If so how!

I have only ever destroyed one with the sponson lascannon of a baneblade. 4 to hit, 6 on penetration, 5 on vehicle damage table This was after 2 turns of 4 x lascannon devastator squad and the entire baneblades armament trying to bring it down. (This was a friendly game)

So, whats your experience with destroying monoliths?

Yea, one single triple gun salute from my broadsides normally puts it out of commission. What's sad is the guy was so butthurt that I always blew up his monolith that he won't play vs me anymore, at all...

I have never killed one, but then again I've never seen another Necron player besides myself so I really can't say it holds to much water. Now that I think about it though, I've never fought the army I play most...

2 in one turn, with 2 units of 1 broadside each - in fact, both of them exploded!!!!!! my opponent was rather annoyed with me after that. (this was a team battle) and the explosions killed a tyranid players synapse bubble - and half his army ran away. priceless

I played against the Monolith formation in an Apocalypse game. I brought Terminus Ultra, the Land Raider Apoc-Only variant that comes with 3 TL Lascannons and 2 Lascannons. I put Sgt. Chronus at it's helm, so I'm hitting on 2+. I had first turn, and shot at one, hitting with all 5 shots. I rolled 1 Penetrating hit, and 1 Glancing hit. Rolled a 5 on the Pen, and a 6 on the Glance (just for gaks and giggles). I admit, I got lucky on the first one, but for the rest of the game, Terminus only caused 1 more Penetrating hit and 5 Glancing hits, all to one Monolith, and was unsuccessful at destroying it.

And although this wasn't a feat from myself, but I saw a friend take down 2 Monoliths in 2 turns during an Apoc game. He played the Titanhammer Formation, that included Lysander. First turn they come into play, they're unable to attack since they arrive via Deep Strike, but Lysander throws his Vortex Grenade, and manages to suck one out of oblivion on that turn. Following turn, he assaults another one. Manages to hit it 3 times, and Penetrates twice. Rolls two 4's on the Penetration rolls, and the Monolith is destroyed. (For those who are unfamiliar with Lysander's Thunder Hammer, it strikes at Str 10, and adds +1 to the Damage chart when rolling for vehicles). Fist of Dorn FTW!!

I've never destroyed a Monolith...but then again I have never played against a Necron army.
I've faced every variety of SM imaginable,IG by the boatload,Orks by the ton, lots of Tau and Nids and both flavors of Eldar...but to date not a single Necron army.

Due to only facing my friend's IG armored company before, my Tau army was tailored towards antitank. The first time I faced someone else was a Necron army. Railguns sure love to eat Monoliths, I tell you what. (But for some reason, they don't do to well against Leman Russes. Go figure.)

Oh fighting necrons is great fun! Vanguard are literally unstoppable! I had some (with no jump packs) walk through at least 20 warriors with ease, its SO great! I love fighting necrons!

...I think my WAAC side of me is coming out a bit here. I actually pitty most necron players :(

Two times. Although both of them are similar.

First time, I had a Deff Dread (well, it was an Eldar Walker pretending to be a Deff Dread) take one down. Second time, Ghazzy charged it, and instead of rolling, my opponent (same guy) just took it off the table. This was after Ghaz already had a C'tan for breakfast.

My older brother and I used to game frequently until he left for college. He used to run Necrons and I played Black Templars (Codex: Armageddon era). I think in the 3 or so years that we played together I only ever killed the monolith once with a TL lascannon on a Godhammer LR. In all that time I never killed the Nightbringer once.

When I'm fielding monoliths, this is what I try and target (in order of preference):

Demolishers
Lascannons (usually these are carried by models with higher BS!)
Railguns
Multi-Meltas.

If these are mounted on tanks, I try and shoot them with any gauss weapon to try and shake the vehicle.

Other than that, dreadnoughts and their equivalent are your friend, as they get S10 all day long....

I would have thought you'd put Railguns above Lascannons in priority?

Not always, as isnt most railgun wielding stuff only BS3? (or is that incorrect?) If its Bs4 then hell yeah, railguns above lascannosn!!!

I think they're TL BS3, which is actually better than BS4.

Indeed, that's if they're on broadsides.

On Hammerheads they have a free targetting array so fires at BS4
