard earth.. sorry vik
