I thought about using respawning Conscripts with Chenkov as a unit to hold up the enemy in assault before they reach my gunline... but it seemed to be a waste of firepower.

Using a Leman Russ Eradicator. By far my favorite tank, but its so terrible.

Hogtie the commissars and run away.

It's just delaying their death, unless the whole army has an escape plan and turns to chaos on mass. Which is probably only delaying it further.

The first one has been done before, but it's still a classic. As for the new one, that's quite ingeneous. You're on your way to becoming a bona-fide tactial genius. (of sorts)

Just take conscript platoons. No commisars allowed.

Hey! I assault with my guardsmen! "For the honor of Cadia" lets the average guardsman hit like a space marine, hell one of my commisars personally killed 2 termies this way... anyways bad tactics:

- Using a techpriest for anything but repairing vehicles. (although i had mine assault a deffkopta and blow it up)
- massive scout sentinel rush
- 10 man stormtrooper squad without special weapons

EXTREMELY WRONG..

Try 5 combined infantry squads all with power weapons sargeants and a single commissar with power weapon.
Throw in a priest.
Now have straken or a creed close by.

24 st 4 in 4 power weapon attacks.

90 st 4 in 4 attacks.

all with reroll to hit.(love those priests)
45 expendable models before you lose any power weapon attacks.
Stubborn LD 9(with reroll after a pleasant little execution)

Besides that, a blob of guardsmen is better than something that's crap in assault (Fire Warriors, for example...)

Charging 50+ Guard into a mob of 50+ something boyz can be incredibly fun. With a commissar in tow, that combat WILL last a long time.

actually....the guard SHOULD win that fight...

with the addition of rerolling misses and the orks having a worse armour save...im pretty sure that platoon has got the orks number

And how long will those guardsmen last after that melee?

While charging is not the worst thing you can do, its pretty far up there. I'd rather assault space marines then have a shootout, Better chance of lasting in assault rather then taking the AP 5 Bolters
