Yeah i get it but i wanted to add something that makes it dangerous to use it o i came up with an unstoppable bloodlust when i use it against strong targets.
Hm.. hate to be a criticizer but just leaping out of your tank, running through about 10 battle tanks and dozens of troops unscathed and having a duel with the enemies leader (who would never be so stupid as to fight a SPACE MARINE 1v1.. common sense here) in the middle of this massive tank battle.. then clambering up inside a baneblade and becoming... in control of it with your mysterious power and slaughtering all the enemies..

Just too much for me.
Unfortunately admuiral I would have to agree. Just a little OTT.
Yes i understand that it is allot. But in Its night and my armor is also black so its very hard to spot me from a tank. And i know my power may be really OTT but i just really like it and i know its OP but its so fun to have. And ATM if it continues like this i will most likely just go kill anyone (including marines) Until i die or am stopped so it can go very very wrong.
Oh and the only reason im going for the bane is because next post my last 2 land raiders are gonna get blown up and i need something to replace it.
That's FOURTEEN assorted heavy battle tanks and troop transports filled with, in all likelihood, the best troops they have..
And that's just the first two cohorts, which went ahead to lead the assault against our nine vehicles. The baneblade, escorted by three more LRMBT and three chimera's full of veteran, well equipped soldiers is just chilling at the back lines still, out of weapons range of the SM vehicles.
There is a point where you gotta take a step back and say "hang on a minute.."

If you know it's too over the top, then don't do it. You could've done a half dozen awesome tank battle posts instead of what you did.
I'd prefer it if you took this as a positive discussion, rather than us all ganging up on you for how you're playing.. take away from this what we're saying.. become a better roleplayer.
admiral, I think you should try and do a little less damage... You aren't Rephosus here
I am in the middle of the city where I have been lone wolfing it to the city center, and I have asked Lucius to join me, as he is the most sneaky, and also a sniper.
Toastedandy wrote:HAve to say, I did enjoy that "needed a true friend calm him down"
Having a one man op army reall does spoil the fun for the rest of the players.
Yeah, that's a great thing to focus on. His internal turmoil that he loses control of.. but taking the biggest tank and blowing everyone up in just a few lines?
Hey, i have amn idea for the ECRPG dudes, and these other blokes. Seeuing as these both take place at roughly the same era, what do people think about liking the two RPGs across the threads. Meaning, such and such happens, Night Lords Warshades fightalongside the Brotherhood of Orion on such and such a planet doing this and that and the other thing?
I heard it and tried to make it a little less OTT i only ripped one chimera apart and those servo arms are about as strong as a power fist and i have 4 of them so i think i can do that and the rest its around 12-15 tanks again 6-8 tanks of mine.

I'm gonna say no. It's just going to be horribly disorganized, and since everybody in the ECRPG has a character here, it's just simpler to keep them separate.
We discussed the idea of crossing the two games some 20 odd pages ago, it was decided against.. not least of all because people having two characters causes a large amount of clusterfuckery.
Exactly. City seems quite a lot safer compared to that.
Honestly though.. those still fighting in the trenches.. well, I don't hold high hopes for them..
It'd provide more reason for some of us to be unhappy with the captain if a lot of marines got slaughtered down there.. especially characters in the trenches that survive.
I posted and made a piece of the battle from all three the forces. Tell me if it is too OTT.
I think i can continue the battle for 2 maybe 3 posts like this but i really want to either capture/salvage the baneblade as a new command vehichle as i have no or 1 land raider left.
I felt sacrificing a Storm Bird, 1 out of 2 we have, not only makes sense given the enemies superior firepower (ensuring it was destroyed, not by Sahaal on purpose obviously, but it makes sense for the story.)
I felt that I gave justification for the Banblade being wrecked.
Toastedandy wrote:I agree, story wise, It would be much more flavorful to keep him.
BTW quality post there darkvoid
So whats the consensus now? Do we re-group, repair re equip and attack again?
I doubt we have the strength to attack the city now. Our armour is crippled, and the troops are scattered and broken.
Cheers buddy.
I suppose you lot outside should try repairs and see about sorting out the numerous wounded.. then we see what the captain is up to and those of us behind lines generally try to cause havoc and take control.
And as for them not being pushovers.. well.. I don't like to let anyone have an easy time.
But yeah it might be useful if we attacked an entire planet with more than just a single company. Sure, that'd have been enough if we did weeks and weeks long campaigns of hit and run.. but that would take far too long to roleplay.
The Night Lords went rogue before MOST chaos stuff, but in any case, that is up to your marine. By the way, I still have to play out my scenario with Lucius.

I look forward to it.. may even join in that little party.
@Deadshot - nice post there.. always good to see people sprucing things up a bit.
admiral9 wrote:Did my post where i showed what i really felt that i didn't do gak xD.
Hehe.. no worries man. Your job is to try and patch up those tanks.. they're more or less useless unless you can salvage parts from the tank graveyard and get them moving. Still.. even then you'll be lucky to get those vehicles up and running again.
I'm sure the master of the forge will think of something though, eh?
Fluffwise i can fix up a land raider in about a day where it would usually take a week with 10 tech-priests.
According to fluff my skills aren't for combat but more that i have huge amounts of knowledge and that i am one of the most knowledgeable members of the company.
And that i usually only enter combat when it is really really needed.

True, but even you can't perform miracles.. on a battlefield it's impossible to do serious repairs, regardless of skill.
Also, whichever one of you is sergeant of the Talons Of Fear.. just noticed that, well, they've been in two places at once.. with Morias and friends and then at the front lines as well.
Darn inconsistencies.

Uum i meant my post about the battle. Because after i posted you announced that nobody should post about the battle so that confused me a little.
And secondly it sounds like krieg wants to decapitate me.

I think Krieg wants to decapitate most people he meets..
I'll go give the main thread a quick read over.. and as for "nobody post in the main battle" because I was doing a bit of trickery to finish it, and I had a strong feeling that someone would find a way to take out the baneblade fairly soon unless I stepped in first.

This post still counts 100% buddy.. you gotta remember that in RPG's things happen simultaneously, or almost that - my post where I gave falsified orders to the baneblade commander incorporated several of the things that happened in your post too.. such as the predators and LRMBT's fighting it out.
As for getting experience for posting.. you'd be surprised how much more important it is to be able to write non-fight posts very well than battle scenes.
admiral9 wrote:Thats why i find it important to get on the ship or a more save area because there character development can really go and shine through.
Might be a good idea to extract the barely surviving vehicles (1 Land Raider and 2 Predators I think) along with the injured to the strike cruiser. Then call reinforcements from any nearby Imperial Army fleets or perhaps the forces from nearby loyal worlds whilst waiting for more of the grand company to travel to Torayo.
200-300 more Marines would do a lot to help.
A few army regiments wouldn't go amiss either..
In the meantime, the rest of us will secure the capital and hold out for a few days until reinforcements arrive.
Also, henceforth I suggest we use the following system, it's very useful and it's been done in a few games to great success. At the start of every IC post, put this above your writing:
Character: Location: Situation:
Example:
Character: Morias Kalvae Location: City Situation: In a firefight
Admiral, have you read any black library novels? I think it might help you to write for a difficult character such as a master of the forge if you did.
Posted i think through my dreams i am gonna reveal more and more about my past. and i will only have those dreams when i go out of control so i have a connection between the power and my family.
admiral9 wrote:I have only read horus rising so i have the basic knowledge of an pre-heresy character but that's it.
I've yet to read any of the pre-heresy novels.. though due to the diversity of writing styles I think the series wouldn't offer a particularly concise and reliable outlook on space marines.
Having read the entirety of the Ultramarines series and some of the Space Wolf series once upon a time, I can tell you they are BOTH very good to show how Marines act in a variety of physically and mentally strenuous situations. Sure, they take place in the 41st millennium but it's the same sort of stuff.
The SW book I read was the first of the series.. detailing Ragnar Blackmane's transformation from a young man to a fully-fledged Space Marine. The wolves use very different indoctrination rituals and tests than other chapters, but it gives you an idea of the sheer strength, fortitude and willpower that all indoctrination trials require.. and the effects it can have on them.
As for the Ultramarine series.. asides from being brilliant books and giving a great outlook of "the smurfs as they should be" (rather than the unbeatable poster boys image that characters such as Sicarius paint). Gives insight into a number of roles within a company, from sergeants to tech marines and captains. I highly suggest it, might be somewhat costly to buy the omnibus and then all three of the later books, but it is well worth it. Brilliant series from start to finish. Not to mention it gives some nice insight into the likes of chaos marines, necrons, demons, cultists, heretics, Tau, traitors, Tyranids and all manner of gruesome enemies too..
I loved seeing a reference to Ortega in Dawn of War 2 at one point.. gotta love it when the people writing games know their gak. Ortega is an outstanding character in the first book.
But i think i will get started with gathering some money to buy the ultramarines omnibus.
Definitely worth it mate, three brilliant novels, inspiring, intelligent, brutal masterpieces of fiction.
Just whatever you do, don't read C.S. Goto books..
And.. meh.. seems like you more or less didn't listen to what I said over PM before posting.
Actually thats what im working to from the dreams more and more will become known
Eventually it will all become clear i just want to add a little mystery to it.
By the way, Magnus, unless we want to create a new timeline, I suggest you hurry up and have the good captain promoted so that we don't end up killing him or some such along the way..
Just remembered.. again..
There's the issue of having the 7th claw in two places at once that needs resolving still.
In light of our resident Apothecary, I'd think the only 'doctor lines' we might be hearing are "Stop struggling.. or I might accidentally cut out the wrong organ.. wouldn't want that now would we?"
Don't worry i have a pretty good reason why and i think its perfectly allowed because apparently all of you are best buds with the primarch and the emperor so i think i would be allowed to do this..

I'm not!
Yes but over 6 of the people here had on their background Curze/The emperor brought them into the legion.
Just skim read some of the sheets. What bothers me more than the number of characters who were inducted by the emperor or curze or the sweet baby Jesus himself is that there are a fair few ignorant of basic SM fluff.
"Grew up this" "was an infamous doctor that" and other such phrases.. people are selected for the Astartes at, the very eldest, maybe 18 at a stretch. I'm fairly sure that 14-15 is described as old for candidates. It's to do with bodies being able to accept the new organs and implants that genetic enhancement comes with.

I did point it out some pages ago.
Not to worry, simply change it to him coming from a long line of renowned surgeons and doctors, and he was continuing the trend; a prodigy in the medical arts. Of course, Space Marine anatomy is a whole different thing, though he continued his medical work with as much gusto and lauded prestige as he had before induction.
Also, it seems Blap has been playing kiss chase with a daemonette of Slaanesh..
Toastedandy wrote:Having to work sucks. I'm back for the night, and am a little confused.
Has the city actually fallen? What happened to the surviving cohort that retreated to the city?
And how many astratus and vehicles are still alive/working outside the city?
Three vehicles, only one of which is even remotely repairable to continue limited fighting at present. I'd actually say a good 40-60 Marines left, due to the fact that not many players have lost more than 1 or 2 men under their command, except Robot who's lost about four and myself who has lost 6. As far as the two squads with Morias, they've lost something like a total of roughly 10 or so.
Yeah, other than that no marines have actually been written in as killed by you guys except for those I mentioned getting killed in my tank battle resolution post.
And if any of you do go editing your profiles.. maybe do them in the style of my character profile? I'd appreciate that.

Marines can easily survive having their neck torn out. They shut off their main lungs entirely and then solely use their artificial lung until bionics can be administered to replace the injured neck/throat.
And for the billionth time. What are we going to do about the inconsistency issue with the 7th claw being a PC squad and an NPC squad in two different places?!
Both and i know they have multi long thing so they can produce oxygen at a faster rate but i didn't know that if their head gets separated they could still live.

*sigh*
Massive fight happened for the first three trenches, including a giant tank battle. Something like 7 marine vehicles destroyed with the remaining three barely in one piece. A dozen and a half, maybe two dozen enemy tanks destroyed. Baneblade escaped with a few others.
Lots of Marines died, thousands of rebels were slaughtered.
Our Master of the Forge and Apothecary are nuts.
Sergeant Krieg is one brutal son of a bitch and gets the award for "most Night Lordy" by far.
Morias and friends took over a C+C outpost in the city, removed the jammer, informed you lot of the minefield and gave falsified orders to the enemy tank commander resulting in him retreating before he slaughtered all of the marines at the front. More to come from him tonight or tomorrow.
TGN's character found some loyalists in the city.
Blap has mad luck and is in the city with the captain. They fought the first daemonette. We're up against Slaanesh, it seems.
The champion and some others (I forget who, exactly) are in a waste tunnel that goes right under the city fighting mutated beasts or something.
That pretty much sums it up. Now go read the thread ya lazy git.
Yeah.. I was wondering how Squig managed to drop pod through the ground, or at the very least drop pod at the beginning of the tunnel and teleport several kilometres.
Does no one catch up on posts they miss?
And there was only one Daemon.
I'm curious. You spent hours waiting for one drop pod to work rather than simply using another?
