1. Move the entire metal range into all plastic kits. All of it.
2. Include a ribbon of GS in every $75+ box, and a tube of it in every $200+ box.
3. Bitz bags: 2 lbs of random plastic bitz in a bag, from arms, weapons and heads to scenery, books, and small pieces of terrain, at a discounted rate. You don't get to pick the specifics, but it would be a well-stocked pile.

Absolutely. Plastic miniatures are the best stuff ever. However, I like Crayola air-dry clay better than green stuff. You can get a tub of it the size of a tub of cool-whip for $5, and there's no kneading required.

Project One: Consistency and Standardization
1. Compile all units and their options referencing points, attribute and the army.
2. Any item that goes across multiple armies is standardized in it's points and attributes.
- Example: All land raiders are 230 points base and transport 12 models.
3. Units are then compared against each other to make sure their attributes align correctly when compared against other units.
- Example: CSM terminators are better in melee than SM terminators, while SM terminators are better at range.
4. If changes are minor, release chapter approved / FAQ update
5. If changes are major, release 40K 6th
6. Once 40K is complete, repeat for other product lines.
Project Two: Chaos Redux
1. Codex: CSM and Codex: Demons are removed from production.
2. Codices are then split into 3 books and released one after the other. Each codex will be independent with no Allie rules. Summoning system is done away with and they will either start on the table or adhere to a DS & assault mechanic.
- Codex: CSM - Covers the 5 undivided legions. Sort of like CSM plus guard, with cult units as elites. New models to include generic demons and a fast attack choice.
- Codex: Gods of Chaos - The 4 cult armies are covered in this book and what benefits you receive are based on the god you choose. Cult marines and cult lesser demons are troops. Heavies, elites and fast attack choices to be filled out better.
- Codex: Traitors - Guard plus demons. Lost and the damned done correctly.
Project Three: Marketing IP
1. License a 40K cartoon. Hasbro and Ban Dai has used cartoons for years to sell product.
2. License a 40K movie, a good movie with a real budget. Same as above.
3. Further develop IP by providing writing input on the above to make the universe more detailed.

I don't really think I'd mess with the product release schedule too much, save for one exception below. So -
1) Bring back the bitz service. Fire anyone in management who signed off it's removal, as they fundamentally do not grasp how to grow the hobby. It's essential to the creativity that retains long term gamers and inspires new ones.
2) WD's economics don't work - so pull in fan work for free (or models) to fill it chock full of content, and keep employed editorial staff to cover new releases, edit and tidy said articles and perform nice photography only. Reduces costs, improves content, increases sales.
3) My exception - a Lost and the Damned codex. Requires virtually no new production resource (no new models... maybe an upgrade sprue). Developer time is, comparatively, very cheap. Sells decent and sells more models, hence gaining a better return on investment than any other project. Not doing this is actively dim.

1) Fix WD to have Less ADs and more content, Drop its price to £3 an issue, more hobby content and freebies, and the old subs deals (you know buy a 2 year sub get £20 of mini's free)
2) Convert Price restrictive metal modelas to allow for to plastics (think ogryns and wraithgaurd rather than sterngaurd and tankbusters)
3) Streamline the 16 existing codexes down to 3 marine dexes as opposed to 5 (Codex, a bit deviant and very devient), inquisition to one book, codex daemons re-intergrated into codex chaos but in such a way as to allow full armies of marines daemons or both, maybe Eldar and dark eldar into one book (depending on if DE go more towards space pirates or chaos eldar). once this is done and all dexes are up to speed use the space gained to split chaos into the aforementioned book, a big 4 book and a LaTD book, then a second ork book for clanz. Even if the eldar are not combined this still reduces the overall number of books to 15 and its 15 that folks actually want.

After reading this thread some more I've updated my list (unfortunately it overflows a bit)
1. Warhammer 30k. Big awesome book, all armies get pre-heresy rules and plastic conversion kits, new character models. Basically a huge new release like apocalypse. Imperial jetbike squadrons, a conversion sprue for each old mark of power armor, primarchs with FW models, and other such crazy things.
2. An Advanced Codex line. This would include:
Codex Imperium: Another big, hardcover book. Has Adeptus Mechanicus, Arbites, 3 branches of inquisition.
Codex Chaos: daemons, lost and the damned, dark mechanicus.
Codex Chapters: rules for loyalist chapters. This would feature all 9 of the original loyalist legions, as well as some more popular later foundings such as BT.
Codex Craftworlds: lists for each craftworld, exodites, and Dark Eldar.
Codex Traitors: lists for all 9 traitor legions
Codex Ork Clanz: lists for all clanz
3. Profit

Only 3?
I like H.B.M.C.'s idea.
Okay, here's my take:
1. Codex Chaos
One large book with CSM, Demons, and LatD.
The CSM would work like this: you dedicate them to either one of the Gods or original traitor legions to gain special traits.
For example: Nurgle favoured CSM units, gain FnP, Plague grenades, +1 Toughness (and I mean, real toughness, not that 4(5) stuff) and -1 Initiative. There has to be some drawback.
Demons would be like they are in the current Codex right now. Therer are not really bad choices, but they're just not interesting enough to justify a single army.
Lost and the Damend would be a combination of IG vehicles and special units together with stuff like Mutants and Zombies.
There would be bonuses if you keep your army within a single theme, kinda like the old lists for Death Guard and World Eaters.
The most important thing in this book would be an official apology by everyone who wrote the last CSM 'Dex. And a promise that they will never ever get to write a Codex for an army that already exists.
2. Codex: Forces of the Imperium
This would include all 3 Inquistion branches, Adeptus Mechanicus and Allies rules for Imperial Guard and Marines, but only if a Inquisitor Lord or High Mechanicum Magis is present.
It would be only one book, but with more restrictions. Unless you play the an Apocalypse-sized game there is no reason to field Grey Knights together with SoB.
There would be rules for Arbites, Inquisitorial Stormtroopers and a few Alien allies if you use an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor.
Right now I can't think of a 3rd one.

I played a few rounds of Necromunda, but I didn't nearly enjoy it as much as Mordheim. My main problem was, that most of the time, you just don't see anything and the whole game was about who would dare to go out in the open and trigger's the opponent's overwatch first.

Instead of 3 (or more) Chaos releases spread over 3+ years, it's one big splash and then nothing, which is totally against the GW business model. Plus, you have Chaos guys sitting around with nothing shiny for a "long" time (4 to 6 years), wondering when Chaos is going to get more love. And from past experience, we all know how good a job GW does of balancing multi-list Codices with lots of options...
Imperium is a similar problem, but that's still like 5 or 6 lists in one book that bounce against 5 flavors of Marines ( SM, BA, BT, DA, SW) + Guard.
Each of these is so much work, I just can't see GW doing a good job on either project. I think they'd be the royal screw-ups of royal screw-ups.
Hell, GW can't even get *Guard* right, and that was a single list with whose problems have been known for a *long* time. What makes any of you think that GW can possibly get an uber-Chaos or uber-Inquisition / uber-Imperium book right?

Hi all.
I would just do what is REALY NEEDED!
1/A total re-write of the 40k rule set to cover the entire 40k universe!
A elegant and efficient rule set that allows the wide and varied units in the 40k universe to be acccuratley represented with the same stat line for ALL units.
Then develop a solid force composition method coupled with a provable and definate PV allocation sytem.
Then produce as many cool minatures as possible knowing any element-model-unit could be worked into a customisable army ,that would be ballanced to any other customisable army created using the force composition -PV allocation printed in the back of the rule book.
No need for Codexes any more!Just pick you favorite minatures -kits to build YOUR own personal army.
2/Close all B&M stores , sell everything direct -online/mail order at 30% of current RRP.(The B&M stores massive overhead costs would no longer have to be passed on to the customer.)
3/ Replace the B&M stores with a few key positioned 'hobby centres', and promote/activley support GW gameing clubs in Schools- Colledges etc.

1)Truescale (I’m sorry if Jes doesn’t like the term!) Marines. It would revitalize the entire line, bring it into step with the fiction and, here’s the good part for GW, sell Marines to all the Marine players, again. Kind of an LP to Cassette to CD kind of thing…
2) A 40K Chaos Codex that actually represented, even if only in a minor way, ALL of the Traitor Legions.
3) WFB Chaos Dwarfs – because that’s the only ‘new’ army I’d actually buy for Fantasy…

1) The Horus Heresy - I must say this has the potential of being the big thing that put 40k into the mainstream. A movie based on it would sell millions, but only if done right, by some director who loves the IP as much as if not more than Peter Jackson loved LOTR.
Think about it. Why is the Heresy so big now just in our gaming circles. You have all the elements of drama, action, and horror all rolled into one. I would love to make a Heresy era army and be able to play some of those titanic battles.
2) Reboot the rules - If Gw wants to make more money and keep people interested in their games then the rules have to be good. This whole notion of releasing one codex at a time makes no sense. It's would be like D&D releasing the DMG and then trickling the Players handbook across 7 books all released one at a time.
I propose with 6th edition releaseing the BRB and all the codexes tested, reviewed, and tourney ready. that way they can focus on being a mini company and releasing some great plastics.
3) Tourney support. Get/hire/make a department just with the sole purpose of stimulating and growing a thriving tourney scene. City Tourneys, State/Province/ etc.. tourneys, country tourneys, and a World tourney. Have a universal floor rules, and FAQ/Errata to support your judges rulings. Then get the best people out there competing for some prize money and it will make millions.
For example FLGS buys into tourney scene for $1000 charges $25 entrance fee gets 100 people playing, it equals out to $2500 brought in to the FLGS and GW . GW and the FLGS make more since people will need more models, paints, supplies, etc...
It's the same model WOTC uses for Magic and it works to this day. There are still people playing in the pro tour and people buying cardboard crack by the case full.

I think that rescaling all the marines would not only not sell well, cost a lot to re-do essentially the entire line, and cause problems with scaling of chaos, older SM that would not get new minis, etc... there are too many reasons to count. Changing the scale at this point would be a horrible move.
