Utilizing Careful Highlighting
Finland... the country next to Sweden? No! That's Norway! Finland is to the east! No! That's Russia!

since the doom of malantai has a toughness of 4 but he has an inv save of 3+ you should arm your troopers with lots and lots of meltaguns multimeltas and lascannons
do not ever go to close combat with the doom of malantai unless you have about 20 attackers since he has a special rule that every enemy squad in 6'' of him takes a leadership test if failed you automatically lose the amount of men failed with the dice like: 10 dudes ldship test failed by 4 so 4 casualties
and if the doom of malantai kills your men hell get stronger and rcieve more wounds
so instant kill is your friend against him

Yes. Yes. Kill doom with S8+ weapons.
Don't get close to him? Those S-Pods really put a hole in that plan.
If you need to tailor your list to take out Doom, you're doing it wrong.
Yes, if any players you know have Doom, you know what it does.
IF they don't, then this thread is unneeded, as they will never fight it.
I'm sure there are at least three or so threads on the subject, not current, though most of dakka already knows this spewed genius.

The only time i ever played against him i Jawsed it by accident (it was between me and his tyrant) the Tyrant rolled a 6 the poor b*stard and the doom failed as well, oh and a bunch of lesser creatures but they weren't important.
I played the rest of the game in ignorance of it's powers, which i won't say are OP because that would be hi(y?)pocritical of me since i Jawsed it.

S8+ weapons will rape the DoM. All he has to do is fail one 3+ save (easier than one might think... depending on the luck of the player).
My friend got him up to S7 W7 on the turn he arrived, and then I ID'd him in my next shooting phase. It's remarkably easy. The only real issue with him is the argument as to whether he hits embarked stuff.
Also, he's apparently OP against stuff w/ low leadership. But I play BT and CSM, so most of my infantry are Ld 9/10.

Ok, first of all, Meltas and Las are completly unnecessary against DoM. You are essentially trying to kill some Marines, T4 with a 3+ save. What do you use to kill Marines? Then use that against the Doom.
Do not ever go into CC? So my TH/ SS Termies will lose against someone whos S4 with 4 wounds? And stop quoting rules like no-one has never seen them before, many, many people have Codexes.
Here's one word which will completly defeat your tactica: Psycannons

Yeah, 10 regenerating wounds? How does he get those wounds? Either he zaps you at 24" which will usually drain him down to below half his wounds, or he gets within 6" and you could possibly fail a Ld check.
Hey, I'm just using TH/ CC Termies as an example. He was suggesting that DoM was a monster in CC, and I simply suggested a real ball-breaker.
Using a S10 template dosen't work against DoM? He may have a 3++ but he's not invincible. Fail one save and he's Instant Killed, so I have no idea where you're getting that idea from.

1. OR like against most players I have matches against, he comes down in a fething pod? You know, that cheap, little, delivery system?
2. Ok, doesn't change the fact that short of power fists hidden behind plenty o' marines, or power klaws behind a wall of orks are going to have a good time against him, since anything within his range takes an absurd amount of wounds, and he regenerates. Close combat certainly isn't the way to go, unless you have nothing else of use.
Using TH/SS terminators is not ok as an example if it is a poor one.
3. The fact that that scattering, 24" range vehicle, may not kill a model with a 3++ save? Why would I assume that...
EDIT-Ammendum to point 3. IF you come down in a s-pod, which you really should, then the vindicators will have to turn to show their side to the 'nids, free KP's!!!

4 multimeltas 2 lascannons 20 shots from two puns (not 10 and 10 but 20 and 20) he gets 4 wounds :O
from ten (since he/it killed like 8 guardsmen)

Doom costs.. what... something like 80 pts? Another 30 or so for a pod? So he is a total of about 110 points? And how does he NOT make those points back? His 6" auto-kill all squads skill happens EVERY SINGLE turn, BEFORE you shoot at him. The average roll on 3d6 is about 11. So, unless you are Ld 10, on average you will be losing about 3 or 4 models from every squad he deepstrikes on. ON AVERAGE. EVERY TURN. BEFORE YOU SHOOT. <------- READ THAT. BEFORE YOU SHOOT. So he squad he deepstrikes next to will lose about 6 to 8 models. NO SAVES. Who cares if you can ID him. He already wiped out an entire squad and he didn't even have to do anything. And he is an extremely cheap (points-wise) unit to field in a pod. The model is pretty absurd.
I realize if you stick a bunch of guys in transports and what-not, that will help a lot against him. That is, of course, assuming that his 6" auto kill everything skill doesn't affect your guys inside the transport.

Is there a good reason for that? It says every non-vehicle unit within 6". When you measure to the hull of a transport, does it automatically include the unit inside the transport?

You should never take the hit of DoMs power in your own shooting phase, as you can simply move out of his range in your movement phase.
I have a friend that regulary field the DoM. As a Tau player I either blast him with broadsides the turn he comes down (if he is in a position to threaten me) or hit him with some Fusion Blaster Piranhas. He usually goes poof.

Where do you measure from when a psychic hood bearer is embarked? Or troops when you are measuring if they score? The debate is an odd one. It is not targeting, not shooting, and not a psychic power. It is also not a very hard model to kill. Anything s8+ coming its way makes the DoM cringe. And then, usually it explodes. The cost that Tyranids REALLY pay for fielding DoM is an elite slot. And that slot is going to a infantry killer. In an army really good at killing infantry. In an elite slot that can contain one of the best anti tank shots in the game instead. Also, Kurce, Invulnerable saves are allowed vs the DoM.

Shoot 4-5 missiles, hit 3-4 times, wound 3-4 times, Doom fails at least 1 save. Dead.

I wouldn't worry about it any more. Since DoM has been nerfed he will fielded with less regularity.
But yeah, multiple S8+ weapons is the way to go. Blasts are a waste. Why shoot an S10 large blast at 1 model?
