WISHLIST TIME!

You're head of GW and can greenlight 3 projects (codex, expansion, minor game). What do you go with? And why will they make GW a huge dump truck full of money?

Warhammer Armies : Chaos Dwarfs. Because the background is cool, it was just the Hats that were silly. Plus moar Warhammer Fantasy is always a good idea.

Warhammer Quest Version 2. Well, why the hell not? Supremely fun game, and like Space Hulk but with knobs on.

Codex Mercenaries. Just a fun little side project really. Little bit here and there of random mercenary units, with of course the option to field the book as a single Army, a sort of league of non aligned worlds.

Fed up of Scalpers? But still want your Exclusives? Why not join us?

1. Obvious but important none the less, updating all codices to fifth edition rules. Not necessarily new models just updating of the core army rules and fluff

2. A new expansion that focus' on small skirmishes, i'm thinking necromunda style for game size, terrain and general tactical style. However using 40k armies, so you could have a couple of squads of Space Marines hunting down xenos in a hive. Dark Eldar doing a slave raid on a small Guard outpost. Something that focus' on small squad to squad combat and relies heavily on tactics. ( I cant say I know of a game like this, odds are there is one though, I havent played anything but 40k)

and I really cant think of a worthy third option

I play: - 2000pt
Deathwing - 12-1500 pts and counting

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Codex: Adeptus Mechanicus (this needs to be an army)
Codex: Lost & The Damned (the most common enemy in the fluff needs representation in the game)
Codex: Chaos Space Marines (retcon the current abortion from existance and re-do it).

And if I didn't re-do CSM, it'd be Genestealer Cults.

Necromunda

Why? GW needs an introgame for the 40k universe that people can get into fairly easily. It was a popular game that still has a following. CoD terrain makes it easy to make a stunning Necro table with ease.

How? New edition, with 6 basic factions.
1. Hive gangs - No more trenchcoat gang vs bandana gang. they're all hive gangs.
2. Genestealer Cult - any questions? Good.
3. Chaos Cult - any questions? good.
4. Redemptionist Cult - any questions? good. The nice thing the 3 can all share a sprue with a ton of bitz to differentiate them.
5. Pit slaves/servitors - zombie cyborg gladiators! It's almost as good as space ninja catpeople jedi!
6. Arbites/Enforcers - the man who keeps you down!

So now you have 6 factions who represent a good cross section of 40k fluff and are differentiated by more than what clothes they wear.

Codex Lost and the Damned

I'd take it in 2 directions. 1 is the obvious Dark Guard method. The other is a Cultist-based guerilla insurgency army. It's probably the main form of warfare in the 21st Century but there is no 40k army that plays that way. So lots of infiltrate and ambush.

Warhammer 30k

A big hardcover with Imperial Crusade army lists vs Horus' rebel legions.
A plastic box set with marines in historic armor.
A plastic box set with trenchcoat and gasmask guard
rules for custom primarchs (since no one will ever agree what the primarchs stats should be).
Insanely expensive Forgeworld Primarch models.
Tell me this wouldn't make GW a gazillion dollars!

1. Project Horus Heresy: Why? Because most hobbyists are thinking about it already and its time is now.

All 18 SM chapters complete with full line of MKIII and MKIV armor plastics.

Within the project I'd bring in Guard, Dark Guard, AM, Dark AM, and Adeptus Custodes armies and models. AM would have as a foundation Skittari(Troops), Praetorians (Heavy), Protectors(Elites), Adepts, Electro-shock priests, Servitors, and super-techy AM stuff.

2. Necromunda - a stand alone great game/intro game to be sold on highstreet. See all Kid Kyoto's comments, he's got it spot on. All his selections for models make great alternative armies for 40K as well.

3. A return of Specialist Games. Not the red-headed step child treatment that is has gotten the last few years.

Omadon's Realm

1: Codex Inquisition (with full combination of WH n DH and all the other bits n bobs most definately including plastic SOB kit annnnnd a multi, multi part inquis n retinue plastic kit). - Sales? The multipart kits, esp the Inquisitor and Retinue, would provide so many bits for sculpting, converting etc... oh yes, this will be a winner, plus most of the army already exists.

2: Codex Dark Eldar (lets just get this done, with Jes G sculpting it, it will be a winner despite my slight loathing of them since their creation).
- Sales? If Jes works his magic, it will be a winner.

3: Legendary Armies Tome, this heavyweight book contains the character armies lists: Known Craftworlds, Ork Klans, Selected Imp Guard Regiments, Tyrannic Splinter Fleets, Famous Space Marine Chapters, Specific Chaos Legions and The Lost and the Damned. It would be a hardback book the size of the rulebook and similar price and would sell like hotcakes due to the range of sub-armies covered in it.
- Sales? The Beauty of this book from a sales angle is that you still need the parent army book for any of the forces included, and it covers so many 'do wants' from different players.

1) A proper Errata/update/faq for all current codice with no ambguity or ask your opponent answers.

2) An update of all codice wthout tying them to model release.

3) Plastic models for all troops for all armies followed by elites, fast attack and heavy support.

It's a pipe dream but it's what I'd like to see.

(1) 6th Edition 40k, I'm tired of 5th already!
(2) The Codex UNIFORMITY Project, all Codices in one big black book to be released alongside 6th edition 40k. ~75 hardback.
(3) 40k Battlegroups: Warhammer Skirmish game with {3-20} models a side, incorporatng all the rules for, and making it possible to essentially play, Necromunda, Space hulk, Gorkamorka, Combat Patrol and 28mm scale inquisitor (with all races from 40k represented) in one game.

I would greenlight the hiring of several more games designers/playtesters.

I would then do so again.

And again.

That should bring the number of designers/playtesters to an almost acceptable level.

All over the U.S.

1)Space dwarves either as a Terminator armoured version of the Adeptus Mechanicus or as the Demi-Urg.

I prefer the demi-urg idea.If The bloody elves have there own seperate space faring race then so should the dwarves.

Tying the Squats to the imperium was GWs mistake with the dwarven arch-type. It limited them to using Imperial Iconography(?), or to put it more easily imperium gothic look as oppossed to a dwarven warhost look. The imperium look limited them by the fact that the Dwarven arch-type would be best represented by a MEQ and the imperium alsready had SMs.

Dwarves with their own look and tech would sell like crazy.

2)I agree with the halonachos, but I'd add making a merchandising agreement with Nerf. Maybe make them a do it yourself, assemble your own, kit.

Do I need to really explain the idea of how this would start kids(and their dads)getting into the hobby earlier and be a great promotion for the base game.

3)Dark Eldar, Instead of chasing trends get on one while its just getting hot. Their seems to be a major shift in the societal acceptance of the concept of tight revealing outfits with a hint of bondage thrown in.

Don't believe me. Check out the (Not promoting it as good, just popular) Legend of the seeker. The fact that the Legend of the seeker hasn't sent the Religious community into an absolute frenzy is a testament to this thought.

If your wondering what I'm talking about. Watch the show and count the number of times women and men are bound. Then count the number of times that torture is implied if not out right shown. I don't think there is necessairly anything wrong with a series depicting such but there is a line where such depiction becomes gratuitous. I'm just surprised at the times it is running and how close to that line they sometimes come.

My point here is that if my usually prudish country is being accepting of such a show then it might be a good time to release the DE.

Please do not take my reasons for why making items from my wishlist would be profitable as an excuse to derail the thread.

I would use all my newfound resources towards a 40K MMORPG featuring Space Marines. There's been a huge demand from Blizzard fans for a Starcraft MMO, so I think the time is now to produce a 40K one and steal their users. If done right, it holds the most promise as a WoW killer.
