A friend of mine recently bought a 1500ish point Tau army for around $70. Sounded like a fantastic deal to me! He brought it over today and the paint scheme on the Devilfish blew me away. I decided to share it with the rest of DD.

And yes, that seeker missle is glued right where you think it's glued.

Dear god. Get him a tub of Simple Green and some toothbrushes for Christmas.
If the entire army is painted like this, I think I need to see pictures.

Please tell me that isn't painted in enamel. But yeah, he'll probably have to strip it (donno what to do about the seeker missile though...)

I agree, more pics.
Did your friend ask the seller if he was going with the whorehouse in distress theme? cause really all this needs is a red light in the cockpit window
BTW, its not that bad, i guess reprimering it could work.

He's already basecoated over the troops and started re-painting them in his own scheme. But this sole example remained, due to either the paint being enamel or mixed with PVA glue. He will try out Simple Green. Sorry to disappoint, guys!

Why are you guys so distressed? I think this is an excellent paintjob of grand "Orky-ness". Check out that detail of lovely blue contrasting with brown and that wonderful primer that just-so-happens to peek through the paint job!

A better paintjob while high on paintfumes, 20 beers, and 10 shots while painting a devilfish I have not seen yet!

$70 is a good deal.
Secondly, I too was blown away with the force of a 100 megaton bomb filled with crayon and a 3 year old's motor control. I think more pics would be hilarious, and also think that if the scheme is desired by its new owner, then strip it anyways and paint a little better.

It was a great bargin, and the rest of the army looked fine once he painted over it. Off the top of my head it included:

1 Hammerhead
1 Broadside
3 Crisis suits
2 12 man Fire warrior squads
1 pathfinder squad (6-7 strong squad)
Assorted gun drones
And the Devilfish!

That may well be. If nothing else, the placement is awesome, even if what's underneath kind of makes me want to run screaming in terror.
