the freeswords looks stunning and full of charcter! as is the same with the wizard... by the way... do wizards in WHFB wear armor? does it interfer with their ability to cast? i recall that this was a problem in all major video games...
as for the biker... looks very cool...the bike and its rider could stand for khorne or slaneesh i think as the scheme might speak for both iirc... and i do like the way that model is progressing!

if that inerior of the tank is so excellent how i fear it is you would be in deep if you don´t find a way to show off that amount of detail! in all earnest i have speculated to make one from scratch one day... it is doable but only the outside sadly...
as for the wizard and armor dillema...well lets put it this way... in games i played i always choose the warrior as he can wear the plate mail...the wizards mostly waer just dresses...nuff said^^ so yeah... make that one a manly wizard!

gotcha, I figured you knew that I knew what you were talking about. Has Specialist Games produced anything new since the re-release of the Necromunda book (when 06-07?) tho? I think they still occasionally release ships for BFG, Blood Bowl is still popular. It seems that even Epic Armageddon has fizzled out.
Personally I think that a Bloodbowl box would be amazing and sell incredibly well. GW makes strange business decisions so who knows. Dreadfleet was a good example of all in one box gaming at it's finest. Two huge all in one box games, why stop?!

well the horns are only there to make him a tad wider, plus he is slowly falling into chaos (even though he is already "chaos") the brown is actually some packs/rolls because he dosent work with anyone he is a wanderer, used to be part of a mercenary group of heretics but after his team was sent into a planet that was blown up, he expected foul play. so he turned against his superiors and now chases down those who he belives wronged him (the list on his back) but in his quest for revenge he is slowly become more and more chaotic, whispers of a daemon talking of domination....
^ all this because of some moitves and stuff i rolled for but came up with the story with it

thank you both skalk and mr.marty! btw guys i played my 4th ish game of fantasy today.. 500 pt escalation tournie part 1 and i played vampires ......... he had hexraiths and i had no magical attacks, so in turn i had to drop a unit to get a wizard and cast flaming swords of ruin on my volleygun taking them all down turn 1! although at the end of the game it was his 8 guys vs my 10 and i missed in combat causing me to lose combat by 1 and i ran off the board .... I ALMOST WON!! but i didnt. (playing black crusade tomorrow!)
I've lost more than a few games by running off the board. It's a bit disheartening. I love the fact that out of everything you both had, a total of 18 regular troops were left. The ravages of war.
well i only had 20 swordsmen, a volleygun, warrior preist and fire wizard, so i had very very few guys which is why i had to shoot him down fast (nocking out those hexraiths, and one and a half units of skellies before they touched me)
One of the most disheartening moments I've ever had in WFB was when I had Wulfrik the Wanderer bring on a retinue of 39 Marauders behind my buddy's Dwarves and I was all set to crush him next turn, but he turned everything he had around and blasted me into a moral check which I failed and promptly ran off the board because I was right on the table edge.
Gahhh.
I got *STOMPED* in that game. Made a bunch of huge mistakes that helped him crush me, such as having two units of Chaos Warriors too close together so a single Gyrocopter was able to halt march moves and I kept getting blasted w/ cannons and organ guns as I slowly walked across the board. Whee.
Another major mistake was charing my very awesome and dead-hard Chaos Knights into his Slayers w/ a Champion in my unit, so instead of a crashing charge of death I *had* to issue a challenge and every single model in that unit could answer that challenge so they were locked in a tarpit the entire game. It was a pretty horrible experience all around, and I'm pretty sure I got completely tabled.
Quite a few lessons learned about fighting Dwarves for next time.

which gets me to a couple things.. 1 i forgot to mention that after i get a decent amount of empire built and painted and after my IG i plan on slowly getting some chaos dwarves! but more on that later... although before i buy my ig stuff im still planning the $$ exactly so i havent decided.. i'll have enough bodies to make 10 guys off the bat, but on the extra $ i got filming those tennis commercials i cant decide if i want to go either- more guys, revamp of my dread ,so completely new and better(im leaning twards this), or should i just make a tank or something.. help me out guys!
Chaos Dwarves. Ugh. Ugly little missile-heads. They should be CHAOS Dwarves. But that's a rant I've had for... a really long time.
ANYway, I say build a TANK and then make a unit to go with it. New color scheme, new approach to how you do things, it'll be a nice shakeup for your painting progress and kick-start the motivation.
aye.... that at least i can understand... and in between you will get times of doubt and sheer frustration... but in the ned... you save up big time on money spent and the feeling to have done something by yourself... pricelss in the best of sense...
.. hmm im going to have to try building smaller tanks and vehicles first.. just to get my feet wet in scratchbuilds before i build it.. but i know im going to have to start scratchbuilding someday, i am a guardsmen who likes my customisations!
^to be honest...the bigger a vehicle is you would like to copy...the easier it is too... smaller ones are far more tricky... you have to be more careful of scale and that can really be against you.... if you can get the treads for the tracks then you have the most part done already... those were always the most tricky part for me...lots of tiny detail that is a pain in the rear to make from scratch....
Vik, I bet the designers of the AT-ST and the Sentinel all had those same problems, I think it's particularly tricky with walkers, because of those reasons. but tanks...tanks can look cool almost any way.
what i have come to understand is that wlkers are fiddly because of the legs... there is plenty of detail...and since we all day to day are seeing lots of hydraulic tech around us.... construction sites are ever present for me... you expect a lot of said detail on walkers.... tanks on the other hand have a built in look on a subconcious leel within us... give a vehicle a suilable tacksystem and you have 60- 70% of the needed amount of work done already....the rest can be shaped and detailed however you like...
well i was thinking of trying out a buch of "paper templates" for ig civy vehicles, like some trucks and stuff. it will give me a base to work with, and i will add on from there

probibly only my 2 most recent models, am i acutaly proud of.. so i hope that i am now starting to get into the painting area that i believe i am worthy of

oh yeah... tho i have to admit... i have not that much patience to ever fully get the hang of some of the painting miracles some of these wizards here are performing... it is like cooking.... some make precious gems ... but my models are more like a full stomach^^ on a simple dish^^ and guess what sometimes it is just that what you need^^
my point exactly... besides... we live in a highly specialiced community... division of labor and all that stuff... so you being a super construction hobbiest... it seems only fair that you are not super in painting too^^...well this is a rather sad testament to my own failing...but well..,misery loves company i guess^^
Devlan Mud is considered skill in a bottle in my IRL circles. In other words you need no skill in painting if you wash the whole model in Devlan Mud drybrushing it with several layers of progressively lighter colors......
I used Dev Mud and Grif Sepia on almost every model I paint. Lazy? Maybe. Awesome results every time? Yep. Soooo... spend laborious hours on every "rank & file" trooper I have, or base white / wash green / Dev Mud / detail bitz / Grif Sepia / base / DONE!
I'll never win a Golden Daemon, but I'll never lose the "wicked awesome-looking fully painted army" award either, so I'll call it even.
i only recently get to work with devlan mud...and it is rather embarrising how good my minis turned out to be after that wash... embarrsing because i am a mediocre painter now... so it is only guesswork what i was before devlan mud...

...kill them first... really no snese to get otherwise around that... in my RP days i have been killed and tried to kill others players too... for good character acting you have to do the things that are not avoidable...you have to skip pleasantries...
@dave well killing the renegade catachan commissar will be simple.. its the other two (they are amazing which is why they want to die) one is an unkillible techpreist, has an =][= force field and blocks 50% of all damage.. plus he has a chaplins rosarius weapon thing, which is amazing. then the other spacemarine is a stormwarden (40k's william wallaces) who like khorne... thats never good.... and he runs around with a primitive claymore and does crazy damage, ive never seen him swing and not get a 1 shot kill with it
welp looks like im in the clear (for now) their characters got killed in an arena we put them in, yaaay.. but today we decided to attack an extreamly stong girl, who is all crazy from being exposed to the warp (she eats human hearts and rolls in their blood). we wernt supposed to, and our entire party was supposed to die (by supposed to i mean she was nearly unkillible) but a new character (wulfen) came in and almost 1shoted her... ahh the sweet smell of not dieing!

TY boys, now for a typed "update" well.. forgot to tell you (i think) about my chaos RPG man growing fairy wings.. well he did.. and i made em, looked nice, he fell and they broke, but they are still there, i'll try for pics tonight if i get some more work done on my Inquisitor, which leads me to my first Inquisitor, yes that is happening now, ( he is meant for Death Watch but out of my large group i am the only human and i'm about 2k xp from Inquisitor so im making him at that point) and no plans for painting just yet because i saw the new paints list and i liked what i saw, so waiting a bit
hmm, before i get the Inquisitor all up and running I want to work on his fluff, this is my idea (but its not put into story just yet, still toying with it)
basicaly when he was born on that ship, he had a twin, and bla bla exposed to warp at some point and his twin realised it and had him banish him to the warp.. later in fully chaosed up and rightfully PO'd Twin for some reason or other is curently chasing my character down, and although my character feels something odd, he dosent know for sure.. plus he's also scared he might have gotten some of that chaos in him too

ahh you can see the pictures of all those paints on the rumor thread here at dakka... besides that all i heard from my manager is that the paint should have more color pigment (like P3 paints), and things he didnt tell me but i saw where 2 new types of paints beeing glases (thin washes) and i forget what the other is called, but it is more gooey and meant for only drybrushing.. can get more info to you on saturday night though after i see em in person
so yesterday was fun, got a taste of the paints and.. two thumbs waay up for me, the shades and glases covered like no bodies buisness, the paint colors were very nice as well.. i like the metalic ledbelcher something alot, the texture paints are cool, i can see them being used for some nice nurgle effects as well, the dry paints where cool too, the metal being one i think will be most usefull......
but i also worked on my inquisitor, starting GSing his arm together, and i also riveted a dog (not a cat unfortinatly but still..)
now show us... show us quick and your long walk over to the riveting side is complete...:

now those fairy wings really disturbed me...all the highlights look very good! and i like the face...very scruffy ...but i think you need to see about those wings... the dots are not par with the rest of the mini...even for a fun project i think you should redo them! otherwise this is packing a hell of machismo!^^

only one very minor thing...the feet... i think they should be bigger...but the rest is just super! that´s what orcs are ment to look... love his gear... the gun looks menacing and convincing...that one is an orc even a SM would have to gukp before takling^^

the point where you covered the sword blade and the hilt together with GS... looks odd...same about the fur on the back... i think you sanded it? for my own opinion...sanding and GS never really works...better make a very thin layer over that...but the setup looks very good!

if by "what is he really", you mean "what model is he", (correct me if i am wrong) it is the wizard body, greatswordsmen head (shaved down), top hammer from that empire model that i made into the dragon hunting guy, nonstaff hand is the hand of a freecompany man who is pulling his arrow back (invisible string!)

thanks for the complement on the psyker, the reason why he is done is because i think he didnt look odd (pose wise, plus his face is less cartoony then the others, which is a plus) and how do i post a zoomable pic, because i would love for you to see the hundreds of rivets i dotted onto my psyker!

dont worry, the melta gun was only just cut and glued when you saw it, i dremeled it a bit and added a grip (which i think looks odd, so i'll post a pic later for suggestions), in the case of the dog, im not sure what you think is odd, so i'll try to get some better pics

and it seems that acacius wanted to be redone by himself^^ so yep...make him a new set! maybe even slightly alter the shape of those wings and make them a bit more torn butterfly ones...
well for the dragin hunter... all say pinning for those jobs... but honestly... sometimes i can´t picture this how to do^^ so instead of making it look like a fur... try to make some (forgot the name...) things SM have on their shoulders and so on those prayers and so on the pergament.... sorry that sounds dumb...but how are they called?
and if you work on the legs of yon orc... make the calves thicker too!

wow looking at the real drawing compared to computer pic.. the poor light steals alot of the detail.. hopefully new picture of it will do it some better justice, but untill then.. here is (the general location of them in the drawing) the rivets.. poked out by giant blobs (not actual size of rivets) i probibly got carpletunnel from making all them dots ,lol

damn... if he yelled every single time the rivet was placed he would surley yodled an opera...poor man...and double dedicated now... as you first draw those 240 rivets and now pointed them out...that makes it around 440 rivets in total...LOL...
by the way... i had a look at your gallery...and it is still not zoomabable... but i think i solved why so... your resolution of your pics is very low...

they are nice, but i would only see myself buying the mud one (unless you want to try nurgle effects!) and hehe silly vik, havent you heard.. devlan mud dosent exist anymore, earthshade is a brown wash, maybie close to devlan... but devalan was one of the ones that where completeley changed.. odd... oh and liquid greenstuff is like golden catpirates in a bottle, its great.. buy 11 bottles of it! and speaking of tinbits.. im going to miss that color, i loved it, hopefully the new one will be an exact match
