The thing that scares me the most is if someone manages to get Wraithcannons anywhere near my Monoliths.

Those things will ruin your day.

10 Swooping hawks with haywire grenades usually do the trick. Considering their points are so much less than the monolith, when they kill it and make their points back, who cares if they die instantly afterwards?

Actually, 10 swooping hawks cost 5 points more than a monolith.

Regardless of their Cost, hawks with Haywire Grenades will definitely put the whipsmack down on a Monolith.

I've had my monolith destroyed, (curse you railguns!) but I've never faced another Necron player. Let alone meet one.

I would have killed my opponent's monolith w/ my podded dreadnought, but I phased him out before that happened.

(I caught all 30 warriors in a multi-assault which ended with a single unit running off the table and w/i 6" of my marines. He got back half his army with WBB but couldn't regroup and all his warriors fled the table at once).

Weapon destroyed simply puts the flux arc at -1 to the roll of shots. Even if agreed that after -6 it is considered destroyed, you have the particle whip that specifically says it cannot be destroyed, thus it always having a weapon.

^This, I believe.

Where are you guys reading that weapons that can't be destroyed are not counted for remaining weapons? I'd love to see that page...

It is in the main rules FAQ, not that it is relevant to the monolith.

I haven't destroyed one yet (likely because I've never faced one) but soon I should get a chance, as my Necron playing friend plans on getting one (I think).

Ah thanks. I don't understand how people will associate that with the Power Matrix not counting.

I like ramming into them with my deffrollas.

I've also killed them with wyches before. Either auto-hit or 4+ to hit, then haywire grenades glance on a 2-5, penetrate on a 6.

Power Fist from an Assault Seargent in 4th ed.

While it's hard to transmit the feeling of epic awesome that moment was, let me assure all that it really was something special to roll a 6 on the old 4th ed glance table, at least that day it was.

Yup, most certainly did.
1st turn my Pred got shaken, so no shots for me.
2nd turn, swivel my TL Lascannon round, roll a 5 to hit, a 6 to penetrate, and a 6 to damage! My mate's face lit up surprisingly, not out of some weird-ass tactic, but simply because he was congratulating me on killing it, was the first guy to do so apparently. That guy's briliant to play against ^^

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

Deff Rollas own Monoliths if they fail their skimmer dodge save.

It's a gamble for the Ork player though, since they have to stop right at the base of the 'lith if they miss and get Particle Whipped.

Lots of times in 3rd and 4th ed, and many different ways, since back then you could kill them on a Glancing 6, so sometimes you'd bring one down with a lucky powerfist, missile launcher, battlecannon, etc. Fewer times in 5th; mostly lucky lascannon shots, though a couple times with Vindicators or Dreadnoughts.

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!

Yep,

Really lucky game though, I had a game of old-PDF-codex of BA vs necrons....I fielded a relatively small army, balanced army (two tacticals, a devastator, a dreadnought w/ a multi-melta, a captain and some termies, basically all the models I owned at that time.), he ran a small army too, except he included a Nightbringer and a Monolith to boot.

I had a devastator squad, one HB, 2 PC and a lascannon. He deploys it in LOS and in range of my lascannon. I take the shot. 5 to hit, 6 to penetrate, then a 6 to blow it up. Luckiest game I ever played.

He was right pissed though, still refuses to play with me.
