Popped into Hearthstone after hearing about the free packs, and beat a couple of games on Standard.

The C'Thon mechanic is pretty interesting. The C'Thon card (which everyone gets for free) is pretty boring in and of itself. It's an overpriced card that divides its attack value against every enemy on the board at the start of each turn.

The trick is that there are a bunch of cards that provide permanent bonuses to C'Thon no matter where the card is. So by the time you actually get C'Thon into play, it might be an insanely underpriced powerhouse. And most of the tricks used to deal with those sorts of cards (i.e. return to hand, etc...) won't work on C'Thon.

I haven't used it yet, though.

Booted up Planetside 2 for the first time in over a year. Couldn't run it. Ran over to my local computer store and bought 4GB of RAM. Run back to my place and shove that gak in my computers rear end. Run Planetside again. Goes perfectly. Don't go to uni the next two days due to a single FETH HEUG battle that was going on. I love it so much. It's under my most played games, right behind LOL and Mark of Chaos.

I recommend this game to anybody with more than 4GB of RAM.

Add me to the list of people who have been trying out the new Hearthstone set and loving it! C'thun is pretty cool if you live long enough to get him on the table. In one game recently though I got him and he killed a bunch of my opponent's stuff, but then my opponent (a Mage) dropped Polymorph and turned him into a sheep and then proceeded to win the game.

One thing I'm not happy about: it could be just bad luck but in 15 or so packs (3 free at the beginning, 5 for each Standard Wins challenge, plus some I bought with gold) I only pulled ONE epic card. So frustrating.

Played more Wasteland 2. Arsed up with scotchmo having dug up his wife's grave and having him turn on me. Had to kill him so lost a follower there. I should think more about consequences of my actions. Digging up graves indeed. Not sure why I didn't just reload but wasn't aware scotchmo was supposed to be so useful at the time.

Playing wasteland has sent me back to shadowrun my iPad too.

My only problem with it is that a lot of the time it grinds to a halt as players have a vehicle slugging match and infantry can't really participate at all aside from snipers killing heavies that are trying to lob rockets and engineers that are trying to repair tanks.

Three words for you- Anti Vehicle Grenades.

Also, C4. Every class (except the ONE CLASS THAT SHOULD HAVE IT) has access to it, so yeah.

Seriously, when I heard about the AMR, I was all like, "Sweet! Now I can annoy vehicles as an Infiltrator!"- but nope. Infiltrators aren't allowed to do jiggedy-squat to vehicles unless there's a handy cannon turret around. Heck, if we could just hack MANA turrets from enemy engineers, that'd even be better!

Really enjoying how much the meta for Hearthstone has been shaken up by WoTOG, also been occasionally dabbling in Bfg:A

I'm already getting tired of HS again, the new meta is basically the same three decks.

Everyone seem to be playing C'thun, Zoo, face shaman or hunter deck for the moment. I do believe the meta is far more healthy than it was before. Saying that, more interesting decks still require adventures or buying packs.

I am currently playing brawl. I usually play constructed to reach rank 20 or doing a daily quest. I think I'd quickly grow tired of facing the same deck types in standard.

Sadly, those take a ridiculous amount of certs and I barely get maybe a hundred a day at most. I'm trying to save up to try out different weapons...

I take it it's a paywall to earn more?

I managed to get the semi-auto sniper, which I sort of like more if only because it doesn't zoom out to work a bolt (which is really annoying to me), but it's so weak. Ah well.

It's a time=money thing. You can either buy their cash or just take the time. If you want to grind certs, combat medic is great, just focus on healing/resing.

They also have subscription service that boosts your income, IIRC. Although that may have changed after daybreak took over (it's been a long time since I've played).

I haven't use station cash for anything. I didn't think the AV grenades were that expensive- also, I'm assuming you're maining on the Smurfs- they're the only faction that gets a bolt-action as their default rifle, and most folks from other factions are crazy jealous of them.

SOE used to have days where you'd get double or triple the amount of station cash for the money you were spending. So if you were willing to spend money, and were willing to be patient, you could get a lot more station cash than normal. I don't know if Daybreak is copying that, though.

The Ghost in the Shell FPS, which is still in Early Access, is having a free weekend on Steam right now. So I hopped in and tried it out. I haven't played much in the way of multi-player FPS, so I can't comment on how it compares to other games. But I had some fun with it.

Doing some Civ 5, and hoping for Beyond Earth to go on some huge sale. I'm playing as Poland, so I get a free social policy on every new Era I enter. Currently, the game has reached 2017 AD, with me having tanks rolling around and whatnot. I'm going for a cultural victory, as I haven't done that yet.

Although my favorite part of this playthrough is my religion; the symbol is the archway, and I named it Baba Getu, in honor of the song from Civ 4, Baba Yetu, and the symbol is the closest thing to a gate. Bad puns are the best puns.

Played about 7 games of starcraft 2: heart of the swarm today as protoss and won 5 and lost 2. The last one i lost went on for about 30 something minutes between myself and a terran player. I honestly thought i had him but must've messed up. Those freaking widow mines didn't help in one case and i didn't know they could hit air.

For whatever reason most factions just can't handle me when i rush or try to destroy their mineral lines or hq's.

Chances are i'll keep doing well till i hit top tier silver like i always do. Yeah i realize i suck in comparison to all the diamond and platinum players but i don't have this down to a science.

This is a fun game for me but i don't love it enough to get really good at it and generally after a point i leave it for another game. Which will most likely happen when 'total war: warhammer' comes out.

Starcraft 2 is very grind oriented game and is anything but casual game. Its popularity is in decline, although I do like how Blizzard is trying to stimulate it with automated tournaments (Hearthstone would also be a good fit) and DLC campaigns.

Been playing Xcom 2 and enjoying it immensely, and spending most of my time customizing my soldiers....

Anyone else think that Xcom 2 is actually somewhat easier than 1? It's not necessarily a bad thing (at least to me), but in 1 I always felt ilke I was under the gun. Since all the regions had their own unhappiness bars, I felt constantly pressured to try and keep them all happy, which resulted in a lot of stress for me. With 2 all you have to do is try and take out alien facilities, and reduce the progress towards the project. It just feels like a lot less stress to me

XCOM2 definitely felt easier than 1. Your soldier abilities are more powerful and the conceal mechanic enables a devastating first strike. Taking out facilities can be done by a 1 man/woman squad in conceal. The terror missions feel easier as well, with more leeway in approach. Partly this feels like advent's fault, their soldiers are just far too weak to ever pose a significant threat. Also psy soldiers are just godly.

Just played a game of Starcraft 2: HotS and lost after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Crazy game and the guy just spammed ravens. I'm thinking wtf how do i even counter this?! He just spammed turrets, seeker missiles and those defense drones. Every time i tried hitting with AA he threw out defense drones and turrets and every time i tried killing with psi storm and possibly feedback he just ran away and threw turrets and more seeker missiles. It was frustrating and once he threw these turrets down it was enough firepower to pretty much destroy a base regardless of defense. To anybody that's ever thought ravens sucked screw you! Seriously an hour and 30 minutes of inability to counter that he started out with banshees and vikings. Just no way to handle the ravens. Towards the end he even had nukes and i was destroying all his extra bases and nuking his scv's with psi storm. Ugh it's just too much.

Mass ravens are decent. You'll likely capitulate long before you get to them and secure enough expansions to switch into battle cruisers or banshee/vikings.

As Protoss, you grow to abhor the Raven, the Marauder, the Liberator.

Sad thing is the Liberator looks like a cool unit aesthetically. Why did they give all the other factions bigger boosts in the protoss expansion. Seriously it's an odd thing to do.

I only have WoL and HotS so i play HotS currently.

Commander, 2nd hardest, its just about racing to psy trooper training, they are beasts and you can deploy them out of training. Once they get started they frequently get one strong power quickly after which 4-man squads are a breeze. Nothing is a problem for a 4-man psy team, its just OP.

Interesting. I was never that big into psi soldiers. Just wasn't my thing. You have to spend a lot of resources to get em there and any super high level ones would require a ridiculous amount of time in psi labs which at max can train 2 soldiers at a time and no more with a normal training time of 5 days per soldier. So yeah very time intensive so very valuable to keep alive.

Playing puppet master on Civ 5. No idea why, but it's just so much fun being a manipulative jerk to the other nations. Conquered the Zulus and the Spanish, leaving me with the Siamese and the Egyptians. Probably will conquer the Egyptians next, to deny them the culture victory they are so close to achieving, then conquering the Siamese, since they were the first nation I encountered, and it would book-end the game quite fittingly.

True, its expensive, but my strategy is to nab a few big powers, lance, mind control and such asap (can be done in 2-3 training rotations usually for one of them), prefer lance though, then switching out to train another recruit to gain that power. Once you collect 5-6 with one or more OP powers you can start filling out there trees, having enough field ops to replace wounded ones and easily being able to take one in training on mission (if s/he gets wounded you have a replacement ready to go into the room).

The trick really is to play the game as though the unlocks don't exist. Do a little practice in VR with the default available weapons, buy yourself one or two of the scopes you like, and just play as a basic shooter. The gameplay and scale of the combat is, I think, strong enough to support it as a game by itself even without the progression mechanic. And as you play, jumping into squads and doing your own thing alike, you'll slowly rack up both skill and certs until you can buy a new weapon or item that supports the playstyle you most enjoy- then you get certs that much faster, etc. etc.

But yes, it is a slow gain. I think so that A: people want to buy Daybreak Bucks, and 2: so that you don't unlock everything in a couple weeks, when this is meant to be a multi-year, if not Decades long game.

I just enjoy the fun you can have with your friends tbh. Get a squad of friends in a galaxy, fly it over to NC controlled space, ram 3 liberators then tell your squad to drop onto a highly populated eco lab, then watch them die in a half second, then fly away like the true troll you are. 10/10 would troll again.

Second one is similar (If I recall correctly), the third was a bit more formulaic and actiony, but still fun if you like the story and mechanics from the first two.

I signed back up for WoW again, just to check things out. Last time I played was 2010 apparently. I haven't really played regularly since the lich king expansion first came out.

I made a pandaren shaman and got up to level 65 I think before giving up. I liked the changes they did to update the old world game and all the new quests and updated locations... then burning crusade stuff was exactly the same as always. Even the graphics for all of the armor and stuff are old school looking. really disappointing :( So, I'm probably going to cancel again especially since I loved the Overwatch beta so much, I get a 2 week break to have a life then I'll be playing that a lot.

After a huge lack of success while playing Smite I'm starting to conclude that maybe MOBA games are just not for me. And then my teammates either berate or heckle me for lack of skill. Seriously, are all MOBA players donkey-caves? People like that shouldn't be allowed to play video games at all.

More leauge, got to level 18, so I now have keystone masteries. Been playing Twitch, he's super fun.

Also had to wipe my hard drive, so that means re-downloading all my games (on a 100kb/s speed no less). Probably just going to just re-download a few of the more played ones.

Got my origin account fixed too, so I might see if I can do BF4 on my connection. I can get 30 ping on league, so maybe?

Gonna be doing the last mission of xcom 2 tomorrow. Again....

Gotta say this game's appeal has waned significantly faster than 'enemy unknown'. As always end-game is the most boring part with the first 3, 4 or even 5 months being the only critical times. Normally if you make it beyond that it's just cruise control and feels like a brain dead monkey can handle it and not screw it up. Not a bad game though.

A superior repeater with superior ammo and killzone on a sniper are my waifu. Doesn't always go off (instant kill) when you want it to but it's hilarious when it does.

Any other game dynamics to it, even like for boss fights, do you have to figure out any tactics or just keep firing till your ammo runs out?

Well as far as tactics go, well yes, You have to avoid/dodge charges and AoE attacks when dealing with the larger versions of the soldiers of hell. But for the most part yes, I just seem to hold the triggger and drool at the grapical porn that is unfolding at my tv screen, the game looks very, very good. And some of the levels are some of the best I have seen in a game of this type.
But it also has a solid amount of lore, and you are rewarded for exploring and going of the beaten path, granted this is somethign I intend to do more of the next time I am going to play trough this game, As of now I am having too much fun gunning down everything that moves on screen.
Also BFG and Chainsaw makes for an epic combo

Been playing Heroes of the Storm a lot lately, and holy feth is it different to League of Legends. The no item system is bloody amazing, you can't overdose on salt because there is no 'all chat'. The heroes are amazing, only a little bit grindy, and there is a lot more variation in the Heroes, ie. Cho and Gall. The first Hero I've ever seen to be two player, and they pulled it off amazingly.

I'm currently level 14, so I still have much to learn, but so far, the best MOBA I've ever played.

I used to play it a lot and got to a high hero league rank (rank 6 and it looked promising to go higher) but then the matchmaking system kicked me in the gut and I got a loss streak to rank 17, completely sapping any interest in the game.

I recently picked it up again at a friend's request but it still causes me frustration.

While I wait and wait for Overwatch to get released, I decided to go back and try Wildstar again. I'm really glad they made it free to play, I didn't know that. I bought the game when it first came out, and only played it for about 3 months before I got bored.. didn't think it was worth the monthly subscription, but now that I know its free to play that will fit my casual gaming fix a lot better. I can log in and do a couple of quests here and there, rather than feeling like i have to be in there all the time to get my money's worth.

I decided to start fresh with a brand new engineer named Moohaha SnarfSnarf. Because Chua.

So, after repeated attempts by Blizzard to get me to come back to WoW (damn emails), I caved tonight and signed up for my free 7 days. 33gb install so I don't think I'll be playing before work or anything, but tomorrow...maybe.

Also came back to Diablo 3 recently, started a HC Seasonal character and having some fun - it really is a different game when you're constantly worried about dying.

Finally finished the first campaign for Supreme Commander as well. While the game is pretty good, I don't know, I think the computer cheats.

Blizz killed my interest in WoW a long time ago. And these days as I rent a room near my job, I don't have the internet connection to play online games anymore anyway.

So I'm going through another character in Fallout 4 in preparation for Far Harbour dropping tomorrow, and even then, I may start another as I haven't tried a Melee specialist yet. Definitely going to have to get in with the railroad for that one.

As time goes on i find myself interested in playing Act of Aggression again. It was a fun game back in the day but multiplayer just died down to nothing. Late game was absolutely brutal. The titanic battles with explosions everywhere was just phenomenal. As i said though multiplayer died down and then i stopped playing. If i could get a playing group together i'd play it again.

All that aside total war: warhammer is coming out in like 5-6 days and i already pre-ordered so AoA will probably be put on hold.

Also wish i had fallout 4. My computer can't handle it though. I think i'd need more RAM.

Update: 2 games vs hard ai usa computer and lost both. Somewhere around the time they get those stupid nlos (or was it nclos?). Gonna need to use stealth transports with infantry for taking those out or the stealth helos for sniping the nlos.

Have you tried using the VOIP in your PUGs (in Blacklight)? If I remember, it's Capslock by default- I remember one game just starting to give enemy positions (as best I could) and having others chime in and the whole team just... coagulate throughout the match.

Just keep it business, and I think it works alright.

I already beat the short campaign of it as vampire counts on normal difficulty. Not sure why people are saying the game is harder than other total war games. I stand by the statement that 'realm divide' in 'shogun 2' was the single hardest thing i had to deal with in any game outside of maybe dark souls and xcom: enemy unknown.

As far as warriors of chaos goes the 'hard' comment that it made was for starting position and early game difficulty. Later on not it matters less.

For me spreading vampire corruption was annoying. At first nobody wanted to really declare wars on me and i avoided some opponents as they had a bunch of allies and those wars always end up being super tough. It was such a pain too as i brought down archaeon and killed off one of the marauder tribes (Varg was the name) and there was only one left. Basically the only problem was the greenskins and i mostly had them in check. Then a small dwarf faction (a vassal i think) decides to go to war with me and brings in empire (the one that owned them) another super small dwarf faction and bretonnia (who i was trading with). I strike back and take out good chunks of the empire. I take about 1/3 to a 1/2 of the empire's territory before i start to see any meaningful resistance. Keep in mind at this point everybody is fighting me except one norsca tribe that just didn't like me.

What bothers me most about this is how much work i did and was in many ways a very nice vampire to the 'good' guys and they just spat it back in my face and tried to annihilate me. I know the game is called 'total war' but they were 'total ***es'. Anyway i start receiving some massive resistance on every side and then make peace with bretonnia to calm things down a bit. At that point i could manage. I do find it odd the greenskins were just sorta building up armies and not attacking with them for the most part (least to my knowledge or at least not me). It was just a bit odd is all.

Anyway i won the vampire counts short campaign. Still took like 265-285 turns or so to do. I think i'll go back and face bretonnia now as they're the only thing i have to kill to get a long campaign victory too.

Every nation has an "Aversion" stat on their diplomacy screen that appears to exist solely to force a nation to be hostile to its designated "disliked" races. So for instance, all of the Empire factions have a negative Aversion modifier when dealing with Vampire Count factions. Since, unlike all of the other diplomacy modifiers, the Aversion stat never reduces itself to zero, you'll have to constantly work hard to keep a positive diplomatic rating with nations that have it toward you.

And on another note, I would like to echo what others have said, and point out that the tutorial for this game sucks.

My brother got it, and was talking about his experience in the Dwarf campaign. Took him forever (and an orcish army popping up in the middle of his territory and conquering one of his cities while my brother's main army was elsewhere) to realize what "Stances" were for armies. And more importantly, that stances enable dwarves and orcs to "move underground".

Payday 2 got a nice skill tree overhaul a few days ago, completely shaking up the meta and making builds a whole lot more fun and useful. feth the witches who say otherwise.

Also decided to get Sydney, she's fun. Now if only her pager lines were as funny as those done by Jimmy..

My poorly named space explorers are still doing fairly well in Stellaris, although being so peaceful is kind of boring. Currently working on another faction or two so they're friendly and open to joining our alliance. Just developed Federation technology and while I'm not exactly sure what that does... sounds like an upgrade from alliance. Need a round four dudes to make it happen.

I feel like I'm getting a bit blocked for progress on account of my race's preference for water planets, bad adaptability trait, and the fact that I'm not sure that I've yet ONCE seen the tech for colonizing non-ocean worlds pop up on the list of things I can research. Add to that hyperspace/lane/whatever travel and I'm about as expanded as I'm gonna get until one of those technologies shows up. Had to make an outpost just to snag a few more systems into the warm embrace of my scary looking fishdudes.

Humorously enough, that outpost was in the Sol system, so I'm currently attempting to raise renaissance level humanity to junior space travelers who will hopefully be indebted to me and wont y'know overthrow my empire and burn the galaxy down around their own ears. It's humans so... not optimistic.

Started a second game in a smaller galaxy with another random (maybe fungi?) race that's militaristic and am currently engaging the first aliens we ever met in a war to cede their home planet to my faction. I figure if I get all aggressive in another save, my starfish dudes won't have any lapses of judgement.

Haha, nah turns out they're actually Molluscoid apparently so definitely not orks.

They managed to defeat and subjugate their nearest neighbor, and the massed slave armies they drew from the populace proved instrumental (or well, cost 1/3 the price of the regular guys!) in forcing the other two factions to become my vassals. Technically that game is won, although I could do the 40% of the territory owned by me one too. Or just keep sandboxing, I guess there will eventually be end-game-ish events like robot uprisings and ancient fallen empires to deal with.

And my original race is still kicking around too.

A good buy, I dunno how long it will hold my interest in the long term, but it's definitely fairly relaxing compared to my more actiony titles.

Doing a new play through of The Witcher 3 so I can play the DLCs, now that I've got internet connection back for my PS4. Blood and Wine looks awesome so I'm stoked to play it, shame I won't be able to for a while, given how long it'll take to get to level 30 and do the main game. The DLCs are for level 30+, right? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere...

We've gone back into Payday 2 full-time now it seems.

The redone skill trees are a blast to play around with, much more flexible and logically put together, plus paired with some of the newer perk decks.. suddenly going loud isn't that much of a bother any more.

Hopefully I'll be able to get to Infamy level 5 tonight or tomorrow.

Dark Souls was on sale on Steam for a fiver, so I picked it up.

I'm quite pleased with myself by killing the tutorial boss after only a couple of deaths... Which is probably not something to be pleased about, but having seen people spend an 90 minutes trying to kill the first boss in DS3 online, I think I'm going to let myself feel pleased with myself.

So, got to the shrine, met the first npc, chatted to him a bunch, where he talks about. "Oh, so, you can restore your humanity by killing a healthy undead." Or something. Then he added, "no, don't even think about it..."

Long story short, I've learned how to parry iin the game...

I beat Shadow of Mordor. It was fun, but got progressively easier as time went on. I don't even count the last two boss fights as fights. It was just smashing the same button, or hitting random buttons in a sequence. Until that point it was a blast though.

The hardest bit for me was trying to get to 'The Tower' or whatever his name is. I went through the entire game not dominating any warlords because thats cheap as hell, and when the level started my jaw basically dropped. Still managed to beat it though, only it took a lot of sweating, pausing, water and EXTREME luck. After I finished the level, I started dominating cool looking Uruks because I thought that there would probably be another level like that, and, lo and behold, the second last bit in the last level is a 5vWarlord fight. Which I just let them fight it out. In short, my guys lost and I had to 3v1 them. And the only reason I found those levels hard was because my controller was very fragile, and rapidly pressing buttons wrecks it.

It is now sitting somewhere in my house with crayon drawings on it.

Almost surprised they keep popping out updates. I played it through once or twice but it was ages ago. Switched to starbound but never really got too into it (still don't think it was done at the time...if it even is now). I don't have the time to spend to build the really amazing things that people do and other than that playing through once is about as long as they get my attention.

I rarely finish a game.

Fallout 4 I have over 400 hours in, and have never got to the point where I actively have to choose a faction. There's just too much shiny stuff that keeps distracting me. I have one character that's going to side with the Brotherhood, one that's going to side with the Institute, one who's Minutemen all the way, and a few others I haven't made my mind up about yet. But one is in limbo near the end of Automatron, another is currently bumming around Far Harbour, one is scouring the wasteland for Concrete for a high-tech Sanctuary, and another is looking at a huge main settlement at the drive-in with self-contained water, food, and power that no enemy will ever be able to get to.

And other than that, I'm filling those dreary, wet hours with classic games from GoG.Com, such as X-wing, TIE Fighter, and others.

Still on Stellaris. It's a lot of fun, but I'm really bad at it. I wish it has an easy-mode so I could practice, sort of how I did for Civ V. Although I might try and make a pseudo easy-mode by getting mods to boost all the production by 25% or something.

Fun fact: There's a hard-to-get canon ending where you can choose three factions and have them all be at peace with each other.

You can probably guess which three.

Whats the issue there? You have plenty of room to expand in both directions and as you already have a larger fleet capacity than the other empire you could just conquer/vassalise it. You could certainly knock out the outpost without much trouble although you will need a larger fleet to take out the space port.

You will always start near to at least 1 other race, just be glad that it wasn't a Fallen Empire...

I have given up on Stellaris for the moment, way too many broken mechanics and poorly balanced areas. In a few months it should be a much better game.

Started Anima: Gate of Memories. It was released on Steam on the 2nd, and is set in the game world from the RPG/Miniatures game.

It's an over the shoulder game for the most part, with you running around and zapping things at range, or hitting them at close range. More or less standard fare. The twist is that the protagonist - a young woman called The Bearer of Calamities - is bound to a rather dark entity named 'Ergo'. Ergo was trapped in a book centuries earlier after trying to overthrow the Emperor (because he was bored and someone said he couldn't do it), and as part of the binding process to Bearer, he consumed her name. As a result of the binding, he can take her place in the real world. Both Bearer and Ergo have more or less the same move set. But you can develop their skills separately, and equip them with different pieces of gear that will give them different strengths and focuses.

I've only put a few hours into the game, so I've no idea how deep into the setting the game goes.

It's not spectacular. But it's fun. And it only cost me $20.

Also, Ergo's a snarky, sarcastic, creep (he constantly calls Bearer 'baby'), with some amusing bits of dialogue that will suddenly pop up from time to time. For instance, at one point Ergo starts singing a song about being trapped in a book, to the tune of 'Reading Rainbow'.

The single biggest complaint that I have about the game is that when you enter certain rooms, or certain things happen in the game, it'll suddenly switch to a top-down view. In and of itself, that's fine, as the view generally makes it easier to see the enemies that try and swarm you from all sides whenever it happens. But the controls suddenly change whenever it happens, which throws me off.

Got three 12-0 arena runs in Hearthstone within 6 runs.
1st one was a pali deck with two muster for battles, and two truesilvers. Easiest 12-0 in my life.
2nd was a shaman deck with two 1/3 troggs and two wind elementals, along with Alakir and three Earth Elementals. I also drafted two lightning storms back to back, which was pretty sweet.
3rd was an altered handlock that I drafted perfect picks for. Drafted a Sylvanus, a Nefarian and mr C'thun. Only C'thun buffing cards I got were the beckoner, and the one that gives +1/1 at the end of your turn. It came out as a 9/9, but it was still quite op.

Came out of those runs with 400ish gold, 150 dust and four packs. All in all pretty gak.

I downloaded NBA2K16 for free from PSN. I'm normally not into sports games but my niece likes them and watches basketball so I picked it up so I can have a game we can play together. It's actually a really well done game. \

There's a free Soccer (Club Evolution, I think) game on PSN I also downloaded, which I haven't tried yet (my niece is also a soccer player). I suspect these sports franchises are giving away their 2016 titles as promotion for their 2017 titles. I hope this starts a trend, because I like having sports games, but wouldn never really be motivated to pay for one, and I don't care about having the most current game.

I'm also casually playing through The Last of Us. Very fun game, though I preferred the controls for Uncharted.

I downloaded the no clustered starts mod, and that helped a lot. My first finished (at least to my satisfcation, because feth those win conditions) game happened too. I had an alliance of me and the three most powerful empires (besides the fallen ones). There was pretty much nothing the rest of the empires could do as they were all fractured into different alliances and federations at that point. It was just a matter of time before we absorbed them all, and my computer couldn't handle all the calculations as fast, so the days were going by much slower.

I don't mind starts like that, unless I'm playing some kind of especially pacifist race. I mean that's totally legit, but it's the only time such close quarters would bother me. So far the AI hasn't been able to contest an early push very well. I'm sure it throws my tech and development out of whack but getting neighbors like that off my back is entertaining. If you're playing a race that tolerates slavery well, then you can get one or two super-colonies early on by converting the home worlds of those guys surrounding you. Forcing them to be vassals can work but I find it requires a lot more management. You could also liberate all their planets. They'll most likely reform a new government straight away but it should be more in line with your own race so you should get along better.

I guess it's not as fun unless you're willing to eat your closest neighbor or two, but I find that's usually what needs to happen for me to have breathing room.

It just gives a massive advantage to the nations on the outside, they can just grow and grow without needing to war at all, and if someone does try to war against them, well they already have more stuff so they'll probably win. The ones stuck in the middle are just kind of boned unless they go for early and frequent wars. And if the ones on the edge DO war inwardly, it becomes even more untenable.

I'm not much of a warmonger to begin with, mind you.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense. I guess my first race got lucky and had only sort of close neighbors, and the other two more aggressive races didn't mind eating the closer neighbors that spawned. But you're right, if my first race had been in that squeeze they'd be slowed down and picking fights later on is a lot trickier than doing it from one planet on.

From my position in the screenshot I posted, I eventually had to war with the guy to my left because on the arm I jumped to there was sod all, and a Fallen Empire was blocking me from going further along it.

This was before the corvette rebalance, so my fleet of corvettes/destroyers got creamed by massed corvettes.

Went a tad nuts on mod hunting for Civ 5. Now I think I've doubled the amount of playable civs. Also found civs I have absolutely no intention of conquering due to being so darn friendly or having a leader I like, but the result is kind of interesting. Instead of trying to win against them, the goal shifts into trying to help that nation win.

Also playing Unreal tournament. It's a decent replacement for Halo so far. Offline matches, horde and control point modes, and a lot of maps and characters to choose from. Might look into the modding community later on to see what's there (heard there was a Halo mod in case of nostalgia).

More total war warhammer as the Empire faction. I find it absolutely amazing how potent a level 3-4 castle is with walls and upgraded to the highest level. I mean i can only imagine what a level 5 city with full walls is like. Basically i got attacked with multiple enemy's armies sieging these areas and was able to hold out a while before they decided to attack. I end up fighting them and they just can't make it through the walls. Even elite enemy armies get destroyed though admittedly the enemy A.I. seems to not understand how to siege properly. Most of the time they use ladders and sometimes just abandon their equipment which is pretty stupid.

Anyway i suppose i should've figured out long ago that you wall up and build as many defenses as possible around enemy borders but between confederating allies and getting new enemies here and there the enemy borders shift. Also there are now no minor bretonnian or empire factions left (either confederated by me mostly or mostly destroyed in the case of bretonnia).

It's pretty much just the greenskins and the various chaos factions. The undead were mostly all destroyed a long time ago but i finished em off because corruption annoys me. Also mostly destroyed all the enemy dwarf factions.

Playing hyperdimension neptunia rebirth v1. Pretty simple jrpg that's pretty light hearted and amusing. Lots of video game references and self referential / 4th wall jokes. Bit much of Japanese trademark fanservice but that comes with the territory. For $4something on the steam sale, I'm not complaining. The real question is whether I buy the other two while they're similarly cheap.

Playing Medieval 2: Total War in french. So I have no idea what I'm doing half the time. From what I gather (playing as the French), the pope told me not to attack Britain, I got forced to pay money to Britain for no damn reason, and then they were surprised when I:

-Slaughtered a couple thousand of their men
-Ransomed captives for more than triple the sum they extorted from me
-Stole Caen from them.

Pope seems cool with it though.

I picked that up a while back. The concept is pretty amusing. And the game itself is fun.

Unfortunately, I didn't get very far into it due to being distracted by other stuff. But I was just thinking the other day that I ought to start it over.

Finished up clear sky's story. It definitely has a lot of improvements from SoC, but also quite a few changes I don't like. The upgrade system is an awesome addition, but a little weird (why can't I have anomaly protection with night-vision). The faction system is cool, I'll have to go back and look at that some more. You can repair stuff now, which is great, but things also degrade way too quickly. Also, I find it annoying that attachments (such as grenade launchers) require upgrades. I should be able to attack an under-barrel launcher to an accurate assault rifle. The change from wibbly air to having a detector is a good addition for anomalies, but the detector should really start beeping sooner. Some enemies (zombies, bloodsuckers) are far too bullet-spongy. A single head-shot from an assault rifle should really take out the zombies, two at most. I shouldn't have to pour 10 rounds into them. They are basically just slow humans, but much, much, harder to kill, and I think they might be a bit less accurate. Bloodsuckers would be fine, but they also hit like a runaway van, and can turn invisible, so it seems a bit much. In fact, most enemies seem to have a lot more health. I liked it in SoC where everything died quickly, including you. I like that you can buy and attach suppressors now, but it's annoying that most of the 9x18/9x19 pistols can use them. In fact, most pistols can't use them. Sniper rifles are still annoying hard to find, but that's more of a personal thing for my play-style, so it's OK.

Oh yes, that's a must. As I recall, it's going to be all modern UI and controls - mouse look for a start!

I have been trying to download the demo today whilst I was at work. Hope it's complete by now as otherwise it'll have failed again and I will not be able to try it tonight. Even without the demo, however, I'm still going to back it again. Will have to see about pledging a small amount if I can get the ability to increase once I have the money - about 2 weeks after the campaign ends. Most campaigns will allow that, so I'm confident this one will too.

Still having fun with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 1, and picked up the other two in the series from steam during the sale. It's goofy and the references are fairly amusing when I catch them.

Still thinking of something different for the next game. Maybe a misfits/weird classes run of BG-BG2-BG2:ToB or something. Weirder classes like dragon disciple, dark moon monk, beastmaster ranger (need a handicap), and so on. Having weird tools to use may make the game more interesting, or possibly less fun, hard to tell till I dig in. Probably better (for me at least) than trying something like a solo clear or a single class challenge etc. Oooh I see they also have a Shaman class... has that always been there since EE? Hmm, druid that casts like a sorcerer you say...

The new System Shock demo. It's everything I remember about the original. You are nicely dumped in at the deep end having woken from a 6 month healing coma on a space station to find that most of the crew are dead, the rest have been converted into things you will have to kill - even the bots want you dead.

You start out with nothing, but are very quickly forced into an area where you will be able to pick up some important items - including the key to get you out of the very restrictive area and a piece of pipe as your first weapon.

The game rewards looking at everything, and exploring everywhere. It is quite easy to miss the area where you can pick up your first gun, and trying to take everything out with a pipe means frequent visits to the autodoc.

Excellent game, heartily recommended, wish I could afford to get the pledge level I wanted on Kickstarter, but have needed the money elsewhere, unfortunately. I will have to see if they will allow me to take out the smallest pledge and increase it after the campaign ends.

Dunno about dark souls but my Afterglow from Walmart is kicking butt in general. Wireless though, not as cheap but I can't have cords around my baby and cat lol. PS style too, never got used to Xbox pattern.

Rolled a custom party for BG:EE, looks like they further streamlined and optimized the UI since they first released it. That, or I'm really forgetful. The zoom, loot window, and the way stuff looks in the menus is neat. I kinda miss the layout for the character sheets, think the new style is closer to IWD2.

Not sure I'll play alot, needs more attention than Neptunia which I'm still trying to finish.

I played in a 5 team Overwatch tournament. - We came second last, yay us! - In other words, we won one pairing out of our 4 games.

One thing I find kind of hard to do is working out whether I contributed 'properly' to the game. EG, we lose a game, was it because of my choices? It's hard for me to tell and often the stats / voting options don't give a real picture.

I think that's the biggest dilemma any OW player is going to have. Resurrect a single player or wait as Mercy, exposing yourself (any competent team is going to prioritise you), initiating as tank, looking at team and figuring if you need another tank or something else. Those aren't easy questions and sometimes I've felt that I did well (took reasonable risks, had good position) but we still lost horribly.

Playing co-op Space Marine at the moment.

I was actually having some pretty good luck on Overwatch the other night. I didn't win every game, but every game was closely-matched, they usually came down to the wire and were all hard-fought games. And no one acted like an ass, either, it was amazing!

It really sucks though when you're in full tryhard mode and you're giving it everything you got but your team just can't push the cart that extra meter (literally, one meter away from a win on Gibraltar).

With Mercy I tend to save my rez for when I can at least get 2 people. I don't usually "waste" it for 1 unless I'm confident I can farm charge fairly quickly (thanks Roadhog) or it's desperate, like we're in or about to be in Overtime and we need to stall.

Anyway, I'm addicted to Pokemon...again. I feel like a 5th grader, except this time I'm driving all over town excitedly flicking balls at things.

Dead Space 1 and.2 were great, and they were honestly the first "horror" games that truly had scary moments for me. I was a bit disappointed by 3, it was still a decent game, but for me it lacked that feeling of "Oh my God I am going to die here"

I've not played them (own them all though, because humblebundle).

It's kinda a weird thing I'm told. People like Deadspace 1 and 2 because of the scariness and are then disappointed by Deadspace 3.

Conversely, people really, really love Deadspace 3 as one of the best cooperative games out there. Then they end up going, "what the heck is going on here?" when they look at the first two games.

Heats of Iron IV. The controls are a little obtuse (I still can;t figure out how to re-base planes), but otherwise it;s quite fun. The war proper hasn't started yet, but I've managed to stay neutral so far.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I picked Japan, and ended up joining the allies, and have basically been pottering around SE Asia with little to do, so I sent my main fleet and one of my armies as an expeditionary to help out the allies in Europe. I did the "warlords" thing after puppeting China, and was struggling to defeat communist china (due to my own inability to attack, I had like 5x the troops, and much better tech, but I don't really understand the contorls), and who should attack me but fething Russia. Russia had already withdrawn it's troops from the border around Manchuria, so had left only a few troops, expecting Germany to attack Russia, and me not to have to deal with them, So I'm getting buried in Russian troops, as I never made too many, focusing my resources on the navy. Mainland Japan is safe, as the bulk of my navy is still in the pacific ocean, and Russia doesn't really have a fleet to speak of, but I had improved Manchuria's industry quite a bit, and certainly don't want to lose the resources. The good thing is that most of the non-China parts of Asia are rushing to my aid, and who should send a massive army to my aid but fething American (which is rather the opposite of what happened, historically speaking). So now it's just the question if we can get all the areas back from Russia (and I'm fine just getting it back and declaring peace), and we'll see if Germany attacks Russia or if they team up, which could prove fatal to the allies. We'll see.

We'll see.

That's rather tame all things considered. Once you get to grips with the controls you can do some really outlandish stuff. For instance, I turned the Netherlands into a fascist state in 1937 and proceeded to land paratroopers in london effectively taking them out of the war before poland was even invaded. America never joined the allies and we turned mexico and Canada into fascists which eventually started eating the USA. Europe is 100% fascist and we're taking over russia and africa.

Stellaris

First game, crushed myself under debt until I got a handle on what resources are used by what

Second game, much more stable but had a bunch of AIs including 2 advance start AIs spawn all clustered around me, so only had about 3 planets I could colonize by the time colony ships were finally available and by that time everyone around me was "Overwhelming"

Third game has been -much- more successful. I've managed to colonize about 15 planets, have one of the larger small empires, and still have some room to grow.

Well, the combined forces of Japan and the troops the US could spare halted the Russians at North Korea, with puppeted China holding firm as well. Meanwhile in Europe, Denmark, and a section of France held on, with help from a carrier-heavy Japanese fleet, and a bunch of planes. And, out of nowhere, Russia had a democratic Civil war, allowing us to seize a bunch of territory from the soviet union. Democratic Russia also joined the Allies, and after the Soviet Union was defeated, I got all my territories back. And then, after sending one of my armies and another fleet. The axis largely has conceded, Bulgaria and Romania are all that is left, and I got Sardinia out of it. I'm turning it into a fortress island with level 10 sea forts on all squares, and setting up production so it can be my European supply outpost if I need it.

Be careful when using mods, my better half has been plagued by issues caused by Mods, mainly faction unlockers and such. But the minor ones work well enough such as the conquer everywhere mod and cosmeticall changes

Hyperdimension Neptunia something something blah blah 1 complete. Installed 2, why not.

I mean you could probably play through plus that game for hours and hours but I'd like to see the other two before I get that invested.

Beating a boss was getting painful at the end though, not due to difficulty but because everyone would level up and there were nearly 20 characters in the party. It was a chain of everyone doing their level up cheer.

Good to know. Haven't tried any mods yet, but I was looking at some of the faction ones with hope. Really, I always preferred Estalia and Kislev and the other places like that to the Empire.

I can not play the dwarves to save my life. As a die hard TW multiplayer fan I've become too mobile dependent to like their play style. I also find them hilariously easy to stomp into paste. I can win with the dwarves but it is always by the skin of my teeth.

I killed about 6 armies of theirs with just one of mine at third health. It didn't help they had some armies of all siege engines coming at me.

Edit
Which is really weird since I'm a spartan aficionado from Rome 2, but even they had some basic disposable cavalry. The only other army I could play better was Carthage with their crazy good cavalry.

Xcom 2 on legendary difficulty (so hardest). More enemies, more hp on enemies, all times increased on the global map (injury, time to contact, time to add relays, research times up to a ridiculous level, construction time and just about everything that takes time in general except the little resources rewards you get for successful mission), costs are also higher esp. on anything worth a ****. Basically it's the hardest time i've ever had. Even with good luck there's still the possibility to get the wrong missions and get to an objective one turn too late or not have the right guys left for a mission. Also if 3 patrols activate on you all at once there's nothing you can really do except evac if possible. Trust me you will lose your whole team against those odds nearly every time. Construction boost helps a ton but i dunno if heal boost does on resistance hq bonus.

It is so hard. I often get down to one territory because aliens can annihilate areas in retaliation so easily even by just one civilian and often they shoot civvies as you fight the aliens like when you stun them.

Think the prices are nuts in 2nd hardest difficulty? For a mimic beacon it costs 3 faceless and 100 supplies. Honestly i think 35 supplies for a stun grenade is much better. I realize what i said about stun grenades earlier but honestly it's less than 1/3 of the cost if you take the faceless into account and with 100 supplies it's a massive investment when i have to buy better gear for my soldiers. It just doesn't cut it esp. when my hp is low.

Anyway hardest difficulty on xcom 2 is nuts. Play it if you want to strain your sanity and rage.

Picked up Mad Max for cheap-ish, thoroughly enjoying tooling around and harpooning bad guys, then stealing their cars for my collection. I'm a bit low level to be taking on convoys, but that hasn't stopped me!
The atmosphere and visuals are astounding, the only thing I'm a little less happy about is the controls - I keep accidentally blasting the dirt with my precious shotgun ammo!
I expect I'll soon get the hang of it though. I feel like I have a little bit of a head start: I used to spend hours driving in the wasteland in Jak 3, on PS2, so this feels a bit like a more awesome version of that.
Great fun!

Hackjng away at hyperdimension Neptunia rebirth 2 or whatever. Main characters (well some of them) are awol and their temporary stand ins are less endearing. Gameplay and most everything are pretty much the same, but more of the same isn't bad here.

The voice acting/writing seems to have stepped up a little bit, some of it was a bit halting/awkward/idunno-but-not-quite-right in the previous game and now it's a bit smoother. So long chains of dialogue/story tend to get broken up a little more which is nice for how often I need to stop.

Been crashing more than the previous game and the cut scenes are super choppy but I think we can lay at least some of that at my poor little machine's feet.

Also been playing bg:ee a bit which really means I've been making loads of characters and having trouble choosing one, plotting out my party in the second and third installments even though I may not get there, and researching oldschool 2nd editon dnd rules and various nuances of the games. One of these days I'll get playing, the newest features of the enhanced edition are ry swell.

Anyone played the new BG, dragonspire or something?

Wish I still had a PS2 so I could play that and Future Perfect too - such great games!

I convinced my brother to buy Overwatch on his PC while he waits for a new one so that I can buy the one he is using currently, so I'm back in the Overwatch saddle for a little while; mainly trying to get better with some of the characters that I'm not so great with while perfecting my skills on Lucio and D.VA

Also playing XCOM Enemy Within on mobile. It's aged pretty bad imo compared to XCOM 2, which has much more concise and reliable game mechanics. Playing it on Classic but no Iron Man because Thin Men on Classic are the most broken thing ever featured in a video game. Plus random bull keeps happening.

I'm still playing Clash Royale, surprisingly, despite it being one of the most frustrating games I played this year, as my zap spell lags when I use it 9 times out of 10, often meaning I lose 2 elixir for nothing. Still a fun card game if anyone hasn't tried it

Oooh. Actually being able to finish quests and stuff? That sounds fun, though ceaselessly building buildings was always charming in its own right.

May have finally settled in BG. Gonna run a blade because I like bards. A fighter/mage (or fighter/illusionist gnome, or fighter kit-->dual class into mage) could probably do most things better but the spins are neat and because I like bards... Chaotic neutral too so I can basically hang out with anyone, planning to explore some of the characters throughout the saga that I may have missed or underutilized.

Also on the back burner is a party I've always wanted to run, the Shorties. Lead by a dashing Cleric/Thief the party can only recruit gnomes, halflings, and dwarves. Well maybe one exception for one of the two NPCs that will romance a gnome, allowances made for the boss's lady friend etc.. But maybe not, he could always go stag. The theme/restriction forces me to use some characters that I've always wanted to try but never really made room for (Mazzy and Korgan from BG2, Tiax, Alura, and Quale from BG1) and gets a couple of my favorites in there too, plus it's a good excuse to use a Cleric/Thief and those are always fun.

Of course, I've got at least half a dozen other characters I want to play. Halfling Assassin, Kensai "Sword Saint" that's mastered axes/daggers but only to throw them , Dragon Sorcerer, the new Shaman class..etc ad infinitum. Really would like to do a Stalker (sneakier backstabbier ranger) that dual classes to cleric even though they fixed the ranger->cleric slash ranger/cleric getting all the druid spells thing (made for a very interesting caster, but any ranger/-cleric combo is still more interesting IMO than fighter/cleric) but yeah...only so much time

Still chugging away at that Neptunia rebirth: 2 or whatever, and of course casual Pokemon Going.

More xcom 2 on legend ironman. I can't take this. It's too hard. The farthest i got was 2 runs at the end of june. Avatar progress almost finished and i just couldn't handle it. Game is hard. Any slip ups are punished mercilessly. Injuries take forever to heal, all times to do everything is increased except mission timers and the 3 week reports. It's just hard. I need a break.

My game as the Unified Systems of Greater Britain is finally getting interesting, playing on a 5000 star galaxy has given me a lot of time to build up, now I am subjugating all the minor regional powers I've more or less surrounded with my aggressive expansionism.

Using a fair number of mods -
Downscaled ships
Galaxies Unlimited
More Spaceport Modules
New Ship Classes & More (escorts, carriers, battlecruisers, dreadnoughts)
No Clustered Starts

and like ten other ones that add flags/portraits/graphics.

Sure. Play Humans or Orcs first, as they're the most well rounded and least trick oriented. Always do your safe moves first (running, high passing, etc.), then do your risky moves.

Also, with Orcs and Humans, I usually go for score two or three times, then injure and stall the other team

Finally settled on a Dagger mastering Kensai for my neutral/good Baldur's Gate 'trilogy' run. She rolls around chunking men and monster alike with her bitty pokey daggers, and if they don't wanna stick around she throws for more DPS than any of the archers Leaving the option open for dual classing to thief as Montaron is my favorite NPC to micromanage at the moment. I think I'll wind up trying to curtail any further characters to an "evil run" and if I need to play AGAIN after that... maybe a "Lawful Stupid" run, either with a Paladin protagonist or just a goody-two-shoes that sticks with the holy rollers and good guys. We'll see.

I guess I could pick up Pillars of Eternity but they're still pretty proud of it price-wise and I fear I'll be a little put off by it. In much the way I was with the Dragon age games, the spells and magic and just general fantasy tropes involved skewed too much with my brain which is Firmly Rooted within the D&D settings (for better or worse).

Been playing Overwatch. The game is having a "Summer Games" event, with special loot boxes that drop at least one item that's Olympic themed. There are new skins, victory poses, comments, sprays, and icons (not all characters have new skins and poses). However, the new items can't be purchased via in-game currency, and can only be obtained from the loot box. This is an intentional move on Blizzard's part, as the company wants to put some rarity on the items by making it so players don't obtain every single item in the event.

I highly advise you to buy Pillars Of Eternity if you enjoy Baldurs Gate. Even if it costs a bit, worth every penny, I have completed said game several times and enjoyed every moment of it. The magic system is good and well some tropes are hard to avoid when making a game like PoE. Alos congratzs on playing as a Kensai, sounds like a lot of fun.

Started a new party in Icewind Dale 2 and decided to go for a mixture of Durrogar and Drow members, noting like having a band made up some of the most feared and hated races doing good and saving the world. Even if you get quite a lot of abuse from NPCs and what not, but its all worth it when you can have a Drow sorceress curbstomp hordes of high level monsters with a single spell. Or watch as a Durrogar kill a giant with a few hammer blows

I want to play IWD2 again but I'm kinda hoping for an enhanced edition. I know t was newer and shinier to start with but I still want a much polish on the rough edges as one can get. I like the level adjustment races but it hurts my brain to ha e casters picking up spells on a delayed schedule. I finished Mad Max a week or so back, I'm just going after history relics, collecting enemy vehicles for my collection and so on - I was considering what to play next, and I realized that I'm probably not going to go back to Fallout 4 for the forseeable future.
After Mad Max's atmosphere, storyline, and gameplay, FO4 just seems so bland and uninteresting. Granted, that may be because Mad Max is still pretty new to me, but I don't remember FO4 being anything like as evocative. I actually cared about Chumbucket, hated Stank Gum and Scrotus, whereas in FO4... well, emotional investment in the main storyline 0%. I think the difference is in what I would call the "personality" of the games.

I may go back to the 360 and finish off The Witcher 2, then maybe do a pro-Scoia'Tel run, or I may even go back to Skyrim for a while, rather than buying something new on the XBONE.
Incidentally, has anyone played Overlord? I was recommended it by a friend as the kind of thing I might like - is it worth picking up?

Neverwinter Nights 2 and expansions at the moment. Am on a bit of a dnd kick. I hope they release a NWN or BG style game for fifth edition...

Oh, and occasionally, Kingdom: New Lands.

Yeah 5th would be fun. Built in mini-kits for each class and really flexible skills. Sneaky fighter or mage? Sure just work it into your back story no reason you have to be half or more a thief or rogue. Plus warlocks. And Bards got a nice overhaul I think. And the stats are a whole new level of comprehensible and even more math friendly. Lota pluses really.

Xandria the dagger master has made it to baldurs gate finally, think I'm gonna rush a bit before I lose my focus. I've got two more charnames rolled up, one for evil and another to mash all the new NPCs into one party. And a custom elf-based party focused on ztealth and elf stuff...oi those games... One might say 'too much' replayability.

More me getting owned in xcom 2. Still a great game. A friend bought me the 'alien hunters' DLC (which i have yet to access). Sadly i can't play any more today as i have work tomorrow and i've been sleep deprived. Best to get one night of decent rest at least.
